The clothes appear to be clean. The turn around was fast. The folding not as good as I had expected.

Surprisingly not busy on a Sunday morning. Maybe most of the predominately Hispanic customers are still at church. Washer rates have gone up by a quarter. I probably could have fit my load in the mid-sized wager for $ 4.25, but for just $ 1.25 more my clothes have room to twist and turn. Wash and fold service is now $ 1.15/lb, which really isn’t too bad considering the time it saves you. Other places are sill $ 1.00/lb though. WiFi is free and you don’t have to ask for their password.

I have been using Spring Center Laundry for wash and fold for the past 3 years. Place an order online and Troy, the Laundromat owner, promptly responds via email to arrange a time to pick up. Usually Troy is able to wash and fold my laundry and turn it around in less than 24 hours. I highly recommend for anyone looking to shave off an item from their weekend to do list!

I was literally here for about eight hours for the two days that I’ve was there. It’s a laundry mat, nothing really exciting happening here. The prices here weren’t bad but they weren’t good either. There are three different sized machines: small, medium, and large for the washer. I know I uploaded a tip about the prices but can’t remember them now. Anyways, it got busy around the afternoon on a Saturday. When we came back Sunday, it was less crowded. However, one of the dryer kept on opening? And we didn’t want to change dryers because our money was already in it. Oh another thing is if you don’t hear the machine beep when you put in the money, hit the coin thing a little so you hear the beep, I found out if you don’t hear the beep it doesn’t count. Maybe that’s how they take extra money? Well this place did the job I needed it to do so meh.

(Curtis has more than a few words to say about this laundromat so I’ll let him review it.) So after working all day Saturday, Jade had a great idea. Let’s take our laundry to a wash and fold service. I, being quite tired(and equally lazy), agreed. We took it to Spring Family Laundromat, located on 16th Street in Silver Spring. My first impressions of the place were not so good. I thought the place was kind of dirty, as many laundromats seem to be(ironically enough, considering they provide cleaning services). I also noted how much more expensive the machines are than other laundromats in the area. The drop off seemed simple enough, put your clothes on the scale, fill out a ticket, and pay. Reluctantly, Jade handed over $ 30 for 30 lbs. of clothes to the woman who annoyingly remained on her mobile phone the entire time and didn’t bother to exclude the weight of our laundry baskets. Things got interesting the next day when we came back to pick up the clothes. The same woman that was working the night before was still there talking on the phone. I did not have my ticket, so she had to look me up in her book, which she put John(my birth name) instead of my last name. Now I am not going to even try to guess how many Johns live in the DC-Silver Spring area, but I would bet my life there are more than a few. She confirmed that my laundry weighed 30 lbs. and then gave me the bags. She then asked for the $ 30… I had to explain to her that Jade had paid her the night before. She seemed mystified. I just picked up my clothes and walked out, vouching never to return. To her credit, the laundry is neatly folded, better than I could say if I had done it myself. The morals of the story: (1) First impressions sometimes are correct; Trust your gut. (2) Get a receipt, especially when paying in cash. (3) Keep accurate records, and remember to keep them available for when you need them. (4) Hang up the mobile once in awhile, especially when doing business. (5) If you want something done right(and cheap), do it yourself.
