Worst money spent! It cost me 360 $ to have my hair foiled and«cut» so not a haircut it was a few snips then she told me she was done. Ok… So they fried my hair! I had been growing my hair out for 3 years and wanted it to be lighter and they flipping fried it!!! I ended up having to chop my hair off into a pixie cut and cried for days. I’ll never ever go back here I was completely heartbroken. Not only was it fried it was pee yellow and spotty. Not done right at all!

This place is still wonderful im sure, but for those of you that are writing me asking where Preston went… across the street from the mall! She works at Maxwell Salon! 360−698−0422

This location was able to get me in last minute when another stylist at another salon cancelled. I was paired with Cole and he’s become my stylist ever since. I adore him and he knows much better than I do what’s good for my hair. Each experience has been nothing but positive. The gals that work check in and check out are fantastic. Very sweet and attentive! You will not feel invisible here. A little pricey but you get what you pay for in most cases. It’s frustrating calling the central line and being booked at various locations. One of my appointment requests had me at a seattle location. Thankfully Cole was free and took me anyhow. Just beware when you call to make an appointment you may not be speaking to the actual Kitsap Mall location.

I went to Gene Juarez Salon in desperation. My former colourist for years at another salon retired and the new one they recommended caused my hair to turn lavender and break off. After 6 months now, my hair is growing out, is much stronger and colour is beautiful. My sincerest appreciation to Kat and Dee for their expertise, support and talents! You are worth every penny and more. XXOO

Recently, I took my daughter to have my daughter’s hair fixed after I had made the mistake of taking her to a cheap place to save a buck… The other place hacked her hair. It was right before school started and she was in tears. Preston and Megan took such good care of her and gave her back her smile(and mine). They did such an amazing job. I can never thank them enough!

I have had every single color hair in the book but after having dark brown hair for a good year or two I decided it was time to go back to blonde. Quite the process, I know. I thought it was impossible so I headed into Gene Jaurez and met with Dee. Dee gave me her honest opinion and we started with a full balayage. My hair was a golden blonde at the end of 2 hours and it felt amazing!!! It blended perfectly and looked completely natural. I came back about 3 weeks later to bring the balayage up further and again she did amazing, blended flawlessly and even a brighter blonde :-) About three days ago I decided to head to my moms friend(hairstylist) to get my hair done and she ended up botching my do :(I instantly booked an appt with Dee, let’s just say, the pictures speak for themselves. I WOULDRECOMMENDDEETOANYONE!!! She is amazing.

I found Preston from a review on Unilocal, and I am so thankful I did she is AWESOME!!! I’m African American with no relaxer and have yet to find anyone in Washington state that can do my hair, I’ve been here 5 yrs and I’ve been natural 2 ½yrs and I’ve been so frustrated with not being able to find a good stylist I was about to give up and go back to a relaxer but THANKFULLY I found Preston she is truly amazing and knows what’s she is doing! SHESLICKEDDOWNMYEDGES!!! AND added an anti humidity product so my hair won’t revert in the heat!!! she washed, blow dryed and flat ironed and cut my hair and made me fall in love with my hair all over again. I went into the salon ready to cut my hair off into a bob(my hair is down my back) and set up another appt to get a relaxer and only ended up taking about an inch and a half off and set up another appt to let her do a blow out again!!! I love this girl she is the bomb!!! THANKSPRESTON!!!

Cami Weaver is Amazing with scissors! A great ear and an eye for style make her the perfect stylist! She knows hair! This young lady has been working my hair for about 2 years and trust me when I say… I wouldn’t go anywhere else! Although the price for beauty is a bit excessive. .at this time I am willing to pay to keep this gem in my back pocket!

I had my hair cut my Chandra a few days ago and I am sooooo happy! She listened to what I said and knew what I was visualizing. I am very happy and she has gained a guest for life. I would recommend Chandra to all who go there!

Nicole was awesome, very informative and helpful with a beautiful cut! My daughter and I have also. had wonderful exoeriences with Preston and Dee … I highly recommend all 3 women! The customer service in front is a little hit and miss. I wish I could remember the young ladies name that has in the past, she has long blond hair and is always very sweet, helpful and really knows her stuff! Overall, Gene Juarez is a very pleasant, professional salon I would recommend. The only thing I have ever had an issue with is some of the customer service staff is not as friendly or informative and can be frustrating.

Once I went here and Briana dyed my hair dark brown after we discussed a light brown. We looked at pictures, we agreed on a shade, and then she dyed it super rich dark brown. I was very upset and her way of assuaging me was to tell me it would fade out. I didn’t go back for months. But here in Kitsap county, good salons are hard to come by. I had my hair botched three — yes, three — more times at Seaport Salon(I really should review that godforesaken place, too) so I returned to Gene Juarez to see if another stylist could color my hair. Dee stepped in. At first it was great. She did my hair about 7 times. Three visits ago, there was an issue. Some lines of demarcation. She professed not to see them. She was really defensive. I couldn’t do anything about it. I figured it was an anomaly. So I went back. Two visits ago. she didn’t quite cover all my grays around my face. But I didn’t notice until the next day at home. I didn’t have any time to go back in to get her to fix them. When you’re a mom with kids who have very full schedules, it’s hard to find time for yourself. So I let it go. Yesterday I returned and we’d discussed putting some purple streaks in my hair. We looked in the mirror. I showed her where I wanted them. She decided she knew better and put one of them elsewhere. And it bled. So instead of a peekaboo streak on the right side, I looked like someone threw a paint sponge at the back of my head. I was very upset. It looked woven through. It was not a streak. It was a blotch. And it was very visible. She got very defensive when I told her I didn’t like where it was placed. She never said«I’m sorry.» I told her I needed to hear an apology. She said, «I’m sorry there was a miscommunication.» Now, to me, that is not an apology. That is her blaming me for not communicating. We had sat down and I told her exactly where I wanted my streak on my head of my hair. It was clear. She did what she wanted. That’s not a miscommunication or a misunderstanding; that is the conceit of thinking you know better. She said she could remove it, but had other clients, so would get another colorist to remove it. A manager and colorist came to talk to me. They could *try* to remove it. It could take some time. So the new colorist tried. And failed. I asked if it was coming out. She said it was getting lighter. She sat me down to dry my hair in front of the mirror and I saw that the purple streak was now bright green and much more intense looking than it had been. She actually made it worse. I don’t know this girl’s name. I can’t tell you who to avoid, so I’ll just say to avoid the whole damn place. I will thank my lucky stars the day I move out of Kitsap county back to the east coast. This place is terrible. If you read through my reviews, you’ll see many bad ones. I’ve never experienced living in a place where the people are all content with«meh» and don’t have any idea that better things exist, and that they should provide quality service to their clients.

Kelsey did an awesome job fixing my hair. My old stylist moved away and before I found Kelsey I had a terrible experience at another salon that did not understand the difference between foils and balyage… so i came to kelsey a little splotchy and dated. She reaaly did an excellent job listening to what I wanted, asking lots of questions where I was sort of vague and in the actual execution of the process. No weird spots everything exactly the way I want it, even putting a second color on when I told her I wanted it a tad bit darker. All the while being very pleasant and charming. I am happy to have found her.

This review is based on my 2 experiences summer 2013: I hadn’t had my hair colored for awhile(normally stick with blonde highlights) and wanted to do something different and I’ve been salon hopping trying to find somewhere I love. I figured I would give Gene Juarez a try because it seems so fancy and therefore must be the best in the business right? Eh, not my experience. I was expecting superior customer service but the girls at the counter were a little snobby and took their time checking me in. I was shown to a room and given a robe, that part was nice. The colorist, Chloe, can back to get me and we reviewed what I wanted. I wanted«Rhianna red» hair but she kind of talked me out of that because I guess I don’t look edgy enough to pull it off? Somehow we started talking purple(violet shade) and then she told me that if I wanted that color I’d have to come back later in the day for a longer appointment. Ok fine, I re-scheduled for that afternoon and went back in. She had everything ready and my hair turned out AMAZING. I left so happy. She warned me it’d probably only last a few weeks and I’d probably want to make an appointment for touch up in 6 weeks. I waited 2 days to wash my hair to let the color settle in and then used the shampoo I had purchased from Gene Juarez. Some color washed out, the next day more color, by the end of the week it didn’t look like I had anything done to my hair! I called the salon and talked to a few different managers. One told me I could come in and get my hair fixed for free, thank goddness! They already had $ 250+ from me for JUST the color and shampoo, I didn’t get a cut. They scheduled me with another colorist(don’t remember her name) and she told me I might get the same result with the Pravana color so I opted to go for blonde highlights instead. She acted kind of annoyed with me like I was picky for not accepting my last coloring job but I didn’t empty my pockets for my hair to look almost exactly the same as when I went in. The color turned out good but I just don’t feel like the experience justifies the price. They tried to charge me upon leaving and I had to call the manager over and explain everything all over again. I left, won’t ever be back. Much better experience for half the price at Maxwell Salon this past weekend, I think I found a new favorite salon!

When I went into the salon today, I felt like Cinderella at the beginning of the movie, and by the time I was done, I felt like Cinderella at the end of the movie. I told the girls exactly what I was looking for and showed them a picture and they absolutely nailed it! My colorist was Chloe, and for those of you who have not had good experiences in the past, if would be willing to give this salon a second chance, I would highly recommend going in to see Chloe! I had Kylee as my designer and Kimberly did my makeup. I was visiting this salon while in town on vacation from my home in Montana where we have 9 months of very cold winters and then 3 months of very hot summers. These elements extremely damage my hair, and I was treated today to getting my damaged hair fixed and I could not be happier with the results. My hair when I got to the salon, was weather damaged, and would break off because it was so dry, and now it is soft, shiny, and healthy. I am hopefully going to be coming back to town during the holidays, and am hoping to be able to be pampered by the girls there again!

I was satisfied with my haircut I received a couple months ago. I went back to get a full foil. I have really dark roots. I asked Cheryl colorist to please really brighten it up. This did not happen. By the time she was done my hair looked like i still had roots. Everyone that sees my hair says it just looked like she foiled it with color and not bleach. This is not what i asked for. If you’re paying that much money for a service u should get what you ask for. Not to mention since i normally don’t get full foils my hair should‘very been a lot more blonde when all was finished. The colorist was very nice and polite. She just didn’t do what I asked.

I have had two botched coloring jobs at this salon. Melissa, however, did a great job on the cut. The first was entirely the wrong color by Megan. Dark blonde/light brown rather than strawberry blonde and they tried to charge me for the correction, which was just a glaze. The second was by Kathy and turned out entirely two different colors — with the roots dark red and the rest barely colored at all. She heat-processed the roots and not the rest of the hair. They charged me double — the first time was 20% off because of the first incorrect color and then the correction was 20% off full price. The supervisor authorized the correction when I made the appointment by phone. When I arrived, I had three talks with the person who charges the money and told her that I told Kathy that it was messed up the day she colored my hair — before I left the salon. I normally wait 5 to 6 weeks between hair dyeing. They tried to say it was a problem with fading because I waited two weeks to have my hair dyed once again. I wanted to wait because I want to have hair left on my head after coloring. When Kathy dyed my hair the first and second time, she had me sign a paper that mentioned the fading of red hair color and the condition of my hair. The second time it said«Color Correction» at the top. When I said I couldn’t afford to pay again and started to leave, the person went back and talked to Kathy. When she came back, she said, «We’ll take care of you today.» I believed that I wasn’t going to be charged at that point. She then charged me(in front of about 4 – 5 of her workers that were gathered at the desk) when I was on my way out after the color correction. I realize red doesn’t last as long as others colors, but there is no excuse for messing up the roots. I don’t agree that I had to pay a $ 92 tip for a botched coloring job. In addition, it is now neon red rather than strawberry blonde. I selected strawberry blonde from a picture in an In Style or Newport News magazine featuring brides at the shop that I showed Kathy before the coloring.

I wanted to post an update to my review on Gene Juarez at the Silverdale Mall. Very soon after I posted my review they contacted me via email and asked me to call the salon. I did and they offered me a refund of $ 17.

I came in for highlights and they did an all-over color that was splotchy, green, and hideous. The manager blamed my naturally blonde hair, saying it was too long and hard to color. AREYOUSERIOUS? Then, as a further insult, they would correct it then and there because, «The salon is closing for the night.» I had to go to work the next day in a hat to hide my hair. When I came back, they«fixed» my hair. It took a total of six dye jobs to «fix». In the end, it was splotchy black and red. All my friends had a hard time recognizing me at a distance because my hair went from long blonde and healthy, to frayed, frizzy, and indescribably horrendous. The manager of the salon made me pay FULLPRICE for this terrible experience.

I have been going to this gene Juarez since it opened. Megan is an amazing colorist and my color is always exactly what I want. The gals that cut mt hair have been great, but two have left to have babies and I think that is fantastic. I always ask for a recommendation for someone new. The new gal was very nice, but did not hear me today. My hair was shoulder length and grows slowly. I said I was going to San Francisco and wanted a little more sophisticated look. I just wanted it to be more of a V, shorter in the back. Well, I now have a very boring classic bob that comes directly to my chin, which is about the worst thing you can wear for someone over fifty. I did not want it shortened 2 – 3 inches as I have been trying to grow it out for the last two years, and enjoy braiding my hair and etc. She set me back two years in the process of growing out my hair. She compted my haircut; but at my age and lifestyle I would rather have someone that actually listened to me. I have not been upset about a haircut in over ten years. I am beginning to wonder if you are older if you need to find someone in your own generation that realizes you want to be chic and actually knows you can be chic or sophisticated right up until you die! I love my colorist, but getting a bad compted haircut has made me wonder if I want to go back?
