I can’t speak to the food here, but as far as karaōke-bars-that-are-inside-of-old-retired-American-railroad-cars-from-the-1940’s are concerned, this place is easily in my top 10. In fact, it may be my favorite karaōke bar in the country. Great song selection, great equipment, great rooms, all of which are off-shoots of different train cars. Super friendly staff, which you usually don’t find at a place this authentic, or this classic. There’s also a dining car that was FDR’s when he was president, and two other dining cars that make up the non-karaōke bar part of the establishment. Truly, this building(if you can call it that) should be a national landmark.

This is the worst Asian cuisine i have ever had the displeasure of eating. I got take out and The rice was absolute porridge and didn’t even look like rice anymore. It was tasteless and bland and the general Tso’s chicken was coated in this gelatinous goo that was supposed to be sauce. The spring toll was inedible and chewy and i was so upset i went in to get a refund and the woman was so unbelievably rude to me. Instead of providing good customer service and just giving me a refund for obviously un eaten food she stood there and argued with me that it was the way they make their rice… and that i «dont know how to eat» i wish i would have had her try and taste it to see how disgusting it was. I cant believe the snotty attitude towards me after i was being polite to her and apologizing about me not liking the food. JUSTGIVEMEMYMONEYBACKANDSTOPARGUINGWITHME!!! I will NEVER go back to this awful establishment. Save yourself a headache and save your money and go somewhere else.

Really good karaōke. The four dishes that we got were delicious with good portion sizes. We got a lot of water refills without ever asking. Overall a great experience

Love everything about this place! Their food is delicious and I got to celebrate my birthday in one of the karaōke rooms and it was the best experience ever. Plus I hear this place is supposed to be haunted and I’m a huge paranormal activity fan, so coming here always has me on my toes(even tho I haven’t seen anything weird lol)

Food was terrible, poorly made. Very low quality l, I do not recommend this place unless there’s a zombie apocalypse and no other options are available. They do deliver, the only reason is because they’re trying to get this garbage as far away from their establishment as possible. If I could give zero stars I would.

The food is not great. The only thing I like there are the fried chicken wings. However, if you are looking for cheap place to sing karaōke and spend the night, I would still recommend this place. You just need to meet the minimum spend by ordering food/drinks, around $ 15 – 20, and you can sing there for a few hours. If it’s not busy, they will let you keep singing until they close. They have a good selection of Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese songs. They also have some English and other languages as well.

I’ve ordered food from here a different couple of times. Every time I get delivery its soggy and mushy. Not sure how they cook their food but maybe they should rethink the way they package/deliver their food. Avoid the General Tsao Chicken the only flavor it really has is burnt sugar. The potstickers are probably the only good thing on the menu.

It was an overall nasty experience of delivery food. They forgot my condiments, the delivery guy handed me my receipt back and asked where his tip was. I simply forgot to bring my cash to the door, but to ask for a tip? My Thai Tea was spilled all over the bag it came in, and was gross. Super irritated.

Not the best in the area. Ordered an almond chicken, sesame chicken, and wonton soup. The chicken was battered, but I wouldn’t call it fried. Just a layer of breading, nothing crispy. The gravy and sesame sauces with the chicken wasn’t anything special, but not the worst. Didn’t mind the wonton soup. I will say that the portions are VERY large, but that’s only justifiable due to the noticeable lack of quality.

I can’t speak for the karoake, but the American-Chinese food is good. The décor is like no other Chinese restaurant I’ve ever seen: several railroad cars connected by walkways(or possibly fake railroad cars — but they looked real enough). We had the ginger beef and the salt and pepper squid, both were OK. Service was quite good, considering it was a slow Monday night. If you want authenticity, Chinatown is a mile north, but if you want decent food in a kitschy atmosphere, Orient Express may be for you.

The restaurant fulfilled our late night Chinese food craving for almond chicken and Phad Kee Moa, as well as delivering within 20 minutes. The almond chicken was TASTY. However, if I could change the dish I would add a little more sauce and reduce breading on the chicken. The Phad Kee Moa was EXTREMELYSPICY for a medium spice level which could have been a fluke issue in the kitchen and the noodles were clumped together. Either way, the flavor of both dishes were tasty, decent quality and delivered very QUICKLY!

Me and my gf decided to try this place after smoking some local herb from a dispensary nearby and we loved the uniqueness of the restaurant. The food is okay, I would rate it 3 stars but the environment and mystery of the restaurant is what really made the experience the more pleasant, and the staff is very nice as well which counts a lot for me. I ordered the Mongolian beef and I forgot what my girlfriend ordered but it was decent as well. I think the food here is more directed towards American Chinese comfort food instead of authentic. Next time I come here I’m getting drunk and gunna try some karaōke in the other train Cart :)

Just bought a vegetarian dish and so disappointing, the chef must be really lazy or just not too happy making a vegetarian dish today since he did not even take the pain to stir the noodles properly in the sauce, tastes bad, looks bad and smells weird too. very disappointing

One of Seattle’s last remaining gems. All of the yuppies are running the interesting, vintage, and unique joints out of town — hopefully Orient Express and its train cars will never go anywhere. Kitschy, vintage, whacky design, great karaōke rooms, amazingly friendly staff, great old school tropical cocktails, and satisfying Americanized Chinese comfort food.

I am(or was) a longtime customer. We ordered delivery and when our orange chicken arrived, it was actually sweet & sour(with some food coloring or something to darken it up a bit) and a couple of orange slices. Did not taste anything at all like proper orange sauce. We’ve actually ordered MANY times from them in the past, and I know that they DO know how to make this dish correctly. But this is the straw that broke the camel’s back. This place is just so wildly inconsistent… I won’t be ordering from here ever again. If you’re willing to take a gamble, go for it — but be prepared to have wasted your money.

This place used to be fantastic, but something has changed over the past year or so. I got take out tonight and it was horrible(for the second time). I’m not sure that I have ever seen or eaten Pad Thai that was covered in caramelized onions and gravy; it was terrible! The Wonton soup was actually very good though and the General Tso’s Chicken was edible but not much more than that(again, covered in gravy… not sauce but a gravy-like substance. There are FAR better Asian style restaurants in Seattle… you should visit one of them!

Four stars? You may be asking yourself. Especially with such sub par reviews of the food. How could this place ever deserve such a ranking. Well, food aside, I found the Orient Express to be the most wonderfully weirdest place I’ve been to in a long time. When I was a wee little one this place was a restaurant. As a kid I’m sure my judgement was flawed but I remember loving the food and best of all dining in a non-moving train car. How exciting! Now you can rent rooms and sing terrible karaōke. Fun! Those warm memories vanished once I revisited. Barren landscape, a fish tank(if I remember correctly), walking through the kitchen to get to the karaōke room, a sliding door with a knob completely confusing you when you try to turn and push. Where am I?! If you are fluent in Chinese you will win in picking songs correctly. If not, you are left to press buttons in hopes that the screen will start playing a song you may know. Oh, karaōke Russian Roulette! I must say they had the most epic karaōke videos. Did I really need to watch the entire«Remember The Time» video? I mean, like, the entire video as if it was the world première on MTV(remember those days?). My buds and I were in the biggest room which was perfect for our group of ten. Plenty of seating and tables. The night is still a little blurry but I remember colored lights and scenery printed wallpaper. The biggest draw of this place? $ 10 doubles. STRONG doubles. So strong that my rum and coke was clear. I ended up having two with a strong desire of getting a third but I am glad I decided against it. I woke up the next morning not feeling 100% and grateful as shit that I didn’t go with another one. The food? Best when you are drunk. I tired it sober since they are one of the few places that deliver to my casa in West Seattle. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great either. But sometimes when you want to be a lazy ass you’ve got to take what you can get. Orient Express, you leave me, much like my guilty pleasure of 90’s dance music, unsure about myself in the beginning but at the end full of awe, wonderment, and glee.

This was the worst chinese food I have ever eaten in my life so I think a 2 is pretty fair. I ordered delivery using GrubHub last night, craving chinese food. Here was my menu selection: — Orange chicken — 9.95 — Beijing Pork — $ 9.95 — Potstickers — 2 sides of rice — $ 2.00 The cost for the meat entrees of $ 9.95 is really really expensive considering the low poor quality of the food. The Beijing Pork was cut into huge thick chunks that were hard as a bone. In fact I think they were bones. It felt/looked like I was eating Pig Hooves so I lost my appetite and couldn’t finish more than a few pieces. The orange chicken was also cut into big chunks, and there were not very many slices. The potstickers were microwaved and tasteless. The dough was soggy and mushy like it had been deep-fried the day before and then microwaved for serving. This was such a terrible experience. Please do not order from here, no matter how hungry you are late at night for Chinese food!

You don’t come here for the food. You come here for the $ 10 doubles that will knock you on your ass, and the karaōke which is all in Chinese, and many videos don’t include lyrics. A lot of the songs also don’t include an artist, so you really have no way of knowing what is going to pop up on the screen till its too late. Luckily 2 hours into the night, after watching way too much k-pop videos we discovered that there was a «skip» option. You can get your own room with your friends, there is just a $ 15 minimum per person. Order a questionable appetizer and a drink and you’re good to go. Or you can do like we did and order like 4 drinks per person and then everyone wakes up the next day and hates the world! Come for the strong drinks, stay for the Chinese Karaōke.
