This was our first visit. We decided to try Pig Iron after reading a Unilocal review for another BBQ place that recommended coming here instead. They did not steer us wrong. Our waitress was friendly and the food was delicious(and plentiful portions!). Hubby had the pulled pork plate and I had the brisket plate. We both highly recommend our dishes!!! We’ve decided to make Pig Iron a regular lunch spot!

The portions here are good size, they have some house branded beers & soda which are unique and tasty, and the staff is like one big family so the service is really good. One catch is the location though, it is in the heart of the port area so it is a bit out of the downtown area and there really isn’t a good route from I-5 that doesn’t take less than 15minutes with no traffic. The other thing is the hours, they close really early and my last couple of visits they were out of my first 3 menu choices the last couple of times I visited.

My two favorites are the pulled pork and the turkey sandwiches w/the chipotle Bbq sauce and slaw on the side, so freakin good. Orders come out quick and surprisingly cheap.

So so BBQ, not even close to what I can do at home. Brisket plate was dry with hardly any smoke flavor and did not taste any rub on the outside. Lesson learned I guess.

Meh. I have had waay better. I mean, I understand I can’t compare this BBQ to Texas, but definitely, there are better places in Seattle. First off, this place has a terrible parking lot! It is gravelly and has tons of puddles. It is also small, so, probably better off parking on the street. Service was also okay, they were nice and sweet, but they just got a new system and prices and add ons were missing. Also, no one needs to know about how the kitchen thinks you are wrong, just correct it! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with carmelized onions and their potato salad. The pulled pork was good, but the buns… I mean seriously, when it’s a sandwich it is mucho importante to consider the bun! These buns were not buttered toasted, heck, not toasted ATALL! I was expecting the potato salad to be chunky, but instead it was a scope of potatoes that had celery in it. not very fresh at all. Overall, this place can definitely improve on the food. Will probably eat at other BBQ places in the area…

Known for their BBQ catfish(platter or sandwich works) so give it a go. It’s not smothered in BBQ like I feared, but it had an interesting flavoring. The catfish sandwich and potato salad as the side that I ordered was tasty. The salad wasn’t to my liking, but it wasn’t shabby. Their homemade«sweet» tea isn’t comparable to the South’s, but hey, it is the west coast version. Don’t be freaked out since the staff will be covered with tattoos, but they are super friendly. This is a family business so I guess the customer service level, aside from the food, has probably given this place much hype. You can see their many awards displayed at the front as you enter so the rep is more than just hype. The hours of this place is like from 11AM to 4PM so plan your trip accordingly. Parking can be found behind the building.

Does The Pig Iron BBQ still offer fried green tomatoes with their special red sauce? I sure hope they do. That’s the main reason I’d go there. They also have good sweet tea and while I’m not a BBQ snob, I enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich and the sweet potato fries, too. The atmosphere is fun – good tunes on their stereo system and a good amount of funky cowhand furnishings and wall art.

Loved my brisket sandwich. Place was cool, service was quick and staff was friendly. I’m not a BBQ snob, so I’m not going to get into the minutia of the sauces… But I can say after my first visit that I loved it enough to come back the next time I’m in the neighborhood and hankering for some good Q!

Friendly service, food was pretty good. Maybe a little overpriced for portions but I would come back

Was going to carry out and decided to hang as the atmosphere is typical BBQ joint that’s easily located just a block north of Marginal Way on 1st St. as you head north toward downtown. I got the chopped brisket sandwich and was able to taste the potato salad, cole slaw, spinach casserole, link sausage and ribs. They put on some bread and butter pickles and sweet onion slices on the plates as a garnish. There’s 3 different sauces; regular, chipotle and mustard Carolina sauce. The chopped brisket was good and I found that adding on the pickles, onions and some of the chipotle sauce brought it out a bit more. I was pleasantly surprised with the chipotle sauce. Only had a few bites of the baby back ribs(they ran out), but they had a good burnt end taste and they were pretty good although need to eat more to really have good feedback on them. The link sausage was a disappointment as it was mixed with some kind of sauce as I like my meat plain and I add the sauce. They have chicken and turkey, but it was meh too. Stick with the ribs and brisket is my advice for my taste. As for the sides, the spinach jalapeño casserole was really good and the best side they had hands down. The other sides I tasted were the mashed potato salad and the cole slaw; meh. Actually, the pickles and the onions were the best sides in my mind; that’s not a good thing. Overall, I’m not disappointed in Pig Iron, just not so impressed I’ll make a habit of coming here often. To quote the late Robert Eddison, «But choose wisely, for while the true BBQ will bring you life, the false BBQ will take it from you». Hope you choose wisely.

Went for lunch, popular at that time of day too, merger street parking and some in the back. Ordered the chopped brisket sandwich, fried green tomatoes. Friend ordered the baby back ribs, and the stuffed jalapenos. The apps were great, especially the jalapenos. Stuffed with corn and bacon like a tamale, wrapped in grape leaves drizzled with a mild scallion/cream sauce. The fried tomatoes were tasty and served with the same scallion sauce on the side. Too bad they were a little over fried. The meats were better than average too, especially the ribs — done perfectly. The brisket meat was tender but lacked any zing from the lack of a bbq bark. Three bbq sauces available at the table, mostly mild. A little pricey, $ 15 per person roughly, but it’s bbq and that’s never cheap in Seattle. Service was great too. Recommended.

So disappointing. First, there was a child taking our order, and we asked for Coke and we didn’t know they had their own sodas, so we ended up getting the bottled Pig Iron sodas, which we wouldn’t have paid for if there had been an adult to explain how drinks worked. We got fried green tomatoes and they were burnt. We asked for ketchup and apparently they don’t have any. They were out of chicken, which was actually the reason we came, so we sucked it up and got brisket and catfish. It was okay, but not worth $ 20 each. We just wanted some BBQ, and at $ 60 this was our most expensive meal during our week stay in Seattle, and also the most disappointing.

Pig Iron has a fun, roadhouse feel to it, enough Americana to make you feel like you could be in a Texas Roadhouse, but not too much kitsch. I like the aluminum plates and casserole dishes and mason jar glasses. I really like the pulled pork plate here at Pig Iron. The pulled pork is generously sized, the meat is tender and seasoned perfectly. Every plate comes with two sides, but I always get a double portion of the jalapeño spinach casserole. You’ve got to try their sauces too, they have three on each table– Mild, Hot and Chipotle. Service is usually pretty friendly and fun. Definitly worth checking out in G-town.

Leave it to me to order a grilled fish sandwich at a BBQ joint, but, then again, there are rewards to not always going with the obvious choices. I could of easily went with a pulled pork sandwich when I recently paid a visit to Pig Iron Bar-B-Que, but I’ve eaten a lot of pulled pork in my time. What I haven’t had a lot of are grilled fish sandwiches. Most often, fish is fried before it’s incorporated into a sandwich. Not that that’s a problem, but there is something inherently more difficult in grilling fish and having it stand out in sandwich form. I’m happy to report that Pig Iron has found a way! According to the menu the catfish fillet is marinate in Shiner Bock and Pig Iron sauce and then grilled. If that sounds like the catfish would be overpowered by the marinade, you’d be wrong. The flavor of the catfish still comes through. That’s a plus if you like catfish, which I do and if you don’t, well, I doubt that you would have order this sandwich in the first place. The grilling also provides nice surface areas where the sauce gets caramelized and extra delicious. Lettuce, a smear of remoulade and an extra drizzle of remoulade over the fillet. All that is situated on a soft potato roll. The remoulade isn’t overly assertive, once again, allowing the catfish to be the star ingredient of the sandwich. The potato roll is a good choice. Its soft texture makes eating the somewhat delicate fillets that much easier to handle without it slipping away from the inside of the sandwich. However, I wish that the roll had been toasted on the flat top. It was somewhat cold a little denser than it should have been. It’s all a matter of degrees. You certainly wouldn’t want it as toasted as you would for a hamburger, but you you don’t want it untoasted either. I know that’s nitpicking, but, hey, this is technically a review. Trust me, though, I greedily finished this sandwich. It was an unexpected surprise coming from a BBQ place and a total winner!

I went here for lunch on Friday since a coworker suggested it. I tried to order the Ribs, Turkey Sausage plate. The waitress said they had already ran out of ribs. That’s too bad cause I was salivating for some good ribs. So I got the pull pork sandwich and smokey beans as well. I was very surprised. I’ve been to so many barbecue joints that aren’t good in the Seattle area. I might have found a good one here. The pulled pork was moist and very tender with the perfect amount of barbecue sauce on it. A pulled pork sandwich isn’t that hard to make but you’d be surprised at how many places mess it up. They also serve all their drinks in mason jars. All in all this place was great and I’ll definitely be back to try the ribs.

The pulled pork and sweet potato fries rocked. Service was quick and the additional sauces on the table allowed me to use their chipotle sauce as an added benefit. My friend had there chopped salad with pulled pork and said it was super. Collard greens were a disappointment but I’ve been in the south where it’s done right ;)

No. just no. Meat had no flavor Sauce tasted like chili powder(all of them) Mashed potatoes were seriously the weirdest thing I’ve ever consumed Beans tasted like they were canned and doctored up with some of their chili powder sauce. Very thick and mushy. Way overpriced considering the fact the the pickles were the tastiest thing I ate at the place.

PIGVOMITBBQ is the worst BBQ I’ve ever eaten or tried to eat… Now I’ve made the effort to try this twice and each time I tossed my plate of food away. My biggest regret was I didn’t walk into SLIMS and just have some chili! I fly to Texas for real BBQ so I know quality BBQ and this place is not one of them. They should pay Arron Franklin to teach them the finer points of BBQ cooking. Or at least go to BBQ cooking school. Do your taste buds and wallet a favor and wait for McRib sandwich to come back before entering PIGVOMITBBQ!

BBQ is back baby! Open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. The pulled pork and ribs are cooked to perfection! Stuffed Jalapeño pepper appetizer is so tasty, worth the splurge. I love that they serve mama Lils peppers as an add on for your sandwich plate! Note none of their sauces are hot. Adding the Mama Lils brings the perfect heat component here! Yum! Pretty sure this is my fav BBQ in Seattle

I debated writing a review after one visit but it will probably be a while before I go back so at least I can get a point of reference out there. We came in a half an hour to close(we did a to-go order; I would never sit-in to eat so close to closing time!) One of my peeps was grumpy because our first choice(Slim’s Last Chance) didn’t have any seats and he was craving something particular there. We drug him over here with arms crossed over his chest and looked at a really nice-sized BBQ menu. The«No Ma’ams» here: –We didn’t get acknowledged. I’m not sure about you, but I always associate BBQ with hospitality. Maybe that’s a stereotype, but there it is. –My pulled chicken sandwich is supposed to come with a choice of 1 of 3 sides, but I was not offered a side(coleslaw, beans, or a mashed potato salad) I did order a $ 4 side of jalapeño spinach casserole, so maybe that’s where the confusion came in? –The famous BBQ sauce? We got home and they had put in 3 small containers of sauce… for 3 people. You know the cups – pizza places put parmesan into them. Yeah, that small of a cup. And the BBQ sauce was light on my sandwich for my taste, but that’s just a preference. The«Yes, Sirs» here: –The pulled Chicken sandwich had a generous amount of chicken on it. And if you get your side, the price is great. –The Mr. enjoyed the baby back ribs . –The décor is awesome. Loved all the Texas-themed decorations(did you know that there are different kinds of barbed wire?) The thing that will probably end up bringing me back is the Fried Green Tomatoes app I saw on the menu. I really do love Fried Green Tomatoes, but the glutton in me was bound and gagged in the corner that night, and none of my people like them, so I couldn’t get an order to share. Check it out; let me know if you run into the same service issue we did. And for goodness sakes, report back about their Fried Green Tomatoes!
