I was excited to try this place considering the high ratings. Sadly, this was one of the worst cheesesteaks I’ve ever had. I am from Philly area so my expectations for a classic cheesesteak might be high. However, this sandwich was less than appealing. They don’t put any vegetables in the sandwich except for onions. Nor do they have an option to add anything such as lettuce or tomato. The sandwich was priced at 10.69 after tax and it included the bread, steak, and onions. I had to look tor the cheese in the sandwich and I could barely taste it. After a few bites I was already over the bland taste. It was also a little annoying that there are no options for a fries combo and they dont have water as an option to drink. RIPOFF!!!

Great cheesesteak. Good steak and cheese wiz is used but what puts this place over the top is their bread. Tastes like the real deal from Philly. If you want a cheesesteak in Seattle, go here, not Tats. Tats is great but because they use an Italian roll instead of the amorosa roll that these guys use I pick them any day.

Meat, meat, and more meat! No wonder this place gets great reviews from guys! Me in the other hand, need more taste to this sandwich! It’s great to get your money’s worth of meat but Where’s my mushroom, onion, and peppers? The meat was also in the dry side, I had to drink a lot of water to gobble it down. The employees are great and friendly and it’s interior is ok.

Rating this between a 4 and a 5. 5 on the scale of getting a Cheesesteak outside of Philadelphia which is where I’m from. 4 on the scale of if this place was in Philly would I go to it and I would. If that is the closest I can get to a Philly cheesesteak being on the west coast I’ll take it.

The Dante was DELICIOUS! Well worth $ 10, the sandwich was huge and packed with meat, mushroom and flavor!

I went here for the first time because I always pass by enjoying the smells. It turned out to be ok, nothing special at all, especially for the high end prices they charge. I had the«Donnie» with provolone, the meat was dry and I could barely taste the mushrooms. Also there was barely any cheese, seems like they just used one slice for the entire sandwich. Something I found discouraging from the get-go is the big pile of dry meat sitting on the stove top, this is probably why it was so dry. This place presents itself as specialty cheese steak shop, but from my experience I’ve had cheese steaks from food trucks that were better and cost less. The only reason this place is doing ok is because of office workers and tourists.

No bad experience. Actually quite good & substantial. It gets prepped & cooked rather quickly, & there are easy selection options. My only little gripe would be that there should be more sauce options for those that like things a lil’ more saucy. Still I appreciated how it starts out simple & customers have choice…

When I walked into Calozzi’s a few weeks ago I had a bad feeling. It was just after opening on a Saturday and there was already a mountain of what looked like pre-cooked steak sitting on the grill. We ordered our cheesesteaks anyway, and what we got was pretty flavorless compared to what Calozzi’s used to serve back in the day. I get it, they’re probably often forced to just cook up a bunch of beef to keep up with the orders but that’s a disservice to their reputation and their customers. Cooking each sandwich to order provides a taste that can’t be equaled by steak that’s been sitting for who knows how long. It was one of the many things that set this place apart from other cheesesteak places(cough … Tats). There weren’t even enough customers there that day to justify that much meat just sitting on the grill waiting to be used. The cook sat around playing with his phone for much of the time I was there. Service was super friendly, but I’ll probably pass on going back. I can make a better cheesesteak at home!

Checked this place out today. When we got there they had just added fresh beef to the flat top! These sandwiches are so good! The meat is chopped up perfectly to just the right size, delicious melty white american cheese and the bread is exactly what the sandwich needs!

Melty, Meaty, Delicious. I don’t know how else to describe it, because it’s the closest thing you can get to the real goodness of phily. Sure some aren’t going to appreciate it, and that’s fine, but if you enjoy the taste of meat, and cheese(cheese wiz is the authentic version, but provolone is just fine too), then come here and get one. It’s made fresh, and it’s noisy to be there during lunch, the metal clanging around, it’s a good sandwich. I would love to say more, but it’s just a walk up place. There are very few menu options, and that’s okay, because you know what you are going to get, is going to be a delicious meal. They are pretty fast, and you get your food in a reasonable amount of time.

Love the Donnie(beef, mushroom, onions and cheese). Definitely a party in my mouth! Also very friendly staff. Gave it 4 stars due to no parking spots. Needed to pay parking 3 blocks away but over all, very very good food!

How can you not like a cheesesteak? I’ve been here a couple of times and its always been great service, quick, and tasty. I will admit it is messy so grab a fork and extra napkins, especially if you get it «wit wiz» which is what I like or with provolone. My typical fare is the cheesesteak with mushrooms but I’ve had the roni one which is good but I like mushrooms more. It does get pretty loud in there because they do chop up the meat so metal against metal makes a loud clanking noise which can be off putting.

Good lord, Unilocal… you nailed this one! Little shop, unassuming, friendly staff, sandwich came out insanely fast… and holy mother of crap this is an incredible steak sandwich. Great meat, perfect cheese, nice and greasy, it’s all there. I always love visiting a new town and waking into a place and saying«Gimmie whatever is most popular» and BAM there it is. Absolutely perfect and I wish the sandwich could come on the plane with me!

Wow, finally somewhere which has a proper steak &I cheese. This place is the real deal and only do this sandwich. It’s a bit expensive but I was really impressed with how delicious it was. Can’t wait for me next one!

So simple, yet so delicious. They only have like 7 things on their menu(quality over quantity) and I only tried the steak sammich with white American cheese, but it was perfect. The meat was super flavorful and the bread was really soft and delish. Honestly, unless I am trying to prepare for hibernation, I could have probably split a sandwich and chips with my girlfriend. GREAT Philly cheesesteak lunch spot if you’re in the area!

Date of service: March 26, 2015 Meal: Lunch, dine in All Ratings out of 10: Quality of food: 8 Food to Spend Value: 7 Quality of Service: 8 Overall Rating: 8 I frequent Calozzi’s regularly, but on this day I happened to catch them when they were offering their Roast Pork Italiano Special, which they seem to only do on Thursdays every now and then. It uses the same delicious bread that their regular sandwich does, but the rest of the sandwich is quite different from their typical cheesesteak offerings. It is filled with thinly sliced marinated oven roasted pork loin and is then topped with spinach and provolone. What ensues is yet another amazing sandwich offering from Calozzi’s that I wish they offered more frequently. The sandwich is bursting with flavor, and the pork loin is so tender and literally melts in your mouth. If you can catch them on a day when they are offering, you must order it. You will not be disappointed.

I’ve had authentic Philadelphia cheese steaks, and these are close. Now… Have I tested these on lactose intolerant vampires? No. Have I tried to use them to set up punny tents? No. Have I tired them? YES. And you should too. Just follow the Hitchhiker’s rule and bring a towel, and possibly consider joining OPEC. Seriously, I’m surprised that there aren’t kayakers floating around the storefront in protest. Get it? Grab NAPKINS. You’ll need them.

Had read this was one of those Must Have Cheap Eats in Seattle and it was right on my way back to my room so I decided to give it a whirl. Got a classic Steakwhich with Onions and Wiz. Unfortunately, the way it was closed up and wrapped caused the Wiz to ooze out all over the interior wrapper and stick to it… relieving my Cheesesteak of most of its wonderful Wiz! But, I crammed it in my face, and it got all over everything… and it was GOOD! And, I was very glad I’d grabbed a TON of napkins! Ohh and the staff was friendly and went out of the way to accomodate my need for(gasp) a reciept!

Their sandwiches are ok. Nothing mind blowing but they’ll fill you up. Wish they would offer more free sides, like sliced pickles, peppers, carrots. The flavor just isn’t there for me. I’ve had way better Philly’s and I didn’t have to be in Philly to get it. It’s kind of a big mush of meat and cheese that don’t do enough to stand out on their own. The biggest problem with this place is, the food does not match the cost. I walk out of there spending $ 16 when I could get a better sandwich for half the cost at Potbelly’s or even Jersey Mikes. It’s ridiculous and I feel their prices are that high because of the area and customers have a bit more $$$ to spend than others. However, it’s a good Plan B if the Tat’s Truck line is too long on Thursdays and you gotta get that greasy meat sodium packed sandwich fix.

I think it’s more of a personal thing as I didn’t know Chez wiz was the cheap nacho cheese kind of cheese. That was my real issue as I was dumb and didn’t know. Their service was kinda rude too imo but with that said, it was a good cheesesteak. It was a good amount for a good price. Love the mushrooms and the meat. It was piping out that it basically killed my mouth(no joke). Definitely come if you’re a local.

We happened to walk by and we love cheesesteaks, so this chance meeting was meant to be! We had the pepper cheesesteak with provolone, and it was delicious. The meat was tender and the flavors melded together nicely. The portion size is perfect for one super hungry person or two people to share as a snack. Make sure to grab a fork as it can get a little messy, and some chili peppers also if you like a spicy kick.

I’m honestly not a huge fan of cheese-steak sandwiches. Came here right after the lunch rush was gone. So that was nice to be able to order and sit down right away. The venue was small, they had about 3 high top tables and a bar table against the window. They also had seating available outside. We decided to sit inside because it was freezing to me outside. The Grub. [[ DONNIE $ 10.25 ]] This cheese-steak sandwich comes with fried onions, mushrooms, steak, and provolone cheese. OMGITSSOBIG. I couldn’t even eat the whole thing, I had to give the other half to someone else.
