Food was good and the environment was nicer on the inside than what you would expect from seeing it on the outside. My wife and I both enjoyed our meals. The portion sizes were just«OK» for the price. Walked away feeling satisfied but definitely not stuffed. It’s close to home and I will be back.

for a neighborhood… its tasty… the ambiance is 1970’s. the wait staff is unpretentious and the ½ seasalt roast chicken and salad were tasty… for a casual tasty dinner .we shared so that was another reason it was not expensive… its okay

We really like this place. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much, but the food is really good. We’ve shared the truffle fries appetizer with the table. I’m not a big truffle oil fan, but they are pretty addictive. I’ve also had the halibut and it’s always been great. They also have a dessert I could do a face plant in. It’s hot molten chocolate drizzled with their caramel sauce and I think vanilla ice cream comes with it. OMG, so good! Salivating right now at the thought.

Great atmosphere! Wine selection offers great variety. Really well done dishes. Try ANY braised meat dish. The ravioli was amazing and definitely get the Brussels sprouts!

This is a great place to grab a drink or dinner with a friend or colleague after work. This is also a great place for a date. Even when it gets busy, around 5:30−6 it’s still quiet enough to not make you feel overwhelmed and you can still have a private conversation at your table without having to speak up over other voices. Ambiance is comfortable and sophisticated. Dim lighting, nicely designed. Staff is attentive and friendly. Food is pretty good, not a large menu selection but they do what items they offer right. We got an order of truffle fries and a pizza. The server said we could order a half serving of the fries if we thought a regular would be too big. If you plan on eating anything else after, a regular size for two people is probably too big. We had a lot leftover. At first I wasn’t too interested in the truffle fries because I’m not crazy about truffle oil but I was convinced that they were good. Actually I wanted to ask for more oil once I got the fries. I kept eating«one more» in an attempt to really find anything unique about the taste. Sort of never happened for me. The fries were okay, but I’m not a big French fry person and it left me with a heavy/uncomfortably full feeling for several hours. The mushroom pizza was really good. Wish I had just ordered that! It took a while to be made, the server warned us about that before placing the order. It was well made, perfectly cooked and tasted great. It’s so close to work that I would be a convenient and comfortable place for a dinner meeting. I might not go back on my own but I know I wouldn’t be embarrassed to come here for a business meeting.

Surprise, this place is dynamite. I have driven by Saltoro many times. I figured it was an ordinary Steak a fried seafood. We decided to check it out. Driving up to it, the restaurant looks average, but inside it is very nice(great for a date). The menu has a creative selection. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. We had the warm brussel sprout salad and the roast cauliflower. Both were prepared perfectly. My wife had the butternut squash ravioli. She said it was very good. I had the braised short rib with farro done 3 ways and beef fat roasted root vegetables. It was tender and the definition of comfort food. They have a well stocked bar with a knowledgeable staff. They even do craft non alcoholic beverages. I had a vanilla pear shrub drink. We walked out knowing we will be back. This is in local rotation.

Quaint and cozy. This is a good restaurant in an area where it is hard to find good food let alone a place with good ambience. I had the ravioli dish and a glass of wine, so I have not tasted much of the menu. However, based on my experience, I will be back to try some more options… Worth a look

This is the second time I have visited Saltoro, and while I hadn’t left a review the first time, my experience has not wavered. Their dishes are excellent, and are very accommodating to a variety of diets, including picky eaters. The food may hold a slightly higher price than the other restaurants nearby, but it is such for a reason. Wonderful date spot, friendly wait staff, will come again.

Our food was tasty(slightly too salty) but we were practically ignored by our server. Also upon arrival multiple workers walked past us without even saying hello. It felt like we weren’t really welcome or wanted there.

Excellent food, not too big, not too small portions. We had the grilled chicken and the shrimp linguine and they tasted like heaven. The sangria was awesomeee. Definitely an older crowd, not that there’s anything wrong with that. :).

No more truffle fries or calamari for me. They now fry them in the same oil as shrimp and things. It is busy thou… Kids. Families … And couples. Bar is quiet… Steak frites yummy cilantro and pesto sauce. Horseradish sauce with meal was like mayo and blue cheese with a bit of horsie sauce. I LOVETHETRUFFLEFRIES… But can’t have them anymore cuz they fry them with shellfish now and used to not.(Calamari and truffle fries and my fav dished along with saltoro salad) server and bartender were both nice and not prudish like last time. Mashed tatoes and meat: yum but sauce for steak frites was mayo, blue cheese and a tiny bit of horse radish… Vibe is good??? date type place

I always enjoy the food. The atmosphere inside is such a surprise. I also live the deck. What a neighborhood jem! I also love Bick’s Broadview Grill! Years of great food at both establishments. Local and fabulous!

My last experience was terrific! I had the Halibut! I could eat this every day for a month! Service was great, the atmosphere worked great for our crowd and it was just a very pleasant evening for everyone!

Not sure why I hadn’t dined at this restaurant for the past 3 yrs living only a mere 5 mins or less in walking distance. Passing by it plenty of times, the exterior definitely was not an eye catcher. However, the interior is very welcoming, clean, cozy, décor is nice and warm, and slightly dimmed for some intimate diners. Honestly service was a bit slow, prob because they were a bit busy. Food was definitely good, however just wish our main dishes were actually hot when we were served it rather than just slightly warm. Had the truffle fries and manila clams for starters, which was good. My boys loved their mac and cheese. My brothers and I had the halibut, lamb leg, and short rib agnolotti. All were delicious. I’m not a fan of lamb but had a piece to try and it did not have a strong gamey taste whatsoever. We ordered the fallen chocolate cake for dessert to share as we were all very full. I’m not a huge chocolate fanatic or dessert person, but I have got to say it was so yummy. I like how it was made to order, freshly made and hot.

Saltoro is AMAZING. I’ve been there several times and after each time, I think, «If I died right now, I would be completely satisfied.» It’s not easy to find such an amazing restaurant in North Seattle. The restaurant itself is cozy, intimate, and completed with a great ambiance. The staff is always amazing and friendly. The food… OMG… the food… where do I even begin? The truffle fries are worth every dollar. Whatever specials are available at the time are always a good bet. The appetizers are freaking amazing. They made me love brussels sprouts! Try it if you’re in the North Seattle area. They get busy and only take reservations for parties of 6 or more. However, it’s completely worth the wait.

After our last meal at Saltoro I feel compelled to weigh in here on Unilocal. My husband and I have been coming here for a couple of years, but have started to see something of a decline in value particularly where portion sizes are concerned. Let me start by just saying that I am not someone with a huge appetite… nine times out of ten, either my husband or my daughter wind up cleaning my plate for me. However the last time we visited Saltoro I found myself finishing off my daughter’s cheese pizza just to keep from fainting! I’d ordered the halibut which was advertised on the menu as including«roasted seasonal vegetables and marbled potatoes.» For $ 26, the portion of halibut was smallish but not unreasonable. However, what had hangry ol’ me nearly in tears when the server brought out my plate was the four tiny leaves of bok choy and three halves of baby red potatoes that passed as the accompaniment to my fish. Hat’s off to the chef, these microscopic sides were artfully arranged, but, please. If the sides are going to come out looking more like a garnish don’t list them on the menu. Let me be pleasantly surprised to see the way you’ve draped four bok choy leaves like rays of a starburst around my plate. If this had been a one-off thing I’d be willing to let it go, but it’s feeling more like a trend here over our last several visits. I totally understand quality over quantity at a five-star fine dining establishment where one expects to order multiple courses. But Saltoro is not a five-star restaurant. It’s a pleasant neighborhood eatery, and as such I don’t feel I should have to resort to swiping food from my six-year-old at the end of the meal.

It was the first day of summer and we decided to go have a nice dinner outside. Saltoro’s offers several outside tables, the noise from the street isn’t too bad and there is plenty of shade. The wife had been talking about a proper burger all day and this place did not disappoint. I ordered a Kobe burger with Gruyère, and truffle oil fries…(GETYOURFRIESTRUFFLED). And she had the lamb burger with a Harrisa aioli. The cook your burger to whatever temp you’d like and they know their temps well! Our server was attentive and informative, and the burgers and fries were delicious! We will definitely be back to try the other menu options!

I made a reservation for 13 for dinner on a Friday night in celebration of Bryson’s first day at his new job! Making the reservation was quick and easy and they accommodated our last minute changes very well. When we got there, the table was ready for us and we all got to sit together in a separate area. We ordered and they did a good job of making sure our food came out at the same time, but that meant it took quite a while for it to get to the table.(About 40 minutes?). No bread or anything while you wait so I was a little disappointed in that. I ordered the sea salt chicken and substituted the mashed potatoes for truffle fries. The chicken was really good, but too oily for me(it was sitting in oil), and the fries were pretty good but I couldn’t tell it was very different from normal fries. Bryson ordered the bacon pizza and he enjoyed that. Everyone else ordered various menu items such as the Saltoro Salad, Sweet Pea pasta, and more! They all enjoyed their meals. I would say that the quality of the meals overall were pretty good. Parking — Just enough spaces Service — Very good Large parties — split checks were easily done, and there were no automatic gratuity charges

I had never heard of this place until the in laws suggested it. We came on Saturday when they opened so it was not too busy but filled up very quickly. I had the sea salt chicken. So good. Moist and the crust on the outside was cooked to perfection. Garlic mashed potatoes were very good as well. I was concerned that they were not going to have a kids menu because it doesn’t seem like a place you bring a kid to but they did. Pizza and the kid seemed to love it and topped it off with a nice big glass of milk. Husband had the lamb burger and truffle fries. The burger was HUGE and the truffle frys were amazing. Service was pleasant and not overbearing. We would come back again.
