I go here a lot in nice weather and sit out back under the umbrella. Good food, nice people. Little bit on the expensive side for breakfast/lunch, but not that much and it is always tasty.

I had a fantastic brunch at Javier’s this morning! I had a big, fluffy egg white omelet with turkey, tomatoes, onions, and no cheese per my request although there is cheese on it as written on the menu. My friend had sweet potato pancakes with blueberries and pecans topped with bananas in sauce. Holy, moly! That was amazing. Although I didn’t have it, I watched the neighboring table enjoy the lobster bisque and wax poetic about it. I’ll definitely try it next time. And there’s no question, there will definitely be a next time. Five stars for the food for sure. Several people mentioned service in other reviews so I thought I should address it too. I agree with previous reviews that service was inconsistent. However, I find that to be such a common problem on Long Island that I just dismiss it as par for the course. And honestly, if you compare the service at Javier’s to service at other places in the area, I’d say the service at Javier’s was at least four star caliber. Finally, I asked the waiter about the relationship to Maureen’s. It turns out the owner used to work there. That explains the similarity in the menu. That’s also where it ends. The menu here seems more creative and the food just tasted better. So given the option again for brunch, I’m heading back to Javier’s.

Honestly this place was pretty mediocre. The food was eh – you can probably get better food at the millennium diner down the road. Service was fine and we were seated right away. Overall, I don’t see myself returning here again, unless it’s for something small like coffee and a muffin.

I came here with a large group and felt it was a little stressful cause of the small size of the place, the waiting area is a narrow hallway and there is minimum space between tables. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, I got the blueberry banana pancakes and loved them. I tasted one of their specialty omelettes & steak ham, all really good. Everyone loved the home fries, they were crispy and seasoned well. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. The food was worth the wait but I think this place is most fitting for very small parties.

Nice small local restaurant for breakfast or lunch. Food portions are quite large and very tasty. Tried one of the specials which had roasted potatoes onions, scrambled eggs, cheddar and avocados it was very filling and good. My friend had French toast with strawberry and banana’s, she enjoyed her dish as well. Prices are reasonable and service was good.

The breakfasts are much better than the lunch offerings. The staff is pleasant and efficient. The restaurant itself is a bit noisy. The material on the ceiling causes enhanced echoing.

I love this place because they are very accommodating –and their home fries are to die for. First, I’d like to state that we have a food allergy in my family and it’s impossible for us to get French toast or pancakes when we go out because of it. With two young kids, this is a huge disappointment. They were so great here that they made our French toast sans the milk and it was still delicious. My boys always want to have breakfast there because of it. Can’t blame them.

Disclaimer: They do NOT take credit cards. You either pay with cash or a debit card. Food: 5STARS Service: 4STARS I recently went to Javier’s Café to enjoy a holiday breakfast with some colleagues. Javier’s Café is a cute and rather cozy café located in Smithtown. They have a ton of breakfast specials besides what they offer on their menu. I decided to get the skillet which comes with corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, cheddar and avocado. That’s However, I swapped the scrambled eggs for eggs over easy. Little did I know that also came with a side of toasted English muffins with butter. But that’s besides the point. When the food came out I was absolutely delighted with the presentation and even more so with the taste. It was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, service wasn’t all that great. For example, our waitress forgot who ordered what in terms of drinks. So much so that she left the drinks on one end of the table so that everyone could figure out who got what. I wasn’t a fan of that, overall, the service was speedy and okay. Will I go back? YES!

First off I don’t understand the need for everyone to be comparing the place to Maureen’s and giving reviews about there. So what? food is similar I want to know about this place, so thank you to the few souls who wrote strictly about Javier’s. Anyway… Food was good, I ordered two scrambled with home fries, toast and coffee. My husband ordered the special skillet with sausage home fries, avocado, cheese and coffee. He really liked his food I liked my food as well. The blueberry muffin was really good too(I normally don’t like them). Service was decent, the girl never offered refills on the coffee, she was a little cold to me specifically but whatever. We were sat quickly which was probably the best part, we went on a Sunday around 130 – 2. Price was a little high, but I’d return.

My go to breakfast place in Smithtown. Maureen’s kitchen is amazing but the wait there isn’t worth it when you can get just as good food with a 10 – 15 minute wait. Small place and a little cramped but also cozy! Our waiter was very nice and made sure our food came out right. Can’t wait to go back!

Love coming here for breakfast/brunch! Javier’s is a tiny place so be prepared to wait a little, usually 10 – 15 minutes. A lot less crowded than the sister restaurant, Maureen’s, especially during peak hours between 9−11am. The service here is great for such a busy restaurant. The food is always amazing and the specials are always changing. We had pumpkin blueberry pancakes with caramel and bananas which was fluffy and actually tasted like pumpkins! Also had one of their many omelet options with home fries and toast. The toast usually comes buttered but I asked for cream cheese and jelly when I ordered. The toast came out buttered and wouldn’t have made a difference to me but the waiter noticed it and brought out extra dry toast just for me. Really great service, amazing coffee and food, and a really cozy atmosphere.

Ordered the grilled chicken with sundried tomatoes and mozzarella cheese and peppers. It was good and so were the home fries. My boyfriend had the corn beef sandwich with the macaroni salad. I think he liked it. What I didn’t like was how overpriced it was. I believe it ended up to be 35 – 40 dollars for just two dishes which was really surprising.

A beautiful little breakfast place right in the center of Smithtown. Although you couldn’t tell it from the outside of the building as its pretty ubiquitous but open stepping in its like night and day. Handwritten special menus on the board and the décor makes this restaurant quite a little cozy brunch place. However I think the main attraction is the outdoor seating that unfortunately I did not see until we were leaving. If the weather permits definitely try the outside seating not only you get a pretty small garden to look at but its right next to the big parking lot too saves you from having walk around the block. The food is pretty well done I thought. We got the Croissant French toast and a plate of omelet. I thought the croissant was a pretty popular choice and quite a unique way of mixing the flakiness of the croissant breading with the sweet sauces of the fruit toppings. Although I did think they perhaps could reduce a bit of the rasberry sauce on top it was a bit more syrupy than I am used to. I ended up spreading the extra jam on toast instead :) The omelet was a quite good as well, I was pleasantly surprised how they mixed in the bacon bits in the egg I would thought they would just have the slices on the side or stuffed inside the omelet. One minor miff I had was that although the menu said the entrée comes with fries we got potatoes with our omelet, its a minor difference and I didn’t really think that’s worth sending the food back. Service was only adequate in my opinion they were mostly busy waiting on tables and getting the food out and didn’t have too much time to really check up on everyone. Considering this is only a Friday weekday around 11am, I would imagine on the weekends to be much more crowded and busier. I certainly do hope their staff are capable of handling the higher volume. So its a great place to come for the food and atmosphere but have to lower your expectation on a good service unfortunately :) For the prices we paid its a bit tad high than the usual diners and breakfast places I’ve visited but its definitely worth multiple visits. Oh one last note that they only take cash and debit cards and they ask you to pay by the register.

Went back to Javier’s this past Sunday(Smithtown Day). Since I get breakfast every time I go, I figured I’d try one of the lunch specials. As my girlfriend and I walked into the restaurant(from the back), all outdoor tables were taken. As we were seated by the hostess, we saw an open table for 2 in the front. When we asked the hostess if we could move to that table, she said«hold on one second»…she never came back. For lunch, I ordered a pastrami sandwich with coleslaw and russian dressing on toasted sourdough. The sandwich was delicious and had incredible texture. The french fries with the sandwich were also hot and crispy. Very similar to my last visit, the reason for my lackluster review is the service. It’s very hard to describe, but the waiters/waitresses look like they’re doing everything but attending to their tables. As I look around the restaurant, other people are also trying to track down their waiter/waitress. I’m not saying they have to be hovering over my table, but they definitely need to be more attentive. It’s a shame the service brings down my review because the food is great!

5 Star for food, 1 star for service. The sandwiches were great, I loved how they buttered the bread to give it more of a taste. The prices were very reasonable $ 10-$ 14 for breakfast or lunch. Finally a café on Smithtown’s Main street. However, I thought the service was pitiful. We were never asked how we were, our waters were never filled and our check was given to us right after we got our entrees. Table next to us was asked if they wanted it boxed up while there were still eating. I know there was a line, but we were there for less than an hour and still felt rushed. And for some reason, waiters do not take credit cards to complete the transaction, they have the customer do it like in a diner. Take reservations and fix the customer service issues, and I would be back in a heartbeat.

I’m sure if you are reading this you must’ve been to or got fed up with the wait at the better known Maureen’s Kitchen(MK). I recently read an article differentiating what is good versus hype; I will use the same analogy to describe Javier’s Café as good and MK(while still good) but has become more of a hype. A fellow foodie told us to skip the ever growing wait(along with the attitude and price) at MK and try her«protégé’s»(though I’m sure MK will use different words to describe him) less conspicuous place in town and we couldn’t be happier. Menu albeit small is innovative and the food is on par with some of LI’s best. Javier’s is not as «bling» but the place is also filled with your average locals than wanna be «hipsters» that you find at MK. The only negative is the staff are not as well trained: our waitress could try to smile once a while. :) Next time you find yourself facing a long wait at MK, you may want to try Javier’s that’s less than a 5 min away.
