Superb Cleaners

This is the worst place ever — do not go here! They do not post their prices and they overcharge. I took 2 dresses in to be dry cleaned and they charged me $ 15.00 each — way more than other cleaners in the area. When I asked them to show me their listed prices they couldn’t and kept saying it was «in the computer». They also ruined one of the dresses and wouldn’t give me even a partial refund.

Like other reviewers, I’ve had decent luck here with basic items (coats, shirts, etc). Superb is expensive, but I like supporting a local independent business in my neighborhood.
Then they ruined a brand new dress. It looks like they spot-​scrubbed an area so hard that the dye of the dress bled out. There’s no fixing the dress (which was custom made! UG!), and I get that mistakes happen, but I went back in to request a refund for the dry cleaning. They admitted fault, but refused to give me a refund. (Refusing a $ 15 refund on a $ 150 ruined dress — oof.)
Instead, they told me they would dry clean my next garment for free. So let me get this straight: I’m supposed to bring in something ELSE for you to ruin? Nope. There are two other dry cleaners within 3 blocks. I absolutely will not be supporting Superb any more.

Over priced. Then they charged me 33% more than they quoted and wouldn’t give me my stuff unless paid. Not worth the bad feelings!

Brought in four garments for dry cleaning — a down coat, a wool coat, a wool sweater, and a blazer. Staff was pleasant, but when I returned the day they suggested for pickup, they said my garments weren’t ready. Turns out they were, just not all grouped together and bagged for pickup, which makes me a little worried that not everything had been actually cleaned. For all of that, 70 bucks, which makes me feel a little cheated. Next time I’ll try the place across the street.

6 bucks to dry clean a shirt??? $ 5 just to press/​iron and since I brought my shirts clean just for press, the lady working there always tried to screw me and charge me for full dry cleaning service! It happens twice, I never go there again.

Have been using many neighborhood cleaners over the years and always had to count my shirts to maje sure I get them all back, look for stains, return shirts with crushed buttons, etc. WIth the folks here, I’ve been coming in every week for over 10 years w. never a problem. They’re really great.

$ 6.50 to dry clean one shirt. A cotton. Dress. Shirt.

I’ve been going to Superb Cleaners for over 5 years. The Korean mother who runs the place is my favorite. She is always kind and very proud of her business. I have had a few experiences where my pants end up with white spots on them (like bleach?) but the costs are low and they are quick and nice. They also have done excellent repairs to pants which were ripped.

I’m 5′ nothing, so I have to get all of my pants hemmed, even petite ones. Superb Cleaners has always done great. The alterations are well done, well priced and they don’t charge me until I pick it up, the time for which is well-​communicated.

I take my shirts here because it’s really close to my house and they do a good job. Obviously washing and pressing a dress shirt isn’t rocket science, so my I can’t speak to more delicate or complicated stuff, but I’ve been happy with what they do for me. Service is always quick and shirts take just a few days to get done.

I so wanted to like Superb Cleaners, and for most things I do. It’s convenient (well, for where I live) and they do all their dry cleaning on site, so the chances of something getting lost are less. They’ve done a blazer and a heavy sweater for me with no problems. The first time I took the blazer in it seemed a bit cleaner than it has at other cleaners — i.e., it seemed like they’d actually tried to clean under the arms, so the deodorant & smell were gone. The second time wasn’t so thorough. (side note & random musing: I often wonder whether dry cleaners actually clean garments or just spot treat the stains to make them look clean, since it seems like they never treat the underarms to get rid of that faint smell of sweat & deodorant.)
However, for delicate garments I can’t recommend Superb Cleaners. I have two brand-​new, very thin, delicate sweaters that I decided to trust them with after a few successful experiences with other items. I pointed out that they were delicate when I dropped them off. They came back beautifully folded on hangers with tissue, but when I took one sweater out to put it on, there was a slit down the back, ruining an expensive sweater I’d only worn once. Grr. I took it in with the receipt for the cleaning & the receipt for the sweater, and they would not agree to replace the sweater (probably because it was expensive), but offered instead to repair it, which would have been a difficult but not impossible job to do right. I pointed that out, but they insisted they’d do a good job. They didn’t — basically they just sewed the slit back together with a sewing machine and it’s obvious if you look closely. I can cover it with another sweater & it won’t show, but that wasn’t the original intent.
Also, another (nitpicky) complaint: I hate it when cleaners use plastic taggers to attach their tags to my garment, and I hate it when they use safety pins to attach things to hangers, because this leaves holes in some fabrics. Superb Cleaners does both, so that’s another minor strike against them.
For the basics, they’re fine, but for fancier, delicate garments I’d say try someone else.
