We were just in town staying for a wedding. Very lovely place and well decorated rooms. Nice sitting area and kitchen. The rocking chairs on the porches were wonderful. Really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast items as well as the breakfast served over at The Sherwood. Did not have paper thin walls like many older places. Only issue we had was that our ‘Cayuga’ room had issues with air conditioner. We spoke to other guests who didn’t have any issues but it seemed our A/C would cut off in the evening which made it a little stuffy and warm with the summer weather. Overall, wonderful place to stay!

Christmas Dickens weekend is enhanced by staying at a B&B with that old time quaint feel. the room was cozy and the history of the place added to the character. the short walk to town meant park once and enjoy the sights. We got a tour of the place and each room was nicer than the previous with clear attention to detail and comfort. Breakfast wasn’t exactly a gourmet experience but better than waiting in line at Denny’s. We had enough choices and cold orange juice to jump start out our morning. TIP: ask for a room with a jacuzzi. after a long day its a nice way to relax before climbing in bed. Wayne made the experience very relaxing and at home. Some other reviews must be by those hard-to-please or never-satisfied types based on the silly things they mentioned. If you are looking for problems you’ll always find them. B&B should be R&R. That’s what it was and means return trips are to be planned.

We would agree with Jack A’s review. We stayed at Arbor House recently. The rooms have recently been painted. Ours was spacious and well-furnished with a sofa and desk in addition to the four-poster bed. We did not need to use the gas fireplace, but it must be great three seasons of the four. The bathroom was also spacious and comfortably laid out. Breakfast, though not the most elegant we have ever had, was tasty and plentiful; and was a convenient way for all the guests to get together and talk, which they/we did even though all were strangers to each other. We would recommend Arbor House for its convenience, comfort, and warmth and plan to recommend it to friends.

I booked a four-day stay at the Inn because of it high ratings on Trip Advisor. I am convinced that the innkeeper entered most of those ratings now. We arrived at 3:00PM, and were greeted by an envelope that contained our keys and a typed note explaining that we were to make ourselves at home. Gee, when I have guests in my home, I greet them. The building in old and looks run down from the outside. The conditions of the room and dining area were clean and appointed with antiques. The breakfast was entirely disappointing. Despite sending an email two weeks in advance about dietary restrictions and allergies, the cook/housekeepers were at a total loss of what to prepare. Their culinary ranged began and finished with some type of cooked eggs. There were stale pastries left under a cake stand for the entire four days of our stay that went totally untouched because they were stale. There also did something that I have never seen before; they left three dishes of butter, loosely covered with saran wrap out on the counter all day long without any refrigeration. The butter was so rancid I feared for my life and eschewed any contact with anything cooked in it. Why in the world would you leave butter out of the refrigerator, unsealed after it has been served and used? They did however, refrigerator the maple syrup. I thought New York State had health laws but apparently, they don’t look at B&Bs. The room was very clean but there was no usable chair in the room. There was a caned rocker that was on the verge of collapse and a webbed chair that was so unstable, you could not use it. The condition of the bed was horrible. The mattress was so worn that it sloped on both sides. Pros: Off street parking Close to downtown and walking distance to the lake and restaurants Cons: Opposite a Tops market with constant noise Horrible Breakfast served late(after 9:00AM) Antiquated room furnishings with no comfortable place to sit Absentee Host No options for breakfast beyond something cooked with eggs and stale cereal and baked goods. I realize it was off-season and we were given a discount but for $ 110 a night, we would have been better off somewhere else.

The Arbor House Inn is no more than a ten minute walk from the town center of Skaneateles, New York, at the northern tip of Skaneateles Lake. It’s a welcoming and well kept B&B. Large and Victorian style, with well kept grounds, but not an imposing property. My room was clean and comfortable — two preeminent must-haves for any lodging establishment. Second thing I noticed about my room was its balanced study of lovely contrasts: the ornamental wash basin and pitcher located on the wooden desk offset the cool and modern Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The stressed and charred honey wooden floors and four-post bed were a nostalgic nod to bed and breakfasts of a bygone era, but the free wireless internet connection really stoked me. The breakfasts are lovingly made fresh every day by Wayne, the owner. One particular morning, he offered homemade blueberry cakes and cinnamon crumb, not to mention a savory sausage and feta cheese omelette. His sister owns a fruit stand, so the bowl of in-season peaches tinged the dining area with a sweet, ripe and juicy scent of summer. Depending on the season, prices fluctuate and my 3-night stay in August hardly broke the bank at $ 285. Skaneateles is a gorgeous, sleepy village by the lake and the Arbor House Inn reflects the warm and down-home hospitality this town exudes.
