I love their Full Service FRESH Juice and smoothie Bar. You choose all the vegetables and fruits and they juice it for you. If you like the juice bar at Whole Foods, you should try this place. It’s similar — but more affordable. It’s only $ 4.99 for 16oz.

My Secret Lunch Dojo! Not so secret… word has certainly gotten out since I’ve been here last during my Valley Village residency circa 2007. It is very busy around lunch time in this tiny parking lot shared with Chase and Trader Joes so park somewhere else, walk, and avoid being yelled at for checking in on Unilocal while holding up traffic(yes, that was me, keep honking as I hide in my excessively dark tinted whip). They have all kinds of goodies in this little store. Local produce, someone cranking out tons of sushi in the back, Korean meals to grab and go(chap chae, bulgogi, bento boxes, etc.) and also! Pesto pasta, egg salad, wraps, turkey sandwiches, tomato soup, fruit trays, a froyo machine, banana lumpia(dafuq? Bought that too!) and so much more. Is the sushi to die for? No, but it’s also not even close to being awful like Trader Joes sushi or the grocery store equivalent(actually, Ralph’s sushi is not bad either). On the produce tip, tons of fruits and veggies, fresh cut flowers, sauces, nuts, candies(the bulk kind, packed into plastic containers), honey, juices and a freezer full of ready to make Korean BBQ. I mean, cmon dudes. Awesometopia.

Really love coming to Farm Boy. Sometimes you can score great prices on produce, today I got 12oz of raspberries for 2.49 and they are delicious! This is a great place to get sushi as well, the sashimi is a bit overpriced i feel, but some of the rolls are great prices and the quality of the fish is fantastic. They also have delicious sandwiches, I love the turkey cranberry one! I often buy their precut watermelon, most of the time it is perfect but there have been a couple times where the flavor was a bit off. My mother loves their pesto pasta with grilled veggies and the vegetable curry balls. They also have 2 large spring rolls with shrimp and peanut sauce for $ 4! One thing most don’t know is if there is a certain sushi you want that they dont have out, you can ask and they will make it fresh for you! The only thing I hate about this place is the parking situation, but that isnt their fault. Trader Joes patrons take up all the parking, i wish they could reserve a few spots in fron of the store just for Farm Boy shoppers.

Such a great gem to stumble upon. The fresh sushi is so good and the flowers are beautiful. The selection of Asian sauces and spices are what brought me to Farm Boy. The prices here are great as well. I’ll be back again for the spicy tuna roll :)

Get fresh produce, sushi, soup, or frozen yogurt here. Not kidding. I don’t like Trader Joes’ produce, so I walk across the parking lot to get it here. It’s much more cost-effective(for some items) and better quality anyhow. Farm Boy is a very casual, independently owned market with fresh produce and a variety of Asian themed cooking oils, spices, and sauces. You can also get their pre made rolled sushi, soup of the day, or frozen yogurt — and all of that is quite delicious and good. It’s clean but it’s a bit outdated, and there are boxes and carts of things absolutely everywhere. I’m not there for a Whole Foods experience though, I’m there to get shopping done so I can go home and drink wine in my sweats. Customer service isn’t anything special in my opinion, and parking for the shared lot can be a pain, but when I need leeks and I don’t have time to shop at a million grocers, this does the job just fine. The prices are not necessarily competitive but for me it’s usually worth convenience. Plus, I would rather give money to a mom and pop shop than a Ralph’s. Wait… they are a florist location, too?

I am not sure what I was expecting when I walked into Farm Boy on a rainy Saturday morning. Perhaps I was expecting insanely low prices, an abundance of fresh foods and friendly customer service… Sadly I didn’t get any of that. Farm Boy isn’t Trader Joes and it isn’t your typical market. It’s a homey niche store that has fresh smoothies, «fresh» sushi and an array of other precooked foods. They did have small sections of veggies and meats that were equally priced to Trader Joes but with a smaller selection(perhaps it’s a lot of things out of season). I did happen upon the sushi section which most options were sort of pricey but sizable. When I inquired about half rolls that lady«shooed» me away… don’t know what that was about. I settled upon a Brown Rice California Roll. For $ 6.99(comes with 8 pieces) it was one of the cheaper options and exactly pretty tasty! Would highly suggest the sushi. I also decided on the chicken teriyaki bowl. This was well priced at $ 3.99 for a bowl. The contents did lack flavor but it was cheap and filling. Would skip out on the bowl esp cause it was lacking teriyaki. I would appreciate if there were Expiration dates on the cartons but I am assuming all the food here is made fresh daily and nothing is recycled for the next day. Nothing displayed the day these items were made and seeing that it wasn’t much foot-action I can only assume the worst. But hey you never know right and I didn’t get sick so it must have still been good. Eat same day to avoid confusion. Overall cute little place. I think I will return in the spring to get a better price/selection.
