If you’re looking for an OLDSCHOOL Barber shop experience this is it. Tony is fantastic and it’s always fun chatting with him. I hope he keeps going.

To give you an idea of what he’s about, it’s best that I describe the inside of the place first: There is a 3ft thick television, meaning it’s very old and is a giant big box. The cash register itself is like something from the 50’s or maybe 40’s, earlier than the Frank Sinatra days. There is a small cage of pet birds in the corner, like Tweety from Looney Tunes, which chirp a lot. There’s a large and very old map of the U.S. hanging showing the mountain ranges. So it’s very OLDSCHOOL and highly rustic, and of course he’s the only barber. So that’s what he’s about basically, he’s preserving the«Al Capone» type of sense. He himself appears like a character of that interesting time period, an italian that’s fed well with good manners. He’s a nice enough guy who doesn’t say much, but for his skill in hair cuttery; the customers were all very satisfied as long as you’re clear in the begining of what you want. A unique place, though perhaps to many others a little strange. I wish I got a look at his phone as I bet the speaker and reciever are separate, that would be cool to see. Of course, only cash no credit.

Okay, I needed a haircut and had gone to Creative Cuts on main street. Since creative cuts service both men and women, I had to wait in line for 2 female customers and only one staff member working on site with another female customer. I grew impatient because I had to go to work and had gone to the barber next door called«Tony’s Barber shop» which had no customers at the time. I WASIMPRESSED !!! I will tell you the guy KNOWSHOWTOCUTHAIR. HEIS A PROFESSIONAL and I WASSURPRISED. He cut my hair in perfect proportion. Not many people can cut hair like this guy. You don’t get haircuts like this from places like the Hair Cuttery or Bo Rics. Why did I never had gone to him in the past if he is so good? I felt the business façade didn’t reflect his professionalism as a barbar. The business façade was old, run-down looking next to a pizza joint that also service some mexican food. Anyways, the façade of barber shop really didn’t give me good impressions to walk into his business. He charges 15.00. THEPRICEISWORTHTHEVALUE! You will see a map of Siciliy on the wall in his shop along with singing parakeets. He was a nice guy and very hospitable. Furthermore, he was a good genuine Italian barber and you could see some of the old fotos from the 1950s in his shop of him working his craft as a barber. You WILLNOTFINDMANYOLDWORLDEUROPEANBARBERSLIKETHISGUY. PLEASEGOANDGET A HAIRCUTFROMHIM… way better than Bo Rics or HairCuttery. He will definitely make you look sharp and professional. Next week I got job interviews and Thanks Tony!

Tony’s is my favorite place for a haircut when I’m not near Sal’s in Roscoe Village. Tony is a fine gentleman and doesn’t chat your ear off. Although I think if my Italian were better, he probably would. He’ll even give you a hot shave should you ask for one. He isn’t real cheap, but I’m always willing to pay for a good haircut. For loyal customers, he will sometimes bring in a dish his wife made and send it home with you. The mostaccioli was superb!
