I have only used the mail order options from the episcopal bookstore but must say the service has been extraordinary. usually, my order is received with two days and in excellent condition. i cannot rave about this store enough.

Some time ago I received a thoughtful gift that came from here: a beautifully bound prayer book and hymnal combination with my name embossed on the cover. It has been a treasured possession of mine, and is both useful and lovely. Several months ago, I wanted to give a similar gift to my partner, and I am pleased to report that the process of ordering(personalization, shipping, etc.) was personal, friendly, and efficient. This particular item is not cheap, but is worth every penny. Based on value and commitment to customer service, I’d certainly recommend the Episcopal Bookstore to anyone looking to buy this sort of merchandise.

I never thought I’d give five stars to a Christian bookstore but, wow, I love this place. I’m a convert to the Episcopal Church and one of the things that really attracted me was the importance of reasoning and questioning. This book store isn’t full of the mega-church evangelical pastors trying to make a quick buck through self-help books. The Episcopal Bookstore is chalked full of books that actually have scholarly merit. Topics include: Emerging Church, Prayer and Spirituality, Celtic Spirituality, Left-leaning books on LGBTQ people and the church(read: books that support LGBTQ people in the church), as well as a wide range of Bibles, Prayer Books, and Episcopal Resources. On top of their great book selection, they have a decent religious music section that is completely lacking in Christian pop, instead focusing on music that helps in spiritual practice, including Compline, Taize cd’s, and Hymnal music. They have a wall full of icons, a case of really pretty crosses and jewelry, and a wide selection of wall art. Besides having great selection for the left-leaning Christian, the Episcopal Bookstore is owned by a couple who have been so helpful and warm every time I go in. They have a policy where if you spend $ 200 you get $ 20 back(call to verify amount you get back), which is admirable for an Independent Bookstore. Their prices are reasonable, and you truly feel like they aren’t in it solely for the money. Next time you are on Stone Way, check out the Episcopal Bookstore(and then stroll across to RoRo’s for some yummy BBQ).

Nice to know the religious LEFT is alive and well. This little hole-in-the-wall on Stone Way has an eclectic selection of books & more for people interested in working on their spiritual life. In addition to the obvious, you’ll find anti-war materials, sacred art, and writings that are more generally about spiritual survival in our consumption-obsessed society.

A well stocked bookstore and more. Not just for local Episcopals. Worth a stop during the holiday season for unique gifts for those that are hard to shop for. I like finding these places!
