One of the better spots to see a show around the DC Area. They have a decent lineup of bands and artists that perform here on the regular and its pretty cool to see them in a fairly small intimate venue like this. The venue itself is in a conveinient location and isn’t far from the Silver Spring metro stop. My only complaints is that they pat you down TSA style before you enter the venue and that the drinks are kinda pricey. If you want to get right up front to get a good vantage point be sure to get here well before doors open. For some of the more popular performers lines can be lined up around the block.

Fillmore Flashback 80’s vs 90’s did not disappoint! My 1st time here in all of my leaving and coming back to the DMV& it was a very cool & fun experience. I’ve been making mental notes for years for shows I wanted to attend, my effort now will not be in vain anymore LOL. Hence, my free tickets secured my attendance. As much as I’m a Metro Guru, a quick Über was sufficed on the way down & within 10 minutes we were here. I was surprised to see the many spaces available in addition to the parking garages in close proximity… duly noted. No line for Will Call, & the quick yet thorough security screen was a breeze. Once we got it, it was definitely a positive intent of psychedelic of décor & lights. We gave ourselves a mini tour to get familiarized with the venue before we settled on standing in front of the sound area on the main floor. STANDING seems to be the eponymous of the Fillmore, until some of my inquiries schooled me on the VIP& Premium seating aspects. On the 2nd floor. $ 10 can get you inside the invisible mini roped off sections, $ 20 will get you a bistro table seating & $ 30 will get you the up front tables. The side VIP sections offers seats at $ 10 a pop… or, you can stand for free behind the seats against the rails. As a newbie, I took my notes for my next visit as I am mad at myself that I have been sleeping on the heart of this SS and community venue for so long. Although no partaking of libations occurred, yet the prices were VERY reasonable… of course another note especially made. As a Biz fan for his DJ’ing & crowd interaction skills, he did his thing. The musical sets were cover bands that were jamming on stage. The range of the genre of songs & the bad boys on the drums, made the performances even better. As far as employee interaction, each person I encountered was very helpful & friendly for the atmosphere of constant & loud. Again, for a compacted venue in downtown SS, you really can’t ask for a better time of live concerts & such. I even signed up for the Newsletter & already made my plans to see T.I. & Chrisette Michelle… baby steps, we all are work in progress for good times!

Great venue. Great Drinks. Mediocre Food. I had a GREATTIME at the Jazmine Sullivan concert. I mean AMAZING. So, this rating maybe moreso in favor of the artist than the venue. A good thing about the venue is that the entry was swift & organized. The doors opened at 7 and I was inside by 7:10. There was a long line. Suggestions … 1. Better food(everything was so greasy), 2. Do sound checks BEFORE the show starts, 3. Rethink the switching of equipment during sets(maybe have pulleys or keep equipment on rollers). General admission patrons are standing and it feels like FOREVER!!! 4. Get better lighting. It’s a smidgen too dark. Other than that!!! Keep up the good work with these artists! Loving the line up. Next for me… Bryson Tiller!!!

I’ve been to the Fillmore for a few concerts. Everything from folk rock to heavy metal. As a venue, it’s pretty nice. Tickets are affordable. My only complaints would be signage outside for the fast past lane. It’s never very clear what’s general admission and what’s fast pass. And if you are short and aren’t in the front the. You won’t see squat. Usually I don’t have any issues with Payton behavior but tonight there was a group next to me(of drunk middle aged women) who were constantly pushing, threatening to fight people and and trying to move the little chick(me). Security was no where to be seen after the first band. And I was ready to call for them. If my husband hadn’t been there I would have felt very unsafe. I’m really small and it was not a comfortable atmosphere. Maybe the venue can create a text line for people when those around them are getting out of hand and security isn’t near by.

Don’t do business with this place. They searched me like a TSA checkpoint and refused me entry because I had prescription antidepressants on me and heartburn medication. Oh yeah, and pencils too. Apparently mechanical pencils are contraband. The bouncer examined the dates on my meds and said he was going to throw them out(?) because of the discard by date on them being old, and he was acting as if he was a cop and Demanded my ID. I asked if they could hang on to them for me and give them back when I left since I just wanted to enjoy some music and not sell drugs but they wouldn’t do that. Only throw away. I came on a sportbike, so I couldn’t exactly go put my backpack in my car or anything. I asked the guy if I could get a refund and he said no. I took my stuff back and told them to screw themselves. The best part of my experience with Fillmore was that I did eventually get a refund for my tickets I had just bought at their box office 3 minutes beforehand. The bouncer was just trying to act tough, but the folks at the window refunded my card. 0/10, don’t support scummy businesses like this. Go to Baltimore soundstage instead.

This is specifically for the Fillmore Flashback 80s vs 90s Dance Party hosted by Biz Markie on Halloween Eve. I never had so much fun being remind how old I was. The cover bands Here’s To The Night and New Romance were pretty good and I will say they were more entertaining than the Biz. Don’t get me wrong Biz was good but just as you got into a song he flipped it to another song but it was all good. The Fillmore was nice and being the first time that I have been here it was very well managed. What I mean by that was that if you wanted a drink it was no problem getting one from the multiple bars. It did get crowded but the bartenders were on spot with their drinks and service was quick.

I don’t know how I haven’t reviewed The Fillmore yet, I can’t say enough great things about it! I go to concerts A LOT. Not every week, but many times per year, so needless to say I have pretty extensive experience with both large and small venues in the tri-state area. After years of attending these venues, I can say without a doubt that this one beats them all in the mid-size category. Whenever an artist I like announces a tour, I get stoked when I see they’ve chosen The Fillmore. One of the most important factors to me in concert venues is the parking situation. I get anxious when I can’t find parking or I have to find somewhere seedy to park and walk. The Fillmore has a parking garage extremely close to it that ALWAYS has parking available, and it’s FREE! This is the only mid-sized venue I’ve been to that I didn’t have to pay at least something for parking. The area itself is adorable, a nice little shopping hub that I feel safe walking through. The building itself is very appealing both inside and out; easy layout, lots of room and very clean. The staff is just exceptional, super organized and wonderfully friendly. That’s a big departure from many other area venues, where the staff tends to treat you like a nuisance. Whether I stand upstairs or downstairs, I can ALWAYS see the stage, so if I’m running late I don’t get stuck having to fight for a view. I’m SO happy that this venue is an option for artists coming to the area, and it’s perfectly between DC and Baltimore.

I came here last Friday(10⁄30) for the 80’s and 90’s dance party with Biz Markie. Thanks to my awesome community manager, Mike B, I was lucky enough to win two free tickets to the show and took my bf along. Neither of us had ever been to the Fillmore. There was a minor hiccup at the front door – I don’t know if my Unilocal pass didn’t register that I had two tickets because a lady(I assume works for the Fillmore) stopped us and apologized but then said never mind. It seemed as if she was about to deny us entry. I tried to get more info from her but she just said don’t worry about it and left – weird. Anyhoo, you upon entering, you can get a 21 and over wristband if you plan on drinking. Also, I think 99% of the crowd had on Halloween costumes(my bf and I were part of the 1% that didn’t wear costumes… whomp whomp). The first band up was«Here’s to the Night,» a Baltimore based cover band that mostly played music from the 90’s – anything from Smash Mouth to Snoop Dogg to the Spice Girls. They did a great job getting the crowd amped up. Biz Markie came out next and that’s when it got really crowded. The man is an absolute DJ genius. He definitely took us on the trip down memory lane. The next band was New Romance; they played most 80’s rock songs like ‘Hungry like the Wolf’ and ‘Don’t Stop Believing.’ Biz came back out to judge the costume contest to see who will get free tickets at the Fillmore for a year – congrats to Strawberry Shortcake, Macho Man and Peggy Bundy. My bf and I had a blast. The energy was great and everyone was just having a great time. A few tips: wear comfortable shoes if you’re going to stay on the main level which is standing room only – it is no fun when the dogs start barking Get there early – we got there early and were pretty close to the stage

This was my first visit to the Fillmore and I had a blast. Scored tickets to the 80’s vs 90’s dance party with Biz Markie and it was a full house with everyone singing along and jamming to the tunes. Many wore costumes since it was the night before Halloween and they held a best costume contest. You had to be there to see the guy dressed up as Randy«Macho Man» Savage and duck as he threw Slim Jim’s into the audience. Then there was«Peg Bundy» who sashayed away with free tickets for her awesome costume. The New Romance were pretty good and Biz had us all remembering when we had asymmetrical hair cuts and fat gold chains. The main floor is standing room(general admission) and there is an upper level for seating and bathrooms are located on the lower floor. Bartenders were available in the lobby and main floor and mixed some pretty good drinks. All the employees were in the zone with their interesting costumes. Sign up and see the calendar of events they offer. There is a parking garage within walking distance and after 7p you don’t have to pay the meter. Get there early if you’d like to be down front to see the performers up close. A diverse group of people and there were no scuffles to report. Can’t wait to go back and see other performers.

The Fillmore is fun on Friday! Well at least last night it was! shoutout to my amazing CM Gretchen for the tickets for me and my bestie! We took the trek to Silver Spring– easily about an hour from where I live. When we arrived there was a pretty short line for tickets, but once we got inside, the place was packed. Last night was an 80s and 90s party Halloween style– and the costumes were hilarious! I am glad we didn’t chicken out and wore costumes. It definitely was what 95% of the crowd and staff was wearing! We were on the main floor for about 10 minutes– but were very hungry. We went downstairs and found a table in the bar and lounge area. there is a full menu and a huge tv where you can view the performances upstairs. It quickly became crowded down there as other hungry people came searching for the bites. I ordered the chipotle chicken tenders and funnel fries– because I always want dessert. My bestie ordered the loaded fries, and was kind enough to share them with me! oh they were just what loaded fries should be and they do not skip on the toppings! The tenders were very good, defined chipotle kick and served on a bed of lettuce with the standard celery and carrots. The funnel fries of course were sweet, and a great ending after the kick of the tenders. Now on to the entertainment! Biz Markie had us all excited during his set while he challenged us with«I know y’all remember this one…» Then proceeded to play a crowd favorite song from the 80s and 90s. Fun! However the star of the show was the group/cover band The New Romance! They were so incredible! Every song had all of us screaming our favorite 80s tunes and you should have been there for their rendition of Pour Some Sugar on Me, Always Something There to Remind Me, I can feel it(don’t know if that’s the title) and of course Don’t Stop! We literally were dancing and screaming the lyrics. Everyone was having a blast! A great way to spend Friday and I think I may have burned some of those high food calories dancing and jumping lol. I’d love to return for another good time!

Scored two free Unilocal tickets to Biz Markie’s 80’s Dance Party and it was a blast here at The Fillmore. Getting here was a cinch… we took 95 south to 495 towards Silver Spring to exit 30 Colesville Rd(which, by the way, is Rt. 29 that goes straight through Columbia). There are plenty of parking garages in the area that are a less than 5 minute walk to the venue. The venue is structured like House of Blues and Soundstage in Baltimore, standing room on the main floor in front of the stage. You can go up another level and stand in an area above the stage or you can upgrade to general admission seating on the second level for an additional $ 10 or upgrade to a table and chair seating on the second level starting at $ 35. When you enter, you present your ticket at the door and it is scanned. Upon entering, if you wish to drink, you present your ID and if legally allowed, receive a wristband that is placed on you by security that will allow you to purchase alcoholic beverages. Also in this front area there is a food counter to purchase items and drinks. Speaking of levels, there are three: 1st level– main stage and standing only with a bar, 2nd– VIP seating area, gen admission seating, standing room and bar, 3rd– restroom. The sound system was good and if you weren’t able to see what was on stage, there were TV monitors on the second level. We danced and sang along until our dogs started barking signaling it was time for us to leave. We had a blast, but word to the wise: ladies if you plan on coming here, wear comfortable shoes if you don’t want to splurge on upgraded seating.

IN A NUTSHELL: A so and so choice for standing room concert goings. It is intimate and has a big crowd/small space energy but I’d say it is lackluster. Here’s the 3 star review… What’s notable about the Fillmore is its location! Silver Spring is a great area– close to the metro which makes it easy to get to the venue and it’s near restaurants, coffee shops, etc. My friends and I wanted to have a chill night And didn’t know the opener, so we decided to go to the concert once the main artist started. Since the venue is standing room — this decision affected how close we were to the stage. If you want to have a spot close to the artist, get there early. It was crowded as any good general admission concert venue is, but we were able to move through the masses to a spot near the bar. Kind of similar to the 930 club, there are two bars on either side of the stage and two entrances leading to both sides. There is also a 2nd level with seating so I guess they paid more for their tickets. It was a rainy night so if you had umbrellas they had a place to put them by the entrance. At the end of the show they were left out on tables for people to grab on their way out. If your umbrella was on a table far away from the door you were exiting, there was no way to get to it. That meant having to go outside and then back inside to another door that a crowd was leaving out of… bad system. Either way it turned out my friend’s umbrella was stolen. If you want to drink they will stamp your hand before going in. The drinks from what I could tell were pretty expensive. If you want to save money, across the street though is a Tapas place that has happy hour. I had fun at the concert BUT the biggest venue bummer for me was the pillars. If you were stuck behind them you were completely blocked from the artist. Such an eyesore. Hence the 3 stars. Overall, I would say the Fillmore resembled the 930 club in many ways. It just has a way way better location in the heart of many food places and stores.

Went to see One Ok Rock here a week ago. It’s in downtown Silver Spring right by the metro station, which is very convenient. I drove in from DC nonetheless, and it wasn’t as difficult as I’d anticipated. It’s a good sized venue; not so small that I think it’s a fire hazard, but small enough that you can see all of the stage wherever you stand. The bar does take credit card!

So let’s talk about(Expensive) Brews &(Average) Grooves… Actually I’ll start with the actual venue first. The Fillmore seems like a nice venue for a concert or a live performance from an artist you like. There is a large area in front of the stage with bars bracketing the stage. I never made it downstairs but I checked out upstairs and they have bench style seating with another bar. The service from the bartenders was good and they were also pretty friendly. Brews & Grooves Summary My experience however with Brews & Grooves was disappointing. The short TLDR summary is that beers were expensive and the music was nothing special. If you want to spend about 50 – 60 bucks for a few beers and food then its the event for you. They were understaffed at all the craft brewery jockey boxes, so you had to wait maybe 10 – 15 minutes to even get a beer. You had two options, $ 15 for a wristband which gives you 5 tastings(about a 3oz pour) or $ 10 for a full pour from any of the craft breweries or you could get a full pour from bar on draft for $ 9. How do you go to a beer fest and the house is pouring beer cheaper than the breweries… money grab much??? I mean the Redskins cheerleaders were in the house so maybe management thought they should charge Fed Ex Field beer prices… FAIL. The food wasn’t much better and came in pretty small servings. The entertainment was far from premium so all in all I have no clue why there was a need for such a mark up. Even though my ticket was free for this event I wouldn’t come back again even with another free ticket. Fillmore might be a good music venue, I know a lot of people who have enjoyed shows there but Brews & Grooves is NOT a well run beer fest. There are much better festival options with a bigger selection of beers at much more friendly prices.

The Fillmore feels like the newer and suburbanized version of the 9:30 Club. This is good and bad. It’s good if you drive or take Metro — plenty of choices by bus, train, and parking lot. It’s good because there is not a lot of crazy urban stuff happening around here in Silver Spring. It’s good because it has that cozy feel of a small rock venue with respectable sound quality, simple layout of balcony and floor and well, getting somewhat close and personal with your favorite performers. It’s bad because it’s in the suburban Silver Spring area, so when you’re done with the music in the evening… your choices are limited for staying out in the area. Also, just saying… the crowd is different, very different. Not my fav… What really matters though is that you can see the performers from just about anywhere(if you’re short, go to the balcony) and feel the sound. Overall, to have a killer good time, just hold your ground, accept the crowd, and rock the f out to your favorite(s). Everyone is there for the same main reason: enjoying the show. Rock on. Good effort, Fillmore Silver Spring. I will be back if the performer is worthy.

The Fillmore is actually a pretty cool venue to watch live performances. I don’t do «standing room only»(too old for all that) venues anymore, but the Fillmore does have some VIP seating on the second level. Since the tickets I received were free, the homies and I stopped by to hear Biz Markie spin on the 1’s and 2’s. We actually had a really nice time at this event. It’s a very spacious venue that had plenty of helpful staff visible. I noticed a bar on each level and they are wheelchair accessible. When I go to places like this, I usually stay away from the bathrooms, but I had to make a pit stop and I was rather impressed by the bathroom. Ventilated, numerous amounts of stalls and clean! Nothing like going out and entering into a bathroom where you have to breath through your mouth and watch for puddles on the floor! This bathroom had none of the above. Even the crowd of people were really cool. Granted, I did see a woman with two little girls in the audience(looked to be 10 or 11) and I can’t see how that was appropriate for them to be there, but apparently they don’t have an age limit as to who can enter. The two cover bands that performed were really good, but after a while, it became a bit too much for our ears. Biz came on for one set and was supposed to come back, but one cover band was on, darn near an hour before Biz was set to come back. Enough was enough, so we ended up leaving. Nonetheless, this is a cool spot to take in some tunes, but if I ever come back to see someone else, I’ll make sure to pay a little extra for a seat. It’s worth it. S/N: Try to get there a little early to find street parking.

First time here. This was an Unilocal elite invite. An 80s &90s party with Biz Markie, the VIPs and Here’s to the Night. I absolutely loved it. My sister was my plus one. We got in free but paid to be in the $ 20per person vip area — smack in the upper middle area facing the stage. It was worth every penny to have a table and a comfortable stool. The event was standing room only. I’m positive that I would not have stayed form 8-after midnight if we hadn’t upgraded. The sound was excellent. The staff was great. Not sure why sodas are $ 4 and served in a red solo like cup — robbery. Security inside and out was great. Maybe because I’m a certain age – they didn’t phase me one bit. I’ll be back for sure and do the VIP area!

80’s &90’s Party with Biz Markie, the VIPs and Here’s to the Night 8:00 p.m. Friday — 3 People 1. Location: I appreciate that this place is quite conspicuous. You cannot miss it as the sign really makes you cognizant of the location. It is surrounded by cute little shops. The area is quite nice and well kept. 2. Activities: I received free tickets via Unilocal elite and am so grateful I had the opportunity to see Biz Markie in action. He was spinning to 80’s &90’s hits of all types of genre. You have reggae, soft rock, hard rock, 80’s &90’s rap, and so much more. He rapped a little bit and did a great job hyping the crowd. Of course, he played one of his top hits and told me, «YOUUU, You got what I need, but you said he’s just a friend. But you said he’s just a friend.» He played all of my favorites of 80’s and 90’s and mixed them so well together. The VIPs — wow! Flawless of a band. They were amazing and had a great synergy as a unit. They played 80’s music prior to Biz Markie’s appearance and gave the crowd a good flashback. They engaged the crowd and had so much energy on the stage, which transpired down to the crowd as well. The vocals were perfect and clear. I’m quite impressed. I do want to make a note that they played a lot of the biggest 80’s hits, but missed«Every Rose Has Its Thorn». Here’s to the Night — Another wonderful band synergy and amazing vocals. This band performed after Biz Markie as he takes his break with all of the best 90’s. The microphone volume started out sounding smaller than the guitarist’s volume, but it eventually was fixed and I fell in love with their voices. Moreover, I really appreciate that they played a wide range of 90’s, which included girl’s mixes as well and not just boy bands/boy vocals. You have a band full of men singing to Spice Girls and killing the vocals. How amazing can they get?! This band really told me what they want, what they really really want.(Spice Girls) 3. Service: Drinks: Bars everywhere. Have no fear that you will not be able to get a drink. There is a bar below the first floor that is located by the bathroom. Furthermore, there is a nice and classy lounge right next to it with a full service bar as well. The room is very spacious with comfortable seats for concert goers to take a break if needed. There are also two bars in the main room and it elongates almost to half the size of the room, with one on each side. Sound System: Fantastic! Speakers surrounded the venue from the front and back. Surround sounds at its best. You didn’t feel like the sound was concentrated heavily on only one side of the speaker(s). Food: We ordered fries and chicken tenders. I was impressed with the food packaging because it’s so conveniently placed in a box to be taken to the floor of the concert. The food was delicious as well. They have a full list of food menu, which is a genius idea, because people do want other foods besides nachos and hotdogs. 4. Costs: Free tickets via Unilocal Elite. The food was delicious and priced fairly. No price of the drinks from my end as we didn’t order any from the bar. 5. Overall experience: When Biz Markie blasted the speakers with«Phil Collins — In the Air Tonight» and I kept waiting for that part in the song where the drums were going crazy and he PLAYEDIT, that’s when I knew it was going to be a good night. Everything was spectacular. This was a huge party and it was flashback for so many people in the crowd. Amazing concert, venue, sound system, food, and drinks availability. Five stars for the Fillmore. Side Notes: You can upgrade to seats in the balcony. There are three layers for front center seating as the price starts at $ 20, to $ 30, and lastly to $ 40. As every increment increases, the closer you will be to the front of the balcony. $ 15 upgrade if you want to sit on the side and have a drink or two. You can take your date here as well as each table is dim lit with candles and a nice centerpiece. Also, this location is very well rounded with performers from different genre. I look forward to coming back when they have country music performers or more artists of my interests.

Went for D’Angelo performance. Stellar sound system, great seating options upstairs, clean, modern, updated. Expensive drinks and a decent menu of snack foods is where they get the revenue. Staff helpful but over eager to get people out; understood tho as they have curfews, LA does not. Looking forward to seeing another show, but with seats instead.

I had a great time last night at the 80’s prom with the New Romance. Omg That band can Really Party. So the event started at 9pm. We arrived when they opened the doors which was at 8pm. They have nearby parking garages which was free after 7pm so we were set there. There was no line when we arrived. That’s why we arrived early. The staff was super helpful and we asked for seating. You just had to make a 2 drink minimum purchase per person which i knew i didn’t have a problem with that. Hehe he so we both had the angry orchid apple cider with a shot of fireball. My first time having it with the fireball loved it! I never had such a cinnamon rush in my life. The waiter stayed on top of things even though he had a lot of people to wait on. There was someone taking pictures when we first arrived to post on Facebook. How cool is that. Can’t wait to see the photo. They had someone come around signing people up for there newsletter and upcoming events. As i said before the staff was super nice. They had the seating towards the back but you could still see everything. They also had a menu where they had drink specials and you could order little appetizers. We went for the spicy chicken tenders. It was good with a nice kick to it with some veggies. This event got really crowded around 9:30 it was packed jammed. Even though this was an 80’s prom there was still a lot of people dressed in regular attire I’m sure they was there for the New Romance band. They performed 80’s theme songs such as Jump. By Van Halen and Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. We jammed the night away. I can’t say I don’t blame them That group really turned it out. Overall fantastic event Loved seeing people dressed up in their 80’s outfits and we had a really great time.
