Dropped in to meet up with an ex-Seattleite who was back in town visiting, after being given the run-around multiple times as she and her group were deciding on a restaurant. Going with my usual baseline, I ordered a green chicken curry from what I recall to be a fairly extensive menu. And surprise! The curry was actually reasonably spicy, which is more than I can say about the other Thai restaurants in the city. But, that was about the only notable thing, because otherwise, it was just okay Thai food. $ 10 puts it a little bit on the pricier end of things, but the serving sizes were pretty good. The place was pretty empty when I showed up as well, with our party being the only ones there, but I do seem to recall that it was a bit of an off time(an early dinner, probably).

Will they stay or will they go? I love me some good Thai, and this place fits the bill nicely. Always quick to seat us, polite servers and very good food. Being that these places always seem to come and go so quickly, we’re hoping they’ll stick around a while, but won’t count on it. The last time I was here, it was Thai Chile, or something to that effect.

I really really really liked the waiter. He was totally making the best of a difficult situation: late night, working solo, lotta people. A good sense of humor can go a long way. Food was sub-par, prepared in a slap-dashed fashion with no regard to spice requests. We had a pretty long wait, but since this poor chap was working solo, I can totally tolerate it. 2 orders of Tom Ka were placed… one not spicy, one spectacularly spicy. Both were bland and tasteless. Can’t complain about the happy hour prices, though! Methinks next time I’ll skip the entrees and order exclusively from the happy hour menu, and drink some cocktails while I’m at it. I think that will smooth out a few of the wrinkles in the dinner. To summarize: Very slow but enjoyable service, reasonable prices but mediocre quality. I wouldn’t take anyone here on a first date, or to wow them with my dazzling taste in Thai places, but I might show up after a concert with some drunk buddies and chow down… and leave a reasonable tip:)

I have mixed feelings about this place. The food was good for what I expected. I rarely go into Thai places with super high expectations — I find they are either amazing or fall flat so I start in the middle. The food here is probably 4 stars worthy, if attention is paid. Our waiter on the night we came was completely distracted or just crappy at his job. Our appetizers were forgotten and came out after our main dishes. It took forever to get refills and order. My dish was supposed to be 3 stars but tasted more like 2. My dining companion who ordered 2, said hers tasted like 3 stars. I’m going to attribute the mix-up to the waiter and his lack of attention. The dishes themselves were pretty good though. The prices were fair and I’d like to give this place another try when I’m on the Hill.

There are too many Thai restaurants in Seattle. I can count four others within three blocks of Jup Jup Jup. Jup Jup Jup stands out, however. The interior is clean and inviting, the menu actually has unique items compared to the other four Thai restaurants as they have more of a fusion thing going on, plus if you order from the vegetarian menu, it’s cheaper than the meaty items which is how it should always be. I’ve been here a couple of times now and I particularly liked the sweet and sour chicken which had lychees in it, and also the vegetarian mango chili fried rice with huge mango chunks in it.

2 words: FOODCOMA. The phad thai is amazing, the staff are amazing, the restaurant is amazing and most importantly, the prices are amazing! It’s a chill place to hang and fix your thai craving w/o breaking the bank. Happy hour is a plus!

If you want non-traditional thai food, you’ve come to the right place. The Staff is friendly, the servings are big enough to share. Everything I’ve ordered has been yummy!

I never realized ownership of this place had changed — we moved out of the hood a few years ago but one night, while thinking about what to eat my wife suggested Thai. Our preference is usually AyutthayaThai on Pike but since that place was zoo, we headed down Broadway to find this gem. The food is STILL good and very reasonably priced. Ambiance could use a little work but overall very satisfied.

Jup Jup Jup. Sing it with me! Jup Jup Jup. So fun. How does a Thai joint standout on Broadway? How about cheap, fast and yummy. Like me! We had sweet and sour chicken and pud see ew. Both dishes were very yummy. Staff is attentive and friendly. Hot damn I think we got us a Thai place here, Honey!

It’s been forever since I’ve wanted to try Jup Jup Jup. I finally had the opportunity when I found a $ 12 off coupon from the Entertainment book. I got their Honey Glazed Spare Ribs where the ribs are slathered in wild honey and sweet chili sauce. I like the sauce, but the ribs itself were not cooked long enough for it to be tender and fall off the bone. it took a lot of effort to rip the meat off of the bones. However, I do like the fact that they provide the option of either jasmine or brown rice! For a drink, I got the Tokyo Tea, which contains 5 types of liquor(Gin, Vodka, Midori, Rum, and Tequila) for only $ 5!!! While I’m not sure how enthusiastic I am about their short ribs, I can easily say that I know I will be back for Happy Hour. Cheap drinks and delicious crab rangoon sounds perfect for that pick-me-up right after a long hard day after work.

I at in this location a few years ago, back when it was Thai Go(I think) so I had wanted to check out Jup Jup Jup for awhile. I was in the mood for some Thai and the boy and I had a coupon(which we forgot to even bring with us — oops) so we hit JJJ up on Friday. The place is pretty cute — lots of tables in front and a bar area/kitchen in back. I really like the lights above the doorway area and kind of wanted to steal them for my apartment. We went around 8:30 on Friday, so there were only a few other tables(but in the hour or so we were there, a LOT more people came in), and for some reason… only one guy working. He was acting as both host AND server, but he was very nice. We got our table, we flipped through the menu, and we ordered. I chose my old standby, Pad Thai with tofu — ONESTAR. Apparently, «one star» here does not mean what«one star» means everywhere else. It was SPICY. Like, «take one bite and your mouth burns for 15 minutes» spicy. I tried to suck it up, but I’m pretty sensitive to spice as it is(and this was actually spicy — my boyfriend tried it as well and agreed with me) and eventually gave up. Yes, we are both big babies, but seriously. ONESTAR, people! I hemmed and hawed a bit before deciding to tell the server. Of course, because he was acting as host and server to all the tables(and was in the back room for a lot of the time), it took about 30 minutes before he came back to our table. He was very nice about it and apologized, saying sometimes the cooks might apply spices a little too liberally(judging by the excess of chili flakes in my pad Thai, I’d say so!) and brought me another dish with NO spice. The no-spice dish was lovely, MUCH more palatable for me, and came out super quickly. The server gave us a few dollars off the bill as well. In a perfect world, my one-star pad Thai wouldn’t have tasted like three stars and there would’ve been more than one server so someone checked on our table a little more often. HOWEVER, this is the real world, and our server was very friendly, my non-mouth-burning pad Thai was really good, and my boyfriend enjoyed whatever it was he’d ordered. I’ll definitely come back, but I’ll make sure to specify NO spice next time to avoid this whole ordeal!

I dislike Thai food, generally speaking. But I love Jup Jup Jup! I was blown away by their won ton noodle soup. It’s only $ 5.95 and comes in a gigantic bowl bigger than my face. The broth was incredibly flavorful and had great depth. The egg noodles were cooked perfectly, the bok choy was generous and sliced so that you can actually fit it in your mouth(unlike Chinese restaurants that leave it whole). The won tons themselves were pretty good, though it seemed more chicken-y then shrimp-y. I supplemented my soup with an array of pickled Thai chiles and jalapenos they have at every table. This was the perfect meal for someone home sick from work. Their green curry is also outstanding. I HATEHATE coconut milk, and by extension, almost all Thai curries. But Jup Jup’s green curry isn’t super coconut-y for some reason. It’s rich and creamy, but doesn’t taste like a bottle of suntan lotion. The tom yum gai soup was only so-so. Kind of bland, yet really heavy on the lemongrass, if that makes any sense… I’ll be back for sure.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This was absolutely the WORST service I have ever had in my entire life. I went there on a weekday afternoon, around 2 or so. There were only 2 other tables that had customers, yet we still received god awful service why? We ordered our food which was okay. Certainly not the best tofu phad Thai I have ever had. It lacked on any sauce and the noodles were slightly undercooked. Our waitress never once looked us in the eye. I know that seems ridiculous to be upset about, but it’s a matter of professionalism. She didn’t smile and just had an attitude like she really hated her job, and when someone helping you has that kind of attitude it imprints onto you and can bring you down. Anyways, we never had her come back to fill up our water or ask us how we were doing. So we paid our bill and she asked us «do you need the change?» We replied kindly«no» and she took off to cash it out. We finished our Thai iced tea(which was actually alright) and as we were getting up to leave she came back and tossed the change on our table and said«keep your change» and walked away. Wtf? Really? I know the tip was less than a dollar, but our total was only like 12 dollars AND the service sucked. I have worked in the food industry and I know that any tip is money in your pocket, but to actually come back, say something snarky and leave? Wow. Unreal. I have never been so upset over an eating experience in my entire life. I am a very easy going guy and love to write up positive reviews for resturaunts that earn it, but I will never ever return to Jup Jup Jup after that service.

Stay away from their soups. I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago and I ordered the Tom Yum mushroom soup and it was ridiculously sour. Normally I LIKE sour/citrusy foods but this was over the top. I kind of wished I was carrying a pH strip with me to see how acidic that soup was. My soup wasn’t the only one like this, my friend ordered a different soup and it was definitely too sour for anyone. My other friend ordered a wonton soup and that seemed pleasant. I’m rating this based on MY dish, I’m sure(hopefully) they have better dishes in there.

Please note: the 4 star rating is only for the quality of the food. I had panag curry w/chicken(3 star spicy) and it ROCKED! even at 3 star it was pretty darn spicy. Before going here i read the reviews about the service and had my guard up. Sure enough the service was terrible. They deserve a 2 star based on the service alone. They appeared understaffed as only one white girl was running around taking orders and seatting people. It took a while to get my water and when it arrived it had a fly swimming in it and lip stick marks on the glass. Thankfully she didn’t complain when i pointed it out to her and brought me a new glass. She apologized and told me their other server was out. The decore is super cute and there were enough people still inside to justify going in. I’ll most likely go back but I won’t be suprised when the service still sucks.

I have walked by this place and kinda just kept on going. It looks like strip mall fast food. However, on the inside the vibe is a little nicer than that. A brick wall with a decent enough mural and seating that although not fancy is also not McDonald’s. Its comfortable. I ordered the chicken phad Thai to go and had prompt friendly service. They also understand that when you ask for extra of something it means your insane and want a ton of it. I like that! «Extra peanuts please» BLAM! Extra nutz. Most of the time I think the chef just thinks thoughts about peanuts while sprinkling the same amount on my peanut starved thai. These guys know to actually follow through and deliver. Where they don’t have the same vibe and restaurant feel as Jai Thai they make up for in taste. I will be back to try out the curry.

«Jup» is apparently pronounced«Joop» and is the Thai word for kiss… or, well, at least that’s what the board outside says! So the restaurant name is «Kiss Kiss Kiss»? Alrighty then… I’m pretty sure this is the THIRD Thai place in that location in just the span of about 4 – 5 years. I think that’s strange… but, no matter. I was hungry and it was lunch-time so I decided to check out the newest incarnation. My experience? The service was great(friendly, water refills) and the $ 3.95 cup of Thom Kha soup was… very filling and a good price, but flavor-wise it was just a-ok. They also randomly delivered an interesting little bite-sized food item(see photo) on my table that I kind of enjoyed. I think I’ll go with Michelle and say Jup Jup Jup is mediocre. Three mediocre kisses? Hmm. SAD! ps: Cool sink in the women’s bathroom!

I hate to say it, but we were those A-holes. You know the ones, coming in a little over a quarter before closing. Our server smiled, and whisked us away to our table assuring us that there was no need to worry about the time. He prefaced our visit by letting us know that he was the only server working at the moment and that there might be a slight delay. I might be the jerk coming in before closing by I am not the inpatient jerk, especially when the service is kind enough to let me know the situation. I like being in the know. Looking back, it didn’t take very long for us to get our food and service was on point. The disclaimer was really unnecessary, on a well staffed night they must be like clockwork. I ordered the Pad Thai with Tofu, with a spicy level of 4(your options are 1 – 4). As an omnivore I think I am a bit more critical on tofu. It can’t be too hard. or to soft. It has to be just right, which is how Jup Jup Jup prepared it. It could’ve been a tad bit more spicy but that’s what spice racks are for right? If you’re a spicy fan, just go for level for 4. The Pad Thai came in an obscenely large bowl, which i loved! it made me feel fancy and prevented me from dropping food all over the table which comes in hands for my sloppy ass. You can tell that Jup Jup Jup really appreciates your business which I love. Our server must have told us at least 3 times to add them on Facebook as to keep up on the deals and happy hour updates. I haven’t, but if I lived in Seattle I would because this would undoubtedly be my hot Thai date spot.

Why three Jups in a row? What does Jup mean? I have decided that it means star and that they have named this restaurant three star Thai which seems fair. The owners are the same people who own Racha Thai in Queen Anne. So, it goes to reason that if you like Racha you will like Jup Jup Jup. I have decided Racha means mediocre. The menu seems relatively promising until you start to realize that there are very few traditional Thai dishes on the menu. I’m all for pushing the palette, but like to have a few safe options to fall back upon. My fallback was the Tom Ka Gai coconut soup which looked good with fancy mushrooms replacing the white button mushrooms and red onion swimming in the bowl instead of the usual yellow onion. But, as we all know, looks can be deceiving, and this soup deceived me. The broth was fairly one note, and the cubed chicken seemed to have been poached in water and added to the broth after the fact which resulted in absolutely flavorless chicken. The rest of the dishes seemed to follow suit. Overreaching with fusion this and non-traditional that. Perhaps I was there on an off night. I overheard a server tell another table that the chef is only in on weeknights so I’ll report back mid-week and let you all know if Jup really means yum!

I’m always concerned when a business changes hands once. But twice? I had dinner at Jup x3 tonight. The décor was cute(as it’s the same as when it was Chili Basil and even way back when it was Thai Go.) Instead of walking all the way to Rom Mai Thai or even Jai Thai, I got lazy and ducked into this ‘new’ spot. I was glad to check it out because if it were better than my other regular spots, it’d also be closer to where I live. The food wasn’t bad but it certainly wasn’t anything to write home about. I was really impressed that the chef herself came out to greet the guests but it was the only thing that was memorable about the 30 minutes I was there. The service was fast and efficient, the staff was friendly and the food was A-OK. If you’re in a rush or you can’t walk another two-three blocks, this is a great spot for some decent Thai.
