Only had time for Happy Hour but loved it. Great margaritas and great selection of appetizers. Good décor and service even though they were super-busy. Can’t wait to come back for lunch or dinner.

I dont know how they have so many good reviews. Maybe because where im from we have a ton of mexican restaurants im more familiar with tex-mex? But this was the most un flavorful mexican food ive had. The meat for the fajitas were very chewy and the rice was very hard. Im giving it a two star, one for service(he was very attentive) and the second for their corn appetizer(which was decent compared to everything else)

We stopped by The Barking Frog Grille on our way back from the Grand Canyon. I had the Char Grilled Reuben and it was very good. It was served with sweet potato fries. The fries were a little on the done side, but edible. We ate in the room with the fire place and it was nice and warm. The atmosphere was nice and the rest rooms were clean. My wife had a taco salad with chicken and my daughter had the taco salad with steak. They were both very good. The service was good.

I really, really try to avoid giving this rating, but in this instance, it’s unavoidable. I’m also quite sad about this one because our friends really like this place and just HAD to take us… And because our server really was nice. However, this was, by far, the longest wait I’ve experienced in a very long time, and the restaurant was barely sat. Towards the beginning of the meal, we had three different servers who didn’t seem to know what had already been ordered. And, we had to ask for nearly everything twice, be it napkins, menus, chips, ketchup, you name it. I don’t know what was going on exactly… As for the food, I’m not even full, I just chose to stop eating because it wasn’t good enough to waste the calories. While sitting in the restaurant, I hear my sister blurt out«I prefer Marie Calender’s.» The first thing my dad said when asked about his pot pie was«It was horrible!!! Very bland flavor, very little inside, and the chicken definitely wasn’t fresh.» About my sister’s meal, she said it was obvious the vegetables were frozen. And as for mine and mom’s meal, we ordered a vegetarian fajita that came out with only bell peppers and onions(though I did ask for no mushrooms). So, we waited to eat our food in order to get the broccolini that it was supposed to come with. But, on a good note, my sister Was given a side of guacamole on the house for Our wait. But here’s the kicker! We get the bill and just can’t figure out why the same item has two different prices, so we ask the server. He comes back and says«oh you’re right, I didn’t charge you enough for one of them! Thanks for pointing it out, I increased the amount.» Wait! Waaaaiiiittttt one second! You’re telling me YOU made a mistake on our bill and then INCREASE the bill to make up for your mistake??? Never. Never in my life, after working in 5 different restaurants for yearrrrsssss have I ever seen something like this! I’m still baffled.

Terrible experience, I honestly don’t know where to start. To preface, know the place was EMPTY. It was 2 pm on a Wednesday. We had a party of ten people. Now that you know that, it started off with three different guys coming over as if they were our servers asking what we wanted. We had to order the cactus fries three times before they actually put the order in. Then we got the pot pie with chicken, 2 vegan quesadillas, a mushroom sandwich, the 100 salad, street corn, and the vegan stuffed poblano. The cactus fries: they were probably the best thing of the day. Unique and the sauce was good. For the price there definitely wasn’t enough though. We had to get several orders for us all to have like 3 little fries. The pot pie: my dad LOVES pot pie and he hated it. I could feel his discontent the entire meal. The chips and salsa: pretty good, I like the roasted flavor. The chips Weren’t the best, but I like the concept of three kinds. The mushroom sandwich: best entrée, which is saying something because I didn’t even want a second bite of it. The sweet potatoes were ok, slightly cold from the beginning. The fajitas: bland at best, didn’t even come with everything they were supposed to come with. They took a while to bring the rest of it. The vegan stuffed poblano: IMOFFENDED that we paid so much for that crap. You know the mixed corn and pea frozen blend you get at the grocery store? YEAH. That’s what my meal was, just stuffed in a bland pepper with some sauce and rice to throw off the disgusting taste of something I could have done better at home. The margaritas were decent, at least there is that. The service was alright, for how little of people they had in the restaurant it wasn’t good. He did give me a good side of guac and didn’t charge because of how terrible everything was and how long the wait was… At least there was that. Every single thing took so long. Everything. And the server didn’t even pay attention to the bill and charged the fajitas two different prices for the same thing, then when I pointed it out he decided to go with the more expensive price. Even if they paid me to come back, I wouldn’t. I highly recommend skipping this terrible place.

Great décor, great service, even better food! We just went for a light lunch(had some later evening dinner plans) and although I was good and only ordered off the interesting appetizer menu(PERFECT veggie quesadillas!!), I/we found ourselves browsing though quite extensive dinner menu(and wishing this was where we’d be dining later!!!) We’ve got so much of the same old-same old TEX-MEX here in Ohioooo, and while it has its ups and downs, it’s really easy to get tired of it(or just about«local» cuisine you like, but might just have too often, with too little variety). Our intro to the Southwest’s take on Tex Mex was(obviously) more creative, closer to authentic, and quite a bit fresher than what we’re used to here. Come here for a «light» bite or a more substantial meal, enjoy the different cozy«nooks and crannies» or cozy up to the bar(we didn’t get to try their awesome sounding Margaritas…) and get just about whatever you might have«ganas» for… BUENPROVECHO!!!

We were in here today 9÷18÷2015. We had nacho with chicken sauce for appetizer shared by parties of four. It was the best Nicholas I had. Delicious. It was recommended by the server after I told him that I did like the spice of Cumin and paprika. So he recommend with chicken sauce instead of chili sauce. We had steak and shrimp fajitas and carne Assad. They both are delicious. The corn tortilla was very soft and fresh. The steak was just right. Shrimp was large and tender. Delicious I would recommend this. Back in NY, there is a barking frog in Beacon. Never tried it. I will try it when I return. We also have churro with ice cream for desert. It was fresh home made. The desert churro has dough filling. It is so rich. My husband and I shared but it is still too much. I think it is enough for 4 persons to share. The only thing is the ventilation is not too good. The table across from us had a few sizzling fajitas and the smoke was filling the room. If there is fire alarm, it should trigger it. It made me cough and eyes tearing. Other than this, the service is a little slow even it seems the manager keep trying to see if we were ok.

quite probably the worst MEXICAN food i’ve ever eaten. did not try GRANDMASHELLY’s GRILLEDSTREETCORN(chipotle butter, lime crema and cotija cheese) or the GREENLIPMUSSELS(poblanos, roasted corn, tomato & onions with beurre blanc) she also ordered, both of which looked good. if i had, maybe BARKINGFROGGRILLE would have earned a second star. yeah, i know i gave ‘em two but only because i was completely smitten with KARINA, our server. intriguing menu. thought about ordering the SLOWBRAISEDPORKSHANK(pork rillette with ANASAZI beans) or the 72-HOUR BEEFSHORTRIB(with white cheddar grits and achiote, rosemary wine sauce) but was still full from brunch. having since read a couple other reviews(ERIC W suggested the short ribs smelled like«feces» but the consensus seems to be the SHANK’s pretty good), maybe i dodged a bullet. three times a manager-type(shirt and tie) tried to drop-off somebody else’s order which he then picked up and took to another table across the room. was courteous and jolly but still you gotta wonder … nothing special about the PRICKLYPEARMARGARITA. frankly, it tasted like every other margarita mix margarita i’ve ever had. it was pretty much downhill from there. the CACTUSFRIES needed a good dose of VIAGRA. they were limp, undercooked and unpleasantly slimy(like okra gets sometimes). the dipping sauce was interesting though — strong tamarind flavor. the BARKINGFROGTRIO(guacamole, queso fundido and chipotle salsa) was barely touched. the guacamole was standard(how badly can you screw up guacamole, right?) and the chipotle salsa pretty good(would guess it was made with dried chipotles since it didn’t have that complex, smokey, slightly vinegary BBQ taste you get from the canned ones) but the gueso fundido was not even close. tasted like nacho cheese sauce right out of the can with chorizo bits sprinkled on top. the«house made» tortilla chips were a serious disappointment — like FRITO-LAY chips bad. my eleven-year old JULIANA’s CREAMYCORNSOUP(with queso fresco & cilantro poblano drizzle) was good — i had a couple bites — but then again i’m a sucker for DELMONTE creamed corn so maybe i’m a bad judge. liked the herb-chili drizzle, the gueso fresco sprinkle and the pepitas(pumpkin seeds) were a nice textural element to the otherwise blended soup. nine-year old WYATT’s chicken strips(off the kid’s menu) were nasty, freezer to fryer. pretty sure the fries were left over from lunch. my BEERBATTEREDFISHTACOS(pico de gallo and avocado crème) were also nasty. one taco had a tiny sliver of fish smaller than my pinkie finger(less than half the length of the tortilla). the other had something flat and square with the texture of shoe leather, so tough i couldn’t chew it. look at the photo to get a sense of their portion controls. and how do you make fish tough ?? the flavors were muddled and the beans on the side were awful. really disappointing. my wife’s CRISPYCARNITAS(citrus-braised pork shoulder, ANAZASI beans, salsa verde and cotija cheese) were not crispy — again, not even close. nothing in the way they were prepared could possibly have made them crispy. flavor was okay but more like a chile verde«stew» than carnitas. however, the SUNDAE(vanilla ice cream, candied pecans, chocolate chip cookie and hot fudge sauce) was a show stopper. tragically, it was too little, too late.

Come for Happy Hour and try the Horny Toad Margarita it is very good. Daily 3 — 6 with good prices on appetizers from $ 4 — 7. The cactus fries are different but very good. They come with Prickly Pear dipping sauce and are slightly warm but excellent. The Barking Frog, Amber Ale is their only Frog branded beer or ale. Believe it or not it is made in Anchorage, Alaska. I personally think it is very good. We will be back

Great neat place for Mexican food in sedona. There happy hour was awesome, loved the small plates that they offered. Our waitess Shannan was very nice and helpful with our ordering. For being out of town visitors, we were happily surprised with a very nice meal.

This place was great! I was skeptical because this town doesn’t have too much to offer for food. Everyone was very attentive that walked by asking if we needed anything and our server Aaron was very helpful and even recommended a diff. menu choice because of his personal opinion on the one we originally were going to pick. So glad we listened! The chips and salsa were so good and we got the chicken tortilla soup and the pollo fundido. So good! Atmosphere was nice as well!
