Baker’s Donuts

I love this place! I pick up donuts here on the way into work for my department. They are by far the favorite, and we’ve tried about a dozen different shops. The glazed are perfect, the chocolate glazed are even better, and there is a good variety of mixed donuts for my crazy diverse work group. :) And of course the donut holes are just as good… especially the filled!

I came here at nine in the morning on a Sunday looking for hot coffee and donuts, expecting a seven or eight dollar price tag. Boy was I wrong, as I arrived in the parking lot, I saw around ten people waiting in line, it was literally out of the door! Ten minutes until I had to come into work, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to get checked out in time. «No, this review has to be done.», I said to myself.
So, as I walked in, everyone was waiting for their orders and for the infamous glazed donuts which would take another five minutes to prepare. What’s all the hype about? So, I ordered ten jelly filled donut holes instead, and a small cup of coffee. To my surprise, the total only came out to around two dollars and seventy five cents. Probably the cheapest I’ve ever had in the past couple of years. However, Let’s see if they meet the quality aspect of donuts.
As I came into work carrying the donut holes and coffee, everyone asked if they could have one. Sharing is caring, let’s not forget that. So, as I spread them around, I took my first bite. Oh my goodness, they’re moist, fluffy, and only came out to $ 2.75?! Possibly the best donuts in Slidell, the donuts are made fresh every morning, and on top of that, they’re cheap.

I’m not a big donut eater. I live about 5 min away from this establishment so from time to time I pick up a few for the kids. The kids love donuts no matter where they get them. I’ve tried the glazed and old fashion donuts. They both were delicious, I refer the old fashion because it is not too sweet. Try their donuts out, you’ll like’em.

Since there is a dearth of donut places in Slidell (Not Just Donuts doesn’t count, they suck), imagine my surprise as to finding this little, out of the way, place.
We went last Sunday to try out their wares. Let’s just say IT’S WORTH THE TRIP! Wow, a dozen mixed cake donuts for around $ 7? You cannot beat that with a stick. Looking forward to getting another dozen tomorrow to nom on!
The downside: THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. CASH ONLY.
