I’m surprised to read any dismal reviews about this place!!! I LOVE childish things! I think people are getting too offended about what they pay out for stuff they want to sell, but here’s the thing: the store has to make money too!!! Hello ladies! Don’t be so sensitive! If you want to sell your stuff here, know a couple things before going in:
They are VERY picky about quality of goods and brands! Take your beat up hand me downs to goodwill or join your local buy nothing group!
Store credit is always a better deal than cash
You have the option to consign your stuff rather than sell it to them and this option can get you more $$$.
They are way more into wood toys than plastic
Keeping all this in mind, it’s true that this store is more geared for the buyer rather than the seller, but there’s no harm in trying. It’s really a great store and you can find such good deals on both kids stuff and maternity clothes. I bought a ton of clothes there when I was prego, all for a super good deal. I bought a pair of citizens for $ 16! And a pair of page jeans for $ 11! They were both like new… seriously don’t buy any maternity clothes for full price, it’s totally not worth it. After my baby came I continue to shop here for him and still find great deals. Last week I bought a merlins Magic sleep suit for $ 16! Hello!!! All their clothes are in really good shape too, so you don’t have to worry about stains or wear on anything. They have a great baby carrier section as well. The point is go! Support your local businesses and don’t let Amazon taint everything!

I was very happy to find this place. I have been to a few other consignment places in town as well as many Goodwill’s and I felt the prices were too high for the brands or too worn. Finding plain and cute boys clothes is tough. This place knows its brands well and prices accordingly. Also, the style selection was current and easy to find something adorable when you do not want to spend a lot on a full price item. They also had a very good selection of maternity stuff too. Overall everything was much nicer than the goodwill but not so overpriced you could get things new at Old Navy instead. I will be back! The only downside is it is far away, I live in Beacon Hill. But, they do gift cards so I will be adding that to my registry.

Overpriced. Poor selection of clothing for children under a year. No experience with cloth diapers and quality brands.

I’m sure the novelty of buying only very hoity toity brands of clothing is great for some, but it seems weird to buy used things if you want that kind of clothing… Right?
I liked this place for clothing when my guy was a tot, but if you are selling PLEASE try at least one or two other shops who are bound to get you a better price.
On the other hand they are one of the few places that consigns maternity clothes.

I’ve been coming to CT for 6 years now, mostly to sell. I don’t buy as much, because i find the clothes, therefore i don’t have the need to buy from a second hand store unless its shoes or a jacket. The buyers in this store trained me in what brands and quality of clothing they are interested in. At first, it was frustrating when they would «pass» on my toysrus or target clothing, but i started to ask questions. Employees and the owner are more than happy to explain why they passed on an item, if YOU ASK. With that being said, its quite difficult for any small business to survive in Seattle, especially since Amazon has been taking over like wildfire and businesses having to offset minimum wage increases. Most people don’t think about all of the costs that go into a business.
Employees have always been fantastic since I’ve been a patron of CT. If your unsure about what brands they would accept, maybe check the website or maybe, call before spending time to go all the way there? I’m more than sure that they don’t want to have to reject items or upset potential customers. It boils down to this; the owner can accept items she chooses and pay out what she chooses, i mean after all… She knows her own costs, right? A business still needs to make some sort of profit or why buy the clothes from you at all? Its not a personal jab at your preference in children’s clothing, so everyone needs to stop being so sensitive. Make a phone call and ask if they take the brands you have to sell and it will save everyone time! No, im not a family member, the owner, or an employee. I’m just someone trying to provide some understanding on the process.
The layout is not run of the mill, but it adds to the character and unique ambiance of the store. If you take the time and look everywhere, you can find somewhat hidden items (look up ontop of racks and don’t forget to check mannequins!) and gems! Prices vary, but if you know the brands they sell, then you known what is a deal and what is not. If you think they are overpriced, i suggest shopping at Hopscotch kids in Lynnwood. Those prices match the quality, which are lower end brands and stained clothing. CT sells boutique and is very, very, VERY particular about condition of their items they take in, and I’m grateful because i cant rest easy knowing there isn’t a hidden flaw. It also is an indication of the pride the owner has in her standards in relation to her business. $ 9-​$ 10 for Mini Boden, Janie and Jack or Crewcuts item is an amazing deal. $ 15 for Tea Collection is fantastic as well!
Basically, do your research about pricing so you know a good deal when you see it, stop taking things personal if you aren’t offered something for your items, and realize an owner can run it how they so please. :) hope this helps to clarify somethings for people!

recently attempted to sell some gently used items from nb-​6 months from the typical baby brands (gap, carters) and they did not take much and offered little money. i also feel like the workers there are a bit condescending and based on the owners responses to Unilocal reviews i can see where it is coming from. they sell a lot of things used for more than you can buy them for new in store. i understand that they have to make money and pay employees but its not really a consignment store if its selling items for more than new.

I love Childish Things! I’ve found many cute pieces and outfits in great shape (or new) for a fraction of the cost I would have paid new.
Recently, I bought an infant Polo jacket for $ 16 which is absolutely adorable. The store is layed out nicely. I’ve never walked our empty handed! I would recommend them to any pregnant woman or person looking for good quality, name brand items who like to save money.

Random stop for a last minute birthday present yielded killer sale items for my baby niece and a wonderful staff, very helpful and accommodating.
Sure, their prices for consignment pieces might be a bit high, but they have a sale rack that offers plenty of bargains.
I bought two cute things for under $ 20 total, and the salesperson offered to wrap my purchase, and did so in a simple bag, with cute, colorful ribbon.
I’d say that the extra money spent was worth the customer service!

Great small store with nice used toys, clothing and shoes. Have a TON of girls clothes but not as much for boys. Clothing prices are between 5 – 15 $ which isn’t awful but not great either considering Goodwill sells the same clothing for $ 1 – 3 $. Staff are friendly and they keep the place tidy for how small the store is

This maybe isn’t the typical review for what I purchased, but thanks to Jovan I had a very nice experience. My wonderful cat has lymphoma and is going through chemo. Following her treatment she is very fatigued, but follows me from room to room. I thought a baby carrier/​harness would work so I could hold her close while I’m getting things done. Jovan was great. She helped me try on different types of baby carriers. She had great options for me, and thought outside of the box. Jovan was very sweet, and didn’t make me feel like a nut for what I was shopping for. With her help we found the perfect carrier, and it works much better than I thought it would. I’m really thankful for Jovan’s wonderful help.

A good selection of unique items — not just the common brands. Highest quality clothes and shoes of any local consignment store. This store has some stylish maternity clothes. Also a good selection of new items (though mostly aimed at babies). I’ve had no trouble finding the more obscure baby items like changing pads, cloth diapers, carriers, socks, dr brown bottles, and super cute clothes. Probably best for kids under 4.

I got my daughter the next sized shoes, a winter coat, and some pants here recently — and I was glad to see that there wasn’t just some options but many gently loved clothes and shoes in her next size. We’ll definitely be back. Kids grow up so fast, and we’re having to purchase our toddler different sized things every four or six months. I’m glad we now have a staple place to buy and sell back our things (for cash on the spot).

Childish Things is just fantastic. It has been my go-​to place for baby/​toddler clothes, shoes, bedding, etc. They seem to be very selective about what they buy because everything in the store is immaculate and in great condition. I have found wonderful, pristine items from expensive brands– oftentimes much better stuff than I could get new. Don’t let the small size of the store fool you– it’s packed with tons of great new and used baby and children’s stuff. The staff is also very nice and helpful– if you call looking for something specific they will go look for it and put it on hold for you.

I’ve been buying and selling here for years. I would have rated it 5 stars for a long time, but I’ve noticed some unfair pricing lately. On big items they follow the usual consignment payout (50% credit for what they’ll price the item) but on smaller things like clothing they are selling items 3−4X the amount I received. I have been looking for my items on the floor after selling them and I was shocked to see some of the price tags. I think I will stick with selling only bigger items from now on. Also, their price points are way too high. I’ve seen brand new Hannah Anderson items at the outlet store selling for less than what Childish Things is asking for used (and visibily worn) HA items. Used shoes going for more than half of what they would cost used… Just not worth it.

This place is a hidden jewel! I’d highly recommend that you come here if you’re looking for children’s clothing, toys, books, and etc. I came here to buy presents for a baby shower. The stuff that they offer here are super affordable, adorable, and clean. In fact, I found so many brand new items that they offer! Everything in there was super organized by children’s age too so it is easy to find what you’re looking for.
After we found what we wanted to buy, they kindly accepted our Chinook Book coupon for $ 5 off of $ 25. We ended up saving $ 5 and bought three super nice items that would have costed more than $ 75 probably. They even offered to wrap the stuff we bought. She took her time putting the clothing in this beautiful gift bag and put lots of colorful tissue paper to make it look even nicer. It looked like we got our items stuff at an expensive children’s boutique store! I spent a fraction of the cost and got really quality items.
The only downside is that the store is tucked in the corner so it is hard to find. I really wish it was in a better location so that they could get more business, especially since they are such a great little local shop!

Childish things is by far my favorite consignment store in the north end of Seattle. The store is well organized, clean and they do not try to cram too much stuff into the place, so browsing their clothes is actually pleasant.
I have been to many other consignment stores in the area and their prices are very reasonable — on par if not better than others, especially given the quality of the products they carry. Nice maternity section as well — but not a lot of gear (cribs, stollers etc.).
Definitely worth stopping by if you are in the area or even driving a bit out of your way, if you are looking for some high quality used children’s and baby items.

I just tried to sell some of my son’s clothes and shoes here and they only took TWO items… for THREE DOLLARS. I totally understand that when you sell items, the value goes down quite a bit but that was ridiculous. I walked around the entire store and saw overpriced bottles and snack containers but then some of the most worn and ugly clothes. Seriously? I brought in barely worn converse and nike shoes plus a ton of shorts and shirts in great condition but they took none of it and when I asked why, the older woman (in her 50s?) barely looked me in the eye and didn’t really give me an answer… Wow. I’ll be sticking to Kym’s Kiddie Corner!

Clean. Used boy clothes reasonably priced and also good quality used clothes.

I’ve been going to Childish Things for a while. When faced with the prospect of a little bundle of joy that never stops growing, things got expensive in a hurry. Don’t get me wrong, over 60% of the things I buy are new. However, there are occasions when I simply want to buy quality, used goods for a decent price. Thrift stores are also an option but again, when focused on cheaper, quality goods, it’s hard to go wrong here. It’s a time saver for me because it’s less stock for me to go through in a hurry.
My most recent visit was to look for a pair of formal shoes for my little guy to wear to a wedding. I found a great pair of shoes but they were the wrong size. *sad face*
The used goods are not cheap — they’re a good deal. You can find quality used baby goods like clothes, diaper bags, slings, boppy pillows and the like for a fraction of the new price. I typically buy jeans there for my kiddo and am always on the hunt for a great pair of shoes. This is also a great place to buy hats! Hats are quite the rip off in my opinion and whether you are looking for a beanie, bonnet, or baseball cap, you’re sure to get a great deal.
In addition to used goods, there is a small selection of new baby goods. I don’t think I’ve seen anything new for older kids. I take that back — I have seen unopened, new games before.
Looking for maternity wear? Check, check. I wish I wouldn’t have known about this place when I needed clothes.
I’ve also sold clothes there. Yes, I know, I can sell them on Craigslist but I’m a lazy ass and honestly, I lack the patience to deal with folks. I bring items here, they look through them and either accept or reject. You can either take the rest of the goods with you or they have a donation bin. Done and done. If you accept store credit, you get a little more compared to cash. I always take credit because I know I’ll be buying stuff in the future.
Staff has always been efficient and kind to me. When I went in the other day, they were busy but that’s okay — I didn’t need anything since I knew exactly what I was looking for.
