I ordered delivery from them thru Grub Hub. 2 Hours later when I called, they said they didn’t have a driver. And nothing else. And this after they confirmed the order electronically. Too bad because the food is decent, but I won’t be going back or ordering for delivery.

Our order took an hour and a half to get to us and the food was cold. I got the appetizer sampler and they didn’t separate the wings from the sour cream and guacamole so the wings had sour cream on them which is nasty. The nachos were just soggy chips w melted shredded cheese on it. The quesadilla was delicious but the taco had some sort of mystery meat in it. The fact that the food was cold after taking forever to get to us is despicable and definetly not worth $ 20. The pupusa was good and my fries were cold n soggy. They didn’t even answer the phone when I called multiple times. Take your business elsewhere especially if you want to eat soon.

Full Disclosure: this was a DELIVERY order. So, that’s a bonus, they deliver through GrubHub. Which is nice. I had the mixed enchiladas for lunch(one each beef, chicken, cheese). The tortillas were both overcooked(falling apart) and too tough in different spots, it was weird. They were covered in a light sauce with cheese, which was pleasant. They came with a trio of toppings on the side: sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole. These were all very good, but the pico had big chunks of chiles, which made for spicy bites. Not as cohesive as I would have liked. The fillings were… okay. Chicken was very grey(assuming all dark meat?), but still quite moist. Not a great flavor, though. Same with the beef; it was shredded, which was pleasant surprise from the expected ground offering. Also lacked flavor, though, though by contract with the chicken you could definitely tell it was beef. The cheese was cheese, nothing really news-worthy there. The sides were decent; rice was nicely salty, which I liked. Otherwise, just plain white rice, no tomato or other flavors added. The beans(black) were more sauc than I would have preferred, but had a decent flavor to them. They really should fish out the bay leaves, though… Also, I found a very tiny hair in my rice, about the size of an eyebrow hair. I honestly can’t say it wasn’t mine, so I’m not going to hold that against them, but I can’t say it was mine, so I don’t know… it is what it is. Overall, very underwhelming. For the price($ 11 for the three enchilada meal), it was not a great value. The fillings could have used a touch more salt, or flavor of some type, and the portion, while not small, was definitely not worth the price, at least not compared to other similar offerings in the area. I’ve definitely had better, though I can honestly say this was nowhere near the worst.

TORN — very much appreciated them putting EVERYTHING in separate containers when I ordered vegetarian Nacho’s via GrubHub and asked for the chips to be separated — so no melted cheese and I don’t own a microwave — so the nacho’s were just so so! Would have been much better with melted cheese. So I can only say they really went all out to try to please my request and it was really nice of them to be so thoughtful. I will try to get something from them another time but not the nacho’s.

This place was okay. We ordered takeout, took a while to get to us. The Supreme fajitas I got were just fine. My friends were satisfied with their meals and their nachos. The ceviche was absolutely inedible, however. The fish tasted rotten and like it had been frozen, the calamari rings were hard as rocks, and it was $ 3 more expensive than at any other restaurant I’ve ever had it out. We paid around $ 13 dollars for it, and I took two bites and threw the rest out. Huge waste of money.

Great hole in the wall! It’s very convenient, ethnic, no long lines and close to come. Every time I come here the food is great! The fajitas are great. They have a big fajita dish in the appetizer section that comes with yuca… Simply fabulous! The atmosphere is ehhh nothing great. Honestly I just come here for the food. Perfect place for a late night dinner.

I had a craving for Mexican food and like usual I didn’t want to drive to far to get it. So, I did a little research for Mexican restaurant’s spots close to my residence on Unilocal.Several came up but one had more praises of the food taste and quality than the others and that was Taco Mex. I walk past this place all the time to pick up food from the Chinese take out stop next door. On a Thursday evening after work the crazing was too strong to ignore, I walked in to the establishment and noticed several Latinas at the bar, one of them took my order(she was very nice!!), I was kinda leary about walking in because of another review that described the females as being bar-hoochies! But I didn’t get that feel at all :) I ordered the shrimp/chicken/steak fajita and Tres leches(milk cake) to go. Got home, everything was packaged well and the food was well seasoned, fresh and delicious! The prices were a little high then what I assumed they would be for Tex-Mex. Plenty of food left over for lunch the next day.

People need to stop bagging on Taco Mex, yo. It was delicious. I got chicken tacos(asked for hard shell, got soft shell, no biggie … happens in other restaurants all the time), and my boyfriend got something vegetarian and delicious that I don’t remember. We also had some fried plantains and beans for the table. Freaking awesome. All of it. I ate my tacos faster than my boyfriend could finish his meal, which is saying something — I’m a talker, which means I’m a slow eater. The fact that I beat him is a big deal. I wasn’t crazy about their chips and salsa, but I’m not usually crazy about the chips and salsa in the DC area. It all tastes weird to me. I don’t know why. Their jukebox was cracking me up. They were playing telenovelas on the TV and Nirvana on the jukebox. Now that I know they have karaōke nights, I want to go back. It was kind of in the middle of nowhere, though, so I doubt I’ll go back, but if it’s near you, stop by one night! You’ll love the comida.

Was passing through and stopped by to grab dinner with a friend. This was close to their place, and when you’re hungry, convenience is welcomed. It’s a small restaurant and bar in a strip mall. First thing I notice when I walk in is the extremely garish table set up — square tables, white cloth under a plastic cover, a fake red flower in the middle. eeek! There are tv’s everywhere, behind the bar and on the other 2 walls, all showing soccer games, and there is authentic music playing, which directly contrasts with the huge electronic juke box on the wall. The place is dead, at 6−7pm on a Tuesday night. While we eat, a few people pick up carry out orders, but we’re the only diners. Complimentary chips and what appears to be homemade salsa is served. Unlike a previous reviewer, my salsa was not bursting with cilantro — in fact, it barely had any. It was chock full of onions, and was somewhat watery. It was slightly on the bland side. Drinks were served promptly. Water was refilled regularly. We ordered the sampler platter — a mix of nachos, cheese quesadilla, chicken flauta?, and wings. Sadly, this dish came out maybe 5 minutes before our actual meals came out. It would have been nice had they spaced it out a bit more, but oh well. The sampler platter was decent, but not really worth the $ 9 in my opinion. I ordered Beef Fajitas($ 16) on the recommendation of the server. I was going to order seafood but in her limited English, she mentioned for her, she preferred the fajitas. I don’t know if this is because the seafood wasn’t as fresh or just her type of food, but I’m not one to dislike fajitas, so awesome. My fajitas were sizzling. Awesome. Server also brought out a decent amount of fajitas 6 – 8(some places seem to like bringing out 3 or 4 at a time — regardless of how many people at the table are eating fajitas — Rio Grande comes to mind. :)). Beef was well flavored. Otherwise, the fajitas are served with black beans, white rice, and a pico with tomatoes and onion(no cilantro?), sour cream, and guac. The guacamole isn’t made in house — but is more the pre-bought kind with entirely too much acid/lime juice. It kind of soured my meal so i stopped eating it. My friend ordered the house specialty steak — which I didn’t get the name of, but is pictured on the menu. It’s a steak with a cream sauce, and shrimp on top. It’s an unusual way to eat steak, but I tasted the sauce it and it was pretty good. comes with a side salad and beans. They apparently do Karaōke here and on those nights, this place is packed. It’s good for a quick meal, but it’s decent. However, some things were very well seasoned, and others were bland at best. 2.5 stars.

Taco Mex is a place I would give 3.5 stars. I’m driving back from Baltimore to Glenmont, it’s about 9:45PM on a Thursday and I’m craving some cheap Mexican Food. I see the Sign«Taco Mex» at a Strip mall in Burtonsville, and it is also next to a 7 — 11. I’m craving a Slurpee as well, so this is a perfect combination. I pop my head in Taco Mex, hear some Soda Stereo Blasting, and some one is Karoke-ing along to it. Three sexy latinas are working the bar, and a few more sexy latinas are AT the bar, which is a very pleasant surprise on such a random Thursday night. i look threw the Menu, and order the«Meat Tacos»(Ground Beef, soft flour tortilla, in Espanol) As white and nerdy as I look, I got the feeling that they would have been fine taking my order in English, but something about the place just makes you feel that ordering in Spanish is the way to go here. The place makes you think you have magically transported to Latin America by walking in the door. It’s pretty cool. So after ordering, I stroll over to 7 — 11(Even though I was tempted to stay and admire the eye candy), i order my slurpee, walk back, and my tacos are ready to go ! The Karaōke is still going strong, now having shifted from Latin Rock to Latin folk /Love Ballads. The preparation of my whole meal took about somewhere b/w 5&7 minutes total, & cost somewhere b/w 6&8 bux, i can’t remember exactly. But when I got home to eat, the tacos were pretty good & the Rice and Black Beans side was fantastic ! I just wish the side portion was a little bigger b/c it was so yummy. After eating the tacos though I was sufficiently full. Under those circumstances, On a hot summer night when I needed a Slurpee, for a lonely single guy that loves beautiful latin girls and also loves eating tacos, this places was just what the Doctor ordered.

Ok, so are you familiar with what a bailerina is? Bailerina translates literally to dancer, but in this case we are talking about a trend that grew out of migrant men needing some attention from the more beautiful gender. Basically, it’s a business that serves food and drink from scantily clad non-English speaking Latina immigrant women. They basically flirt with you in their booty shorts and sit and chat with you. It has been compared to essentially renting a girlfriend. You also have to pay if you would like to dance with them, and certain dances cost more than others. A scandolous reggaeton number is gonna cost you more than a salsa. Taco-mex is along the lines of this. While not a true bailerina spot(where women customers are simply not allowed), it does obviously cater to a male clientele. I felt a little uncomfortable when I went there with a group of guys and was the only female. There was a young lady in her sexy Mexico jersey kind of all over this one dude, and I assumed it was his girlfriend, that is until she went behind the bar and poured a drink. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no prude, and the outfits really weren’t that bad(I’ve seen much worse), but I kind of like to know what I’m getting myself into. The pupusas weren’t bad, and neither was the horchata. You should also prepare to be surrounded by some very drunk individuals, even if it’s a relatively innocent time of day.

Service was horrible, mostly because the waitress speaks no english and didn’t let on, so when I canceled my original order and replaced it, she brought out both. I was annoyed that the food took such a long time(we were the _only_patrons), and that we were served three entrees and an appetizer for two people without a second glance. We didn’t touch the third entrée. But we were still charged for it all. Meh.

OK, if you like to poke your head into an ethnic eatery where English is a distant second language, you’ll adore this place. If on the other hand you want Tex-Mex with a generous dose of Americanization, forget Taco Mex. In spite of the tacky name, this place makes me really glad that I live only a mile away. Every dish I have had there has been delicious– and this coming from a guy who grew up in Latin America. Yes, they have the requisite Nachos Supremos, but try them with just chicken(marinated to the yummy degree) and it’s a delish meal for two. As opposed to the OMG boring ‘Chapala’ a few miles north, this place has authentic Mexican /Slavadoran flavor. Their salsa is bursting with fresh cilantro, and their«salsa picante de la casa» is the exclamation point on a great authentic south-of-the-border meal for those who like it hot, but remember that you have to ask for it specifically. The wait staff of buxom latinas could use some lessons in service(they’re always more interested in flirting with the abundance of latino locals), though a couple of them are genuinely friendly and engaging. Try the seafood stew– um… wow. All for very reasonable prices, and you’ll understand why I’m a regular.
