Kniesel’s Collision Center-Shingle Springs

I have the day off today for New Years. Since I’m not in the office helping other people, I thought that I’d take a minute and do something for myself for a change (new year’s resolution) and schedule an appointment for a weekend time to get an estimate for my insurance company. Deer vs. small truck didn’t end well for either of us last week end. Terry called me back within a hour of sending the email. ON NEW YEAR’S DAY? ARE YOU KIDDING?
So, I start to tell him what happened and ask when they are going to be open during the holiday and my wife asks me while I’m talking to Terry if he could come out today to the house and take a look? I didn’t even want to ask, but I did. Believe it or not, Terry was in the office doing some last year end things and said that he could stop by. REALLY? A HOUSE CALL ON NEW YEARS DAY?
Met with Terry in the driveway to go over our «issues.» Terry was awesome. He took pics and the information that he needs to contact my insurance company and within a ½ hour or so he was off.
During the conversation I asked if I could drop off my truck on Saturday. They are closed for the holiday but he will be in the shop doing other things… and yes, he will receive my truck… again working on a holiday for ME!
CUSTOMER SERVICE TO THE MAX!
Only bad thing… apparently my insurance carrier requires the use of non-​Toyota parts. If the parts don’t fit well or they are of poor quality, they can then be substituted for Toyota parts. Unfortunately, that means that Kniesel’s had to paint and install a front fender flare only to find out that it didn’t fit well. Also, they had to install a new headlight only find out that it didn’t match the other side.
Their commitment to the quality of my repair included doing some to the job twice.

Update to my original review. Was able to get a call from Terry the manager at Kniesel’s who not only did a great job in communicating but also addressing the issues that were unresolved from my previous experience. Car now drives like it had never been in an accident and looks the same. I greatly appreciate the service that was provided and the repairs that were completed on my car. This is the definition of a business «making it right». Only stopped short of giving 5 stars due to previous issues with communication but this definitely helped to boost my rating. Thank you Kniesel’s!

Biggest issue: They did not make all the repairs my insurance company was charged for and made bad repairs. I had to take my car into a different body shop. When I took it to another body shop to have the bad repairs fixed, they found items that were listed on my invoice that were never repaired. Geico came out and confirmed this.
They made bad repairs: The hub assembly was broken and they only replaced the spindle and put the old bearing back in it. The car’s front left end (the portion that Kniesel’s was supposed to repair) made wobbling noise when I drove it. When I took it to the dealer they told me that my car was dangerous to drive. My husband and I pointed out to Kniesel’s that the bumper was crooked and sagging and Kniesel’s said it was normal. When I took the car to the dealer Acura told me it was NOT normal and to take it to a bodyshop to be repaired. There was a pimple in the paint on the new fender they painted.
Kniesel’s informed me that their regular on site mechanic was out on medical leave and that they would be taking my car to a sub contracted mechanic. I had no issue with this. My issue arose when Kniesel’s body shop crew diagnosed the mechanical issues incorrectly and ordered the mechanical suspension parts and instructed the subcontracted repair shop what to fix mechanically.
I asked GoodYear if they were the ones to make the mechanical diagnoses and they informed me that they were instructed by Kniesel’s and given the parts by Kniesel’s.
They (Terry the manager) told me that their subcontracted mechanic shop «GoodYear» did not finish working on my car until 12 noon on Monday, however, I was at GoodYear on Saturday at 5 pm and inspected my car and GoodYear had finished it. Terry flat out lied to me because on 3 prior occasions they had promised me that my car would be ready by a certain date and it was not. Terry was trying to blame it on GoodYear.
Kniesel’s told me it would take 10 days or less to repair my car. It took 23 days. My car was parked under trees which leaked sap all over my car and it was not returned to me in the same clean condition as I left it. Bob at Kniesel’s, the guy handling my car, told me that Kniesel’s standardly buffed the old headlight to match the new headlight with a 3 step treatment. On the 2^nd occasion that I was told by Bob that my car would be ready I confirmed with him that the headlight would be buffed and that my car would be washed of all the sap including the flower petals under the hood of the car. Bob assured me that my car would be sparkling clean and said that he was driving it to «Suds» in El Dorado Hills to be detailed. I asked that Bob keep the car in the garage until I came as I did not want it to get covered in sap by the time I got there. Bob had previously made a comment to me that within a half hour his personal vehicle gets covered in the sap when it is parked in their lot. Bob assured me that it was Kniesel’s standard practice to leave it in the shop until the customer came. When I went to pick up my car the next day, my car was parked in the parking lot. There was dripping water under my car with a trail coming from the shop. This showed me that the car had just been washed in the shop and not at «SUDS» in El Dorado Hills. My car already had sap spots on it. The headlight had not been buffed and looked terrible in comparison to the new headlight.
I recently replaced my incabin air filter and found the old one covered in the flower petals from the trees of Kniesel’s parking lot. My car has always been garaged.
I received several emails stating an estimated completion of repair for the next day and 3 phone calls telling me my car would be ready the next day and when I went to get my car each day after the each phone call, it was not ready. After the last phone call telling me my car would not be ready for another 2 days, I immediately got an email saying «Your Acura is all fixed and ready to go home!»
When my car was finally returned to me (and «finished» according to Kneisel’s) my sunroof cover was broken. My sunroof had never had any prior issues and was not broken when I left it in the care and custody of Kniesel’s. Kniesel’s told me that there was nothing they would do about it and that I had to contact Geico. Geico had the sunroof fixed by the Acura dealer because Kniesel’s is an affiliate of Geico. The Acura dealer told me when they made the sunroof repair that someone had forcefully closed the sunroof cover causing the clips to break and that there was no way it was from age or deterioration. I am disabled and have had 3 surgeries on both of my shoulders. I am the only one who drives my car. It has always been difficult for me to close my sunroof and I have always used both arms to do it. It is physically impossible for me to use the amount of force required to close the sunroof breaking it.
My experience with Kniesel’s has been one of the worst in my life. I have all the records, work orders, everything to corroborate.

Thank you Terry the GM and Branden the project manager for clearing up some miss communication we had on vehicle repairs. They went above and beyond to make us happy. True professionals… we’ll us them again.

The work seems adequate, and it seemed to be done pretty quickly (a little over a week turn around for a rear-​ending). My complaint is mostly with the customer service. I had to call every couple days to be updated, never the other way around. Also, when I picked up my car it wasn’t cleaned.
As a little side note: when first inspected there was a small paint scrape that was unrelated that the guy said that he would put paint on while painting the repair portion… that never happened. I can’t complain about that necessarily because it was going to be a favor, but I’d rather he hadn’t offered if they were not going to follow through.
All in all, car stuff isn’t fun and they didn’t make it worse– but they lacked in communication and customer service.

Its difficult to write this review without use of too many superlatives.
Kniesel’s Collision Center is a perfect example of American business done right. The staff is exemplary. The workmanship superb. Even the wait area exudes class. This is why they are successful.
The repair was so well done by their expert technicians, that no matter how hard I looked, I couldn’t find where the repair was made. It looked like the factory finish… like it never happened.
Hopefully I won’t need this service in the future. But if I should or know of someone who does, I would recommend Kniesel’s without hesitation.

It is rare to find a large company that exhibits such wonderful characteristics like that of a small family-​run business. Kniesel’s has demonstrated integrity, humility, generosity, availability, and dedication to their customers. They have stayed true to their roots and values. They have helped me work through unfortunate circumstances and dilemmas with my vehicle. I would not go anywhere else, and either should you. Their service is impeccable!

Kniesel’s made my first experience with a collision repair business a great one. Their thoroughness and conscientiousness was evident through the regular communications I received. Terry is a consummate professional and a genuinely good person. Because of my experience with Kniesel’s, I would strongly recommend them to anyone in need of the services they provide.

Recently took my car in for repair. The staff seems nice enough but I was disappointed from the very beginning. First of all, they are supposed to check in with you every few days to give you a status on the repair of your vehicle. I called almost every other day to check on the status of my car. Second of all, it took them 11 days and then they finally told me to come and pick up my vehicle. On the day I went to pick up my vehicle I decided to inspect the vehicle before taking it off the lot. It appeared the damage had been repaired. But upon closer inspection I noticed there were dents lin the hood and paint chips. I asked Bob to come out and take a look at the car. I was confused because the hood had dents and paint chips on it. I’m not sure what had happened either somebody dropped a tool on top of the hood or it came from the actual accident itself. I called my insurance company immediately told them what I found and refused to take the car off the lot. Meanwhile two other gentlemen came out with Bob as I was leaving with the rental car once again to look at the damage on the hood. I was told the car would be back to me within 2 days and I would have it for the weekend. Called the day I was supposed to receive it and was told it would be Monday before I could get the car back due to painting booths being put in on another side of the building. I never heard a word and called on Tuesday to find out when the car would be ready. Again, disappointed with the fact that no one was keeping me apprised of the situation I finally got a call on Wednesday to come pick up the car. It took them 18 days to get my car back to me in the shape that it should be done in less time than that. I am very disappointed in the time frame it took and in the lack of concern on Kniesels part to make sure that they inspect the vehicle before allowing it to be taken off the lot. I would not recommend this repair company to anyone in the near future. The only thing I can say is the repairs were finally made to my satisfaction but it should never have taken 18 days. Also the fact of having a rental vehicle for this long cost more in gas money out of my pocket as well as cost for the rental itself was totally unnecessary whether covered by insurance or not.

This place is top notch. The staff are great, especially Bob, and the claims process for getting my car fixed there through Geico was excellent. They repaired my car in one week, which was fast compared to a similar accident I had a year ago where I went to another car repair facility. It was easy to get a rental car, and they ensured excellent customer service. The place is very nice and clean and it looks fancy despite being an auto repair shop. My battery died when I was leaving the shop and they not only let me keep my rental car for the weekend in order to figure out the problem, but they also paid for it so that I didn’t have to incur any charges. They fixed the battery problem and I got my car back on that Monday. This process was very easy, there were no wait times for me to check my car in or get it inspected and everyone there is very friendly and it makes me want to go back again. Great service, great people, and I highly recomment this place to anyone who needs auto body work done.

Recently took my car in and it was repaired in a timely manner and they did a great job. Great service and very nice people working there. Also really helpful that they are open on Saturdays.

Have waited over a month for them to get back to me regarding the wrong taillight that they replaced. Contacted them a couple of weeks ago, did not call back. After multiple failed attempts at buffing out the defects in the paint that they caused, they seemed unhappy with me instead of starting from square one and repainting it (rear bumper and trunklid). By far the worse company I have ever dealt with, customer service wise and quality-​wise. They cut corners, try to drag on the process so that I would quit bothering them, tried to bribe me with $ 50 for my «troubles». Totally unacceptable. Definitely will not return.

Absolutely as good as it gets. Professional and courteous and accommodating. They were very clear about my options, including those that made them less money. They went above and beyond and clearly have a desire to make customers happy by doing good, honest work.

Got rear ended on 4^th of July and did about $ 2600 in damage to our 2012 Hyundai Sonata. We searched Unilocal to find the best collision repair and ended up getting 4 estimates. Kniesel’s was in the middle of the pack as far as price. However they included OEM parts and and parts other shops wanted to just repair in place (Bondo). I called them on a Friday and dropped the car off on a Monday. They already ordered the parts and began working on it. We expected the car to be there for 2 weeks. They called us that same friday and said our car was done (5 days). I inspected the car and inside the trunk and under the car. I could not see any indication the car had ever been in an accident. The repairs included matching undercoating and hidden body panels matched paint. I was unbelievably blown away at the attention to detail. Definitely recommend this repair shop. The staff were very friendly and called me just to make sure we were happy with all the repairs. 5 stars for sure!

I love Terry and his team at Kniesel’s in Shingle Springs. They just took care of some warranty work for me and are always so professional and courteous. Terry even did a little extra. I will always bring my cars to any Kniesel’s for repair. I have never had a bad experience with either Shingle Springs or Rocklin.

took my truck in for bed repair on monday got it back like i was told on thursday. work was done perfect. terry the manager was great to work with. i am glad we have a shop up here in shingle springs that is this good.
