Won’t let people with certain IDs in. Friends from Guam and a friend from Vermont could not get in. Don’t visit with people from out of state. Poor customer service to say the least.

This place has an amazing craft beer selection, delicious food, and one of the greatest, and nicest staffs I have ever been around.

Great beer selection and pizzas. They often have interesting and fun brewery events. Really it’s the best beer place in Seattle, they know their beer. I love their patio. But one star off for the inconsistency in the music they play. They try to please everyone musically and I fear they end up pleasing no one. I think most beer people prefer rock music, like me, and not pop/dance(I know, a gross generalization but it suits more the ambience of the place too, I think).

This place is awesome! Once upon arrival, you are then greeted and seated down either tables, booths, or just want to drink at the bar. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Enjoyed being here, drinks are relatively cheap here compared to other bars, ranges from $ 5 to $ 11 for drinks. And prices are higher if you want top notch stuff. I recommend if you like stouts, the coconut stout. It was not heavy or sweet, it was perfect. It is located in capital hill in westlake downtown. Transportation, use Über or Taxi to get here to this location because parking is sometimes hard to find. It’s about a $ 7 ride from westlake downtown. You guys have fun, I am definitely coming back again.

This place is so much fun just because of the atmosphere. The servers have awesome personalities. The music was 80s hits, that just kept night going. The pizza was great! The mac & cheese though, tasted a horrific. My friend said that it normally doesn’t taste like that so maybe we just got a bad batch but everything else is good.

In town for the hawks game, wanted some artisan style pizza and some good drinks. The Pine Box delivered on both flawlessly. Everything we ate was delicious and the drinks were top notch, great local craft beer selection and full bar. We will be back for sure

No line, no cover, on New Years ?! I’m a fan! My friend lives in Cap Hill and has been here before. Said it was a cool place with a lot of good beers on tap. We decided to take the long walk to Pine Box for some NYE entertainment! With our group of 10+ in tow, we ventured down. So surprised to not come to a huge line and a horrendous cover! Super cool chick at the door checking ID’s. She remembered my friend. We went inside and stood in a small line for beers. Prices also, surprisingly low. Could not believe that we were at a bar downtown on NYE with no cover, and decent price brews! I’m a fan! This place use to be an old mortuary back in the day. The architecture of this place is amazing! Beautiful windows and booth seating made out of pews. Gorgeous place and so hip and cool for our age group! Not a bunch of kids. Ha, they were all probably partying in pioneer square! Bonus! Love this place! Will definitely come back!

Great overall atmosphere, good beer selection, terrible service. I was waiting at the bar, card in hand, to place an order. The bartender made eye contact with me multiple times yet never made any effort to serve me. Instead she was chatting with someone and even when there was a break in the conversation she would start it back up again instead of doing her job and taking my money. No matter, I was able to find another bar with friendly service that was happy to take my money. First and last trip to the Pine Box.

Sours on tap! Woohoo. Beer fans rejoice, the selection here is great and servers know their beer. 5⁄5 Food was good and unusual combinations. We had a wild boar and pineapple pizza. Boar was sliced very thin and perfect for the pizza. Salad with blue cheese/walnut/cranberry was perfectly dressed with very fresh greens. 4.5÷5 Ambiance/service was good, but not great. Our server was able to answer beer questions, but was pretty indifferent about serving. This place is LOUD, even on weeknights. It’s a large open space which is noisy anyway, add in someone constantly messing with the volume level of the music and switching to odd screechy tracks and it makes trying to enjoy a beer and a conversation impossible. 3⁄5.

Excellent Beer Selection Great Food Some of the servers are awesome and engaging, some of them take their sweet time acknowledging you. I don’t even bother on the weekends anymore. I only got to drink one beer over an hour period. And when you’re by yourself, and your glass is empty, there’s only so long you can pretend to stare at the Electronic board before you feel like a loser. I would have spent three times as much money if someone paid attention. 3 times as much tips for them too! If you’re friends with the staff or a die hard regular, this place is probably a 5. In their defense, the inescapable gentrification of Cap Hill has affected the overall attitude and experience one might have here compared to three years ago. That crimson haired tomboyish metal gal in that sleeveless black denim getup tho. My-lanta.

Calling all beer nuts!!! What an amazing selection of beer and a selection of food and the only place that I have found to have an authentic Sheppard’s pie with lamb. Seattle has so many great places to eat and drink at, that is what I love about this city. You really have to work hard to find somewhere that does not impress. However, they are a few places that stand out and the Pine Box is definitely one of them. First of all the beer selection is amazing. Usually everyone has a good selection of local beers, but they also have some fantastic German beer like Maisel’s. Who has that on tap in Seattle? Well these guys do. Next the food was amazing as well as the selection of different items. Also they have a full bar to top it all off with and the staff knows their stuff. So if that was not enough for you they also held Bruce Lee’s funeral service here as well; the place used to be a church you will notice it upon entering. So you know the place has got to be pretty cool.

Everyone always ends up at Pine Box. Spacious and well-suited to larger groups, Pine Box always boasts an impressive array of beer from around the world. Yes, the list is PNW-dominant, but I’ve had European beers here on multiple occasions. If you’re breaking your head over what to drink, don’t hesitate to ask a staff member for a recommendation. If beer isn’t your scene, don’t fear: they also have a fully stocked bar. There are tables upstairs, tables downstairs, and tables outside. It also feels like Pine Box is always packed, be at 6PM or 1AM. The atmosphere is always loud and lively. However, sometimes it’s a stretch to hear each other over the echoes of loud music combined with the rest of the bar’s conversations, and that’s a real pet peeve of mine when it comes to bars. I’ve only ever tried the hummus and pita from the food menu, and it was pretty good. However, the main appeal of Pine Box for me is by far the beer(did I mention that the tap list rotates fairly often?), and that’s what keeps me coming back.

I can’t vouch for the food just yet but this is a pretty cool joint to come grab a drink and hang out or watch some sports. They have a neat bar/restaurant area when you first walk in and a large semi-outdoor patio area that has a large projector screen and picnic tables. Overall service was a touch slow when it gets a little busy but the beer list is good and looks like they have some serious eats!

Great happy hour, plethora of libations, filling snacks… and a kickass server to boot! Oh, not to mention that The Pine Box is mortuary-turned-bar … so, there’s some history that’s etched within their walls for entertainment value. Not that death is fun!

Great spot to finish up our evening out. Nice drink selection and the food we ordered was tasty and delicious: a soft pretzel with spicy mustard and a pizza with root vegetables and balsamic reduction. Will definitely be returning.

My third trip to the Pine Box, reportedly named as the Best Bar in Washington state by at least one poll. It’s easy to see why! They have an AMAZING tap list, knowledgeable beertenders providing friendly service, and a funky ex-mausoleum ambiance, which combine to keep me coming back whenever I am in this area. If you haven’t been to The Pine Box, and you love beer, you’re missing out!

If you want some well crafted food and a great selection of drinks, this is your place to go! They sport a good happy hour every day of the week with options like a goat cheese dip with pita bread and BBQ sliders(both were fantastic and filling). I didn’t order any other food items, but the pizzas and burgers that came out of the kitchen also looked delicious! If bar drinks aren’t for you, their beer menu is also vast and is sure to please a variety of individuals. Service can be slow when the place gets busy, so don’t come here if you are in a rush or need someone to wait on your every need.

Hadn’t been in here in a few years since it was the Chapel, and it’s amazing how it’s changed… Jury’s out — beer list is pretty good for Capitol Hill pubs, but the prices are a bit above normal even for Seattle. The staff is seemed pretty cold and pushy and the clientele is mostly comprised of 20-something’s trying too hard to be hipsters, but coming off as more douchey. Maybe this is a good spot midweek, but for the weekends it just feels too much like south lake union.

I love this place. Probably my favorite beer bar in Seattle. I just wish parking is a bit easier and cheaper. They always have something I want to try on tap and I am a bit of a snob when it comes to beer. I used to work about a mile from this place and came here more often. Now Collins Pub is near me which is cool too but it’s just not… The Pine Box. This place used to be a funeral home and you could definitely tell that once you come in. It feels like you are at a church drinking beer. Their anniversary beers(all 3 of them + variants) are all delicious. As mentioned, they always have something interesting on tap — local and/or rare beer. In terms of food, I have tried their Warm Big Ass Chocolate Chunk Cookie and popcorn. Popcorn was delicious but the cookie was just okay. It was big though and it was only 4 bucks during HH. I hear great things about their real lunch/dinner menu, but I haven’t any yet tried! Shame on me. I will revisit and try soon. There are lots of other cool places near by. It’s in the heart of Capitol Hill. I usually come when they open at 3pm, grab a few beers, and walk around the area to sober up before driving back home. Major credit cards are accepted!
