I’m echoing other recent reviews that have noted how awful this place has become, from what it once was. Even the previously consistent and wonderful steak salad was not great tonight. Tonight: flavorless steak, on greens tossed with an overly vinegary dressing. Previously, the steak in this dish had been perfectly grilled and seasoned, and the salad itself had a great kick. Big disappointment now. We started off with the Brussels sprouts appetizer which turned out to be huge hunks of not great andouille sausage with soggy shredded sprouts. No small plates were offered. We just all ate out of the ramekin. Waitress was adorable and friendly but stretched thin. She was going to return to take my husband’s wine order, but did so only as he was sawing through his last bite of a very tough, under-cooked«medium» steak. No, thanks. Everything was just off here tonight. If you’re looking for a burger and draft beer, this is still probably a good bet. But it is no longer a gastropub with interesting and well-executed dishes, served professionally. Bye bye, Hudson. We won’t be back.

The husband and I swung by this evening for coffee/drinks/dessert. Was there a «Seat Yourself» sign? if so, I missed it. We finally sat ourselves after the lack of engagement by any of staff. No problem. Our waitress attended to us immediately with water, Rye Manhattan and coffee. Then came the pumpkin cobbler that was a huge disappointment. It is no exaggeration when I say it tasted like canned pumpkin purée with oats on top. The purée was c-c-c-cold in spots and hot in others. Bland, as in Gerber baby food bland. Husband enjoyed his Manhattan. Coffee wasn’t bad. Our waitress swung by to say good night and apparently didn’t let anyone know she had a table going. So we sat. And sat. And. .. you guessed it: sat. I finally got up and asked for the bill after it was obvious I wasn’t going to get a refill on the coffee and husband wasn’t going to be offered another drink. Someone’s not paying attention.

One of my favorite local restaurants! Always fresh local food with a great beer menu(I don’t even like beer that much). Get the fries!

We live within walking distance and Hudson had been one of our go-to places for as long as it’s been open. However, they recently changed the menu(and chef, I believe) and, sadly, we can no longer recommend eating here. Since the menu change, we’ve gone 4 times and have been disappointed each time. I’m bummed to be writing this review, but hope they will read it. What used to be a consistent and well-executed menu has been traded for fussier and creative fare that’s missing the mark. The pork cheeks were a tiny portion and the flavor was bland. The seafood and grits was a too-small portion as well and seemed like more cheese than anything else(grits are cheap — it can’t hurt to add a little more to the plate) and the shrimp was overcooked. Radicchio caesar salad was overly charred and didn’t really taste like caesar dressing… more like a balsamic dressing. And our bread pudding was cold in the middle, although the flavor was nice. While it can be a good thing to take risks and be creative with food, how about you limit it to a few items on the menu — and see how they do — instead of most items? Hudson used to be a comfy, family-friendly neighborhood joint with a definite step up from regular pub fare. Until recently, we met up with friends here often, but now, it’s no one’s first choice anymore. We sincerely hope they can make the menu more accessible and consistent again because we want them to succeed. Until then, we will have to find another place to frequent.

I’ve been wanting to like this pub for years, but ultimately I am always disappointed. The best way to describe the service is awkward. The staff doesn’t seem to have any training or supervision. I’ve never seen a manager, and the entire staff just seems completely clueless on customer service 101. They spend plenty of time talking and socializing with each other, but they go out of there way NOT to chat or make eye contact with customers. I realize that this is a casual local pub, and I’m not expecting 4 star service. What I am expecting are staff that can at least smile and act friendly towards it’s customers. The food is o.k., but it is a bit overpriced, small portions, and everything is a la carte. They have daily specials, but the staff never tells you what they are. You have to travel to a dark spot in the corner of the building to read the chalk board. It seems that they have some type of happy hour, but it’s not clear how and when it works. The last few years I’ve noticed that this pub is getting fewer and fewer customers. I suspect they will not be able to sustain themselves against the competition and will shutter their doors soon.

What is going on? Three servers, all making drinks, badly, including a very poorly made drink that was missing one of its two ingredients and was watery. Minimal interaction with the customers: I sat at the bar for 5 minutes without any acknowledgement of my existence. No napkins with the appetizer which needed them. Is there a manager? Is anyone training these people and keeping an eye on them? Please, please, fix these staffing problems. I miss Asron. I’m a long time customer but this is the harbonger of doom.

Best burger of my life! The truffle fries are amazing. I recommend the milk stout. It is very smooth and delicious. The iced tea is good too! Comfortable setting. I wish they had a happy hour food menu. We stayed anyways, and I’m glad we did. The food was great!

Nice atmosphere, service and solid food that is not pretentious. A good beer selection on tap.

Hudson Public House is a great neighborhood spot. The food far exceeds my expectations of «pub food.» I have had everything from well prepared scallops to truffle fries here, and it has all been delicious. The service is consistently upbeat and efficient. I am so glad I live close by!

I have been here several times since my original visit and review, I have been consistently impressed with the attention to detail, and to fresh, quality ingredients always prepared well. In addition to the delicious, juicy burger,(add that $ 1 bacon, totally worth it!) I have tried the hangar steak salad which was delicious and perfectly dressed, the sausage sandwich which was tasty and the Mac and Cheese, which they sadly have removed from their menu. Consistency has been the key word at Hudson, from service to food to a fantastic rotating beer selection, I have zero complaints and many reasons to return. Oh yeah they put a sign at the entrance that says, «please seat yourself» for awkward people like me. Bonus.

Great local pub — slightly pricier than the other similar restaurants I’ve been to but the food/beer is good. The steak salad is one of the best I’ve had and the burgers/fries are great too. Parking is fairly convenient in the small lot between it and Pagliacci’s.

It is our neighborhood go to place for happy hour and we can never pass up the truffle fries. The brussel sprouts are pretty awesome also. Yum.

Finally got a chance to try the Hudson. It’s a very nice place with lot’s of parking in the back lot. They had a full bar and a rotating selection of beer on tap, including some stuff I’ve never tried before. The bartenders were very friendly and had some good suggestions about what to try. As far as the food goes the menu isn’t huge but has a interesting array of choices. I had the scallops which were very tasty even though they’re not usually my first choice. Unlike a lot of restaurants these guys actually know how to cook pasta, perfectly done and not mushy at all. The food isn’t cheap but I’d say the quality/portion size make it well worth it. I’d definitely eat here again!

Great beer and food, which is why I continue to go. BUT can these people get a training in etiquette? Maybe because I’m from the South, but when you need to close and you only have two customers left, go up and talk to them like human beings. «Hey, I’m so sorry but I have to close.» NOT flashing lights off. And when you take an order, act like you care, «How are you doing tonight? What can I get you? I see you have Seahawks shirt on, did you go to the parade today?» People that work in bars should know how to dialogue and like people. I am always disappointed in the lack of friendliness by most of the people working here.

We live a few blocks from Hudson, and keep coming back because I want nothing more than for it to be a «regular» spot for us. The food has been pretty great actually, and I like the feel of the spot in general. But the service… oh man. We’ve eaten here 3 times, and tried to give the servers the benefit of the doubt each time, but I think we just need to accept that the service here is kind of the worst. My boyfriend and I sat at a table this evening, but had to go to the bar to order drinks, reorder drinks, and ask for the check, and then pay the check. Aside from that, our waitress just seemed super mad that she had to wait on us. Again, I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, and maybe she was having a tough night, but it didn’t bode well for our third try at the service here. Poor service does not outweigh pretty good food. We’re moving on…

Pretty good food, so-so beer list, lame AWOL blonde server who did the bare minimum service and then tacked on an undeserved 18% gratuity.

Fantastic local joint that we go to as often as we can. The truffle fries never disappoint and the rotating taps keep the beers fresh and interesting. The burger is a go to but I also like the steak salad. Definitely recommend this place for a drinks or dinner.

Not sure what’s going on @ Hudson. We’ve been there 3 times in the past 3 months and would like to be regulars in such a nice atmosphere but I don’t think we can be friends. First visit the hamburger just tasted off and was overdone twice(med rare please). The steak was borderline but the fries were perfect. 2nd visit was actually pretty good but this recent night took the cake… the Mac n Cheese tasted ok but the panko on top was so crunchy that it felt like chewing broken glass. It was much better without it on the redo. I had the lamb. Way overdone! The mashed potatoes I subbed weren’t even hot and the eggplant nearly raw and served with a weird sauce that didn’t pair with the rest on the plate. Redone, the lamb was closer to the med rare ordered and eggplant almost cooked. Taters were better. They do have a good beer selection though. Cocktails are well made and the wine was ok. I have a hard time with the fact that things need to be redone sometimes twice. Guess I should mention that we are both experienced eaters and excellent cooks — actually my man has been a chef all over the U.S. for over 30 years. We know food. This can’t be good for your bottom line, Seth. Service varies too. It has been good up at the bar. Taylor is attentive and concerned when things aren’t right, but last visit the server adjusted her shoes in the dining area and went back to service without first washing up. Then when asked to make the food right, got very sassy. I think the Elliott Bay Brewing in Lake City has better food!

Sad– the service at this place has definitely gone down hill. We came in last night for a few drinks and dinner and were very disappointed. Not a busy night– and three women working the place. We seated ourselves by the bar and were ignored for ten minutes. One of the waitresses looked right over my head and then started picking at her nails before wandering back behind the bar to organize glasses. We decided to move to another table closer to other people(mind you this is not a large place) thinking that if we were close to other patrons we might be noticed. Eventually they decided to take our drink orders but then spent the rest of the evening trying to rush us through our meal to empty their already half empty bar. Waitress wanted us to order our drinks, apps and dinners all at once and came back a few times to ask us if we were«ready yet» to order dinner. Finally just gave in and ordered dinner so she would leave us alone. Our bill came with a charge for bread that we never got. Lame. The women hear appear to be bored and don’t take service or their jobs seriously.

The food is good, service is terrible. No one greeted us at the door. We sat at a table that was not set– I had to grab a napkin from a pile that happened to be behind my head. Our server seemed to not like us– she never introduced herself or bothered to check on us. No one ever refilled our water. My beet«salad» was more like a stack of beets with three arugula leaves on the side. It was good, but calling it a salad is mis-labeling it. The strawberry rhubarb desert was exceptional except for the fact that it burned my tongue. The food is good, service is terrible.
