Copperfield’s Bar & Grill

Copperfields offers a nice intimate restaurant and bar seating atmosphere location for enjoying your wings. The wings were crispy and juicy with the most meat to bone ratio we’ve seen so far. Flavor feels more marinated than just sloppily splattered sauce and will leave your lips tingling with that after-​flavor fire. Comes in both small (5) or large (10) wing plates. #

I’m not going to lie I’m pretty disappointed. I bought a groupon after hearing they have good food, which the food wasn’t bad. What was bad was the very obnoxiously loud band & service /​kitchen. I’m not quite sure what happened but we were told to sit anywhere, so we sat. And waited. And waited. After about 10 minutes without seeing a waitress I asked the bartender if I even had a waitress or if I order through the bar & she sent our waitress over.
She took out drink order (WITHOUT WRITING IT DOWN), I ordered a beer & water & my fiancé got a beer. She brought our 2 beers over & forgot my water (no biggie). So we ordered, I had wanted to try the lobster mac & cheese bites so we got that as an app & black & blue burger as my meal. After waiting a very long while later (although I’m pretty sure it was only us & 1 other table eating) she brought out our burgers. I asked if she forgot our apps & she said yes. The food was mediocre. I’m definitely glad I had a deal in order to go there because I would’ve been mad had I paid full price. In all we were there an hour and only order 2 beers & 2 burgers — that’s an awfully long time to wait for such simple things. Me & my fiancé will most likely not return.

I don’t typically frequent bars so it’s really hard for me to judge. However I will say the place was very clean. The waitstaff were pleasant, friendly and accommodating. The wings were very good. The nachos were dry and lacked flavor. The salads were fresh and the drinks were good. My daughter played at their open mic night and we had a good time. Lots of great talent. Will come again with a larger group! I gave it a 4 based on all things considered. I didn’t have a burger or meal so I’ll post again after I do.

There is something essentially wrong here. We tried this restaurant about a month or so ago on a Saturday night. There seemed to be some confusion with orders between servers and the kitchen. I ordered the fish tacos. When they came out they were cold. By the time I got the server, my husband was finished eating so I said to not reorder. Then she told us that the «chef» said they weren’t supposed to be hot!
So this past weekend my family went early afternoon. There were only a few people there. The bartender was the server. 3 ordered burgers, 1 — the flatbread pizza. Horrible experience. First the bartender and the chef were yelling back and forth to each other, swearing, making fun of people and insulting either the manager or the owner who was not present. The food arrived — all burned. The server was like — oh well — was once again swearing dropping the f bomb. And he wreaked of alcohol — as in drinking it himself. Didn’t want to send back the food since they were already complaining that they were going to screw food up for the large party coming in later because they didn’t want the hassle. It was surreal to say the least. We thought it was part of on of those punked shows!
Unfortunately this could be a nice place but the only thing we found good were the wine prices. But if the food and service is that bad — there is no way we would go back! Wondering if the owners know how bad this is!

Pretty Good
It took me a long time to finally visit. The closing of my local bar Tickers was a major blow for me, so it’s taking me a while to get over.
I hear bad things about this place but if your looking to go in and grab an order of buffalo wings and a couple of beers it’s really not too bad.
We’ve been a few times and the service is a bit slow but the food is pretty good and the beer is cold. We’re not going here to have a big sit down dinner, just an app and a beer and it’s ok. Tempering expectations.
Observation:
The wife and I have attempted to go by this spot on a Sunday after 8pm and the place usually seems likes it closing because it’s slow. So we usually choose another place.

Service was slow — took 15 mins to get two beers. 1 hr to get a cold burger and fries. Half the ingredients listed on the menu weren’t on the burger. Waitstaff nice but clearly inexperienced. Place is too small to have to wait long for anything. good thing I had a Groupon or I would have been pissed. Definitely not going back anytime soon.

Food was awesome, service was superb. Im absolutely coming back with a bigger group. The owner deserves my business :)

Overall my fiancé and I like Copperfields. They offer a good variety of burgers on their menu and also have live music playing often. We have had a fair amount of food off of the menu and it is usually good.
Tonight would have to be the exception… Upon first arriving we figured that we could grab a quick bite to eat after a late lunch for New Years but that surely wasn’t the case. The waitress who sat us was extremely pleasant and took our drink order promptly. After receiving our drinks, another waitress came over to ask if we were ready to order. We were there for roughly 3 minutes at that point and simply were not ready yet so we asked for a few minutes. We weren’t expecting to not see our waitress for another 15 minutes.
After placing our appetizer and entrees we waited for only roughly 10 minutes for our appetizer. Not too bad at all and the mozzarella triangles were very good. After finishing our appetizer, we waited and waited for our entrees to arrive. After what seemed like a half an hour, we received our meal and were asked if we needed anything else which we didn’t. I personally ordered the Midwest burger medium with no arugula and it arrived well done with arugula. My fiancé ordered the fish tacos which came out soggy and loaded with too much guacamole. The fish was also scattered with dark spots which did not seem right. We didn’t finish the entrees and didn’t ask for a to go box. I really hope the kitchen picks up their game next time. Copperfields has a great atmosphere but has a lot of competition around the area. I had to update my review accordingly

We got there at about 5:30 on a Saturday night. There was already a full crowd at the bar and about 5 tables filled in the restaurant part. We were seated and then we didn’t see our server again for a long time. She finally returned with a bowl of popcorn and then we didn’t see her again for another long period of time. She returned again and took our drink order. We had finished the bowl of popcorn and we still didn’t receive our drinks! When she finally brought my wine, she informed Abner that they were all out of Sam Adams! Early on a Saturday night and you’re out of Sam Adams? Are you kidding me? We both ended up getting glasses of Merlot. For $ 7, the glass was really filled up. Good deal there.
As an appetizer, we ordered the Rhode Island Calamari. We liked it, but it would have been better had it been brought to our table sooner. It was room temperature.
This is where it gets really, really bad.
I ordered the Tuscan Villa burger and Abner got the Happy Mother Burger. We waited and waited and waited. I saw people seated after us getting their food and paying for their checks. I saw people complaining at different tables about different things. I was getting nervous because the clock was ticking and we had a concert to get to at Twin River.
Finally, our server re-​appeared and we inquired about our burgers. We got some explanation about some confusion with the slips. The manager did come over and do some service recovery and did not charge us for our drinks. We still waited a bit more for our burgers, but by now, it was so late and we had to get to our concert before it started. When the burgers finally arrived, we asked for take out containers, a bag and the check, as we knew our server was one to take off and not come back for long periods of time.
The burger and fries were delicious, but we were so rushed that I really didn’t have time to truly enjoy it. The Manager did come over and apologize profusely.
Well, we really liked the food, but Copperfield’s needs to get it’s act together with their service, ordering to the kitchen, orders to the table, orders to the bar. We waited much too long for everything and nothing we ordered here tonight was at all complicated.

Excellent comfy local restaurant and bar.
We stopped by late night and were pleasantly surprised by the great food and friendly staff.
The burger was very juicy and full of flavor. Fries perfectly fried.
The clams were highly addictive. I couldn’t stop eating them even though I was beyond full.
Will definitely return on our next trip back to Smithfield. This is a rare gem not to be missed!

Nice atmosphere, attentive service, and great food. We love this place. Basically a burger and beer joint but done very well. Looking forward to return visits!

This little spot is big in flavor! Been quite a few times on different days & different/​odd times & it never disappoints. The subs are huge!
The chicken in the chicken parm sandwich was tender on the inside & crispy on the outside, with just enough tasty home made sauce. Fries nice & crispy too.
Good place for a quick bite on any afternoon, or a drink with friends with Friday night live music.

I had the Ruben burger which was very good. Cooked perfectly with just the right amount of toppings. The burger was thick and juicy. The most important part of a good burger is if the bun holds up as well.
The worst thing is having the bun fall apart before you’re done eating the burger.
I did go for lunch and there was only one person working the lunch crowd. I did have to wait a bit for my burger.
Looking forward to go back and try the other burgers.

Cashing in one of our last Christmas Gifts, we decided to use our Copperfields (
) gift card on a Saturday night. Knowing very little about the Bar or Restaurant we arrived to a small but cozy Bar and Grill. We had heard great reviews about the Burgers however when skimming the menu the other variety of options grabbed our attention. We ended up ordering chicken and no burgers.
The service was great, the food arrived promptly, and it was delicious!
I ordered a Butter Peppered Chicken– the description was vague and it was a specialty item of the night but it was well worth the chance I took when it arrived. Lightly battered chicken strips topped with a garlic butter sauce and a hefty amount of banana peppers sent this typical chicken finger dinner over the top.
Not only was this an amazing dish the night of ordering but it held up to be a wonderful lunch the next day. I look forward to returning and pray that this will find its way to the regular menu.
While this was an amazing choice the buffalo chicken sandwich also received a great review. Not too spicy but enough kick to make it a buffalo lovers choice. Lightly coated with buffalo sauce and a house made ranch made this buffalo lovers list.
They fries were controversial at our table. I found this to have a very undesirable flavor and an over whelming amount of salt. Tom found them to be perfectly flavored and a wonderful rendition of homemade fries
Looking forward to visiting Copperfields again in the future. The night of our visit there was live music, sadly I find Copperfields too small of a restaurant to host live music. The lack of space and inability to escape the loud music made the end of our visit less enjoyable — we originally intended to stay for dessert but the blaring music and tight space rushed us out of the restaurant much faster than normal.

This review is solely based on their burgers and service at the bar. The BEST burger I have had at a restaurant and amazing onion rings. Burger was so flavorful, hand pattied and cooked exactly how I ordered.
The burger menu was also great. They have many different creative combinations that all sounded delicious. I ended up going with the Dutch burger and I was very glad I did. Onion rings were amazing, and they pop their own free popcorn for snacking.
The bartender was a doll. She was fast, courteous and a pleasure to be around. They had many beers on tap and March madness on the tvs. Next time we are in Smithfield and craving a burger, we will definitely come here.

Copperfield’s is a nice little spot when looking for something very low key but with good food. Went on a Sunday afternoon, there was only a few people there when we arrived but more came in as we ate. We noticed the crowd was a bit older which wasn’t a bad thing for this particular outing but would have felt out of place if with a group of friends. The bartender was pulling double duty waiting on tables but she was very accommodating and happy.
I ordered a rueben burger which blended corned beef and ham in with the beef. It was topped with kraut and mustard on a brioche bun. It was an interesting idea and had good flavor. I enjoyed it very much but regretted not asking for thousand island rather than the mustard! The fries were good as well and for extra flavor I added the chili lime seasoning option which had a nice zing to it. My date had a burger as well, hers was a spicy variation which had a chipotle mayo which was awesome and she enjoyed her burger thoroughly as well.
To end we had the peanut butter and chocolate pie. I can’t tell you how fast this was devoured. Delicious. Just get it.
I was a little disappointed there wasn’t a larger beer list but they did have some decent options including dogfish head. They also didn’t have a current beer list but the bartender/​waitress supplied me with an old one and told me what was no longer in stock.
Outside appearance does not exactly draw you in and inside appearance didn’t do much to help that but the food definitely made the experience satisfying. Not that this was a huge deal but the particular booth I was in had a light that basically felt like it was hanging right over my shoulder rather than in the middle of the table. Not a big deal but I’d try to adjust that if I were them.
Overall a good experience and I would return. We found a nice half off deal on groupon (I’m not old, I just enjoy a good deal!) which made this a steal.

For some odd reason I had never been here before and it’s only ten minutes from me. I had read previous reviews and decided to form my own opinion. This is what I came up with. The place is very cozy but maybe too cozy. It’s small. My chair got bumped into quite a few times as we were sitting towards the middle. It was kind of annoying. They would be better off removing the tables in the middle so people could eat comfortably. The service was great. Our waitress kept us full of hot fresh popcorn which is great with the beers. Beers I found reasonably priced but run of the mill beers. For a place that has the words «beer bar»
In it Id expect more craft brews. I had a burger and it was delicious. Definetly used high quality beef and was not frozen. It was cooked as I specified. I got the «upgraded» fries which had truffle oil and Parmesan cheese and they were nothing short of epic. Awesome goodness. Id go just for the fries again. ! Burger was more expensive than many places I eat at but I think the quality is well worth it. I will go there again but would go there during the week when it’s not too busy and I can get a table off to the side that can’t be bumped into. Also if karaōke is your thing im told they have it every week.

They had a live band which was really good! Very low key place, ordered the fish tacos (they aren’t on the menu but i heard they had them if you ask). The tacos were good but didn’t have much in them. You get unlimited freshly popped popcorn which was great. Also ordered the Reese’s pie… unbelievable, so delicious! There is a limited beer selection, mainly your basic domestic brews. Overall place was good, I think having the band there really made for a good experience!
