Nick’s Auto Body

Saw the previous reviews of this place and figured that since it was close to my house and I like to use local businesses — I decided to bring my car in for an estimate. My car received some damage to the paint after the LaGuardia parking garage decided to leak some toxic acid paint onto my roof and driver side window, while I was on a trip to Chicago.
I spoke to Mike at Nick’s on Monday who said that Monday’s were rough for him and tomorrow would be better. I didn’t have a problem coming back the next day. Prior to leaving he said that he was going to have to put it through their car wash and clean the car so they can really do a thorough exam to find all the damage. He pointed out a white scratch on the passenger door to which I answered that it had nothing to do with the damage sustained at the parking garage. His reply was «well, if you’re going to get it fixed, you may as well fix everything».
I show up the next morning at 8:30am to drop off the key knowing the car was going to be there the day so they can inspect it. Mike’s tune changed and I began to get the feeling that he didn’t want to do the work. He started mentioning things like how he’s dealt with the Port Authority before and he didn’t want to do all this work and then have the Port Authority say it was only worth a third of the estimate.
Then he mentioned that he was going to be spending a lot of time on figuring out exactly what was damaged and how door handles and molding pieces needed to be replaced. OK — fine with me.
Then he mentions how he has to pay for software.
Wait…what? Software? Why are you paying for software? Haven’t you dealt with this before?
Specifically, haven’t you dealt with this software to do an estimate?
I tell you what I think. I think you are only in it to screw whoever you can. I’m sorry I am an honest man and didn’t want non-​related issues fixed on my car. Once you found out it was a Port Authority claim and a company car to boot, you saw dollar signs and use excuses like «I don’t want to waste my time doing all this work on the estimate and then have them not do all the work».
How about my time? How about you knew the day before that you didn’t want to do it. Tell me then and not waste my time.

I highly recommend Nicks auto body shop. We were re-​ended in our truck. I was reluctant on where to go since we love our truck & keep excellent care of her. Mike did a GREAT job. Cara took care of all the paperwork. They are True Professionals. Our truck looked better than ever when we picked her up. I am Very Happy with the job & service we received. I can honestly say that I Highly recommend Nick’s, they really care about the details that’s why I’m giving them 5 stars.

OMG! Love this place! It is so hard trying to find a decent place to get your car fixed. I have used Nick’s twice so far and they are honest and really care. I have never seen such good work done on a car. You can’t tell that my cars were even in an accident. They took care of everything! They handled all of the insurance stuff. They set it up for the insurance guy to look at the cars at their shop both before and after and they got everything approved. If I ever need body work on a vehicle again this is the ONLY place I will ever go. Thanks Nicks!
