This place has the best carne asada on the planet. I promise. My family and I come here all the time. My two year old loves watching the fresh tortillas. Repeat customers who are always made felt like family when we come.

Had to give a review. Had a party of 11 for my moms birthday and the entire staff was hands down AMAZING!!! Jessica was our waitress and she was exceptional! We have come here in the past but the service tonight was just great! They really made my moms birthday special. The food was hot and good! Drinks were delish! We sat out in the patio although a chilly night but the heaters were going and felt great! But tv screen with ESPN on so my brothers and nephews were in heaven! They even let me bring in my own cake and sang happy birthday to my mom! It was a great night. Thanks to Jessica and the owners for making it special!

Bruh… Where do I start… First off Mexican food isn’t even my favorite however I went to show support for a friend, and hang out with some others. Now I didn’t have nothing. Not even a glass of water. I was there to converse. When my friends got the check, everything was on one bill. They were told that if they wanted to split the check they should of said it in the beginning.(Like people always think of that). I mean some do and some don’t. So once the check comes, it’s about as long as a rich kids Christmas list. Like its long. So my friends try and dissect the check to see who all paid what. Eventually they have it settled and give the payment to the waiter. 5 minutes later buddy comes back saying there’s 40 dollars in accounted for. So basically we stayed for another 45 minutes, pulling out ti-83 graphing calculators trying to figure out where is this money the waiter speaks of. Turns out the waiter ended up charging us for drinks none of us had. Finally they just end up splitting the check after we talked with the nice manager. But I tell you, all that grief was pointless. I would’ve gone here for the margaritas and what not but this experience kinda left a bad first impression. I’ll put them in time out for now. May try them again later.

Last night, we ate for the first time at Mi Rancho in Silver Spring. I was craving Tex Mex and since it was between our house and the Regal Majestic where we were planning an after dinner movie, it seemed worth a try. On warm Saturday nights(even in the winter), Silver Spring is abuzz with people and last night was no exception. The restaurant was fairly crowded, but it’s a large place, so no issue with accommodation. We were able to sit in the outdoor section that is covered with plastic and kept warm with tall, gigantic heaters, strategically placed. I’m sure the outdoor area is nice in the summer. not much to look at in winter, but we really only wanted to eat, so no problem. The wait staff was attentive and patient as it took me awhile to peruse the menu since I’d never been there. I had the enchilada combo and my husband had the veggie fajitas. We had a side of guacamole with our meal. Throughout the meal the wait staff was attentive but not overbearing, so the service I would say, is excellent. The food? On the upside, the ingredients were very high quality. The beef in the enchiladas(and I had a taco too) was finely ground with not a bit of fat or gristle. The guacamole tasted fresh, the chips were light and there wasn’t a lot of extra grease in the food, so I was happy with that. I even enjoyed the rice and beans. The presentation of the meal was nice with plenty of extra chopped lettuce, tomato and sour cream to accompany the food. We didn’t need to ask for one thing extra. My husband had 3 tortillas with his fajitas. The food was plentiful and the cost was good, considering all that we ordered. The downside was that the food was quite bland. The taco/enchilada beef had no seasoning. I actually added salt at the table, since it didn’t taste even salty enough. My husband had the same issue with the fajitas. no seasoning that he could taste. It was basically a bunch of fried veggies with tortillas. The salsa that was served with the meal was a bit watery and not especially flavorful either. The meal came with no extra sauce to enhance the flavors. So it was a good portion of food. quality ingredients, but simply very bland. I joked with my husband that if we ate there again, I’d stash a packet of Old El Paso seasoning mix in my bag! Also this restaurant was a bit more family friendly than I had expected, and screaming infants and toddlers abounded. It was quite noisy. Will we eat there again? Maybe. But next time, I’ll pack some hot sauce and some taco seasoning mix. Not the best tex mex or the best atmosphere for it, but an adequate amount of food and great service. Reservations for large parties only.

Mi Rancho is a great restaurant and we live near it, so I love smelling it while walking home deo work. The food is good, but it is a bit on the pricy side for tex mex… there are more reasonable places a further drive away, but it’s very close and convenient and we’ve eaten their many times And never had bad service. I was a but disappointed last time since one of my favorite things were the $ 6 sangrias… normally I get 2 and get a nice buzz, but I think they watered it down last time.

We love this restaurant! The steak fajitas are delicious! We also love the chips and salsa… the chips are light and crunchy — the best kind! We especially love sitting outside on the covered patio all year round! The staff are great and very friendly! Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Food was just okay. The environment is very family oriented. I got a sizzling shrimp meal with onions, peppers, in a tomato sauce. Most meals come with pico de gallo, tortillas, beans, & rice. I think the best part was my patron margarita… and making my date drop $ 100 on dinner. What can I say? Go hard or go home.

Get the pork ribs. End of review. Ok, not really but that is the hot take. I have been to Mi Rancho I think three times now, and I always found it a very serviceable place to get your Margaritas on. It had decent enough Mexican classics, better than most in the DC area, but nothing to write home about. Then I had the ribs. The thing is, I have never eaten Mexican pork ribs before coming to DC, and then I had them from Tacqueria Distrito Federal, and they weren’t great. As I may have mentioned in another review, like that of DCity Smokehouse, I have a particular love for a Memphis-style saucy, tangy-sweet pork rib. Nothing else really qualifies. So the Mi Rancho ribs: I saw they were in a couple of places in the menu, so they weren’t trying to hide them, and it is an unusual enough offering that, this placement suggests they were, in fact, quite confident in their ribs(come to Unilocal for the reviews, stay for the textual analysis!) It was between that and the carne asada, which I could actually smell, and which is not common in DC either(good luck getting that cut at Safeway!) My subconscious, which I had been listening to all day, did not lead me astray. The ribs came and they were a nice lean piece of meat, not a bit fatty, in a dry rub that was a really unique blend of sweet and cumin, almost a curry-like flavor. Delicious. The Colonel, who was maybe a tad underwhelmed by his steak burrito, had one bite and declared me the ‘winner’ even though there was not a contest as far as I was aware. I didn’t eat my sides, but I did eat two of the the fresh-made tortillas, the guacamole, and pico de gallo, and it was a perfect amount. His steak burrito tasted fine to me, btw, and we studiously ignored the Sprossling, who literally mixed all of his food and all of everyone’s sides into a giant ‘salad’ on his plate and inhaled it, along with about a half gallon of orange juice(he is fifteen what I can I say?) Sprossling really loved their salsa, too, which when asked the waitress said was made in house. The margaritas, hmm, I sometimes kind of wish I had not been exposed to REALLYGOOD margaritas, because it ruins the regular kind — oh you use sweet and sour mix? How much simple syrup did you put in there, anyway? I don’t need a fishbowl for my drink, thank YOU. They were okay enough that I had two(and I really needed the painkilling that Friday) but I can’t in good conscious recommend them. Get the ribs.

A couple of friends I was getting dinner with while in town for a conference suggested this place, which was within walking distance from their place. We sat in the covered outdoor area which was really nice! The tortillas were very tasty, as well as the food: I split some veggie fajitas and chicken enchiladas and the portions were plenty to leave us very full. For drinks, the horchata was creamy and sweet — I haven’t had much of the drink so I don’t have much to judge it against. The service was a tad slow given the time of night(it was a late-ish dinner around 8:45), but there seemed to be two large birthday gatherings at other tables so I’m sure the staff were just overwhelmed. I would love to come back here if I’m ever in the area!

Best get together place! Always accomodate large groups. I love the Chile rellenos and margaritas on the rocks. Service was a little slower than expected, but food was hot and delish.

Service. Mango margarita. Food. And location was great. One of my friend suggested this place and we met for a lunch. waiters were very friendly and food came out really quickly and tasty. Only problem is parking gets hectic but if willing to walk, you can park at dtss parking lot and walk. Not too far…

The food is good, prices are fair, and, when it’s warm out, we love eating in the outdoor covered area! Some of the drinks can be a bit pricey but if you order a pitcher, it’s a better deal. Willing to work with food allergies and the owner is good about coming around. Parking Tip: don’t park in the diner lot right next door. Go across the street to the garage(free after rush hour).

Good food, chips and salsa were great, quick service for the most part. Our waitress must’ve been slow because we had to ask three separate times for a menu and she first brought us 1 menu for two people, then a drink menu, then finally another menu for food. I ordered the chicken enchilada and it was great. Reminded me of Chuy’s enchiladas except much more cheesier which wasn’t a bad thing surprisingly. Super yummy.

Not sure what the negative reviews are about — especially regarding the service! We found the service to be exceptional — on par with super high end restaurants in the District that have cost us 3−4X the price of a meal here. We had water and fresh chips and salsa on the table before I could even put my gloves/hat away. Now for you faux-Mex fans, their table salsa is made mild, with fresh tomatoes(the lighter red salsa on the right in my pic). Most of you are used to cooked tomato salsa, which often more closely resembles tomato paste in texture… but this is not what you can expect here. Now if you can HANDLETHEHEAT, I recommend asking for their salsa picante(spicy salsa) which was wonderfullllll… full of flavor and spice, but NOT for the weak of palate. We had a small pitcher of their Mi Rancho margaritas and their Rancheros nachos between the two of us. The only reason why I give them four and not five stars is because I prefer a 100% agave and lime margarita, with NOMIX whatsoever. The perfect margarita is simply fresh lime juice, agave nectar, sea salt, and high quality tequila. Basta. That’s it. I would pay twice the price for this margarita, in this ambience, with their salsa picante.

I’ve always enjoined the Chimichungas at Mi Rancho, buy this review is about the new Chocolate Margarita. It’s good, but not great. Think Chocolate Martini but with tequila. I did LOVE the fact that our super awesome server took the drink back and had the bartender pump up the chocolate. The finished product was a winner! If you’re looking for a fun chocolate drink, try it. But if you want to have a Tex-Mex night on the town… stick to the more traditional tequila cocktails.

This place works for me. In fact I think it has gotten better over time. During this last visit, we were greeted by the owner & we were able to get a table inside to watch the World Cup. I was hungry so we ordered the shrimp and steak quesadilla, the chicken and beef fajitas, and some margaritas. It was good! The tortillas were fresh; chips and salsa, yum! I was in my happy place with my belly being full and no problem getting a table or parking outside. See you soon Mi Rancho!
