I ordered a graduation cake for my son from Garcia’s bakery and was very pleased. I had originally went to Skiff’s on a Thursday morning, but found out that was late in the game to try to order a cake during graduation week. I understood and immediately went on the Unilocal app and found Garcia’s bakery. I went there and asked if I could order a cake for Saturday and the lady from the bakery(it is both a mini convenience store and bakery) came and was very friendly and said no problem they could have the cake ready by Saturday afternoon. I paid for the cake($ 35 for a quarter sheet) and was on my way. I picked up the cake at the scheduled time with no problems. We ordered a white cake with white frosting and fresh strawberry in the middle. The cake may not have been as ‘pretty’ as the Skiff’s cakes but it tasted just as good. While I picked up the graduation cake, they had individual serving sizes for the tres leche cakes so I got one for my daughter and she raved about it. Her birthday is this weekend so I will be ordering one of the ‘three milks’ cakes from Garcia’s for her birthday.

If there was a way to give negative stars i would. I ordered a birthday cake a week ago. The man I ordered from assured me they could do a photo cake and that they could download the image. NOPE Not only could they not figure that out, but when i finally came back to the store they tried to give me an image that was half pink because they ran out if ink. The girl, Monica, basically told me to take it or leave it. She«already spent too much time on it» so she couldn’t fix it. Now on the day of my 2 year old’s party, i need to dind another cake. Worst bakery ever!

I called this bakery after reading the reviews for their birthday cakes. I really like to support local businesses so I wanted to give them a shot. I can definitely see what other reviewers mean about a communication difficulty. Judging by the initial call I made, my bet is that most of the employees here only speak Spanish or very limited English. I would suggest going in person so you can try to communicate better vs talking over the phone. They have many pictures of cakes they’ve made in the past as well as those licensed cake design pages. Their prices and designs compete with both grocery store bakeries as well as other privately owned shops. With that in mind, I placed an order for a simple ¼ sheet, character vanilla cake with a mixed strawberries and cream filling. I thought there would be a surcharge for the added second filling, but the woman said the price is set no matter if you choose one or many fillings for one cake. I will update my review regarding the finished product after my daughter’s birthday party.

Outstanding Tamales. Sweet as sugar employees. They aren’t ignoring you, they are humble and respectful and working hard and: They may not understand you, so ask again slowly. Every country on earth is bilingual so get over it. Terrific food.

I can’t stop eating their tamales. I. can’t.stop. The masa is my favorite part and it is so soft and moist here. I’ll come by and get a couple of tamales on my lunch break, I work close by. I can’t control myself and I buy some pan too. I especially like bolillos. When I was little my dad would buy huge 3-tier cakes from here for my birthdays. I just had the tamales 20 minutes ago :0)

A friend of mine recommended this place so I decided to give it a try(I was very hungry). As I walk in the bakery the employee there totally ignored me, she didn’t say hello or anything. The tamales with cheese and jalapeño had no flavor and the cheese was hard and chewy(not of my liking) and the pork tamales were OK nothing to die about. So I give it one star because of the bad customer service and I like quality which this place doesn’t offer. Sorry I didn’t like your tamales.

The best pork tamales in Simi Valley by far. The pan dulce ni se diga. Yummy mm mm good. Come on in and support your local Mexican panaderia. You might just see someone you know here. Keep up the good work guys.

The stars are for the cake itself, which was moist and tasty. However, as another reviewer stated, there are major communication issues with some employees. Our cake was just a simple drop in and pick one to take, nothing ordered prior, but when we tried to explain what we wanted, the sole woman employee brought out a cake pre-made to order for a children’s party(likely for someone to pick up) and offered to us. Explained that no that wasn’t what we wanted. Asked for chocolate, ended up being angel food. Even with our limited secondary language skills, it wasn’t enough. The bakery may want to get someone able to talk with customers at the storefront and phones.

Kind people! Really good breads and cookies and various treats. The tamales are really good as well. My favorite happens to be the cheese ones. Everytime we go here we always leave happy!

I was happy to find a family owned bakery that didn’t cost an arm and a leg in Simi. There aren’t too many bakeries here. And the most popular is Skiff bakery that is pricey and has sucky hours. I ordered my sons birthday cake and it was delish. The people that work here are very kind and pleasant and the owner is super cool. I ordered a yellow cake with chocolate frosting and it tasted homemade. Worth every penny and saves me a trip from going to Portos sometimes! ;)

This review is for their cakes and their service. Frankly, I’d give a 0 rating, except for the fact that the cakes were delicious. I walked in to the store to place a large cake order, and when I told them what I wanted I got a «deer in the headlights» look — flag #1. Eventually we talked and I picked a cake off of a Google image search for the colors I wanted. Not what I expected based on other cake ordering experiences, but I went with it. After I placed my order, I had to make some slight modifications and settle the delivery time. I tried calling several times, I sent an email to the address I was given when I placed my order, and… nothing. Calls weren’t returned, emails weren’t answered, and eventually I had to go into the store for something that could have easily been resolved without a face to face conversation — flag #2. The lady I spoke to understood the modifications and noted down everything. Now, let’s fast-forward to the day of the party. I called to change the delivery time to be earlier, and after several tries of getting my point across, we agreed on a new delivery time. The delivery was an hour and a half late and the cakes weren’t what I ordered. The cakes which were supposed to say«Happy Birthday» didn’t say that. Fortunately the delivery crew had extra icing so that was easily remedied. But overall, I wasn’t impressed by the fact that what I had ordered wasn’t what was presented. Furthermore, the cakes didn’t have the filling that I ordered. The positive things about this bakery are the fact that the cakes were delicious and the delivery crew was incredibly helpful with making enormous cakes fit into the fridge. However, the negatives of poor communication and poor execution of cake-making to order far outweigh the positives. I will not be returning for business and will strongly advise against using this bakery for cake-ordering needs.

I go here when I am in Simi Valley for tamales. They are very good, and the people are nice. The tamales are a little more expensive than Bakersfield, but the quality is much better.

Love the people who run this little Mexican bakery! This is obviously a labor of love for them. The pastries are SOGOOD, moist, flaky, great fillings, great variety. Oh and it’s CHEAP. Cheap as could be. You can get 10 pastries and not even spend $ 20, probably less. Also lots of drinks, frozen treats, other random stuff for sale… I come here with my dad all the time on the weekends and we «habla» with the staff, although yes, they do speak fluent English, lol. Gotta love this place! It’s a hole in the wall, mom ‘n’ pop gem!

Best asada torta I have ever had. Great salsa and tamales too! And it’s attached to a bakery where they make all kinds of treats.
