Nothing outstanding about the service or food here, but they do try to give the pub feel and that’s worth three stars right there.

A few days after a «shots fired» incident one evening out in front of the building and in the back alley, the«Emigrant» closed — possibly for good. As of this writing it is sitting empty. New bar coming to the Old Irish Emigrant. The Rat and Raven appears to be the new name. I talked to some contractors working inside the building and it seems that it will be an English Pub. Looks like they are doing some build out on the space and making it look nice — so the neighborhood could get a nice new pub in the near future.

I used to like this place a lot more but, every time I’ve been there lately I’ve been disappointed. They have quite a different bar staff now which I think contributes. Pretty average in every way. Tuesday night is their busy night(random, I know), but it is because of Mug Club which use to be a good deal and is now just regularly priced beer in a plastic mug(classy).

15 $ cover if you are not a UW student hellla hot and crowed dance floor. drinks are cheap and you get a little more than what you paid for so thats what makes it better… dj was horrible and music was too loud for their speakers so everything was distorted

So two years ago when I moved to Seattle this was a pretty good place to go and drink. I went back last night and I’d I have to say this place has gone to shit. It has become a real dump. The pool tables that weren’t being used to store dirty drink glasses were broken. They had Karaōke but none of the songs were in English, making me think they are starting to gear towards a different crowd now. If you wanted to play darts there were three very used darts all of different sizes. Also I think Kelly’s on 3rd and Bell where all the crack heads hang out has a more Irish feel then this place. It’s sad to see this place looking so run down. If you are in the area there are better bars where you can spend your money.

One of my two favorite bars to go to. They’ve always been a pretty cool place to hang out, conveniently close to the U, and with good food at a good price for happy hour.(Always loved the fries, the cheeseburger, and the hearty beef stew.) It’s been really odd this last year, as the place always used to be busy, no matter when I went, no matter what time. These days, it’s been pretty empty. There would usually only be a few people right at the bar… Going upstairs is almost pretty much out of the question, as they wouldn’t even realize you existed up there. But the bartenders have still been really good to us — very friendly, and as attentive as they can be when they have to take care of at-bar customers as well as the tables when the regular server is absent. Four stars are for the great times I’ve had at the Emigrant. I’ve never had a bad experience. And the fries — they’re still made out of potatoes. It’s all good.

This was my go-to bar in college. It’s the first bar I went to after turning twenty-one and it’s the one I went to the most often. I got to know the bartenders(none of whom, to my knowledge, still work there) and one even made me what, for a time, became my «signature drink.» Then I kind of stopped going. I wasn’t in the area as often and, as Mike C. put it in his review, «it’s a shame to see a popular Irish Pub with great food turn into a frat bar known for its plastic mug Tuesdays,» which is exactly what’s happened in the past few years.

I live a block away from the emigrant, so sometimes it’s just the place to go. I wouldn’t make a night out of going to this place though. The only really fun time to go is Tuesdays for Mug Club, when the beer is a dollar(if you cough up the $ 4 or whatever to buy the mug). It’s fun to dance with your girlfriends but it’s not like THETHING or anything… and if it is THETHING in your life then you need to branch out baby.

Nothing to noteworthy about this place, I went in for happy hour and to meet up with some friends. The food was distantly edible, and inexpensive. I am not fond of returning anytime soon.

Yuck. My man warned me of the bleach-wreaking stench of the place. Sure-nuf, it smelled like an over-cleaned roller skating rink. The bartender’s name was ‘K.Y.’…ya, I’ll say no more. The restaurant area looked like a small-town diner with the formica table tops and high booth seats. The bar was ok-looking, but not well-kept. I did like the central seating area which was one long booth and table. They had tv’s for sports, of course, but nothing spectacular. I know people who go here regularly after Rugby games, but that’s because the older boys want to drink but there are underage players so this is their spot until the underagers depart and the big guys go to Paddy Coyne’s afterward. It’s a typical low-grade ‘Irish’ bar run by Asians now(which it didn’t used to be, I know it was better when an Irishman ran it). And it’s stuck in the U-District area. Not my kind of joint.

This used to be a hot spot for my friends and I about 7 years ago. We would hit trivia night during the week, and it was always our«go-to» bar on weekend nights. Since we were regulars Pat(the owner) and the waitstaff always remembered our names and seemed pleased to see us when we arrived. They have a large contingency of Irish folk who frequent the bar who are always fun to talk with — and a bunch of regulars as well. The bar started getting over run with«frat holes» and«sorostitutes» and we got older — so I haven’t been to the Emigrant in awhile. But it really does hold some great memories for me.

I enjoy the Emigrant. good Irish beer, live Irish music and shepherd’s pie, which was a bit on the meaty side but great if you’re in the mood for meat. Large tables, good for groups. It’s the kind of bar I like– laid back and similar to an actual Irish Pub, though much larger. Plenty of interesting wall reading in the ladies room. Pleasant servers. It works for me.

I like this place for a number of important reasons. It has booths and tables. It has an upstairs. It has 2 bars(one up, one down). It has 2 real dart boards! I love going to a place and finding that they have real cork boards. I like darts regardless, but I really love it when I can get drunk off of inexpensive pitchers of Stella and throw steel tipped darts at a wall. They do have some good live music from time to time. Like one of the other reviewers said, I have heard this place can be pretty«meatheady» but in the roughly 5 times I have been there I haven’t really noticed it. 4.2

Only been here for happy hour, but that is all I need to keep coming back! The hamburger keeps changing, but it is always stellar. The rest of the HH menu is good, but the burger is a winner. HH hour is alway deserted, but I guess this place gets pretty lively on the weekends, it is in the U District after all.

They frequently have live music but it’s often to loud to talk over(the upstair balcony is a bit quieter). Daily $ 1 drink specials make it very temping on the walk home from class. The waitresses are super hot but it’s often packed full of rowdy over-testosteroned boys(probably because it’s right next to Greek Row). They keep special hours during the World Cup so you can watch Ireland play live.

My favorite bar on the Ave. Oh, many a night was spent getting mind-numbingly drunk here. Many a night was also spent listening to great cover bands(Kennedy Brothers — really great 2 man band) and authentic Irish bands… while getting mind-numbingly drunk here. If you go on your birthday you get a free t-shirt and, really, what more do you need on your birthday?

An Irish bar with something for everyone, any day of the week. Their daily happy hour, from 4−7pm, offers delicious bar fare at exceptional prices. With 2 or 3 different drink specials a night, everyone visiting this UDistrict bar can have a great drink at a great price! Johnny 5 is back on Thursdays! If you haven’t been to the Irish Emigrant on Thursday nights to see Johnny 5 perform, you are missing out on the most wild and fun night of the week! Although Thursdays can get a little rambunctious, other nights of the week are more tame and offer a great taste of Ireland for everyone!

It’s Irish EMIGRANT, not Immigrant. Great bar. This place even has kareoke! They’ve been serving Seattle for over 6yrs. They have something going on everyday of the week. Check out their web site: Open 7 days per week Monday through Thursday, 4pm — 2am. Friday, 3pm — 2am. Saturday and Sunday, 11am — 2am.
