Sazerac

We stayed at Hotel Monaco, so naturally we wondered into Sazerac for dinner.
We were seated very quickly and with very court was staff. We ordered two tequila shots and our waiter joked with us and was very nice and attentive the entire time we were there.
For an appetizer we got bacon-​wrapped dates for $ 6. We got three dates, which seemed pretty pricey, but they are worth it! Best bacon-​wrapped dates I’ve ever had! Great bacon on them and the dates were perfect!
We ordered a pizza for dinner and split it between the two of us. It was very good as well and we could not stop eating slice after slice!
I highly recommend you come and try Sazerac. Try the bacon-​wrapped dates and split a pizza with someone! Great time!

This restaurant is attached to the Hotel Monaco, a Kimpton property in Seattle. Very conveniently attached to the lobby, and they have an open kitchen concept. It is warm and cozy in here, a place to retreat to after walking in the rain. I had lunch here.
4 stars — Burrata and beet salad. This one included arugula, pistachios, and a beet sauce. The beet sauce was good and not too sweet. The Burrata was a full serving, so this was a generous helping. For lunch, this salad really filled me up!
4 stars — Crispy truffles. This had a mashed potato consistency with truffle cheese and truffle essence inside. Not too overwhelming with truffles though, and it was fried crispy. Five pieces to an appetizer order. Just the right amount for our table.
2 stars — Service. Our table was not happy with the service provided by the manager. One of the orders at our table was incorrectly prepared and the server immediately noticed and had it fixed. That was a plus! But then the manager came over later to deliver the correctly prepared dish and made rude comments in the process. With the restaurant making a mistake, they sure had a way to turn it around and make their guests feel bad about it. This left a bad taste in my mouth.
Food is good, but with the bad service, I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this place. Too bad, cause the food is a good option for lunch.

I visited here for the first time for a birthday party with a large group. We met at 5pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was mostly empty. The ambiance was nice but not unique.
The Cons:
* They sat us on multiple small tables instead of moving them together so we can sit together. This was very irritating to me and our party. Our server did an adequate job but was rather annoying when you’re spending hundreds of dollars to eat and drink and he wasn’t very accommodating. We asked him if we could move them together and got a very smarmy response back that we couldn’t. No real reason other than that. I then had to track down a manager and she helped us right away to move the tables together so we could actually talk to each other and enjoy our experience. Thanks.
* As I mentioned our server left much to be desired. He was very short the entire night. Had excessive attitude. Some people were standing and he rudely said he wouldn’t take any drink orders unless everyone was seated. Again, he wasn’t very polite, warm or welcoming. He made most of our party uncomfortable with his unwillingness to be helpful, and we still tipped him very well.
*I thought the food was average for the price. $ 25 catfish that our server said was incredible was only average. Factor in $ 25 for a very inexpensive fish and you’ll get a little annoyed. Also tried the pizza and liked the fennel sausage but overall I thought the prices were too high for the execution and quality of food.
*Towards the end another large party was arriving and the restaurant moved multiple small tables together immediately and the patrons didn’t have to ask. They also put a nice table cloth on the table and of course neith we r of our tables had a table cloth. I thought that was strange. It just further frustrated our group and we left with a sour taste in our mouth.
In conclusion, it is not a place I would go for dinner. Most positive reviews I’ve read speak to their good happy hour which is likely to be the only reason I would go back. I would grade my overall experience here a C.

Conveniently located across the street from our crap-​fest of a Hotel, Sazerac was a breath of fresh air!
We made a last minute reservation and WERE NOT disappointed.
We arrived for an early dinner and were quickly seated. The interior was beautiful and the bar was already hopping. I can see how this place could get really crowded most nights.
We started with drinks which were delightfully tasty and strong.
I ordered an appetizer for Toasted Bread with Peaches (they subbed in Nectarines, but asked permission 1^st!) to share and the presentation was BEAUTIFUL, not to mention how delicious it was. This was the star of the evening, by far. DIVINE!
Our Burgers were cooked to perfection and very hearty.
This place is pricey, but I’d say it’s worth it. It’s swanky and fun, and the menu is a delight for the palate!

Holiday aside — and certainly want to give them props for being open — reservation ignored /​mod allowed a 5 top with out a reservation to snap up our 7 top — (mind you there were many unbussed tables that could have been cleared to serve us). when he realized his error he did nothing to correct — we had to remind him multiple times that we were still waiting — ½ an hour in we were seated — left at our table another 10 minutes until we asked the assistant to please find a waiter — another 5 minute wait. The mod was full of apologies and no action.
Service was very slow. Restaurant back of line pretty dirty — only time we received any attention again was when we took photos of the health violations on the line — dirty towels that belonged in sanitizing solution sitting on the work station, line cooks sipping beverages on the line and not washing their hands in between. (this promoted the mod to reprimand us that we can’t take photos — I would be embarrassed too if my back of line looked like that. Our beverages sat on the bar for a full ten minutes — our waiter walking in circles around the restaurant but never to pick up our drinks /​finally we got up and served ourselves — clearly the waiter forgot about our drinks.
Mistakes happen to everyone /​but no effort was made to make it right for us — and it wouldn’t have taken much — at the very end panicked about photos we took the mod bought us a round. Too little too late. Won’t be back.
