Today was my first time trying them out. I must say that I am very happy to know that I now have a place to enjoy my lunch or dinner from time to time! Everything was great and truly authentic! I would recommend to anyone who is looking for some really great indian food:-)!!

Great place! Owner is so friendly and accommodating. One night we went, they had run out of the vegetarian options, so he made us a special veggi meal on the spot. Apparently, they are going through a managerial transition, and it’s not open for another 2 weeks. I hope they don’t change too much!

This restaurant is very small but the food has large amounts of flavor and it’s very delicious. One of my favorite dishes to get here is the lamb tikka masala with rice. There isn’t very much seating in this place but it will do. Indian food to me is one of the best tasting types of food around the world. Indian spices really pack a punch but in the end it’s magical.

Food was okay. But the setting seemed a little off. It’s in an Indian market. There were no other customers eating there when I went at dinner time.

Not a big Indian food lover… but I love this place… Manish is great and that orange curry so good(I forgot what it’s called)…will continue to be my favorite Indian food place.

Had the Chicken Tiki Masala(#3) and it was amazing. Asked for extra spicy and it wasn’t spicy enough for me(I like it on fire) so the cook brought me this amazing spicy sauce to add to the food. It made the food super spicy and even more flavorful! Naan is great too. Totally recommend this place.

Came to this establishment for lunch. Orded the linch special chicken tikka masala and vindaloo. The curry and beans were good. Thumbs up for the naan. Crispy and flavorful. I enjoyed the market with the selection of English and Indian products. Next time we visit we will try the samosas.

So… I live right next door to this place and truly wish they were better since it would be so convenient to go here for lunch… IF they weren’t so expensive…$ 14 for butter chicken and one piece of garlic naan? Not sure how that adds up but I’ll just drive the extra 5 mins to Indian Hawali where I can eat all I want for half that price!

Great Indian place. The store is set up a bit odd where the restaurant is in the corner of an Indian grocery store owned by the same guy. The owner is extremely nice and helpful and the food is fantastic. I’d highly suggest it for anybody who is craving Indian food.

I try to avoid eating at Indian restaurants because I inevitably compare them to my mom’s insanely good cooking and they never even come close. I was visiting my parents recently and my mom served up a variety of things for dinner with the intention of clearing out her fridge. I remarked how great the chicken curry was and was surprised to find out it was actually from Upaush Masala. I think this restaurant opened up either when I was in college or after I moved to the east coast as I had never heard of it. I think it’s part grocery store and part restaurant although I’ve never really been there so I don’t know. Anyways, the take out I’ve tried has been excellent– almost on par with what my mom makes. My parents also get tea from here for parties and other events and they have great service. Although I can’t vouch for their service or atmosphere, I can definitely say that the food is great. By far the best I’ve had from a indian restaurant in Simi(very little competition to be fair) and some of the better food I’ve had anywhere.

Ordered the #3 lunch special(chicken tikka masala, rice, naan ect) and it was absolutely delicious! The owner was very nice and great with customer service. The price for a lunch special is more than fair! And you get a ton of naan bread with your order :) I highly recommend!

Came in again on a wednesday at 8:30. No one in here. Almost seemed closed. The owner, Manny, was in the back cleaning up. I called out Hello and was greeted by a very friendly man. He explained to me all about Indian cuisine, and cooked me up a great meal(even though it seemed as if the kitchen was shutdown for the evening). This place deserves more traffic, though I would recommend coming in before 8pm. I hope he’s able to stay in business!

great indian food!!! the owner is super nice. My boyfriend is indian, so I am very familiar and picky with good inian food. And I asked if they made gobi which is cauliflower. which wasnt on the menu. And the guy made it for me anyway!!! he said put his soul into it. And he sure did, was really authentic with amazing indian spices, and spicy the way i like it! Just as good as the one my boyfriend’s grandma makes. garlic naan is amazing! chicken tikka masala is pretty good. needs to be spicy. but i assume alot of people in simi valley cant take the heat. lol overall is pretttty good!!! i would def. come bak again.

UPDATE: I updated this review to four stars because the owner got back to me about my curry and most owners wouldn’t, I like seeing owners caring that much and loving their business. This is a cute little place to eat, the chicken curry tasted wonderful but I expected chicken to be coated in the curry sauce, what I got was a styrofoam container of curry sauce with like 7 chicken chunks thrown in. The flavor was on point but for $ 7 I expect more chicken.

I convinced my family to try this place since it’s local rather than having to drive all the way to the valley for decent Indian food. This was no easy task(especially being Indian) as we’re all very skeptical of Indian restaurants in Simi as most of them are just mediocre. I’m pleasantly surprised at the quality of food! We only tried the channa bhatura to-go and they were delicious. The channa tasted very authentic(almost as good as my mom’s homemade) although they were a little on the bland side as far as the spice factor but I’m assuming they’re just catering to the locals(most of whom are not Indian). I’ll ask for spicy next time. I liked how they included pickled carrots/cauliflower achar on the side and the channa were not overly salty like most take-out or even dine in Indian cuisine is. The owner was very friendly and the food was ready to pick up within 10 mins. The owner also mentioned they carry Soy Chicken Tikka Masala which is vegan friendly as they use coconut milk instead of cream. Looking forward to trying that next! This place is a solid 8 out of 10 based just on the food alone. I would recommend this place for a casual lunch or food to go. They offer a lot of indian snack/street style foods and their menu is HUGE!

My beau and I had the taste for something other than standard American cuisine so we decided to try some Indian in His Hood. This place is both a grocery store and diner… Reminiscent of my bodegas in NYC which is good but still not the most visually inviting from the outside. We decide to order their lunch special(chicken tikka special and a chicken curry special). I thought the curry was pretty tasty, and though my beau really liked his tikka I have to say I’ve had better; the cream was a bit off putting but I can’t put my hand on my issue. I will try it again to see if maybe the mixing of dishes was the cause. I have to say their customer service was impeccable! For that alone, we will be back. Hopefully my star rating will go up.

I came here for lunch with my lunch buddy. I had a good experience with Indian food and hoped to repeat it. Well, it wasn’t quite as good, but… not quite as horrible as prior Indian food experiences. My buddy and I walked into the store. It was kinda like a 7 – 11, but with curry air-fresheners hanging, and some neatly arranged patio furniture inside it. We walked to the back of the store, and stood at what appeared to be the ordering station. The guys back in the kitchen asked us to hold on, and they’d be out in a minute to take our orders. We hung out and looked around the place for a minute or two. A guy came out and explained his menu, and that he had some specials. He mentioned that he sold alot of his chicken Tikka. I decided to try that since it was his most popular item. My buddy went with the Vegan combo. The guy said to grab a drink, and have a seat. We would pay afterwards, and not at all if we didn’t like it. That’s a nice way to do it. My buddy went through the cooler and found a lime-beverage, I just stuck with water. A few minutes later, the guy came back from the kitchen with trays of food. There was a giant bread thing(Naan) and a separate tray on the tray with sections for the various foods. Two had orange stuff in it, one had rice in it, one had a pile of brown stuff, and one had what appeared to be soggy honey-smacks in milk. It was alot, and it wasn’t all that expensive. I began with the chicken. It was actually pretty good. I was glad I didn’t hate it right away. I did enjoy the orange stuff. It was actually my favorite part of the tray. After I had eaten the chicken, I moved onto the brown stuff. It was okay? I tried the carrot that was decorating the rice, it was pickled, and I didn’t enjoy it. I’m sure it was prepared well, it just didn’t agree with me. I took some of the orange stuff and mixed it with the rice, and ate some more of it that way. I then tried the soggy honey-smacks in milk. The ‘milk’ was thick and very dill flavored and I didn’t enjoy it. I finished with the bread and enjoyed that. I guess I enjoyed three fifths of my meal. As I was eating, some older women were shopping for their groceries. I kinda felt as if I was in their way. Also distracting, a TV blasted an Indian film behind me. I think it was an action film, as everybody was shouting and leaping and fighting. But, I had no clue what anybody was saying, so I tried to zone it out as best I could. After I finished my meal, my buddy and I paid and we left the place.
So, all in all, the food was cheap, large quantities, but just kinda«meh», and the eating inside a store was kinda annoying. 3 stars for food, –1 for the other distractions. I think if I’d had eaten outside, it’d had kept the third star. FYI:
