I love Phở and DC has the goods. This is a better-than-average, but not stunning Phở place. The only thing that really sets it apart are that it feels a bit higher-end than other places. The tables and space are just classier than the usual, slightly-run-down and more sterile hole-in-the-wall feel. For me, that’s a bit of a turn off since I grew up eating Phở in the hole-in-the-wall places, but such is life. The actual Phở was quite good. I got the veggie with beef broth and it came with broccoli, mushrooms and tofu all of which were great. The broccoli was firm, but cooked, which it is frequently not. The broth was good, but not quite as good as most places I’d come back to.

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed my favorite Phở place. Not to many words to explain. Great food, beautiful dining area, lovely staff, and good pricing..

Oh my goodness. I had the Meatball Phở and it was amazing. I got a small and it was big. I almost finished all of it it was that good. Seriously trust me it was lick the bowl good. We had spring rolls that were good too. Everyone’s dish looked awesome. You know food is good when it everyone starts eating and it gets quiet because everyone is enjoying their food. The atmosphere is nice, clean, and well kept. They had on good calming music too.

Tried this place for the first time on a Sunday afternoon with a large party. I wasn’t too hungry so I ordered a grilled pork banh mi($ 5.25?) It was pretty delicious, but it was too much bread. Majority of it was bread. The grilled pork was flavorful though. The phở seemed a bit overpriced compared to other phở restaurants. I think the small bowl was $ 8 something. They were accommodating to our large group so that was definitely a plus. Great service, friendly staff! You could find street parking or a nearby public garage!

I recently have become a huge fan of phở and think it’s phở-ckin’ awesome. Compared to Phở 75 that I went to in Rockville, this place was amazing. The service was nothing to brag about but the phở I got(P3) had a flavorful and rich broth. It was a really cold night and this little inexpensive dinner date was perfect for both of us. My gf ordered the Phở Ga(P12) and the chicken was delicious. Pretty cool that they have a chicken and vegan option phở. We drove here from Bethesda after reading many reviews of nearby Phở places and now I think we found our regular jawn. Perfect place on a cold winter night

Second time here, but first review because we had take out last time. The Phở was tasty, and we also had the beef tips; which was cooked to perfection. There was a mistake with our order, so our food was delayed, but the manager offered free dessert to make up for the delay. I would definitely come back for the food. The place was packed. Bring your appetite.

I’ve eaten here twice now, both before concerts at the Fillmore across the street. Both times, I ordered phở with meatballs, and both time I was completely satisfied… Good flavor to the broth and generous with the meatballs. Nice atmosphere, great food, friendly service.

Love the restaurant and now I’m a regular. They have free wifi, bubble tea, and dessert in addition to their delicious menu. The interior is always very clean and so are the bathrooms. Wait staff is friendly and prompt. The menu consists of appetizers(mostly rolls), banh mi, phở, and meat/rice dishes. Let’s start with rolls: I’ve had just about every one and my favorite is the autumn roll so far, with its gelatinous chewy outer wrapper, meat, and flavorful sauce. Phở and broth is phenomenal(as it should be) and definitely the star of the menu– I usually get beef brisket, but there are plenty of other options. Banh mi is similarly delicious. Now, you really should try the meat dishes; you can choose either rice or vermicelli noodles(I find rice the most suitable for soaking up sauce). Pork is my favorite by far, but the caramelized fish in claypot is also quite good. Be warned that the fish is tilapia, but if you’re ok with that, it’s one heck of a fish dish. Overall, this place is definitely a winner and you should give it a try! You really can’t go wrong.

This was me and my fiancé’s first time here — and quite impressed. Probably the best Vietnamese in the downtown Silver Spring area. Right when we walked in, the smell of amazing flavorful broth smacked me in the face. Mmmm, that’s when you know it’s good. We ordered the summer rolls, vegan spring rolls, veggie phở and grilled chicken bahn mi. My soup was delicious and flavorful(which is RARE for veggie broths). Vegan spring rolls were soooo good. And the summer rolls were good — standard. And my fiancé liked the chicken bahn mi. The only downfall is they didn’t have the traditional cold cut combination bahn mi, which is her favorite. They do offer plenty of vegan options in each category which is nice! Service was prompt, good and pleasant. Prices are average for the area. The ambiance is casual, clean and modern. Christmas music blasting in the background. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stopped in for lunch on Sunday. The food was very good. We had the Shaky beef, which was tender and very flavorful. We also had the caramelized fish in clay pot. Although the favors were good the fish itself was not that great. It was basically frozen tilapia fillets. Not sure if this dish is usually made with fillets of fish but I’m betting it would have tasted much better if they used whole fish! The food deserves 4 stars! The service was not excellent. My husband and I felt ignored, while we watched other patrons get the full attention of wait staff. There were 3 other parties there when we were. I didn’t want to say anything but we were never offered drinks or even asked if we wanted to try desert. As we paid our bill and walked away I asked my husband how he felt about the overall experience and he confirmed he felt a bit ignored as well. Minus one star for the bad service.

Phở here is blah, & is quite expensive. A large bowl for $ 10& my bowl barely had meat! The broth was mediocre. Needless to say I will not be back. There are plenty of other Phở spots around…

So i went here again and ordered summer roll and phở. Summer Roll tasted great as always. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the phở. The phở(broth) was definitely lacking in flavor. The taste made me think as if the chef just added more water to the pot because they were running low on the broth; it was watered down. Maybe a novice diner wouldn’t be able to tell a difference, but you can’t fool a phở– veteran. I ordered the small bowl and didn’t even feel like finishing it.

First time here and I have to admit, this is by far the best phở I’ve had in Silver Spring. I got the special phở with tenderloin. The broth is incredibly flavorful and the portion of meat is generous. I came on a quiet Wednesday evening. Service was appropriately attentive. I will definitely return to try other dishes!

best viet food in dowtown silver spring. phở hiep hoa is not good. lotus café gives me the dirty creeps. the ice coffee was fine. it wasnt too sweet or too weak. we ordered summer rolls which were just eh. they were skinny and had a lot of noodles– not much of anything else. i love my rolls filled with crisp iceberg lettuce lol. yeah i know its just a filler but i love them like that. i ordered vermicelli bowl with chicken. there was a lot of chicken in it. the fish sauce was good and flavorful. my fiancé ordered phở. the broth was good and clean. he devoured it before i paid attention to anything. that has to be a good sign right? will come again if we want phở in dtss.

Two and a half stars. Cute interior, polite staff, empty tables. Egg was cooked through(I hardly see the point of putting an egg on a long sandwich if it’s not runny), and my reasonably fresh to-go banh mi bread wasn’t sliced for me so I had to tear it open myself while picnicking in the plaza nearby. Steak was cooked to medium but fairly tender. Summer rolls were slender, shrimp and no pork with hardly any veg. At least the café sua da was robust with more french drip than condensed milk like I prefer. Might give them another chance with phở and taro smoothie with bubbles.

We went here during their opening last year and got subpar, slightly bland phở and have since then past this place numerous times on the way to work. I’m so glad we gave this spot a second chance because it’s only 2 minutes from our building! I’m always on the search for the next best banh mi and I think Phở Tan Vinh’s is probably in my top 5. We ordered the grilled pork banh mi and phở. The meat to veggie ratio of the sandwich was perfect. The pork was so juicy and deliciously marinated. The daikon and carrot were cool, crunchy and refreshing. The bread was also chewy and fluffy. This banh mi costs more than the usual 3 to 4 bucks but I would say it’s worth it. Due to the size, I would suggest getting two. After drizzling siracha and hoisin sauce all over my sandwich, I was a happy happy girl. We even ordered another to go. I wasn’t too excited for the phở but I was pleasantly surprised. They must have worked the kinks out since the opening because this phở’s broth definitely had more depth and they did not skimp out on the meat! No more driving to Langley park when I’m hungover and needing my phở elixir. The ambience is also a lot more chic than most phở joints. The seating is plush with lots of pillows. I’ll be back for more sandwiches phosho.

I really love this place. Great atmosphere and good food. We’ve gotten their phở, their pork banh mi, summer rolls, and beignets. Their phở is well made — the broth has a lot of beef flavor. The banh mi is made with fresh bread that’s properly toasted(crunchy on outside and soft inside). It comes deconstructed so you have to build it yourself, but they give you a lot to put in it. The summer rolls are like your typical summer rolls so nothing special there. The beignets were a disappointment — it just consisted of fried dough with some sugar. I would recommend adding some sauce. We’ve gotten good service, so no complaint there. I definitely think this is the best phở place in Silver Spring right now.

I ordered a shrimp banh mi without pâté and mayo and it was excellent! The shrimp was grilled to perfection with just the right amount of spices, the veggies were fresh, and the baguette was perfectly soft, with just the right amount of crunch. I dipped my sandwich in hoisin and sriracha and enjoyed every single bite. The prices are very reasonable, the waiters are friendly, and the restaurant was clean. I’ll most definitely eat here again.

Been her a few times, and it’s a spot for Phở that does it decently well. It’s not the best I have had but it will do. They don’t give you enough basil for one thing, also too often the leaves are not good quality, so you end up not being able to use those either. Th the large bowl isn’t that much bigger or plentiful compared to the small. I almost always go for Tai and the beef is fine, but I wish it was served a little more rare. The noodles though are perfect and the broth is excellent. Other items are also really good too. Pork and vermicelli with the fish sauce noodles is savory. The pork is just the right amount of lightly fried, with a crisp batter but not excessive and great spices in the mix as well. Bahn mi’s here are also real solid. Glad to know if there’s a phở fix I need I don’t have to go far.

After our third visit in 10 days, I feel compelled to write a review about this wonderful place! First, allow me to profess that their Phở is the BEST in the area! The Chicken Phở is my absolute favorite(with extra onions)! :) Secondly, their portions are far from controlled!(In a great way) They give you sooo much food for a great price! The owner, Tiffany, is the sweetest and very hardworking! She takes the time to get to know her customers. We are now regulars! :) Menu Items We’ve Tried: Chicken Phở Chicken Wings(in fish sauce) — interesting smell, phenomenal taste! Rib Rolls — AMAZING!!! Vermicelli & Rice Entrees(shrimp, pork, and combo plate) all delicious! Their Cheesecake was pretty awesome as well!
