It’s seriously messed up here. The menu has Mexican dishes and there’s Mexican art on the walls. So what kind of music are they playing: Motown! We ordered the chilaquiles and the huevos con chorizo. The scorched and dried-out flour tortillas came in an uncovered wicker basket. That is so wrong! The tortilla strips in the chilaquiles were soggy. The huevos con chorizo was adequate, but it’s pretty damn hard to screw up huevos con chorizo. No coffee refills were offered. I’m not feeling any love for the Java Love Café and won’t be back.

I really miss this neighborhood spot ever since I moved away. Every weekend I would crave their huevos con chorizo. So delicious! The happy hour menu is cheap and yummy, and you have not lived til you’ve tried their pomegranate margaritas. My favorite part though is how nice the people are, and the general friendly neighborhood atmosphere. I love Java Love!

I have so far only been here for brunch. It is great! They serve you delicious coffee in gigantic bowl-like mugs. The breakfasts are very authentic. I don’t eat meat, so not sure about the machaca or chorizo. But the huevos mexicanos, the chilaquiles, potatoes, beans & corn tortillas are great, simple, delicious, and just like the ones I’m served in Mexico. Also, although they can be busy, I have never had to wait for a table, and they have sidewalk seating if the weather is nice. The prices are low — $ 5 to $ 8 per dish, and I always leave feeling satisfied. The space is small, and can feel cramped if it is very busy. This is somewhat alleviated by the fact that the place gets lots of light, and they often open the windows for fresh air. I am very excited to work Java Love into lunch or dinner time.

Baja Bistro/Java Love is a fantastic, authenic, Baja Mexican hole in the wall restaraunt, coffee shop and bar. They pour strong drinks, make fresh, delicious food and have good espresso. Their enchiladas en mole are fantastic and, for the vegetarians, the tacos de papa are also quite good. They make their tortillas by hand. The brothers who started this business have built it on love with a lot of family interaction and creativity. They turned a seemingly useless space into a great, Beacon Hill eatery.

Now known as the Amorcito Lounge, it’s the new tastemakers spot for sure. I don’t know anything about it’s previous incarnation, but late night this little bar kills it. Onika will destroy you with a few margarita libations, or one.

I love: the staff, the happy hour, the coffee, the food… This place was one of my favorite parts of living on North Beacon Hill. Sure, there are basically no other coffee places in the area, but this one could definitely compete with some of the snootier places on Capitol Hill. It’s an ideal location for rainy day book reading or catching up with friends, and the owner is a lovely human.

I love indie coffee shops and do my very best to keep them around. Especially, when it is in my hood. The coffee is good, but I the service is slow. I would give it 4 stars, but my pet peeve is they give you a 9 oz. cup when it’s advertised as a 12 oz. Yes. it’s only 3 oz. of hot water for my Americano. But damn. call it what it is. So. i agree with L. Edlub W. I am conflicted on this place.

Yeah — I really wish that I could come up with 5 for this place. The location is good, they are filling a coffee shop hole on North Beacon Hill nicely, it’s a neat space, and serve Mexican that seems like it might be good just based on the menu. They serve Vita, they grind and pull it right — tasty enough, no complaints. It’s the kind of place I love to gush about reallly… but… The barista was a whoooore. That’s right — a whooooore. She was very put out by our order of two quad Americanos(for the love of Christ! we are so sorry for asking you to do, what? your freaking job, that’s what!!) and then just refused to understand what I meant by all ice, no water. «But it’s an Americano.» she actually had the stones to argue. «Yes I know, and when you pour hot coffee over ice, it melts and becomes water, thereby satisfying the water requirement of the Americano recipe.» I quickly retorted… ok, I wasn’t that articulate, I mumbled something about science and turned away before I said something that would get me a loogy in my Joe. The Starbuckian drones get it — what’s up??? I hear the brothers that own the place are really great — some advice to you my friends — fire the whooooore. I will be back.

I’m so conflicted… This place is charming. The coffee is great. The people are friendly. The food is… average. And average is probably being a little kind. My huevos con machaca were dry and stringy. The beef had the texture of pot roast left out on the counter for too long. The eggs had no life left in them. Fortunately, once I put them in a tortilla with some beans and hot sauce, they were edible, but not fabulous. I really hope I just caught them on an off day. It’s such a neat little place. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

This place is one of the greatest aspects of living on north beacon hill, they’re like family. Very cozy and a very nice selection of drinks and food. If you’re a Spanish speaker you’ll feel very welcome too as most all of them speak Spanish well.

This is the coffee shop that is connected to the Baja Bistro. With the inclusion of the coffee shop, mexican food and full bar, in an unsuspecting neighborhood gives this place its relaxed charm.
