This is a great place for a very relaxing lunch on a Sunday afternoon in the fall. The views are spectacular. The restaurant seating is country-elegant cozy with some very comfy booth seats with pillows. The menu is good and the food spectacular recommend it highly.

What a cozy dining room, so evocative of an English lord’s country lodge. The booths are quite comfy and fitted with a small bolster if you need a bit of extra back support. I happened to have lunch there today. The menu is nicely thought out, featuring several quasi-Scottish club regulars like fish & chips, potato-leek soup, smoked salmon salad — you get the idea. The bread basket featured 2 house made choices: salty-herby crackers and soda bread baked like a tea bread. Would’ve provided another star if not for the following: salt crust on the slightly off-tasting salmon(way too much salt), the signature soup arrived tepid and service was a bit off. Ok, it’s Monday, the chef is probably off and the kitchen likely got slammed all weekend. They’re short a few people, they’re tired and they just need a break. I’ll probably be back because I’m an optimist when it comes to a mostly from-scratch kitchen like this one. But, cheesh, somebody hide the salt!

Love this place. Spinach salad with chicken. Shrimp salad with pineapple and orange. Excellent Zinfandel wine. Overlooking a world class golf course and Lake Michigan.

If you have any appreciation for golf, you need to visit this place just to see the course. We didn’t get to play it, but I’m not good enough for, something this challenging. We decided to have a quick lunch in the upstairs pub area. Ate at the bar. Enjoyed good selection of draft beers. I he’d the sliders, and homemade potato chips. My wife had the spicy wings, and homemade chips also. Food was unremarkable. The sliders were good. Our chips, were more on the burnt side. We questioned the server about them, and she told us that’s the way they serve them. I didn’t argue, but the reason we ordered them is because we some them at another table, and they looked great.(Not burnt like ours.) My wife wasn’t impressed with the wings, and didn’t finish them. The atmosphere of the place is great. Scenery is beautiful. It was worth the stop, but is suggest trying the restaurant instead.

Folks in the Milwaukee area… just drive! Seriously, this has to be one of the best dining experiences in our state! The food is outstanding, service perfect, the restaurant setting is beautiful… it simply doesn’t get any better than this! I love Whistling Straits!

Spending the weekend at the American Club. Four of us for dinner on a Saturday evening. An excellent restaurant experience. The dining room is elegant country, warm and cozy. Our server was outstanding: professional, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. And all the food was very good. We had Wisconsin draft beers for our cocktails. We started with their award winning escargot with mushrooms and shrimp cocktail appetizers. We then each had either the potato leek soup or the bibb lettuce wedge salad. The potato leek soup was among the best soups I have ever had. Our entrees included the filet with horseradish mashed potatoes, salmon with rice, shrimp with pasta and scallops with risotto. The chocolate brownies was our choice for dessert. If I ever go back to the American Club I will go again or if I know of anyone going I will definitely recommend this fine restaurant.
