This place is nothing special. Last time I ate here the burger was so greasy when I picked it up the patty flung right out. This place has a nice interior but the food is too expensive for what it’s worth.

Horrible place! High prices 17 $ for burger shake and fries. Kinda too much. Dirty. Found a men’s hair in fries, when asked the guy over the counter to replace it, he tried to fill my fries from same tray where the hair was sitting before. Disgusting and not tasty. Not recommended. Not coming back again for sure.

30 plus minutes to get chicken tenders, a sandwich and fries! We will never comeback here.

Our absolute favorite place for burgers. Real, grass-fed, humane certified beef with a great blend of house seasonings, generous cheese, and just the right amount of ketchup and mustard. Try the pretzel bun(I didn’t the first few times I went but when I finally did I found it to be a great match for the overall package). Fries are good, and with ranch and smoky seasoning(optional) they become pretty great. And to top it off, all-you-can-drink Oberweiss chocolate milk. Oberweiss dairy is right there too, but combining a TBJ meal and Oberweiss dessert can get pretty expensive if you’re looking for a fast-foody outing.

The first time we went, it was their grand opening. The service was horrible and our orders were completely wrong. We gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was just day 1. We never felt the urge to go back til we received a mailer flyer with coupons for a $ 1 off That Burger and $ 1 off That Chicken. We decided to give them another shot. It was a weekend during lunch and it was pretty empty. We knew we were going to use the coupons so the only decisions we needed to make were the toppings. There was no line so we took the time to ask the gentleman taking our order what petal sauce was, if pretzel bread was extra and what the special seasonings(smoked or something else that slips my mind) tasted like. He looked all annoyed and barely even looked us in the eyes when answering. It felt like he was saying«just decide already» in his head. It took a while to prepare our order, so good thing oberweis was there so we kept ourselves busy planning dessert. The burger and the chicken were fairly large, but the taste for both was eh. The burger was juicy but the smoked seasoning they added was not evenly distributed. For some bites, the taste was too strong that it kept making me cough to clear it out of my throat or take a gulp of my drink to get it down. The chicken breast was a decent cut but the breading was light and soggy and it overall lacked flavor even with the toppings. We immediately went home and dug into the 4 quarts of oberweis ice cream we bought there to lift up our sprints from a disappointment. It was not worth the price tag for us. We gave it another shot, but the second time wasn’t any better than the first even after a long time.

I personally love these burgers. I like the simple menu and the buy 1, get a 2nd free sandwich offer when you check in on Unilocal.I get a Jr or regular That Burger on a pretzel bun with bacon and toppings. I live further west and can’t find a burger so far that satisfies me like The Burger Joint’s. The fries are delicious and they offer a few different seasonings(smokey, Cajun or celery salt) that you can add to your burgers and fries to taste. You can also order your Oberweis with your burgers. I just wish I could order the burgers through drive thru. Drive thru is only for Oberweis(for now).

This place is delicious! A little pricey though… I had the single bacon cheese on a pretzel bun with grilled onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, Cajun seasoning and ranch! OMG did it ever hit the spot! I don’t eat alot of red meat but this is an every once in awhile treat! The fries are just the way I like them, not to fried and not too salty! The people were very nice, atmosphere was ok(there was no one else there)… It was only me and the people behind the register/grill. All in all great place to grab a juicy bacon & cheese! The only suggestion I have is to allow for drive thru orders please…

I have found a long black curly hair in between my burger wrapped in the meat I also had horrible service and I got a root beer float and the root beer was old and tasted like it was rotting in the jar and they were very rude and they were extremely expensive and not worth one penny don’t go there unless u want a Harry burger and old root beer float

So yummy! Really friendly service! Yes, there’s Epic Burger, Shake Shack and many others popping up, but That Burger has a lower price point(Jr. Burger is $ 5) and the fries are super good and the burger is yummy and maybe a bit too large for me. It’s quick, tasty and the staff has been super friendly every time I’ve been here(maybe 5 times, yes I need to start dieting). Being connected to Oberweiss isn’t a plus for me but it smells good. Just go.

Not really sure why the ratings are so low. Hands down our favorite burger joint, great food, free toppings, good fries, and reasonably priced. Plus its right next to Oberwise and a chess table. Clearly a win win. My go to spot for good burgers.

This place is AWESOME! That Burger Joint is in combination with Oberweis Ice Cream, AMAZINGCOMBINATION! The burgers here are simple and to the point, just really good burgers with no frills and nothing fancy, just a really good burger. Then you can go about 10 steps over and get ice cream or a shake at Oberweis. If you don’t want ice cream, they even have a chocolate milk machine with FREE refills. That Burger Joint is the place to go for a solid burger!

Geez, this place is a serious disappointment. I’m sure everyone who has driven on dempster at some point has seen this establishment next to oberweiss, but the outside décor is seriously misleading. There really is nothing to write home about, because for the price and quality it was seriously lacking any flavor an enjoyment. My burger tasted like a frozen defrosted patty with a overly healthy dose of salt. The fries were salvageable, but could not remove my disappointment. I ended up washing everything down with an Oberweiss shake to end the night on good terms. In my opinion, there are clearly better places in Evanston /Skokie for a good burger, and this did not satisfy me at all.

One of the best places here at skolkie, I really love the atmosphere here. They also got good ambiance and good service so this place really rocks. The chocolate shake was approved, totally made my day. Fries were also good, that makes this place even better.

The burgers were basic and ok, the fries could have been better. The best thing about this place is that it shares space with the Oberweis store — so dinner and dessert in one place.

One of my favorite burger places! Quality, fresh, grass fed beef, on a pretzel or regular bun with a nice variety of toppings! Besides the usual lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions, they offer jalapenos, grilled onions or mushrooms, etc., at no additional charge. Only bacon is $ 1 more if you like. Good housecut fries, too… although they could be a little crisper. I know people complain about the adjoining Oberweis Dairy having a drive thru while this place doesn’t, but I’m sure it’s because the burgers are made to order. And to me, they’re worth the wait. Their customer service is also excellent. Today was my husband’s first time trying That Burger Joynt and not only did he enjoy our meal, but we met a young lady named Brittney, who is a shift leader. She was pleasant, accommodating, and VERY nice, explaining things about the business to us. She understands what customer service is all about, and she truly made our visit. Great job and we will be back!

So far I’ve tried their burger and chicken sandwich. Good fries and generous portions. Fries were very tasty and not full of oil like other places nor double fried. I didn’t mind the slight wait time to order and get the meal, since the food and fries were freshly cooked. Regular burger is quite large. Pretzel bun always tasty. On par with Five Guys but not as good as In-N-Out Burger joint on the west coast. I will definitely go back for a burger fix.

I have had several bacon cheese burgers through this past month and I must say That Burger Joint hit the spot in terms of what I was looking for. I wanted comfort food on a chilly cold day. I wasn’t expecting perfection, or a formal burger presentation. What I got was a juicy, cheesy bacon burger with mayo, all stuffed perfectly in a pretzel bun. The fries were crispy enough on the outside, yet still rather soft. Condiments are free, so I dipped both my burger and fries in the ranch dressing. Sick, right? Haha, I was in heaven. My burger was way too expensive. Other reviews are right, they should not be charging $ 12 for a burger, drink, and fries. What are they thinking? I was also turned off by the fact that there was no drive-through for burgers, but the attached Oberweis has one? I think I have figured out why but I still think it is unacceptable. It must be due to the cook time on the burgers. The soda seemed to lack in carbonation; and the fries could have been a little crispier. All in all my burger had plenty of flavor and it filled me up. The manager approached me after and asked how I liked my meal. This scored major points with me. She’s awesome for that! I will be back in the future.

How far did I walk for this burger? 13.84 miles and 2k calories. Being older and gotten heavier I walk long so I can earn the calories for a burger. I lose 35lbs and get to eat my burgers. Ive posted the pic of my Samsung pedometer. That being said. The burger was great. Especially when you walked from East Rogers Park to West Skokie. What ruined it was the north shore priss. Not gonna put his name. But lets call him Gman. So I get to the counter and I say I want a double with bacon and cheese. He goes off on me and says what do you want on it. I say everything. But no mayo and no peppers. He points to the sign with side and says. Just tell me exactly what you want if you can read. So I look at him and read off everything but leave off mayo and peppers. He looks at me and says REAAAALLLY? Takes the rest of the order and I collapse on a bench… hungry as hell. My burger comes and it has mayo and jalepenos. What a douche. Im starving so I ate it. But the next time I burn off enough calories for a burger ill walk my fat ass somewhere else. Id rather walk 15miles and eat vegan than pit up with snotty north shore priss boys.

Early Dinner! Oh Skokie, I must admit that I have a Love-Hate Relationship with you, for it takes me 90 minutes each morning to commute to my place of employment, however, I have also found some of the best/coolest restaurants around in your Burb. And, one of those places is called That Burger Joint. And yes, okay. I was intrigued because I noticed that this place was attached to an Oberweiss Dairy Store and I thought I could do some multi-tasking, dinner and dessert all in one place! And, honestly have to say this place serves up one heck of a great burger, I think I paid $ 1.00 extra for Bacon to be added but all my other toppings came along for the ride, and what a ride it was. This burger was pretty close to perfection, juicy, not dry and just had such a great flavor/taste, pretty impressive! This is a no frills type of place, you order your burger at the counter, and they call you when it’s ready, don’t really need much more than that! And, okay, I had to have a Chocolate Shake so the nice people at the Oberweiss Counter provided me with that. even had a cookie and lots of whipped cream Ahhhh. I was lovin that! So, if you ever find yourself out in Skokie you really should stop in and check out that Burger Joint, You can have your Burger and Ice Cream too. I love Multi-tasking, and I loved that Burger Joint…
