brunch food: the«not» brown. fried chicken with toast. it was amazing. it was on the special menu, so im not sure how often they push that out. however, i took a bite out of everybody’s plate in the table. one reason to have friends. my least favorite was the pork belly. it wasnt that flavorful for pork belly and the corn bread was dry. my favorite was the chicken fritter. just thinking about it now makes me hungry. ***5/5 service: everything smells awesome. i got mad as all the tables are eating and i wasnt. they do provide you some complimentary scones to ease the hangriness. ***4/5 value: not too bad. typical brunch pricing in seattle. i would definitely come back to try the other foods. ***4/5

We stopped in here Saturday morning before the brunch rush. It’s good to get there early(we got there around 9ish) they did fill up quickly and there was a wait by the time we left. We were seated right away at a communal table. I’m not a real fan of communal tables(I like my space and elbow room) BUT it worked! The table was a little high for my liking but I’m on the short side and I’m picky with seating so I’m sure you won’t have a problem with this. We started off with French Press Coffee and their complimentary scones. The coffee was great and the scones even better. You can’t beat a free treat! The scone had had great flavor, crumbled just enough and not too dry. It was basically a perfect scone! We went on to order the Winner Winner Chicken Fritter and The Southern Belle. We had seen pictures online but they did not do these entrees justice! Their entrees are HUGE and the presentation is top notch! The bee/friend LOVED the Chicken Fritter and said he would definitely order it again. My Southern Belle was good BUT it wasn’t amazing. I’m a big fan of eggs benny and again this was good but not in my top 5 or even top 10 I would say. I think it was the sauce that I wasn’t a fan of. OH, but their potatoes are definitely in my top 5! I believe they’re Rosemary potatoes and they were delicious! They didn’t need ketchup or any condiment, they were perfect by themselves. Overall, after reading soooooo many great reviews, we were not disappointed by this place! The service was FANTASTIC! The lady who served us was sooooo friendly! She alone deserves 5 stars and made our dining experience that much better. The food and presentation were great and I look forward to coming back and trying a few other menu items. All together our bill was about $ 40 before tip but that was for two entrees, coffee and complimentary scones. We are not light eaters and we definitely only ate half of each entrée and were stuffed. Entrees are a little on the pricey side for brunch BUT you are definitely getting your money’s worth here. NO hipster-bite-size portions here!

Came here hoping to get a mimosa and egg Benedict brunch. The wait is ridiculous, we were promised 35 minute wait. It is now creeping on an 1hr 10 mins and on top of that they sold out of any kind of egg Benedict related entrée(defeats my purpose of going here if it’s now for scrambled eggs and orange juice for my birthday). I’m neither pleased with the way business is ran with underquoting your customers by twice their wait time and being informed before brunch even ends that both the entrees I want are unavailable. The only reason why I’m rating it 2 stars is because we got comped free drinks. But that’s about it. Horrible experience.

Yum… and definitely worth the trek to Greenlake on a sunny weekend(yikes). A couple friends and I came around 1030 on a Saturday so we had to wait about 25 minutes BUT it was worth it. The space feels cozy and homey and the waitstaff was professional(not overly friendly). I had the southern belle, an amazing eggs ben with fried green tomatoes(so good). The food is definitely on the heavy side, so all three of us left stuffed and with a box to go. Not that I’m complaining!

What fun, what fun! The Butcher & the Baker & the delicious brunch food maker! I had the Winner Winner Chicken Fritter… for the win! The breading on the chicken was crispy, salty and perfectly seasoned, and the sauce/gravy was exceptional. Extra points for the huge stack of crispy parsnips(!?) on top, which provided a little bit of sweet flavor, extra crunch, and a wow factor. The other win was my blood orange mimosa — so delicious! The hash was weird though. Some kind of dark overpowering spices took attention away from the otherwise awesome corned beef. I have to give major props for creativity — even reading the menu was a delightful experience. I want to go back and try all the things. –Until next time!

Oh The Butcher & The Baker, you had me at hello. You know the warm, welcoming, and«We’re genuinely happy you decided to stop in» hello that was so nicely presented to us as soon as we walked in, despite the fact that everyone working during our visit was busy with several other things? That type of hello is hard to come by especially when you come in on a Saturday afternoon to a place that you know was busy for brunch. The server, who was also the hostess who greeted us was absolutely delightful-super attentive as well as consistent in her service with the other tables. As obvious from the five stars the food was also delicious. I had the French Polynesian which was a perfect balance of salty, sweet, spicy while my husband had the Urban Goat which changed my belief that a sandwich must contain meat to taste good!

This place is so cozy and the food is really exceptional! The interior of the small space feels just like home and knowing that all of the ingredients are homegrown and fresh/organic makes the food taste all the more savory, flavorful, and deeelicious. I split the Potato Hash with a friend(portions are HUGE!) and it was very filling and extremely satisfying. It was cold and rainy outside so it was great to have a rustic, warm brunch. We went on a Saturday around 11AM, so I’m not sure if this is just a weekend thing or if they do it daily, but we got complimentary scones with homemade jam before our meal! It was a very sweet treat! Would definitely come back and try something new~ Also, it’s worth the wait(if there is one)!

I love me some hipster brunch place. They sever nice home made jams as appetizers and very friendly service. Imagine your typical PNW rainy Saturday but with people still dining outside under a tent with quality locally sourced ingredients. The animal proteins are what shines in the menu so I wouldn’t recommend this for vegetarians.

Hey meat lovers you will love the menu. The weekend’s brunch and lunch choices are awesome. I also like the fact that the meat came from a local butcher. We came early afternoon on Sunday and the wait wasn’t long. Over all awesome!

Hands down my favorite brunch spot in the Greenlake area! This neighborhood gem is a small, but cozy location that has wonderful service and even more amazing food. I have tried both the Bailey’s French Toast and the Winner Winner Chicken Fritter(minus the egg). The Bailey’s French Toast is surprisingly light, considering it looks pretty frightening when it comes out of the kitchen. Served with vanilla bean syrup and assorted berries — the dish really comes together to create a party in my tummy. Now for the Winner Winner Chicken Fritter — this basically encompasses all that is wonderful — fried chicken, YES, bacon cheddar biscuit, YES, and country gravy, YES. This dish is amazingly flavorful and the portion is reasonable. I would say that the parsnips made the dish look pretty, but I would cut back on the parsnips as it got in the way of me attacking the biscuits and gravy. Overall, I’m in love with this place, and take friends who are in town, any chance I get! Definitely visit this gem if you are in the area.

Really good brunch today. Expect to wait in line on the weekend. It was 40min wait for us but luckily the host was accurate on that guess so we took a walk around and came back. Our waitress was so friendly and on top of her game. She was helpful when a friend wanted to substitute items on the menu. I ordered the southern belle and a Bellini to drink. Both were quite tasty. They make the hollandaise sauce fresh every morning for the eggs Benedict. Cured pork really means ham. The ham was the best part of the combination I’d say. Butcher lives up to his title. My friend’s hash also had a fine slab of meat on top. Impressive. Rosemary potatoes were perfect flavors but could’ve been better texture. Also my meal was a little expensive so negative points for that. The ingredients are quality though and after all it is seattle(this place is getting pricy!) Overall I enjoyed it and will likely be back. I’ll try something different next time, maybe French toast!

I came here with my friend visiting Seattle from LA. She is from LA, the Mecca of food. And I’m also from LA, who moved to Seattle not too long ago. I admit that our palettes have been a little spoiled due to the dynamic, famous, Instagram-worthy restaurants in LA. It was a little hard finding legit brunch places here in Seattle. I left many restaurants feeling disappointed. So I was a little skeptical as a first timer entering Butcher and Baker as well. We had 4 people total, and we were seated right away on a Sunday brunch time(mind you, I remember seeing lines outside the place). Greeted by our warm waitress, we ordered the hash, southern belle(eggs Benedict), and one other dish(I forgot what we ordered). After, we were greeted by some homemade scones. Best part about it: free! When our dishes came out, I was so shocked at the portions because they were huuuuge! It was a bit on the heavier side for me, but all the dishes were pretty good. I just wish there were more greens on their menu. I’ll probably come back to try their most Unilocaled chicken and their French toast(even though I’m afraid it’ll be more heavy than what I ordered this time)

We made it a goal to visit this place for brunch based on the reviews we read. We already knew we wanted to share the french toast and house hash plates. Once we got there, this place most definitely delivered and met expectations. The french toast is super thick, topped with berries, and baileys cream. You’re also given a side of vanilla bean syrup to top it all off with. I personally don’t like fruit on french toast or pancakes at all, but I ordered this with everything on it in order to enjoy it as it was originally meant to be. I honestly didn’t mind the berries because everything on this dish was a perfect complement to one another. The flavors worked extremely well together. The house hash consisted of a bed of potatoes and a variety of vegetables that tasted almost like a stew of some sorts. The slab of corned beef was cooked to absolute perfection, and the poached eggs added a nice consistency and flavor to the rest of the dish. We were more than satisfied with the taste of both dishes. When it comes to the mimosas, I feel they could have been a lot better, especially given their price tag. The portions are generous, the flavors are robust, and the ambiance is just another reminder of how beautiful the city and it’s people are. The place does get busy early, and even though it was mid October, once this place gets packed, it can be quite warm inside, especially if you’re sitting directly in front of the kitchen. If it isn’t too chilly for you, I would suggest sitting outside if possible.

Food here comes out really quickly. They have a small menu but they execute it well. On the weekends, they give everyone at the table a free scone and homemade jam for free which is a plus. I ordered the southern belle which is eggs benedict with fried green tomatoes, cures pork leg(essentially ham) and garlic collard greens with a side of home fries. The eggs were poached medium. Hollandaise sauce was nice. You could eat each piece of the Benedict separately or together and either way the food is still good. There’s a good size piece of the cured pork leg on each benedict. The cured pork leg is essentially ham, there was a good bite to it and it wasn’t too salty which I appreciated. The potatoes are done really well but I like potatoes regardless. They create their own table sauces here but none were too memorable. Service was solid. Water was consistently being filled up. I really appreciate when food comes out really quickly especially when I’m hungry. Solid brunch place.

Pros: Cute restaurant, nice décor, and friendly staff. Nice presentation, good portion for breakfast/brunch. Flavorful for simple dishes, nice touch with homemade sauces. Prompt service despite business. Cons: Average taste coffee, maybe I should try their alcoholic beverage next time? Not the most clean/upkeep place. Some folks complained about price, I think it’s fair of what they are charging, considering their location, the quality and quantity. But yeah, maybe $ 40 – 50 breakfast/brunch for 2 people is a bit expensive for some?

I got the Winner Winner Chicken Fritter and it was the best fried chicken I had in a while! The coating was crispy, savory with good seasoning, and the gravy was so good. The biscuit I had underneath was kinda dry and I didn’t care for it but the fried parsnips gave it a good crunch! I was also happy that they had French pressed coffee there by the full or half size.

Huge proportions but a little but spendy as well. The meat on the food is delicious but the meals were a little heavy for brunch. Overall the food and service here was good but I wish it had more green on the menu. I got the hash and it was very heavy.

I had a Saturday brunch that was simple and delicious at the same time. I really like places that have a simple home feel with great food. The Butcher and The Baker is just that. Restaurant has both an inside and outside seating area for you to choose from. Hardest decision is what you order for your meal. Food at brunch time is absolutely wonderful! During my meal I had the Chicken Fritter and the Pork Belly. The meal started with a couple of scones with jam. Then the main courses were served. The fritter was chicken with gravy and a hint of numerous other ingredients. Pork belly meat is as soft and juicy as an orange, but with a meatier flavor. I’m definitely going back to try every dish on the menu.

One more place in Seattle where Butcher shop and dining area are integrated into one. This place is apparently pretty famous for brunch. I just checked the overall rating on Unilocal and jumped right in, not knowing that the brunch time was over, and we were stuck with a few sandwich options for lunch. Now, don’t get me wrong, the sandwiches were not bad. But everything I liked in the photos posted on Unilocal were on the brunch menu. It was not at all crowded when we got there and we pretty much chose where we wanted to sit. We got the beast and Rouxben and the food was served promptly. The beast is served with a small bowl of Au-jux and it tasted amazing; The Rouxben not as tasty as the beast. Overall, it was good except for the steep price!!! And I don’t believe the quality, taste or presentation matched the price tag. Will I be back? Most definitely, but just for brunch.
