Chocolat Vitale

Excellent little chocolate shop. I’ve been here a few times with my wife and the owner is very nice and recommends different drinking chocolates for us. She’s also let us sample a few different things. I like to try the high (greater than 70%) cocoa and her recommendations have been very helpful for getting ones that have a complex taste to match.

This place is fantastic. Cute shop with amazing coffee, chocolate, food, and much more. The owner is extremely accommodating, she offered some complimentary sipping chocolate drinks. They were AMAZING. So happy I found this place, I will definitely be back.

This place has the best expresso, drinking chocolates and sweets! We always stop here when we are in town and we can’t get enough of the great décor, tasty drinks and snacks! They have great furniture and artwork from local artists for sale too. We just went into today and they now have a luncheonette menu. The sandwiches were delicious! Janet, the owner, is fantastic and passionate about everything she has in the shop so you know you are getting only the best!

Love this place! From a casual stop by to get a yummy chocolate drink fix, or some scrumptious gifts, it always impresses. The owner is truly lovely and always makes the visit fun. I really enjoy the free samples and knowledge of local chocolatiers too.

Wonderful chocolates and education on them (admittedly the drinking chocolate is just not my thing, my friends loved it). Real passion to bring the best. We enjoyed a chocolate and wine pairing that was delish. Worth a visit.

BRAVO! Chocolate is the owner’s passion and she is wonderful at sharing it with anyone who walks in the door. What truffles she hand crafts! She wisely controls the quality by making chocolates in small batches. I have never found anything disappointing about the products she makes and all those wonderful items from others that she also provides. She really finds some amazing things. The customer service is only surpassed by the sincerity of the proprietor and the outstanding quality of her product. Chocolat Vitale is a real gem for Ballard and Greenwood and our hands-​down preferred source for the finest chocolates in Seattle.

I am just in this place. The owner is amazing at communicating her passion to her customers. My chocolate drink is amazing too. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone loving chocolate!

I passed by this place on my way to/​fro work on a regular basis for a long time. One day I finally stepped inside! With a great combination of retro furnishings, delicious drinking chocolate, house-​made caramels and Sat movie screenings, this place is eclectic and charming. Janet and Cam are fabulous hosts, very knowledgeable and generous with their time and expertise (s) Janet will not rest until she has fixed your chocolate JUST the way you like it. The Venezualan is my favorite. Her almond-​milk chocolate mousse is to die for. I stop in all the time now! Also a great place for wee gifties: small-​batch chocolates, Italian single-​source honey, cool cards, silk scarves, art books, hard-​time find candies, always a changing collection… I’m hooked!

Gem of a chocolate shop. Good chocolate bars. Real liquid chocolate, not the chocolate scented milk other places serve.
Nice wine, teas, coffee and treats to choose from.

We live just up the street, and have passed this place many times. We finally decided to walk down and check it out. Janet, the owner, is quite knowledgable about everything chocolate, and has some wonderful ideas if you are at all wavering on a decision. My husband and I hung around for a while, sipping delicious chocolate in this amazing little shop. DEFINITELY worth the stop. Oh! And they play movies there in the evening!

A true treat! Janet is awesome at both whipping up a wonderful cup of cocoa and also helping wrap a gift to perfection. I love this place.

This coffee/​tea/​chocolate shop is like a curiosity shop for chocolates from around the world, and it features mid century and vintage furniture pieces at every turn (many are for sale as well!). The owner is so nice and easy to chat with. She also has a great knowledge of all of her products and where they come from. You could come here for a drink or sweet on the go, but it’s best to choose something fun to snack on and sit for a bit to get away from the chaos of the day. 5 out of 5 stars!

What an elegant, comfortable little neighborhood spot ! Splendid coffee and extraordinary chocolate. The proprietor is low-​key and very welcoming. The space feels nurturing like a great yoga studio, but instead of exercise– chocolate! I’m so glad I happened on this spot.

I stumbled upon this place one day, and boy am I glad I did. I was hankering for a mocha, and the shop owner (?) asked me what kind of chocolate I like to eat to get an idea of which one of the mochas I would like the best – yes, there are several kinds! She nailed it. It was seriously the most delicious mocha I have ever had. It makes mochas at your standard chain coffee shops taste like absolute crap. These mochas are truly chocolate drinks with coffee. Not coffee with a bit of cocoa powder. If I could walk to this place I would be here every week. Try it!

The drinking chocolate is amazing! You can get it as light or dark as you want. Also serve small batch roasted coffee. Excellent customer service. Very friendly and also knowledgeable about the products they sell! They also offer delicious chocolate bars in an affordable price range. I’m officially addicted!

They make the BEST drinking chocolate (European Classic) I have ever had. Seriously, it will basically ruin all other hot/​drinking chocolates for you, which is a grand and marvelous delight. Their Euro Classic is like drinking heavenly rich Chocolate goodness. The staff and owners are super friendly and the entire store has a surprising vibe to it with ½ selling chocolate and the other half selling various unique household knickknacks and décor items. Can’t wait to go back for my pantry resupply of Euro Classic.

Hands down — best hot chocolate I’ve ever had! And what a fantastic little shop, very eclectic, with a little bit of everything from tea cups to gummy candies. There is an old brass cash register as well as other old art work that adds lush character to the shore. Along with the sweet smell of the brewing chocolate, you can’t help but feel as though you’re being whisked away to another time. A sweeter time…

This isn’t your usual Chocolate Shop. I loved it the moment I walked through the door. Janet, the owner, is a savvy chocolatier, an artist, and has created (along with her husband) a very charming place.
While we chatted I had a wonderful cup of Venezuelan Dark sipping chocolate and we shared a great conversation and passion for re-​purposing. Not only is there great European chocolate drinks they have a nice assortment of chocolates by Theo, Dick Taylor, and Dolceria Bonajuto, Sicily, and coffee by Velton’s.
Chocolat Vitale also showcases local artists with pieces for sale and a great selection of fun collectibles. The day I was here Janet showed me a collection of purses that were made from old 33 album covers. Hard to describe or explain, but I thought they were totally cool.
I love the neighborhood setting at NW 65^th and 3^rd Ave NW in Phinney Ridge and I’m looking forward to coming back.

We ordered sipping chocolate from here for our wedding as wedding favors. The owners are very communicative throughout the ordering manufacturing process. When we picked up the order we were able to sample some sipping chocolate in the shop.
We also bought some tea in the shop as well as soap they sell. It’s a very awesome, local store.
