My husband and I visited this Monjunis after we had eaten a week before with another couple. The cooks look grungy, our waitress was untidy, and my husband complained of how disgustingly nasty the men’s restroom had been. You would think Monjunis would do a better job of keeping up the esthetics and cleanliness of the place. Even though the food was good, it was all we could do to choke down our food with the mental pictures of the poor hygiene and cleanliness of the employees. Sadly, we will not be a patron at this Monjunis location ever again!

Server and service was good. Just not a fan of the style of food. Spaghetti sauce was too sweet and bit on the bland side for me. The spaghetti was also not very hot. Most of the customers seemed happy with the food. I am from Fort Worth, so it may just be that I am used to food with a bit more spice than this. Anyway my least favorite spaghetti I have had. I suppose I will stick with seafood when in Louisiana for the rest of the week.

They outta be slapped upside the head for selling such a piece of garbage sandwich and calling it a Muffaletta! They obviously have no clue what a REAL New Orleans Muffaletta actually is. All I can say is that I wasted my money and I’ll never be back.

I’m not sure what I just ate but can’t wait to get back to Dallas where the food is actually good. The complimentary bread and sauce well we’re like really hard croutons. I had the vegetarian lasagna, the noodles are hard and undercooked and the«veggies» wee frozen carrots and broccoli I think you know the mixed frozen veggies you buy. A sprinkle of cheese and was drowning in sauce sweet awful sauce. The fettuccine Alfredo had to be doused in salt to have any taste at all the noodles were very dry. This place is awful, skip it. Well the tea was decent and the waitress was sweet.

Good food. Tasty muffaletta. Had the Italian sampler. Sauce is good, not sure what people are comparing it to? If you want a spicy diavola or arrabiatta sauce you can always add crushed red pepper. Bread is a hard traditional style, soak it in the sauce if you want it soft. Meatball was very tasty. This is a different take on Italian, very American/hearty country style. I have traveled the world and eaten at many places. This is affordable good food and a lot of it for the money. Glass of house chianti was only 5.00. It tasted great. Good tiramisu. I was here during rush lunch hour. Waitstaff not very personable, rushing. The online menu lists San Pellegrino sparkling water. Restaurant I visited in Sheveport on Luisianna Ave did not have any bottled water of any kind available, the restaurant copy of menu did not list bottled water so not same as website. Single serve restroom could use some renovation, maintenance, paint, scrubbing. Décor is fun inside. A little cluttered but visually captivating. Good place to feed the family or fill your belly! 4 stars for lack of continuity with franchise/online website glitches/no bottled water/update facilities. 4 stars for good food. Found this place while searching for another Italian place I had eaten at but could not remember location or name.

This place is my all time favorite. I love their sweet sauce and could make a meal off the sauce and bread that they bring to the table to snack on. I have yet to have anything there that I didn’t like. My all time favorite is the lasagna or the shrimp toast. If I could give more that 5 stars, I would.(Oh, and did I say that the Louisiana Street location is the best?)

I have been eating here since 1998 or so. This is one of my absolute places for Italian. The house salad is always fresh, and the sauce they use in their food has a very unique taste. I know they used to sell it in the store itself, and even in some of the local grocery stores around Shreveport. I always get the Italian Sampler, because i love both the lasagna and the pasta and meat balls. The crispy bread and sauce they bring out first is always a great start. Do yourself a favor, and get a house salad with your entrée. They always use fresh vegetables and the house dressing is awesome. Anytime I am in Shreveport or passing through I have to stop here and have a meal, and you should too!

Pros — Good service. Alfredo was okay. Muffulatta was very good. Portions are huge. No way you don’t take home leftovers. If you want to eat this again. Cons — You can actually buy the sauce at the store and at the restaurant. I have no idea why anyone would. This is the worst red sauce I have ever eaten. I got the sampler and the sauce was so sweet and thick you could not eat it. The meat balls are huge if that is what you like. I prefer smaller and much more tender. I would rater have 2 high quality balls than a baseball on my plate.

We usually go to the one on airline drive in Bossier. I love their bread and sauce(ridiculously overpriced if you order it to go) so I try to eat in. I ALWAYS get the shrimp spaghetti. Hubs gets spaghetti with meatballs and we always have left overs. Sauce is sweet so beware if you don’t like sweet sauce.

I recently found a piece of plastic in my sandwich, gross! The spaghetti sauce is sugary and sweet like they pored sugar over your food. I hate this place.

I have been coming to monjunis for over 15 years during business. The shrimp aurora is my fav dish. I also buy 6 quarts of sauce to take home to NC when in between trips. I highly recommend this place. Have traveled the world and monjunis ranks up there with the best!

This used to be a must stop when I would visit Shreveport to see family. WTH happened? I have recently been to both the Youree Drive and Lousiana Ave locations and both were equally terrible. The pasta was overcooked, gummy, and tasteless while floating in too much sauce. The meatballs we just had tonight were undercooked. The salads were lifeless. So disappointed in wht this place has devolved from the heights it used to occupy.

Disappointed. I have driven past this restaurant and have always seen cars in the parking lot. It looked like a popular spot. So I ordered take out and was massively let down. When I walked in the restaurant it smelled heavenly of tomato sauce and parmessan cheese, the décor was cute too with a bunch of Mona Lisa art everywhere. Also yhe restaurant was packed, I thought I made a good choice of restaurants to visit. My husband had the neaopolotin pasta dish, and I had the sampler. We both agree that it tastes like the ingredients came out of a can, the sauce was way to sweet for a pasta dishes, and it was overly spiced to cover up the flavor of canned food. The sampler came with a quarter of a muffaleta sandwich, and that tasted like the meat and all its flavorings were pepperoni. I am sad to know that a popular little restaurant is nothing more than reheated canned food.

This use to be a great local place. The side salad was very overdressed. Garlic bread/toast were like large croutons hard and no taste. We ordered ziti, lasagna, spaghetti w meatball. Nothing special I’ve actually had better from Stouffer’s frozen dinners. Our waiter was nice, friendly, and attentive. Next time in the area I’ll just go to Olive Garden or maybe just skip Italian. Everything was just swimming in their sweet sauce that was just meh in flavor.

Ok. I enjoy the atmosphere, and no doubt about it that their lasagna and bread is amazing, but I honestly can’t say there’s much else about Monjuni’s I enjoy. Most of their menu items are gigantic platters of nothing special. Monjunis is best for ordering an entire lasagna to bring to events or for big family dinners.

Maybe at some point this was a local gem, but as it stands now: a big disappointment. Upon walking in, the kitch factor leads you to believe that this is a family run Italian joint that knocks out killer food. Instead its a place staffed by kids and a kitchen run by cooks that seem to play with their phones and laugh out loud. I did not meet a single person during my visit that would lead me to believe this was a genuine family run establishment. Service was barely acceptable and food was worse. In addition to my meal I decided to order a sausage and meatball as app, in order to gauge their claimed home made statements. The meatball was decent size and melted in your mouth: a definite winner. The sausage on the other hand, was overpriced for the link you get and was overcooked; in addition to not tasting freshly made. I would pass on the sausage, but meatball is worth ordering. The chix parm I ordered was moist, but it was covered in heavy breading that was charred. The parm is hidden in a huge portion of angel hair pasta drenched in sauce. No matter what side of the debate you are on regarding the sweet vs. spicy gravy, no one would want their dish swimming in it! On top of all this, they serve toasted bread(more toast than bread) with sauce. This is a first for me, usually you get freshly baked bread and oil, parm, etc. Taking the lazy way out? Sorry, but I will not be coming back.

Well, after asking several people about Italian food in Shreveport, this is the name I heard the most. So, we went and got some grub. We also got a gift certificate worth 25. Let me just say in the end we ended up spending about 65 $ including tax, tip, and gift card on food that we could not/would not eat. First, they bring out some kind of rock hard stale toast, with a large side of marinara sauce for dipping. This might have been a winner had the toast been an interesting bread and the sauce not taste sickeningly sweet, and canned. It was piping hot, but was so sweet, nothing would make it taste better. So, after a couple of bites, the bread just sat on the table. Ordered a caesar salad. It was extra, and came out in a bowl smaller than the one our marinara sauce was occupying. What’s worse, it tasted like glue. So. caesar salad went uneaten. To the servers credit, one of the 3 times he was at our table he noticed the salad was untouched and offered to take it off the bill. Dinner. Ordered the Eggplant Parm, and the Shrimp Aurora. When they came out, it looked delicious! Lots of cheese, and I love angel hair pasta. However, upon first bite, all was not well in Monjuniville. The entire Eggplant dish was swimming in that awful marinara sauce that the bread came with! I was so angry I just wanted to send it back! However, this wasn’t one of the 3 times our server came by, so we were both stuck with marinara pasta. When he did come back, we’d eaten about ten bites each of the stuff. The server asked if we wanted a box, we laughed and asked for the bill. Do yourself a favor, small time charm can only take you so far, and if you’re starving this may be the ticket, but if you like good food, service, and variety, look elsewhere.

Love their Mint Tea! This is a Shreveport staple, so I had to stop by when I was in town. The outdoor seating on a nice day is really nice. I had the Chicken Pasta salad, which was just«ok”(-1). The dressing seemed kind of off. However, my friend pasta dish was amazing(+1) When I return, I’ll be sure to try some of their other menu item. Like most places in the south, the portion are massive so expect to have leftovers or split an entrée.

This is the best Monjunis location — nothing like eating under those vintage pendant lamps and fake ivy and grapes hanging from the ceiling! I’ve been enjoying Monjuni’s for over 15 years and it is consistently good. Their spagetti and meatball is unlike any other italian restaurant I’ve eaten at. The marinara is very sweet but I have grown to crave it over the years. My husband makes a kick ass bolanese(sure that spelling is botched) sauce from scratch that is very garlicky and savory so I would have to come to Monjuni’s when I needed something different! Also, I have to get my milky way mini cake!
