If you’re looking for a hat, you must stop in here! Henrietta has a great selection of hats, all very unique in their own way, for all different occasions and seasons. She was lovely, sweet, knowledgeable, and patient. I tried on one hat after another, she helped me put each one on, and really made me feel like she wanted me to find the perfect hat for me!

I wanted to get a hat to wear for a party and Henrietta was more than helpful. She made me sit down and really educated me on the art of wearing a hat. She was patient and extremely nice. The shop is not large but there is an excellent selection. If you need a hat for a special occassion or simply to complete an outfit Henrietta’s Hats is the place to shop.

When in First Grade at a school close to Henrietta Hats, my daughter’s class took a field trip to the store. To this day 20 some years later these adults know how and when to wear a hat. She is pretty and classy and her commitment to our schools and children is so appreciated.

Henrietta is wonderful!!! She had a solution for a hat that was too big & I ended up with gloves too– fabulous, fingerless, gathered gloves!!! Happy New Year to me & Henrietta! Very reasonable prices for a specialty store too!

If you haven’t ducked into Henrietta’s Hats at 2707 E Madison yet, you must go. Henrietta is absolutely lovely and has been a milliner for 27 years. If you meet her you will love her. Exactly the kind of shop that gives Seattle its local flavor. Go!

This is a Seattle secret! I was looking for a hat to wear to a Kentucky Derby party and was having no luck. I found a write up on line about Henrietta’s Hats and decide to check it out. This was a hat experience that turned in to almost a religious experience. I walked in the door and my mouth immediately fell open and I gasped. I have never seen so many beautiful hats in one place. They are pieces of art. All hand made, all beautiful and the best part of walking through that door… meeting Henrietta herself. What a lovely woman. She has an air about her that just makes you want to sit and visit with her for hours. I had gone with a friend and we let her know what we were looking for. She was gracious and let us know that her hats were probably more than we wanted to spend($ 100-$ 600) but please look around and try hats on. They are so beautiful that you don’t want to disturb them. Nor do you feel worthy of trying them on. Henrietta soon makes you comfortable, has you sitting in a chair and she is showing you how to put a hat on. Teaching you the proper etiquette. Telling you the history hats, telling you stories, how she got in the business, and her love of hats. She made suggestions and gave advice on how to build my own hat for my party. When I left this store I was ready to start wearing a beautiful hat every where I went! Getting dolled up in a lovely out fit with matching shoes, gloves, hat and handbag. I would love for Henrietta to give some sort of class on the old ways of making hats, the etiquette and her love of hats. I have always loved hats but after visiting Henrietta’s it awoke a desire that was bigger than I had ever imagined. It has been a few weeks since I was there and I’m still thinking about my visit there. If you have the opportunity to stop in here… don’t walk by! You won’t be sorry.

What an interesting store! Henrietta was so gracious as well. My friend and I went in to get ideas for a Kentucky Derby Party and she was so helpful. We told her her hats were too high end($ 100-$ 600) for what we needed them for, but she was so helpful anyway. Gave us some ideas, encouraged us to make our own hats — then she tried hats on us for an hour! It was such fun! Henrietta’s hats are like pieces of art, really beautiful and I really did feel like I was transported to another era when she put each one on my head. What a great way to spend an hour — plus we got some etiquette schooling as well. It seriously made me want to go out and burn all my sweats and jeans and start classin’ myself up! Truly a unique gem of a place!

Henrietta has been making hats for 25 years. This is definitely a unique store — and it’s been at the same location on Madison for two decades while everything around it has changed dramatically. Henrietta was off to help at the local school as a crossing guard when we showed up. She is a very sweet lady who is a master of her craft.
