Sears Optical

The summer special was good but my glasses two years in started to show signs of deterioration on the lens. Whenever I needed new glasses it has been because of a need for a stronger pair not because of «lens defect». Warranty lasts one year. At the store all they could ask was if i used cologne or worked in a harsh environment. After contacting sears central someone from the store contacted me and offered 50 percent off new glasses after i asked that they replace these lenses. No.

What a joke! The girl sitting at the desk was on her cell phone complaining about her job and when I asked about an appointment she put her cell phone down on the desk NOT even hanging up. She then asked me for my personal info while the phone was still connected. She told me it was one of her associates. Needless to say I got upset and walked out.

So this is the worst customer service experience I have ever had michelle was the employees that helped me and she was very mis informed she gave me false information. she did not know how the basic company policies work. When I actually called customer service about it because my glasses are incorrect, they told me that there is nothing they can do that I needed to go back to the store so, I back to the store in spoke to the another employee by the name of Amberley she had told me that the employee that mis lead me did not even work there any more and that she would do her best to help. The best she could come up with after waiting weeks, is to just give me a refund. BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU WANT QUICK CONVIENT GLASSES DONT SHOP HERE!

45 minute drive to this Sears Optical store. First time here. Parking was easy. Walk into the store and there’s no signage to locate Optical. I look around for a map of the store, look near the escalator to see signage of what is down stairs. Nothing. I have to seek out the assistance of an employee. He was very helpful and directed me to the escalator and said Optical was down stairs.
Once down stairs I’m greeted by a sign that is missing the «i» in Optical. How can a sign that represents your business be so jacked? Management MUST look at it every day!
I walk into the store and taped to the desk was Sears signage that stated «out to lunch, back at three»
The ladies across the hall asked if they could help me, then explained the store was open but they (optical) were at lunch. Wait– open but at lunch? No one was around!
I’m at a loss here. I supported and miss the downtown Seattle Sears on Lander. I purchased my glasses there.
Now I completely understand why customers are moving away from Sears and/​or what ever that Sears non Sears business is down stairs with the Sears name attached to it. Should I wait till they open at 3– or go home?
Update– I left.

I called in today for an eye check up and they were able to get me in today! Dr. was nice and started my apt even a little early!
I’m a little bummed that they don’t have wider ran ban frames for women! There contact prices are more than Costco, but they price match. I’m trying out a new prescription of acuvue oasis… Will call back in a few days to order more if I like them

Parking — super easy — it’s Sears
Service — Valerie up front is very friendly and helpful. Not terribly pushy. The Dr. doesn’t have the best people skills, is not as professional as I would have expected from a Dr. I usually get a pair of new contacts to try, but since one of my old ones was the same, she only gave me one & reuse my old one in order to save herself some money. The exam was fine — just your routine, standard pretty much.
Glasses/​Contacts — They are cheaper online and at Costco, even with their discounts.
Caveat — The Dr. wrote my prescription for only one year to force me to go back next year. Usually they write it out for 2 years so I asked her about it. She lied and said the law requires that she only write it out for one year. Another optometrist advised me to get a copy of my records and then report her.
Recommendation: don’t go here — go somewhere else.

I have been looking around for good places to buy glasses, and as I am lacking in visual healthcare, and need to save as much as possible, and Sears’ deals are incredible. Compared to every other eyewear place out there (that I could find and believe me I looked…) their prices are the best. They have a 229.99 for any glasses in the store with total upgraded lenses (polycarbonate, scratch resistant, and anti-​reflective glare protection — that’s right I can’t be glared at anymore) or a 99.99 for 2 pairs of glasses (69.99 dollars or less frames).
The selection isn’t the biggest, but it is worthwhile and I found some that suited my rather strenuous qualifications (they happened to be the most expensive in the store priced at 209.99 — which means I got my $ 200 dollar lenses for $ 20 — booyah).
The people were nice — I went in yesterday and was helped by two different people, one who went out of his way to talk with me, and help me find what I wanted, didn’t pressure me but made some good points about making sure of what I wanted. Today I went in and got the better ones because of his recommendation, and the woman who helped me was caring and professional.
All in all I had a good experience. I hope the glasses get back to me before the 2 weeks they say it may take, so I have them before I leave on my trip, and that is the only reason I docked them a star — 2 weeks for lenses is more than most other places, but the savings and the selection make it worth it.
