Went to roosters today with 4 friends for a birthday. I’m surprised it wasn’t busier, given how good it was. Everyone in my group loved the food. Even great music! Very friendly server, fast service, and the place is super clean. It does not have the Capitol-hill-hipster-vibe… Which was refreshing(oh… but don’t worry, we’re really quite hip!) We will definitely go again, and you should too!

This place is a gem! Great breakfast, lunch and dinner with the only pit barbecue I know of on Capital Hill, and the Mexican food has a great Tex-Mex vibe. The owners are often on site and make you feel at home. It has great cocktails and a bar, but it is also a place I feel comfortable bringing my three kids. The ribs are amazing as is the pulled pork and Cuban sandwich. I am glad it is in my neighborhood. I am heading up for breakfast now.

Most of the food is meh, but they have decent baby back ribs. The location is good, it’s very casual, and the service is decent.

If you’re here for breakfast get the chipotle eggs Benedict with bbq smoked pork. Dinner entrees are fairly typical Tex Mex/Mex Am but are well executed. Good margaritas and a decent beer selection. Kid friendly.

Solid 4 stars. Food is incredible and there are tons of TVs(a rarity in Seattle) Parking is pretty easy and the area is cool. Unfortunately the place is a bit sterile BUT all the furniture is hand made by the owner which is a huge plus for me. All in all, worth the visit.

So, we came To the Rooster on Broadway, Seattle. The service was great once again. The bartender, Hector made special drinks for us. One milkshake inspire martini with Kailua and God knows what. He is awesome! We call this the«Ron John» I wanted a chambord vodka something and he came up with a «wicked Amy.» Thanks for another great time!

Nachos, nachos, nachos. 5-star nachos! My fiancé and I had the opportunity to live 12 months in Seattle before returning home to San Francisco. With that disclaimer, we try to mix up where we eat when we go out, because we might not have the chance to return to any one place. However, Roosters’ nachos keep us coming back for more! Chips are crispy, pico is zesty, cheese is melty. They have a special twist by putting the black beans underneath so the dish is heated through. dee-lish! We will definitely miss the nacho fix when we have to leave this fantastic city.

Not very impressive. I visited this place as I was walking down broadway looking for something to eat. I ordered the Chimichanga and it was the oiliest, soggiest, most disgusting burrito I have ever eaten. There atmosphere was dead and there was no one there. I must say the server/bartender were awesome and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. If I do return it will be because of the service and only for a drink.

Stop at the Rooster bar and grill in Capital Hill for a bite to eat with my girlfriend. The food was great and the drinks were even better must try the El Jefe drink and the sopes appetizers. The bartender Lori is awesome. The hospitality was superb. Can’t wait to come again!

this place was pretty good. I ordered a burger from here, and it came pretty quickly and was tasty. the fries were definitely too salty though, which is my only main complaint. we did go around 3pm on a Saturday, so it was empty, but I preferred that. it was also a little pricey, although that’s just the norm for capital hill. overall, this is definitely s good go-to place !

Hipsters will likely find this place insufferable due to its mainstream qualities(clean bathrooms, well lit, and music at reasonable levels) Great place to go and have a conversation and grab a bite. The food is flavored and presented well, service quick /polite and décor is based on your mother’s mental image of a tex-mex cantina. Coming here will not make you cool, sorry. However, you will get a good meal and good service.

After eating dinner here and reading many of the reviews I have to agree with commenters calling this a misplaced tex-mex chili’s and add that I’m highly suspicious of the sheer number of 5 star reviews. We had two margaritas, the queso, and beef tacos. The margaritas tasted like basic mix, the queso dish was extremely hot and I would guess had been microwaved, and the tacos were just ok. Too many better locations in cap hill. Hey maybe some of the other dishes are excellent, we only tried two things. Also, the music was bizarre for the venue. 70s rock?

I’m currently in a booth at Roosters writing this review. If you haven’t been here yet, do yourself a favor and go. We came here on a Friday night when it seemed pretty empty and people in our group was pretty skeptical. But the service and food proved us wrong. This is a hidden Cap Hill gem so get in here before it is cool. They know how to cook meat. The pulled pork is perfection, and the chicken is amazing. They do TexMex cuisine. We went with a friend that grew up in Texas and has been missing TexMex. He ended up leaving really happy.

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants. Everything I’ve tried has been amazing, but the fajitas are my favorite. The food taste like it’s been made with the best ingredients, and it taste so fresh. Also, the owner(can’t remember the name), and Heather are the best!

I love this place! I have been to Roosters several times now to sit and eat at the bar and for takeout. The food has always been delicious, high quality and fast! The pulled pork sandwiches are killer as well as great bbq! Poblano mac and cheese was decadent and spicy.

After 5 visits to Roosters, I’ve gotten enough experience to post a review. I’m happy to report that every visit has been delicious and delightful! Portions are generous, and the ingredients top notch. Although a Mexican restaurant, the kitchen has been happy to adjust the«heat@ of the food to match my taste. They’re responsive to adjustments to the dish, and have accommodated my request for vegetarian versions of their dishes by substituting delicious alternatives. Although I’ve mostly had dinners here, breakfasts have also been delicious. At this point, it’s still possible to get seated right away in the weekend, so not everyone has discovered this restaurant in Capitol Hill. All the better for those of us who do know about it. Now you do too.

Do not pass this place by! Unassuming and the food quality is super solid. The staff is also super nice. Haven’t been disappointed by a dish yet. Hot tip– The Cuban is one of the best you can get anywhere. Also try the Mint Dressing on a salad.

I ate here on Halloween dressed as grumpy cat. This is not a crucial factor in my review, but I thought you should know. We had a large group(12) and the staff was SO accommodating! From the call to make the reso until they walked us out the door filling our pockets with Halloween candy, they really made us feel welcome and constantly checked in for food and drinks. They also threw an impromptu costume contest which was a fun surprise. Honestly the crew that runs this restaurant is amazingly friendly and that is a huge standout for the Hill. The food highlights: Guac was tasty and the Chimichanga was really nice(and huge). They don’t skimp on the portions so come hungry. Nachos were pretty standard. We didn’t have appetite for dessert but they looked yum! It does feel a little chain restaurant-y but I am super rooting for Rooster’s. Definitely give it a try and their hospitality will win you over.

Pretty confused how this has a 4-star average on here. Before it even opened, the name and the look of it were an ongoing joke to most everybody I talked to who work and live in the area(I live in this neighborhood). It looks like someone who probably hasn’t lived in Seattle or Capitol Hill very long took out a lease on a space and opened a pre-conceived Tex-Mex themed Chilis concept. It looks about as out of place on Broadway as a shopping mall(though this place would probably thrive near a shopping mall). But, to be fair, and to avoid further assumptions(and also out of sheer, morbid curiosity), my girlfriend and I tried it out a couple months back during happy hour. We tried the ceviche. It was about as basic and tasteless as a normally delicious dish like this can be. The cod at least tasted fresh to us both, so that was good news. I think we also tried something involving plantains, but I honestly don’t recall for sure. Maybe they came with the ceviche… Either way, meh. The person taking care of us didn’t seem to care much that we were even there, and it took a long time to finally get our check from her after we had long ago finished our beers. I think that we were 2 of maybe 10 people in the(oddly) enormous space. The one thing I will say is that the guy who appeared to be the owner was super friendly to us when we walked in, and seated us right away with menus. That, combined with walking away without food poisoning from the suspect ceviche awards this place an extra star. If that was indeed the owner, I honestly do feel a little bad for him, he seems like a nice guy. But this place? Yikes.

I’ve been in here for lunch several times. The owners and the staff are super friendly. So much more friendly then the snarky, rude servers at Julia’s down the street. I have found everything I have ordered to be excellent. The pork quesadilla is absolutely wonderful if not completely traditional. And I can’t ever finish it — I’m always taking a wedge of the deliciousness home(which heats up beautifully in the microwave at home). The hot wings are delicious — smoky and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The key lime pie and fried ice cream are indulgences well worth the calorie count! This is a great place to have a casual lunch or dinner with friends. It’s on a par with Julia’s or Deluxe down the street but the food is far better than either of those places. That said, there are some things to keep in mind. It isn’t a traditional Mexican restaurant — so its not going to be «legit» and you shouldn’t be comparing it to a traditional Mexican restaurant(if you have found a place that makes traditional plantains then you should thank your lucky stars) but that should not be the expectation at Rooster’s. The chef is not even aiming for traditional Mexican cuisine. Tex-Mex is its own form of fusion cuisine and is therefore open to interpretation. The chef at Rooster’s is trying to give his/her own take on certain dishes. And this can lead to a much more interesting meal. You order something and it is not exactly what you expect it to be it and is often better and more interesting if you have an open mind. And we should all have an open mind for pleasure. I have found my meals to be a version of what I expect. This is actually a sign that the chef has a brain. For instance the taco salad which is served on large wedges of crisp tortillas so you have to break it down and into your salad which just makes the whole experience of the salad more interesting and fun. My only bone to pick and is that it is a bit too expensive for what it is. This isn’t quite fine dining — like Barrios — it’s more in the realm of a café or diner and should be priced closer to that. Everything is about $ 5 – 10 out of whack — so hopefully they figure that out. I can’t speak about the quality of the drinks at the bar. I go there for lunch when I’m at work so I haven’t had their margaritas or cocktails. Same diner/café rule would apply but then so should the prices.

Ok, here’s the deal: HIDDENGEM. The tex mex food is surprisingly delicious. Drinks are great. Service is friendly. Servings are Applebees-level massive. I was skeptical when I walked past the first few times, thinking it was a chicken joint or something. They could probably do with a bit of re-branding to give a sense of what the place actually serves; the picnic-y motif isn’t really cutting it. It’s a shame, too, because each time I’ve been in there the place has been ¾ empty. Don’t let Rooster’s slip away! Broadway needs more quality places like this.

I ordered the chicken enchiladas via Peach Lunch Delivery. Even with travel time to get from Cap Hill to Bellevue, the good was still hot and the chicken enchiladas themselves were divine. The black beans were flavored well, and the homemade tortilla chips were a welcome change from the bagged chips you get at most restaurants. I’d never heard of Rooster’s prior to ordering from Peach, so I’m glad to try one of their dishes. I plan on stopping by for lunch or dinner the next time I’m in the Capitol Hill area.

«Brunch with a western theme and hospitality in the middle of the city.» Are you seeking comfort food in large portions? Well look no further! Rooster’s Bar and Grill is more than happy to delight your palette and test your intake capacity. Let’s just say that cardio may be the next planned activity after recovering from the goodness and richness of their delicious brunch food. Our mission to try new spots every weekend takes us to Capitol Hill. We stopped by in time for brunch and the menu list was very promising. We ordered the buckaroo, french toast, and mimosa. The food arrived within minutes. The buckaroo was simply delicious. The mix of tender pulled pork, potatoes, and eggs over easy was absolutely filling. The potatoes had a touch of spice and went well with the peppers and onions. The french toast was decadent and rather sinful and the slice of melon garnish was a nice touch. The taste almost reminded me of crème brûlée. The service was flawless and the staff was attentive and personable. I recommend this spot for anyone seeking the taste of comfort food with a western twist.

Where to start. I came here with my husband and another couple. We had read the reviews and thought we would give it a try. We order the deviled eggs and they are just your ordinary devil days with a slice of jalapeño put on the top. All of our main courses where horribly under seasoned, I would lacking any flavor. My husband ordered the steak fajitas for $ 17.95, they arrived with 4 thinly sliced pieces of beef, weighing no more than 3 ounces total. Crazy!!!

We went to Rooster’s on Sunday for our«DDN» night(double date). We sat at one of the high tops in the bar. The table was made from large tree slabs which we found to be comfortable and cool. A great table for sharing as that’s what we did. Heather was our server and she was awesome. We tried many(maybe to many) items. All were delicious. We loved the chicken quesadilla. It was almost like a fajita. It was juicy shredded chicken with peppers, onions and cheese. The guys had the stampede which I was shocked they took it down. It had BBQ brisket, spicy uli’s sausage, ribs, half chicken and came with the most amazing charro beans, slaw and cornbread. Dessert– oh my! The key lime pie is a must. So to all the people who gave them bad reviews… can I suggest giving them another shot? We will be back! Thanks Roosters.

Before writing this review, I went through and read all the other reviews. All of them. I’ve only had drinks in house here, ordered take out once. Here’s the good, the bad and the ugly… The Good: the owners. They are very nice and friendly. And I can tell they are trying hard. The Bad: the food, drinks and some wait staff. I ordered«beef» enchilladas which should have bee specified as «steak» or «carne.» Very very small portion including rice and black for $ 16. Rice and black beans probably on the«I could make at home» level. I also ordered the tostones(fried plantains) which come with guac. No one can mess up guac but whoever **thinks** that the plantain chips are made in-house is just plain wrong. Either that, or you’ve never had Rumba’s guac platter with LEGIT tostones. DRINKS: all of the margaritas are just margarita mix(not the individual ingredients they list) and the alcohol. My date’s margarita tasted exactly like mine. We, in passing, made a comment to the waitress that they should make all the drinks on the menu and try them one after another to see how they taste. She rolled her eyes at us. And as another reviewer said, they come in short whiskey glasses, not pint glasses or anything else. When my date and I asked the waitress what certain ingredients were in the drinks before we ordered, she couldn’t tell us and claimed that drink was«just added» to the menu. The Ugly: They’re trying to be a «hipster Chile’s» is what me and my date both said. They look like they spent a lot of money on the décor but not a lot of thought on solid ingredients and solid staff. The biggest distaste they leave in my mouth is their lack of consideration on customers who are just trying to help them out. Listening to feedback is only going to make you better! Also, inconsistency sucks. Which is what I’ve taken away from all the reviews. There’s SO many places to go… even another Mexican restaurant a block away!

Enchilada is fantastic! They offer beef or chicken and I said«can they add pork instead?» They said yes and SERIOUSLY the best I’ve had in a long time! I ate every single bite it was so awesome! Two weeks ago I had the pork tacos and equally as awesome! Love this place so far!

The place looks a little formulaic and there are still some service bumps but the food is better than you’d expect, particularly the sides. The menu is pretty eclectic with Mexican dishes, a pasta or two, sandwiches and a bunch of appetizers. The prices are reasonable and the bar inviting. We had the pazole, the ceviche tostadas, the fish tacos and the barbecued ribs. Each was tasty and interesting. The accompanying sides –which are often an afterthought — really shine here. The beans were flavorful and the coleslaw fresh and interesting. This is not gourmet, but it is a step up from the«casual» dining were everything comes off a portion controlled truck. We were there on the second night and both the servers and the kitchen were very slow. This is a situation that can be fixed, probably by hiring a couple of additional staff. We’ll see if they make that investment.
