This place is fine as far as beverage variety and atmosphere go(nothing special though). However, tonight when I ordered the hummus plate, the waitress went straight into the back small kitchen where I watched her toss my pita bread into the toaster oven with bare hands(which she did not wash). Uncool. Icky. No thanks!

I am a mixed bag on this one — Per my earlier rating this place has changed. We are pretty regular but after a few weeks of being out of town and family we came back in last night. Our typical evening consists of eating somewhere near by(food options are not great, the last time my fiancé had the meatballs they were so salty he couldn’t eat them) but we love the live music aspect and the beer/wine selection. Last night we were floored with the lack of service. We walked in, got drinks within a few moments and all went downhill from there, the waitress never came back, finally after we had been sitting, no water, no drinks for quite awhile she came back to check on us, we ordered another round and enjoyed the music while we watched at least 3 tables come in and not be greeted for 10 minutes plus while the waitress sat behind the bar and chatted with one of their regular musicians(we do enjoy him — he is great). One of the tables actually had to get up from their 4 top and request service. This happened for at least an hour plus, it was through the full last set of the musician, and both before and after. She sat and chatted, no checking back with people, no refilling drinks, nothing but chatting. The kicker of the evening was her coming back to the table with a glass of wine she admitted was probably bad due to the way it was closed — with this I promptly said, «I’ll take a new one then». Again, we loved this place, and have been regulars. Loved the small, homey, wine bar with live music and I am unsure about the future. It’s a bummer.

One of my favorite West Seattle places, but the service has gone down hill recently. I’m rooting for this place to survive because I love the live music and drink selection, but given the service, I’m not sure it’s going to make it. We’ve now been waiting 10 minutes to get a drink. The bartender/server is the worse and it’s not even busy. The owner needs to be more present if this place is going to survive. Good luck. Gave the Cask another try recently, and this time it was both owners(husband and wife) tending the bar. Service was better, but the wife did not know anything about the wines or beer they serve. It was a little odd for an owner to not know what you’re serving. Again, I’m rooting for this place, but it keeps letting me down. It went from a quant wine and beer bar to a place lacking identity. Because I’m a design architect, I probably care more about my environment than most. There’s cheesy lit beer signs on the walls and windows, and the beer menu sign use to be nicely done and now it’s a cheap dry-erase board that looks like it was done by a 5 year old. It’s slowly starting to feel like someone’s basement man cave rather than a nice place to go out for drinks. Is the Cask a wine bar, or is it a sports bar? If I wanted a sports bar I would go to Admiral Pub where the cheesy beer signs make sense among the large TVs and pool table.

Stopped by about a month ago to check the place out. Great food and atmosphere. Nice to have live music playing and still be able to carry on a conversation.

I used to love this place, it was one of my favorite restaurants. However, the new owners have eliminated the chef position and the food offerings are now only a meat & cheese plate and a hummus plate. I will not be back.

I came here to see a friend play music during dinner time, knowing it was a wine bar I figured there would be light food, but something at least. I arrive to find out all they have to offer is a hummus plate(hummus, feta, tomatoes and cucumbers) and a meat and cheese plate. Having a severe dairy allergy I decline both because I can’t have cheese and I am one of the many people who don’t like raw tomatoes. The offerings were slim, but I didn’t make a big deal about it, and eventually had to grab a quick snack from the met market before I got low blood sugar. The bartender and I’m assuming owner has the nerve to lecture me about bringing food into his bar, telling me I was rude and not even giving me an opportunity for me to clearly make my point before walking away. I completely lost my appetite due to his rudeness, because I would have loved to eat here if I could have. They really need to work on their food offerings, but in the mean time I won’t be coming here.

We just moved to the neighborhood and dropped in for a glass of wine post dinner when we heard the music as we walked by. What a great little wine bar! Cozy atmosphere, great live music, good wine selection, friendly staff. Not being meat eaters, the menu is quite limited for us so I can’t speak to the quality of the food but we’ll happily stop in to this great neighborhood spot for a glass of wine and some live music.

This is a fantastic wine bar with a humble live show every few times a week. I love it! I recommend this chill wine bar to any one who loves wine and being chill.

Fantabulous small sexy cozy neighborhood place filled with great people, awesome staff, great owners, live music, fresh art, wine on tap and now… drum roll… more food! The food is AMAZING! We are self proclaimed foodies and we both agreed hands down best meatball we have ever eaten! The chicken pot pie looked phenomenal but they ran out :(. They only have a quarter of a shoebox kitchen and we are wondering how it is possible to cook such tasty interesting food! Must be super innovative! Of course only having that size of a kitchen is going to limit your ability to churn out food so… it takes awhile and then some… just go before you get hungry and you will thoroughly enjoy this little sultry gem

Fabulous beer selection and wine list(although pricey…). The cheese plate was overpriced for the amount of cheese and charcuterie served, but definitely delicious. The chef, who personally visited our table to deliver the entrees, was passionate about his creations, giving us cooking tips for how to sear swordfish perfectly and wine pairing suggestions. His excitement for food and wine was nice to see, and gave our evening out that extra special sparkle. I agree with the previous post about misplaced TV playing sports. It dumbs down the intimate, chill, slightly romantic vibe. I get that beer goes hand-in-hand with sports, but come on, who goes to a wine bar to watch football? All in all, the food was phenomenal and made with true passion and creativity by top-notch chef. The wine by the glass was over priced(best to just get a bottle), and the service was exquisite. We will definitely be back.

Let’s set the scene: I decide to take my dad out for his birthday dinner. He says he wants to check The Cask out and I say«Are you sure you want to go to a wine bar?» He seems genuinely interested, so I appease. It is his birthday dinner, after all. I don’t know if I’ve had a more underwhelming dining experience in recent memory. It was a Saturday night and we were two of the four customers in the place, it was awkwardly quiet, the menu was small –OK, it’s a wine bar I can let that go – , but our server didn’t even know what the soup of the day was. We ordered our food and I got an overpriced glass of wine. I swear there wasn’t an option under $ 9. My dad and I both took about two seconds to decide we both wanted the cabernet braised beef with herb gorgonzola polenta. We were disappointed with the portion size, but I will admit it was very tasty. They did have a musician come in toward the end of our meal playing acoustic covers, which was awesome. But the place was still dead at 9pm on a Saturday night. One weird little thing: there was football on TV in an otherwise very intimate wine bar. Weird, right? It seems like their target market would be escaping the sporting world rather than seeking a place to watch it. A target market that I am definitely not a part of.

What a treasure! First off Wines on tap, good wines. Their wine selection is huge. Second, they have now introduced food. I got an amazing Italian Wedding Soup, a great meat platter and a few other items ALL of them were excellent. PLUS their Happy Hour goes to 7PM! The owners are often there and very nice, the environment it cozy and cute. I dig it.

I use to love this place. The cook/bartender, Christian, knew his stuff. He always told me the perfect beer for my moods – whether from the tap or their extensive bottled selection. I went in last week and found out he’d been let go. I don’t know why – because the customers always seemed to enjoy his banter as well as his food. I wonder if their business will suffer since he’s gone, because I know I won’t be going back.

After a fun afternoon of tasting and sampling at Urban Enoteca earlier this year, we decided to move the party over to The Cask in West Seattle. It happened to be a favorite of a couple members of our party that happened to be wine enthusiasts and West Seattlites. The owners presented some great recommendations on wines, but don’t ask me to remember what they were, since it was at the end of a long day of «tasting.» Place is dimly lit, quiet, nicely furnished, and a nice neighborhood spot.

Just not the same since Sean and Dee left. It’s not supposed to be right? New owners should put their own flavor on things. I like the idea of having food, but have not been wow-ed by the food. And just the overall attentiveness of staff isn’t what it used to be. Glad it’s still here, but not my faviorite place to come anymore.

Great little wine and beer place. Nice selection of both. Wine on tap! Beer from all over the world. AND they’ve expanded their food menu. We love coming in and sitting for awhile, relaxing, laughing, enjoying the art and the occasional live music. All the folks working in the place are very friendly as well. LOVE the art that’s currently up, btw. Great stuff.

Best bar in West Seattle!!! I cannot say enough good things about this place! This is the kind of local neighborhood bar that exemplifies what it means to be a West Seattleite! The cask is a Classy, laid back and friendly establishment that always promises a night well spent! Whether just dropping by for a quick beer, on a date, or hanging with friends, the cask delivers on all accounts. Fantastic rotating beer and wine selection complimented by great music and snacks! Thanks to the owners shon and dee, West Seattle’s admiral district finally has a bar worthy of staying local! Every time I stop in, I somehow end up staying till close. Tasty beverages, awesome service, and quality conversation has made the cask my regular beverage destination! If u have not been to the cask, I could not recommend a better West Seattle bar to spend an evening. Cheers!!!

My first time in here… hands down, the coolest place I’ve been in West Seattle. The name, «The Cask» threw me… I figured it was just a wine place, which it most assuredly is, but the beer selection is phenomenal! Dozens of bottled domestics and imports, and even a few taps, which is rare for a wine bar. The atmosphere is hip, dark, and very cool. The hardwood bar reflects the red lights overhead. The music tonight is a chill mix of old blues, with a little Dead. This place is perfect for a classy, yet unpretentious drink after dinner on a date… or after anything else, for that matter. I am an instant fan!
