Stop #3 on a reunion crawl with an old friend. We walked in on Monday, January 18th. Sat at the bar for a round of drinks. They have a decent selection of whiskeys and scotches from what I remember. I believe I got a Glenfiddich here? The bartenders are nice and I liked the atmosphere. Dark and kinda divey which was perfect as my friend and I used to go to dive bars all the time. I believe they also have games in the back: shuffleboard, darts, pac man, etc, but we never had the chance to play anything. Good stop if you’re in Belltown. Especially if you’re craving tiki drinks.

The drink: I wanted to like the drink(hot tramp) BUT I did not taste any alcohol, mostly pineapple juice. Service: We waited at the bar for a long while trying to get the bartender’s attention. At that point, I thought I should be a little louder for her to hear me(I really wanted a drink) I finally got her attention and I was ABSOLUTELY astonished that she rolled her eyes and whispered«ugh» under her breath. I understand very well that this was a busy bar, however I expect at least decent service if I’m about to spend money at your establishment! That is a given. I would never go back to this place again while sober!

Not a bad place to check out and grab a quick drink. Their décor is definitely interesting and fun. The bartender was super nice. It was fun to play the shuffleboard they have. Any bar with games is always more interesting. They also have darts and other arcade games.

After playing a show up the road at The Crocodile my band and crew were looking for a great place to blow off steam for the last evening of tour. A local security guard guided us to Lava Lounge and we are so glad he did! A very cool dive bar with amazing wall art, fooseball table and cheap drinks this is definitely a legit cool bar and a GREAT place to party in Seattle!

Your standard dive bar minus the gross dark corners. Comes with some arcade games including a sit-down Ms. Pac-Man which was legit.

Pretty average joint. Feels like you are in the hull of a ship. It is pretty dark inside. The drinks are decent prices and they have darts, video games and a chode shuffleboard table. I went on a Wednesday night and it had an alright amount of people. No one was really social but hey tiss their own. I will give it another try one of these weekends. Oh and it sells pitchers.

Nothing like Happy Hour’n during the week! Came here on a weekday with some coworkers, totally laid back place, grungy-ish, divey and tiki! What a great combo! Good amount of draft beers, good liquor selection, some Happy Hour specials, but we just arrived at the end of it, but prices were fine. We were a little hungry later, not much of any food selections but you can walk next door to Rocco’s and get a slice of pizza and bring it in… and that’s exactly what we did. Jukebox action bumpin’ ol school Metallica, some shuffleboard and video game play in the back as well. Pretty good spot in Belltown, located right next to a bunch of other bars so this is a good spot to stop in, draw on the table and have a drink.

Amazing atmosphere for a dive bar. The interior was killer! Except we were a bunch of 20−25-so year olds so it felt a little out of place but I still loved it. Beer here isn’t too badly prices too.

The Friday night crowd was not the same as the afternoon crowd, which was disappointing. The bartender’s were on point, the tiki décor good, guess I expected to hear surf rock, psychobilly, anything but 90’s top 40 at an unfathomable volume. Lasted 3 songs before heading out.

I was in Seattle for work and stopped here for a couple of beers. It is definitely an interesting spot! The under the sea mural on the wall was pretty cool. Lots of big wooden booths lined against the wall. We got there kind of early, so we snagged one. There is some outdoor seating in front. Bartender was really friendly and helpful with good beer suggestions. Drinks were reasonably priced too! I liked this dive-y little spot. I’d definitely go back.

My friend and I left tonight after waiting at the bar for 10 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge us. The bar was not crowded so there was no reason for the bartender not to serve us(unless that is the regular quality of service there). 1 star because I can’t give zero; at a bar, the minimum requirement is to get served.

$ 3.50 pints of craft beer, including Guinness stout, during happy hour. What more could you want? Get your azz in here!

I LOVELAVA! This is one of my favorite dive bars in all of Seattle. It probably helps that I live around the corner, but I totally dig the vibe here. It’s crusty. Nobody is out to impress anyone else. They usually have great jams playing(It’s an ecclectic selection… so you never know what you are going to get!) and the interior just puts you in a chill mood. It helps having a superb mural of a hammerhead shark and turles on the wall done by a local artist. They allow you to bring your dog inside so it’s become a favorite haunt of all of us Regrade Dog Park friends. We order a pizza from Rocco’s or Nachos from Mama’s Mexican Kitchen and then we park at a booth in Lava with our pups and live it up. The bartenders here are awesome… they always serve the dogs first! :)

If been to my share of dive bars and this one is one of my favs. The beer selection is pretty poor but they have at least two I’m ok drinking. The place is totally laid back and full of… Interesting characters. I didn’t see many younger people in there so it’s a good chill place w out the bs of the younger crowd. The barkeep is pretty rad although we both were stumped on a brewery of a beer. Turns out it’s a Bellingham beer. It’s a fairly clean place however the bathroom is dark and creepy. I will for sure come back here and bring some friends as I do with the Tin Hat in Ballard. Sorta has the same feel. If you haven’t checked that place out you should.

I liked the bar vibe, I’m more of a dive person so I dug the interior. Classy dive feel. Anyways I walked up to the bar to see only one bartender making drinks. Waiting patiently only to be passed up 4 or 5 times by people coming in after me. A bit ridiculous. Then when it was my turn I asked for the darkest beer, and if she had any recommendations. Her pretentious response. «Don’t know what you want, maybe you should figure that out!» I’ve already given my drink order and am asking for a recommendation as there are a plethora of beers I’m not familiar with. I’ve bartended and served for 5+ years so I can understand frustrations with patrons who don’t know what they want after waiting, being slammed, and having to make complicated drinks. This woman was experiencing none. Just a nasty lazy bartender chick. I walked out and don’t plan on coming back. Maybe next time you can say you like such and such as you pour the beer previously ordered. No worries, The Rabbit Hole bartenders appreciated the generous tips and simple requests.

As a dive bar lover I’m gonna say this is my favorite. The bartenders are friendly and fast. They pour a heavy whiskey shot and if you’re weak of heart; don’t order a Long Island iced tea. The bathrooms are wack like all bathrooms in dive bars but if you’re smooth enough you can sneak next door and use Rocco’s toilet… shhhhh don’t tell anyone else. They have shuffle board and some game where you can shoot thing… I’ve been known to pick it up and pretend to hunt hipsters but whatever. Music is loud and it gets packed on weekends. If you haven’t been here you’re missing out!

Not sure why this place is rated so highly… I guess it’s hard to rate things like bars/lounges. everybody is looking for something different. It’s not trendy. it’s a hole in the wall. It serves drinks. that are okay. It’s not really full on a Friday night. The recommendation we got was disappointing for somebody who doesn’t live in Seattle. but not that great for people watching. meeting. or drinking interesting cocktails for that matter.

I ended up at Lava Lounge one Thursday night in Seattle. I knew nothing about the place going in but it was fun and cooler than I would have guessed from the name. It was a hip Seattle dive bar in vibrant Belltown, with a casual, comfortable atmosphere. We got a big table, which is always nice when out drinking. I showed up a little drunk without having eaten, so I abstained on this leg of the night. It seemed like a good place to get a beer though. Instead I just hung out and had my ass handed to me at Street Fighter 2. I spent a whole round trying to remember how to do Chun Li’s fast kick thing before giving up and mashing buttons until I died. As Seattle bar decoration/entertainment, by the way, an old-school arcade game must be pretty ultimate. I’d recommend Lava Lounge for a night out in Belltown. It’s fun and easy, and you can play video games like it’s 1993.

Lava Lounge is definitely my favorite kind of Seattle bar. It’s dive-y-ish(yeah), meaning it’s a little rundown on the edges, and not hoity toity. The drinks are straightforward and you’re a douche if you order a Cosmopolitan. It can get a little crowded, but if you’re lucky enough to score a booth, then you’re just on top of the world! The décor is fun and schizophrenic. There’s graffiti all over the damned tables and some of the walls and even the booths. It’s so confusing and fun and who the hell cares, let’s just get another drink! It’s that kind of place. Come here after you’re deaf from a show at the Croc. It works. Bring a Sharpie pen or a pocket knife or something to add to the fun.
