Had an absolutely wonderful meal last night. This is about our fourth time dining at Alder Wood Bistro. The food and service are excellent. At each visit we have ordered something different and were always delighted with our food choices. We had an oyster appetizer yesterday and they were the freshest oysters we have ever had. Clearly the chef(s) know a lot about the art of food preparation and serving. We tried the lemon pie for dessert, outstanding. Thank you for such a wonderful experience, Mike and Valerie Johnson

Visited ONP a year ago and came here on account of the solid reviews. I was not disappointed! Everything my gf and I ate was delicious and amazing… we still talk about the salmon and scallops to this day. Service was also excellent. We told one of the waitresses(Tanya, I think?) what we were doing and she kindly gave us a bunch of locals’ suggestions. Wish I lived closer so I could come back all the time but I’ll be back someday!

Food was good but there are many other places with a better value for your money. I don’t think I’ve ever payed $ 35 for a 3oz salmon in my life… Left hungry and broke.

The owner was very attentive. However the server(there was only one) was terrible! Regardless of food quality, be prepared for selective service. We watched as some tables received excellent, prompt service. Others(especially with kids) were patently ignored. If you believe dining should be an experience, I can’t recommend. My fourteen year old summed it up nicely; «if she doesn’t like her job, she should get anew one.»

The truffle fries and carrot cake were so good! Also ordered the meatloaf and risotto, both were very appetizing and made with fresh ingredients. Will be stopping here more often! Very friendly staff

Great food and dining experience, I had the steak which is perfectly done and my family members had pizza which they loved. This is a busy place so be sure to call ahead for reservations. Waitstaff was very professional and friendly. Will return.

This place has good food but you will pay the price if you eat here. They deserve to be on one of those failed restaurant shows where some red faced host yells at them relentlessly for their failings. Last night my husband called and got a reservation for our anniversary. We arrive and they’re closed. Closed for the month of January for vacation and cleaning. The f’ing cleaning crew took the reservation and ruined our night. That’s not the only time they’ve failed us. Go ahead and try making a reservation here. i dare you.(Made that mistake for my 27th birthday.) Waited an hour and a half in the cramped bar for them to honor that reservation(on two occasions). THEN by the time you’re seated it’s 8:45pm. And when you go to pay the bill it’s 11pm. I dare you to pay in cash.(They didn’t bring us any change. And we were due at least $ 50) Instead you will sit in the empty restaurant save for the wait staff at a table counting their tips oblivious to the fact that you are glaring at them and the birthday girl had fallen asleep literally at the table. It gets to the point where you get up and leave and a year down the road make another failed attempt to have a good experience here.

Being a burger joint kinda guy I was skeptical about this place. I was wrong. I had the chicken and apple panini and arugula salad. It was a mix of tastes that I had never tried before. The only reason I dropped a star for the bones in the chicken. Almost caught me by surprise.

The food here is amazing. I got take out, being out of town folk and not knowing what to expect. and I couldn’t not believe it! The quality and flavor of food here is like food you would find in a 5 star restaurant in Portland or Seattle — but we’re in Sequim! Lol! So delicious and such a great presentation, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an amazing surprise and place to eat. Must say it’s a tad spending tho. I got a meal for myself, duck and a brownie — and it was over $ 40.

Every time I visit Sequim we have to plan a trip out to Alderwood bistro. Menu– inventive and healthy and fascinating Food — fresh and local and creative Service — simply on a par above everywhere else I had the pork with salsa verde, Alderwood greens, plums and mashed potatoes. My aunt had the planked fish(salmon) which came with roasted veggies. Their wine recommendations are always spot on. These people know good food. Really good food.

Excellent dining experience and the food was fantastic. I had the mussels that were perfectly prepared with a wonderful broth. I ended up consuming the remaining broth after I finished eating the mussels. I also had the special«Tierra Y Mar», perfectly cooked salmon with a house made mustard sauce. The lamb sausage was well seasoned, with mashed potatoes. To finish the meal with a moist, carrot cake with a maple cream cheese frosting. A well balance of sweetness from the frosting and the carrot flavor from the fresh carrots. I also had an hibiscus drink that balance in between the courses. Definitely coming back again to experience a great meal after a walk on the Dungeness Spit.

So happy we stopped here. Sat in the garden in the sunshine. Super friendly service, great atmosphere, reasonable prices, and the food was absolutely delicious. Loved that my side salad included fresh dill and cilantro. Can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I went to Sequim to pick berries and by the time we were done we were famished… where to eat?! We Unilocaled a few places and walked up and down the main street not really liking what we saw. Then Alder Wood Bistro caught my eye… hmmm, rabbit, duck and quail eggs. Unique food, lets go! It’s not cheap but oh so worth the price. Will definitely be returning!

Amazing!!! Best mussels I’ve possibly ever had. Great food — fresh fish, crostini and great local produce. Super service — a real find. Recommended.

Food was soooooooo good. I got the grilled veggie sandwich and it was so delicious I forgot to take a picture! We were a party of 7 and the wait was pretty long so make sure you call ahead if you have a big party. The people working here were very nice, they gave us water and drinks while we waited outside. Special call out for the table behind us from Seattle with the cute kid who gave us a chocolate cake. The cake comes highly recommended, even if you have to pay for it yourself

Five stars all the way for a wonderful dinner outside in the little back area amid flowers and trees and even some very friendly live music from a guitar-vocal duet. Service was friendly and gracious from the moment we walked in. The menu is loaded with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, and that’s a huge plus because this area is so full of small farms and close to the ocean. My girlfriend and I split a summer salad with greens, raspberries, truffle oil, burrata cheese, edible flowers and some kind of fried shoestring onions, along with some outstanding fresh bread with a white bean spread. For our entrees, she got a wood fired pizza with a super thin crust, tomato sauce, some excellent white cheese, baby herbs, truffle oil, more edible flowers, and a few fresh quail eggs on top. It was delicious and beautiful. I got the fish of the day, which was black cod cooked on a plank. Black cod is an easy fish to mess up because it’s so rich, but this was exemplary – cooked perfectly on the plank with not too much frills, and served with a raspberry salsa and some roasted potatoes and carrots(from Nash’s!) and other vegetables. And edible flowers(!). Again, delicious and beautiful, lots of great complementary flavors. We split crème brûlée and a berry sorbet for dessert. Both were excellent. And again, the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, and we just laughed and enjoyed ourselves the whole time. Rave, rave, rave!

A rather unprepossessing converted house tucked away from the main business drag of Sequim. Everything about it is appealing right from the moment you park, but you might not be prepared for just how focused they are here. There’s a lot of talk about how they might be the best restaurant on the peninsula. They do have some competition for that honor(the peninsula is huge, and there are a TON of interesting culinary things happening on both land and sea out here), but if you want to pick the best, you have to try this place at least once. That list can’t happen without checking in here. The house now has enough intense landscaping to leave room outside only for paths straight to the door. They’re across the street from a bank parking lot, but the cheerful exterior starts separating you from the outside world right away. The little lobby spills over with people probably all the time, but the staff do everything they can to settle you in as quickly as possible. They have to store their wine cellar somewhere, and part of that somewhere includes the lobby, so you can check out labels while you wait for a table, and start getting an idea of what might be good with your meal. There’s a small bar area with a few draft beers and some nice after-dinner drinks(port, scotch) and a few other carefully-chosen items. They do a good job of making it feel like you’re not in a house, with a few tables and a lot of booths around the edges of the main dining room. You walk down a short hallway to reach the restrooms, and you see some cool posters about food along the way. The bathrooms are clean, tidy, and attractively decorated. On your way to and fro, you get a nice sense of the hustle and bustle in the kitchen. And the kitchen really is the star here. As much as the fetching damsels on the floor will charm you with tableside banter(and make you wonder whether you’ve ever seen them at a Phish show or something), this place is all about the food. We had a burger and a fried oyster sandwich. The menu kinda irritated me with the $ 14.50 banh mi(of all the things to overcharge for…), the scrupulous attention to detail in the sandwiches we did choose will make me trust anything these guys want to serve me. The burger was perfectly seasoned; it was a fresh handmade patty but didn’t overpower the sandwich with ground beef flavor. Above the seasonings in the patty, there was also some salty dry white cheese melting, and a nicely understated tangy sauce. Minimal vegetables, and a fairly thin ciabatta bun. The texture, doneness, seasoning, and ratios of ingredients were consistently excellent throughout. I had a cup of the bacon and white bean soup alongside, which was fantastically smooth and deeply flavorful. The fried oyster sandwich showed oysters easily big enough to be the biggest flavor on the plate, but everything about the ingredients and ratios in this sandwich were just as balanced as the burger. Thin breading, tasty tangy slaw(you can add it to the sandwich yourself) and thin but intensely flavorful bread. The truffle fries had just enough truffle salt and nice counterpoint from fresh herbs and coarsely grated cheese. The desserts here looked amazing, and the dessert list did not disappoint. We had the apple pie a la mode. Everything about the dessert earned it a place at the same table with the lunch dishes. They clearly make the crust in house, and it was toasty and flaky but stood up perfectly to the filling. I don’t think they iced the cream, but I would not be surprised at all to learn I’m wrong about that. It had visible flecks of vanilla bean, along with icy chunks in it(not industrially processed, to say the least!), a little flower on top, and a fern frond under it. First pie I’d had with flowers and fronds, but it doesn’t have to be the last. The apples were still crisp, and some of the slices were too big to eat whole. The cinnamon was fresh enough to throw a little peppery spark off the back of your tongue – it’s a spice, after all, not just a seasoning. It’s hard to imagine a better couple of plates within 50 miles of this place, and I will drive back(~105-minute trip from my place) anytime just to eat here. I love it.

We were told to make reservations and we did. They get busy on the weekends. When you drive up it does not look like much from the outside. The restaurant is an old converted house. The evening was pleasant so we asked to be seated outside in the back patio. We were the only ones outside Our dinner was amazing. We ordered the steak of the day and the meatloaf both were fantastic. For dessert we had the oven heated apple pie. It was a must-have! I highly recommend this restaurant on your stop over in Sequim or if you live here take some friends. Service was top-notch.
