Chuys how you have fallen from grace. Came here fwith the family for my bday dinner. We got there around 730p on a Sunday and place was fairly busy. 30 min wait. No problem. We decide to pull a couple of tables together around the bar area and munch on some chipa. But guess what, they have no saucers for the salsa. Ok no biggie. We can ask someone. Trying to get a servers attention became a task. About 8 mins later finally flag one down who pulls some. Then we order some sodas for kids and waters for us. Another 7 mins order a beer takes another 10 our buzzer starts ringing by the time my brother got his drink. Btw one of the sodas never made it. Annoyed but hungry so decide to take our stuff to the table. Over 5 mins and server is not to be found. Finally he comes around and we get our order in and ask for creamy jalapeño and green chili. He comes back with wrong salsa. Ok let’s just correct. We sit around munching on chips for 25 mins when order comes out. Apparently one of the plates was made wrong so they let rest of the food sit over 10 mins at the warmer and it tastes like it. Super annoyed but I taste ground meat in boom boom enchiladas. Yep it has beef in it mixed with chicken. Now I’m upset and server says well sometimes it happens with no offer to remake or anything. I hand him the plate back and say it shouldn’t and I’m done eating. Manager comes out 5 mins later and says it was beef and she will take care of that plate. Chuys used to be one of my favorite tex mex places. Now I’m gonna have to find another option.

Food 4 stars * service 5 stars hungry for Tex mex, decided to try chuy’s by forum. started with Queso(6.50); it was very good, on the dark, spicy side. chips are light and crispy. table salsa is fresh with lots of lime. Hubbie ordered stacked enchiladas(10.00) with green chile sauce(subbed). nice size stack loaded with chicken, sauce was very spicy. I got combo plate with taco and enchilada(9.00). cheese enchilada came with thick, dark sauce. sauce was tasty, but either had been really baked on or was just really thick — a little too heavy for my taste. taco was good, hand made shell filled to overflowing with ground sirloin, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and a few fresh jalapeño bits. filling was tasty, but a little salty. I asked if I could sub something for rice & beans and was given option of squash/onion/pepper blend — probably same as filling for veggie enchiladas — or a dinner salad. Opted for salad. It was just«taco toppings» — lettuce & tomatoes. but chuy’s uses a mix of lettuces so it made for a nice salad. Went with waiter recommended creamy jalapeño dressing and really liked it. SAVE room for a tortilla or 2 — have it for dessert! NOREALLY — they are THAT good! pillowy soft, oh so tender an no need for butter or any further embellishment. just like your abuelita made! Service was top notch! UPDATE: tried lite combo #9 this visit — chicken fajita taco — EXCELLENT — good char flavor, moist and tender! torn over chicken chalupa — liked the big chunks of chicken — vs. shredded in sauce — but chicken was a little dry. hubbie liked stacked enchiladas last visit — but found sauce TOO hot! so ordered again with the tomitillo sauce — MUCH better! tart sauce went well with sweet blue corn tortillas. excellent attentive service AGAIN.

Creamy jalepeno was delicious as usual, the macho burrito was good but taking two hours from the time we were finally seated to getting the check was terrible.

Omg… there was a roach hanging out watching us eat on top of the booth. We put our daughters booster chair on top of it and told waiter. He just looked at us like we were crazy… Then about 10 minutes later asked if we wanted him to remove it… ummm duh! Luckily our big group had eaten before the gross roach… The manager came to tell us that they come from the woods behind and spiders do too(scaring a girl with us) We were offered her lame apology and not even a 10% comp for dealing with there dirty roaches… Needless to say none of our part of 8 will go back to this DIRTYLOCATION..

Crack sauce!!! Ok I mean their creamy jalapeño salsa but the waiters call it crack sauce because just one taste of it and you can’t stop! Food is always delicious too but most importantly, get the crack sauce. We always get a bowl of it for our chips too. It’s just too delicious!!!

They tell us they’ll be a small wait. We start to notice they’re sitting people that came after us, they had crossed our name off without calling it and our buzzer never buzzed. Whatever, we sit down. We get chips that were so thin I could literally see though them. The salsa was just ok. They refilled the chips but never the salsa. Weird. The margarita was just ok too. Really doubt there was any alcohol in there. I ordered fish tacos. The tortillas were good but everything else was gross. My plate wasn’t even hot. My rice and beans we’re cold and my fish tasted twice fried, old and greasy. The only reason I’m not giving a one star is because our server was attentive and the bad food, reception and slow food delivery wasn’t his fault.

How dare they call themselves a Mexican restaurant. Food is bland or over seasoned; no traditional plates.

We love Chuy’s! The kids love going there! The staff is super attentive in keeping our drinks and chips full. and always friendly. It’s a kids friendly environment. We love ordering the Fajitas and they have the best Chicken Tortilla Soup! They are always generous in bringing extra tortillas at no extra charge and the Creamy Jalapeño :)

Food is delicious and not too expensive for how much that they give you. Servers are also good at showing attention for their guests to make sure my meal is the best it can be. Menu consists of your usual tex-mex cuisine but some of them have a twist to it to make it a special Chuy’s meal. Chips and salsa are included for free so it can make appetizers sometimes pointless unless you’re in the mood for queso or quesadillas. Their happy hour has cheaper alcoholic drinks as well as having other kinds of dips for free such as beans or queso. You could pretty much have a meal with the chips and drinks. Anytime I’m in the mood for tex-mex, 9 times out of 10 I’ll end up coming back to Chuy’s!

I’m dumbfounded by how bad this location is. Growing up with Chuy’s in Austin I expected more. Every time I leave here I say«never again» and then get suckered back in. The food is awful. I had a chalupa this last time that was so chewy I couldn’t bite through it. The enchilada had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp as it has hard and the sauce had burned. It is consistently bad and I will not be back.

I’ve been to several chuys locations in different states. I’m always happy to return, the food is consistently great! Chuys hits a home run with their delicious in house made tortillas and sauces. I love the chile relleno with enchilada combo, the creamy jalapeño sauce has the right amount of heat, it’s really yummy! The service has always been great, consistently for every location. Hard to say that now a days, specially for a chain restaurant. If you are not much for dessert, chuys tres leches cake will change your mind! Best I ever had! Take this review to heart and try it! I’m picky about my restaurants, quality is important to me. What’s the point of eating out if you can make it better at home, right?!

Chuys is always a place I stop into while visiting here. Free chips n salsa(the green one is fabulous with spice) The food is definitely good and it’s cheap! For me and my family was about $ 35 for tons of food. We still had left overs yay! The atmosphere is very loud mostly bc of the bar, so be prepared. The only negative thing, is the servers and the girls in the front. I’m sorry but you guys are very rude and not polite. Even my disabled brother took offense bc ya’ll were so rude to me… and talking to each other about what your plans are in front of customers waiting to be seated.. very unprofessional and get off ur cell phones. … was the only disappointing thing. Our server was in and out all over the place, he didn’t look like he felt to good but still I spoke up to him and said«it’s ok to smile and tell us ur name» To the management, may want to check the service provided, food is good, would be much better with happy servers with a smile. :) We’ll be back of course and maybe a better updated review.. to be continued

This is my second visit to a Chuys and I was not dissapointed. We waited 30 minutes to be seated but we went around the dinner hour so it was very busy. I had the southwestern enchiladas, my mom had the stuffed avacado and my step daughter had the grilled chicken salad. All plates were portioned very well and we were very happy about that since we waited so long. The service was great and the food didn’t take long at all. My only tip is to come hungry!

Chuy’s in Selma is a place I take my friends and family from out of town. I love that they have a lighter menu, great Mexican Martina’s and a Chuy-changa that is to die for. I’m sad to say that I will not be returning due to theft problem. I left a pair of Ray-Ban aviators on my table, went to my car and remembered that I left them behind. I immediately returned to find my table bussed and glasses gone. I questioned my server who denied seeing them. I questioned to tables around me… Nothing. I left but then called the manager on the phone. They way she handled the situation is the reason I will not return to this establishment. She told me that«things go missing or get stolen all the time.» So I asked why I should bring my business to such a place where the staff steals? She clarified«no, no… It’s not our staff but the types of people that come to this place.» Oh… Like me? Try to value your customers, question the bussers, and do minimize my complaint! It was nice knowing you Chuy’s…

Chuy’s has been a favorite stop of mine since 1983 in Austin at the original location on Barton Springs… Although this location in SA has only been here a few years, It is the one closest to my home and every so often, I will get a craving… Happy Hour Free Taco Bar brings me back over and over with a discounted lime and strawberry swirl. Did you know there was a special way to make the perfect queso? … Start with a little bit of bean in a bowl, top with a good portion of ground beef, then smother it with the hot spiced melted cheese… Yep, that’s it! Grab another bowl and fill it with salsa. Grab a basket full of chips and you got a cheap dinner! It has been awhile since I actually have had a meal at Chuy’s. The last one I did have wasn’t all that great. No one at our table was really happy. So we decided that will just stick with an occasional HH Taco Bar. That makes me happy! What I also love about Chuy’s, the quirky weirdness of it(Keep Austin weird, right?!), the black felt paintings, and the love of all things Elvis… Want to celebrate Elvis’ birthday on Jan 08? Go to Chuy’s! One year at the original SA location on Broadway(which is no longer there), they hosted a party with the Rick Cavender Band, Oh so much Fun! Oh and want to celebrate Hatch Chilies in Aug/Sept? Go to Chuy’s for a their special menu and drinks! Yum! I also enjoy sitting on the front patio when it isn’t so crowded and the weather is nice. … and btw, I still miss the original San Antonio location in Alamo Heights close to home… I’m the one that occasionally writes them to tell them that… last time I did, I got a response from the Regional Manager who used to be my manager 30 years ago at a different restaurant… small world, right?!

Chuy’s is not bad. The walls are painted various shades of pink and are adorned with many old portraits of different people. The décor is busy and boasts fake palm trees, fish, and Christmas lighting. It is very festive inside. The noise level is pretty high. Either sit outside or go somewhere else if you’re looking for a romantic intimate meal. The food was decent. I ordered the Southwestern, my husband ordered the #1 combination plate, and my son had the fried chicken tenders and fries. My plate had layered homemade blue corn tortilla with shredded chicken and cheese. Over the top was a sauce and a sunny side up egg. It was served with your typical refried beans and Mexican rice. My husband’s plate had a crunchy taco, cheese enchiladas, and a chicken flauta. Our dishes were pretty mediocre. Nothing to write home about. My husband and I agree that if we come back we’ll stick to the crunchy tacos. The complimentary tortilla chips were thin, warm, and homemade. The chips are Chuy’s superstars! The salsa was delicious. I think I would have happily skipped my entrée and chowed on chips and salsa the whole time. My son’s meal was pretty bland. It didn’t taste like they added any seasoning to the flour at all. So the tenders were very blah. The fries were decent. We ordered two sopapillas and they tasted good. They came sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar with a side of honey. Now those were quite tasty. Service was adequate. Our server was courteous and attentive, but her body language seemed to scream, «I want to go home!» Or maybe it was saying, «You people are pigs eating three baskets of chips! Gluttons!» I can’t complain about it because she didn’t do anything wrong, she just didn’t seem to like us or maybe like her job. Body language, people! She may as well have been serving with the words OMGYOURANNOYINGBUT I HAVETOSMILEANYWAYS written on her forehead.

Wanted to finally try some Tex-Mex. The decór of this place reminds me of a Chili’s… it has a bunch of hodgepodge of things. This place is known for its chimichangas. We ordered the chips with salsa and the ranch jalapeño sauce, which was absolutely the bomb. The chips were the super-thin chips that I love, and the cool part is that when the wait staff sees the chips are dwindling, the come by with a scoop full of chips to refill the basket with. Score! I ordered the comida combo — which had cheese tex-mex enchiladas, chicken flautas, a seasoned ground sirloin crispy taco, guacamole & homemade tostada chips dipped in chile con queso. A great combo to be able to try different things. I liked the crispy taco and chicken flautas, but I felt the dish overall was too salty for my taste. Overall, good waitstaff, decent food, and a place that was packed.

Solid chain tex-mex restaurant. If you want a predictable meal, this will definitely scratch your itch. The décor is the same regardless of which Chuy’s you go to. They all have a BUNCH of bric-à-brac around. Were seated promptly in a decent booth. Hostess was nice and the waitress was spot on. Quite an interesting collage of tattoos across her body. A bit too fast/rushed, but she’s in a volume commission business at Chuy’s so I can’t hold a grudge. Started off with guacamole. It was above average and we enjoyed it. Also had the Sangria. It was super good. Warning: it is made with tequilla. That could be good or bad depending on your personal preferences. Never had Sangria with ice, so was a bit put off when ½ the drink was displaced by frozen water. I had the Chuy Enchillada. It was chicken with blue corn tortillas. Very good but with a TON of tomatiiio /verde sauce. If you like it, you’ll love it. If you don’t like it or love it, not so much. Rice was average. My wife got the refried beans which was a ton better than mine. I forgot the name, but it came in a bowl and was like a bean soup there was so much broth in it. If you want something solidly ok, here’s your spot. Easy fun, but nothing very special.
