Taylor 28

After moving multiple times in the last few years, including cities such Las Vegas, San Francisco, Denver and recently Austin… This is our favorite apartment… by far! Jiahana made it a really great/​smooth transition! We appreciate the great experience!
Great location, beautiful facilities from the exterior to the tiniest detail in our apartment. We are lucky we found this gem we calm home now!

Taylor 28 was the first apartment I lived in since moving to Seattle. I absolutely love my apartment, as it is a corner unit with tons of windows. When searching for an apartment originally, I looked at A LOT of apartments in the area. Taylor 28 beat all of them in terms of what you get for an apartment compared to costs. The one bedroom apartment was much more spacious than anything else I was considering, which was a huge factor for me.
Location of Taylor 28 is awesome as it is quick access to Belltown, Queen Anne and DT. I walk everywhere with Zipcar available not far.
The second factor I was looking for in an apartment was the amenities as I moved here from another country. This is where I am disappointed in living here as the amenities are nice, but no one uses them. I wanted to be able to BBQ and socialize with fellow residents and unfortunately this rarely occurs. I rarely see anyone use the patio or indoor kitchen/​hangout space. The gym is well utilized.
The staff are awesome and Rhone helped me with anything and everything before and after moving in. Nate, the maintenance guy, is quick to get anything done while I’m away at work and always friendly when I see him.
One thing the building should add is Active Directory for packages as it doesn’t have this.
I’ve decided to leave Taylor 28 solely for the social aspect I’m missing living here. If that is not a factor for you, I highly recommend Taylor 28 overall. I will miss my home here.

I don’t live here anymore, but I stayed in Taylor 28 for 2 years with my sister in a 2 bedrooms apt. The environment is nice, the building is clean and pretty, but the managers were horrible. I hope they already changed the people. Bre properties does need to work on selecting their ppl :/
I remember they were insulting my sister when she was asking for her deposit back when we moved out. I wish I was there with my sister so I could remember the name of the manager.
Also they were always out busy with something and it’s really hard to get your packages …
Sometimes you order something and want it to be delivered in 1 day but then the managers never show up.
You can’t cry to get your 1-​day delivery fee back.

I lived at Taylor28 for about a year or so before I relocated to Mercer Island. I rented a studio but I stayed at my boyfriend’s 2BR quite a bit so I have perspective on two types of rooms.
The staff were generally cordial. I dealt mostly with Chris and Jesse. Both are nice people. I agree that the manager does seem a bit distant and not as friendly but I didn’t have many interactions with her.
Studio room: the room layout I got was quite strange — the wall was angled so planning for furniture was a bit strange. There is W/​D in every unit and they managed to fit W/​D even in a studio. The balcony doors are kind of strange though — the locks are not your standard locks. Living on the top floor, I never had any issues with noise.
Two bedroom: ridiculously large floorplan. If you’re lucky you can get the floorplan by the Space Needle. With the large windows, it was an absolutely gorgeous view (when the sun is out). The room also had ridiculously large bathrooms. The bedrooms themselves were a bit on the smaller side though.
Hallways — wide and often empty. The carpet used to look kind of dingy but I believe they had swapped it out.
Elevators — two in the building A (don’t know about building B). One was a service elevator so if you needed to move you can reserve that one.
Trash chute/​recycling: at least one one every floor (if not two) — the rooms can get kind of smelly because people put in beer bottles and what not in the recycling bin.
Lounge — nice but I rarely used them. They have cool rocking seatbelt seats.
Computer lounge — pretty awful. The computers are quite old and at some point they required a password. I would skip.
Parking garage — pretty tight spaces. You generally have to pay for parking as well.
Maintenance staff — pretty good, they are very responsive! Generally get back to you within 24 hours.
Location: I wasn’t too thrilled about the location of Taylor 28 — it’s not super close to the QFC, and it’s not super close to downtown Seattle/​Pike Place. Most places still require a 10 – 20 minute walk.
Security deposit: I cleaned and cleaned and still managed to get half of my security deposit taken away. It was only $ 45 loss so I guess it could be worse.
Anyway, if you’re looking for a modern apartment that isn’t in the heart of downtown Seattle, Taylor28 is not bad. I found that the rents were reasonable.

Ok, so I don’t live here, but my very short interaction with this property today had me absolutely baffled. Upon arriving here and reading the reviews, I guess I’m no longer surprised.
I am in town, on a 4 day house finding trip with only a couple hours left of day 3. My relocation assistant tells me that Taylor 28 may have an apartment that meets the needs for me and my wife. I call the office at 3:38pm and get a long-​winded, unintelligible greeting from someone who’s name I couldn’t make out. I ask him what time they were open until. He tells me they are open until 6pm. So I tell him that I am about 5 minutes down the road and ask if my wife and I can come by immediately and see what they have. The gentleman informs me that they don’t show anything after 3:30pm. As ridiculous as it sounds to not show anything after 3:30pm on a damn Monday, I skip right to the next obvious question and ask him what time they open up in the morning. He tells me that they open at 9am. Fine, this might be ok still, so I tell him that we’ll come by in the morning if that was ok. So he says to me, I sh*t you not, «we don’t show anything until 2pm»!!! At this point I’m dumbstruck. «So you don’t show anything until 2pm, and you stop showing at 3:30pm … wha? how do you. ? why!?». His response was, «I can’t tell you, would you like to set something up for tomorrow at 3pm?»
The answer was, of course, a resounding hell no! The guy I was talking to sounded like he either had a 6^th grade education or was just high as a kite. If someone is literally 5 minutes down the road and ready to give you money, you get off your lazy ass and you show them what they want to see. Don’t even bother with these guys, judging by the other reviews, this moron might have actually saved us a huge headache.

I wanted to provide my experience and feedback after living in Taylor 28 for the past year, and upon signing an 8 month renewal. As with most review sites, its easy to provide feedback when we are frustrated and upset, but often times the positive aspects get left to the wayside, so here goes.
Taylor 28 has been my home for a year now. Management is amazing. Below I’ve listed some Pro’s as well as personal experiences I’ve had:
1 — Prompt servicing of anything in the apartment including a washing machine door that stopped latching, replacement of light bulbs, etc
2 — Great package availability during peak holiday seasons, as well as delivery to my apt when I couldn’t swing down.
3 — Use of common areas is always available, clean and working sufficiently including:
–Business center printers
–Free Condo Internet
–General use bathrooms are pristine
–Workout facility has equipment this is fairly new and is always in working condition
4 — Excellent communication of rent payment due dates and closures of the office during holidays etc
5 — Excellent communication of need to know dates, deliveries and holiday schedules to allow residents to plan accordingly.
6 — Amazing customer services from Chris Glow and Jesse Plack. Both of these gentlemen are always incredibly positive no matter what the circumstances. They are honest and genuine, creating a very comfortable atmostphere at Taylor 28. Not to mention how resourceful they are and incredibly knowledgeable about the property and Seattle in general. Simply put, these two guys really make living here a great experience.
7 — Great outdoor areas with clean furniture always avaialble for use and the working BIG grills. Such a great option
8 — due to the outdoor sprinklers, if you have a balcony you can own your own grill. HUGE plus in my books.
9 — Great water pressure and due to the style of heating tanks, always hot water when you need it.
Cons:
To ensure my review is taken seriously, here ya go, a few areas of improvement or things to consider:
1 — Parking is reasonable but the spaces are tight. Just keep it in mind
2 — Construction — the hours for construction truly don’t interfere with my day as I’m gone from 8 – 6, but there is a decent amount of building and construction goign on today. However in my opinion the noise level truly isn’t too bad.
3 –I feel safe and secure in this building and location. In any city you have to account for the factors of crime etc, however (I also lived in Chicago and DC), with common sense and not walking alone late in the evenings, I feel very comfortable here. Some have noted homeless folks, and yes there are people living around the area with homeless title. Although not ideal for most, this is a part of Seattle in general so take that as you will.
4 — Email is the best way to get ahold of the office when you need something. I’ve found that trying to call is usually a bit of a run around and the best service comes from Chris and Jesse.
Hope this gives a fair representation of Taylor 28. Overall, I really enjoy living here. For those who feel they were misrepresented by anything in the rental agreement here is my advice:
With any, truly ANY rental agreement, a managed building or private owner/​rental, always read your documents and ask lots of questions. Your rental charge can go up after your lease term end. Know how many days notice you need to give, before you even need to give it. Such as at Taylor, I know I need to alot for at least 60 days or 2 months notice. Just part of the terms of the agreement. The best way to feel comfortable with your rental agreement, and not feel ‘screwed’ when something comes up, is to be knowledgeable and ask questions before hand.
As mentioned, Chris and Jesse, along with the other management personnel are great. They are an open book and will help you with anything you need. Thanks!

DO NOT RENT FROM BRE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT! They will charge you upon move out unjustifiably. Rather than contact you, they directly send your bill to a collections agent.
One of the major problems I encountered during my 2 years stay at Taylor 28 was related to the frustration due to the poor communication and rude attitude exhibited by the community managers. They are slow to respond to emails or return phone calls and are only responsive when I follow up a couple of times or stop by the leasing office.
When I finally got hold of senior manager, Ms. Beth Lincoln, I was always treated with disrespect, she was always unwilling to have an open dialogue with me and created such a hostile environment that really disgusted me. Her attitude may be due to the fact that she may not want to communicate with persons with Asian ethnicity as she always communicated with my Caucasian partner. Upon move out, I complained to BRE Property management so that other tenants of Asian ethnicity would not have to ensure the treatment I received.
Unfortunately, my complaint was NOT taken seriously as senior level management. It has been nearly 3 months since I have moved out and they have been unresponsive & did not conduct a proper investigation like they ensured me they would.
A recent case in point was related to my telephone conversation with community manager Beth Lincoln to discuss issues related to my termination of my month to month lease. After many emails and calls and confusing messages from Taylor 28 office, I finally got hold of. Ms. Lincoln in the hope of getting things clarified and properly settled. I reiterated that Taylor 28 had received an email on June 26, 2012 regarding my intent NOT to renew the lease and to go month to month. Before I was able to finish my sentence, Beth cut me off, raised her voice at me and belittled me. She claimed that an email is not an written notice according to her legal interpretation of the lease. Ms. Lincoln was rude in the call, raised her voice at me several times and cut me off when I am in the middle of a sentence. Not only was it rude but I felt as I was the subject of targeted racism.
During my two years with Taylor 28, I have a perfect record in paying rent in the most timely manner and was friendly to all fellow tenants and did not cause any trouble for anyone. My lease expired on July 20, 2012 and I went month to month and paid the July rent including month to month additional fees I gave notice to vacate my unit on June 26, 2012 and again on July 9, 2012 to secure a move out.
I did not receive any contact from Taylor 28 management until a bill was sent to me in the mail for $ 1402.79. When I called the office, I spoke to Kisaol, who informed me that there was an error with the conservice bill and I in fact only owe $ 78. After hearing nothing from her, I called back and she then stated I owe about $ 2000 without more details. For 4 months, I dealt with Taylor 28 community managers to rectify the move out statement billing me for August rent.
I filed a formal written complaint to senior management at BRE properties & they have failed to take it seriously. In the end, I paid the bill because I wanted all of this to end.
Don’t rent here if you don’t want the hassle! And you want to be treated fairly!

We lived here for 2 years, it was all fine in terms of location, size of the apartment and the maintenance crew.
We were generally warm towards the staff who were nice especially Chris and Denyse, unfortunately Beth, the property manager was very cold and unhelpful. The office closes at the times that are convenient for picking up packages. The internet service is very slow with an unwillingness to allow new service providers into the building.
The real problems emerged when we were seeking to move out, we gave the required 20 days notice period if you were moving to month to month billing. However, we then started a long process of them billing us unreal amounts claiming that we had not given notice despite the fact we had emails to prove it.
The amount due changed on a regular basis, without much explanation.
When we sought to talk to the corporate office in SF due to the lack of professionalism from the property manager, we were met with an unwillingness to talk.
Overall it was a very degrading experience and I would avoid any BRE property.

Below is an email I sent after my experience today:
I made an appointment to view the property, which I would like to cancel.
I called this evening after 5pm, local time and spoke with a representative, I assume in the management office.
I requested a quick tour of the property, which is currently vacant, #519, for this evening, as I was within two blocks and was very interested in a year+ lease. I explained my work schedule 9am-​5pm, and that I didn’t need any additional tours of the property, but that I just wanted a quick peek of the unit, to see if it would even be adequate for my families needs. (Many two bedrooms I have toured, are not adequate, usually due to layout, which is hard to discern from floorplans).
The agent informed me that they did not tour after five PM. I again, mentioned my work schedule, and she again (very politely, as I understand this is policy she was enforcing, not necessarily endorsing), mentioned that they have these policies, (tours from 10am-4:30pm), in order to ensure fairness to all applicants.
As someone who works 9 – 5, who gets a short lunch hour, I inquired as to how such a policy was fair to those of us with such schedules, as it lends to the fact that the only available time we could tour the property was on Saturdays, she mentioned that most would go on their lunch hour. I again, do not see how such a policy is considered FAIR, especially considering the rents that are being charged, the location, and the (Please be aware all pricing and availability are subject to change at any time without notice) message in my email. Given the location, I can gather many of the residents probably are employed by the same or very similar employer.
I am very disappointed in this *policy*, and wanted to inform Taylor 28, and perhaps Bre properties, that this particular policy has driven me away as a customer from this property in particular, and likely other Bre properties.
Please be aware of how you may affect those customers, by such *policies*, and I encourage you to *train* your employees on how to best explain *fair* to someone.

I lived in Taylor 28 for a year. The management is awesome and does a great job in managing the building. When there are issues they resolve them quickly and professionally. The building is centrally located and pretty much has everything you could want close. The downsides include constant construction, noisy homeless people, and a relentless corporation bent on squeezing every dollar out of very apartment. I lived on the back of the building so I had to hear buses all the time. It was not uncommon to be woken up by the construction workers at 7AM. This will only get worse when they knock down the building next door for new apartments.
Even with all of this, I would have stayed if it were not for a 9.5% rent increase that could not be negotiated. I was told that I was lucky that it wasn’t 15%, which is crazy considering all the construction. Be warned that BRE will raise your rent no matter what and the management staff are not able to help. Rates are set by a central corporation and corporations need to grow profit. Whats worse is that the apartment is now renting for $ 150 under my rent.
Lastly, you will not get back your security deposit. I was initially charged a cleaning fee and 75% of the paint job. When I asked for an itemized list of the charges, since I have never been charged a single dollar from another apartment community; I was not provided with any list of charges. They did lower the fees but without any explanation. Again the corporate accountants tack these fees on in an attempt to keep the enire security deposit. When you move be sure to do a walk through and take pictures. I am certain BRE will see a lawsuit over this practice.

okay… I live here long enough like 3 years I guess. Don’t remember exactly date when I move in. if you looking for a apt, You don’t want to live here and I moved out last year. I was moved in by attracting with beautiful lobby, gym room and business center. But soon you will knew that’s about it as soon as you moved in, The people been complain about Taylor 28 are the employees who works there. They are too cold. not just not to greeting you when they see you (well they gretting very much when you looking to rent) but that’s it. Eveything by policy when you move it. they very good at that when you need help. for example; when some thing need fix. they not here to help. The customer service was not provided. The manager was even worse, she is not professional at all. many times we complain to her and she was really don’t care about it. The leasing office sign the package for renter, however they closed all the time and there are no sign in the door to tell us when will get back. (I hope they have the sign now.) They closed at 10 am, noon, 2pm or 4pm sometime when I went pick up my package, they just closed randomly without notice. the noise is really bad, we hear evey thing… the building was good in the first year when we move in, it was brand new building we was the first ranter in our apt, but we found construction proble soon in second year, all the apt door are getting aslant and hard to open, many of renter called and fix, the maintenance guy told us this may need to fix every once a while. There was a big water leaking in 1^st floor parking lot when we stay there. Parking space need to pay extra, I don’t have pet so I don’t know the pet policy but I know that the pet is allowed. In Seattle most apt allowed you to have pet. Taylor 28 start rant low but soon next year they raise really high, the price we paid on 3^rd year we stay there are able to rent 2 apt in the building arround that area, they get you in first and they know people are most likly lazy to move out once you move in. overall this place is not good, why I live so long? I am just lazy to move and plan to buy my own hours so I end out put up with it. there is apt call annalise right next to haytt hotel is a gooc choise if you really want to live around space needle. compare the Taylor 28 always have it;s vacancy, annalise are always rent out. is not just because annalise is smaller building than Taylor 28, its really better customer service, I move to annalise after move out Taylor 28, I really see the difference!

Sammy is not lying. Taylor 28 is one of the most sketchy apartment companies I’ve ever dealt with.
The apartment itself is new, but not as nice as many others downtown Seattle. The walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors and the garbage chute. I lived on the north side and the exit stairwell smelt like dog urine twice a week an occasionally had dog poo smeared along the stairs. The building never cared to clean this or investigate whose dog it was. When I left, it still smelled.
There is a security guard Friday night and Saturday night because the building is in front of a sketchy underage club that has homeless people ²⁴⁄₇. There was a shooting there last year. The apartment themselves are expensive for what you get. It is not hardwood floor like advertised, it’s laminate. Everything looks nice at first, but once you live there, you realize the builders were cheap on a lot of things (ie/​rubber stickies to cover the gap between the laminate and bathroom tiles which just came off, blinds that break and bend, baseboard heating, no central air, etc).
The bigger problems come when your lease is ending or after you have moved out.
I lived here for 2 years and had found another place that was available 3 months after my lease ended so I decided to go on the month-​to-​month lease. Month-​to-​month has a $ 250 premium. Fine, I’ll pay that. What they don’t tell you is that they increase the rent by a random $ 100 AND charge you the premium.
It gets even worse when you move out. I told Taylor28 months in advance that I was moving out, and they still insisted on charging me an extra month of rent (4 months in total instead of 3) even though the laws says I only need to pay for 30 days after I tell them I’m moving out (meaning, I owe them nothing). When I tell them the law, they say I need to pay an additional 2 months of rent (now 5 months in total) for absolutely no good reason. They make up statements without knowing the laws to cheat tenants.
Then, in order for them to keep your $ 600 security deposit, they make up random $ 200 fees that say nothing but «premium fee» or just «fee» when there is already a $ 250 Month-​to-​Month premium charge.
If you search for other apartment reviews about Taylor28, they all say the management company is a bunch of criminals.

I was looking for a place and Taylor 28 fit a lot of my criteria. The location is central, near a drugstore, a park and a grocery store. It’s quiet, but not in the boonies. The building has a wide variety of floor plans and a lot of details that other buildings lack. They have standard ceiling fans, actual wooden shelves rather than wire ones in the closets, and nice views of the needle. It would be a good place to live.
The leasing staff (particularly Denyse) is super professional and kind. I felt like she was always speaking the truth rather than trying to sell me something (unlike other leasing agents I’ve dealt with). She is knowledgeable about her building and overall a pleasure to work with.
No I’m not related to her. Just saying, the staff make the building and she is awesome.

I feel bad for the guy above, but I find it hard to believe we live in the same place. I love this place! I work at another downtown apartment building so I am very picky. This place is not only in a great location, but has been nothing but 5 stars since I moved in. It is a relaxing environment and the staff has been amazing. I have had 2 maitenance requests since I moved in and they have been there the same day. If you’re thinking about the downtown Seattle area, check this place out too! I live in the «Dramatic» and LOVE it (and so do my dogs) Happy hunting!
