I like this restaurant very much. We don’t go here often because it is a fair distance from where I live, but when we do, it is always a good experience. The service is very prompt and our server was quite pleasant. The atmosphere is very relaxed but not overly casual; a t-shirt and jeans will do just fine, but dressing up won’t get you any stares either. It’s not insanely pricey either; about $ 40 for three people. I definitely recommend the spicy tuna roll; if you’re looking for a roll with some kick to it, you will be pleasantly surprised. The chicken fried rice was also pretty good. I’m slightly disappointed that they no longer have bento boxes on the menu, as those were always nice, but yeah. Something to note though; if you intend to only eat sushi, I would recommend getting at least two orders of rolls. Depending on what you get, the portions are quite small and not really enough to feed an adult. To sum it up, this is a pretty great place.

Wow. I know I didn’t just see frozen Fish taken out the bag and put in the glass. LOL. Poor service but I just don’t tip. The chef was very attentive though so I give 2 stars tonight. I did gave him the Tip. You be the judge but I think my time is up for giving Kuroshio my money. The poor delivery and presentation again and Again. They fried my Hamachi Karma this particular night. I called them out on it and got 15% off. So, that’s it. No more.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet! This has been my go to sushi joint since moving to the area over 3 years ago(even through a name change)! Sometimes, I’m a creature of routine ordering the same dish each visit which is the ahi poke sashimi. Though not exactly like Hawaiian poke, it’s still delicious. But last night I decided to deviate. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. This time I tried the grilled sea bass dinner. So yummy!!! Grilled, tender, flaky sea bass filets over a bed of sautéed veggies, steamed rice, and sides of ponzu and aioli sauces. The meal also comes with salad and miso soup. Now I’m wondering what else I’ve been missing! Their menu has vast assortments of apps, soups, tempura, sushi rolls, sashimi patters, entrees, fried rice, kids meals, and desserts. I’ll have to see what to try the next time I’m there!

Tried to find the closest sushi restaurant that was open at 3pm and this was the winner. The place looked much more of a modern sushi spot with rnb music playing. I liked the vibe but I just knew the fish wasn’t going to be fresh from the looks of the place. Our server was great, very attentive and suggested some items to us. We ordered Drunken beef– I like the flavor but it was dry. I wish there was a dipping sauce for it. The seared beef slices layed on a bed of shredded thin carrots and cucumbers.(Shredded carrots is their thing here… just look at the pictures) Hip hop roll– the fish was bleh… The roll was bleh. not fresh as I had said. Teriyaki beef– the teriyaki sauce was good but the beef cuts were weird. It tasted like old meat or either a bad cut of beef. Chicken may be a better choice. It does come with a LOT of veggies, and carrots. Chicken egg rolls– these were good. The sweet and sour dipping sauce that they make specifically for them was delicious. They were fried perfectly golden brown. Tempura ice cream– the tempura batter was way too thick. All in all– if I were to come back I’d probably stick to the hot plates rather than the sushi.

I have visited Kuroshio twice in the past few months and both times had a good experience. The sushi is good and they have a lot options for those who do not want raw fish. However, there are a few minor issues that prevent Kuroshio from earning a full five stars. Let’s start with the positives for Kuroshio. The sushi is good and priced reasonably. I’m a huge fan of sushi, so I can immediately tell the good from the bad. Kuroshio definitely falls more into the«value» category of good sushi that is a step down in quality and taste from the best restaurants. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because it is priced reasonably, especially the non-specialty rolls. Nigiri are $ 1.50 each and basic rolls are around $ 3. The fish is fresh and flavorful. The combination of quality and value is reasonable. It’s not the best sushi you’ll eat, but it gets the job done for the price. Atlanta struggles to offer consistently good sushi restaurants, so Kuroshio definitely stands out in a weak crowd. The specialty rolls are okay, but would not stand out among better competition. Still, they are tasty and offer something for everyone. The menu is a little bit scattershot, but you can find something to enjoy. Prices range from about $ 8 to $ 15. Kuroshio also offers standard appetizers like edamame and meals like teriyaki chicken that are not fish-based. Service at Kuroshio is good, but they could improve somewhat. I’ve visited when the number of customers was low. However, the staff was a little slow with water and drinks. I don’t want to be too hard on them because they were pleasant each time. On our last visit, we were given a double-portion of California rolls even though we ordered just one. The waiter seemed confused and went and talked to the kitchen for a long time, and eventually said we could«just keep the rolls». Okay, were you going to take them off my plate or something? It’s not my fault someone messed up the order. Weird. Overall, this place is fine for some casual sushi. You can definitely take your friends who don’t like sushi, too. If you want the best quality and are willing to pay more, I would try a different restaurant. However, this is miles ahead of some of the other places in the area if you are wanting something fun, inexpensive, and relaxing.

My husband and I went to Kuroshio after running a few errands and wanted good sushi with a casual atmosphere and reasonable prices. So many good sushi restaurants are simply too stuffy. We wanted good food and beer and this place did the trick! We were seated quickly and the hostess was polite. Our waiter then promptly came over, I had my phone open and he mentioned that by checking in we could receive a free edamame appetizer. I always love when employees tell you about their deals rather than hiding them from customers. He also gave a few recommendations, which were incredible! We ordered, from his recommendation, the drunken tiger and it was one of the best rolls I have ever had. It had sour, sweet, savory, crunch, and was our favorite of the night. Tuesday night Blue moons are $ 2/pint and $ 7/pitcher!

What a great experience! Our waiters name was Johnathon Lee and he was such a personable being with great energy. That’s saying a lot due to the fact it was Christmas Eve.

They have good service, an a large menu with a wide variety of items, I have been there several times, tried different rolls and meals, they are very good, haven’t found something I don’t like yet. I recommend the drunken tiger roll or the chachacha if you like spicy food.

Next to Cocaine Nails– Oops, excuse me. Cocanails. Same difference. Is what used to be Blu, but now is Kuroshio Sushi. If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing the downfall of Zuma Sushi in Inman Park through my review updates, well, I was on the hunt for a new sushi restaurant. As always, you can count on me for being incredibly picky and pokey while searching for a place to spend my hard earned money on– So you don’t have to! Sunday evening we came in, and while it did take a while to be greeted and seated(no more than 3 minutes, which doesn’t sound like a long time, but it is quite awkward to stand at the door while people are bustling past you and you are looking around trying to catch somebody who isn’t busy) we finally sat. There are plenty of tv’s, they had the football game going and before we could blink, Scott the Server was kneeling at the table. Nope, they don’t have juice and no liquor served on the weekends. Yes, they know that’s weird. Apps were miso soup, fried pork gyoza and tuna tataki. I found the tuna tataki over cooked, that could just be my palette, but still tasty; the fried gyoza was delicious. Price-wise I find all these specialty rolls slightly overpriced. Nothing is special about an eel avocado roll with cream cheese in it, dear. No matter how delicious it may be. We had the volcano roll, double decker roll, blue moon roll, and California sunset roll. My favorites are the California sunset, with the volcano and blue moon tying for second. The fish is quite fresh and they don’t skimp on it, and they better not with their boasts of quality. Double decker was spicy tuna, made with siracha I believe and not spicy mayo, with a slice of tuna on top. It wasn’t a good fit, I wish there was some avocado in there to help out that awkward burn or maybe some asparagus or tempura flakes for crunch. Either way, the food is delicious. Scott the Server was very attentive and never left us wondering where he was when we needed something, the atmosphere is great for groups and casual dining, and there is liquor Monday through Friday. Only Beer, wine, and sake on the weekends. Our total was $ 80, much more than apps and 4 rolls at Zuma, but at least we didn’t find plastic and bones in our rolls. So it’s all good with me, I’ll be coming back. Hopefully this won’t be another downfall saga.

This place was decent, not horrible and not great! Half of my roll was burnt, I told the waiter and instead of comping my dish or correcting the order they gave me 7.00 off! See not horrible(do nothing) but not great(comp the meal).

Out of all the sushi places I’ve been to in the A, this place is the best bang-for-your-buck for lunch specials. They range from $ 7 to $ 14; they include the main roll along with A) miso soup & house salad OR B) 6 pieces of nigiri. In my opinion, it’s option B that makes those lunch deals worth; it’s basically getting two orders for the price of 1. I’ve had the spicy tuna roll lunch combo($ 10-$ 12; I don’t remember) & the spicy tuna handroll lunch combo($ 7). A handroll lunch combo only has 1 handroll in it, but they don’t skimp out on the meat inside. Also, the sushi rice has the right amount of vinegar in it to make sushi feel light and refreshing rather than a carb overload.

I. Love. Sushi. And Fried rice. And here at Kuroshio, they both are great! I have been here numerous times, its my go to sushi spot that’s close to work. They have a large menu with many different rolls, it actually can be overwhelming if you like a lot of different things. They also have the simple California and Tuna rolls. Every roll I have ordered has been a great size and fresh ingredients. Yummy! What’s cool is the unique names they give a lot of them, so if you want to keep track, write it down! They range in price from $ 8-$ 13 dollars for most and they come with multiple ingredients so its is definitely worth it. If you are like me and love fried rice you’ll probably want to order some to take home! Its a huge serving and its delicious! Full of ingredients and as well. They even have salmon fried rice which is a nice change to the normal shrimp or pork. They throw lots of vegetables in it and you can even ask for extra if that’s what you like. They have a full bar with drink specials on the weekend and beer and sake. Definitely a great place to go for food and drink.

My first time here and I must say I’m VERY satisfied! I love some sushi and this placed is tucked in a plaza. I sat at the sushi bar and watched the fabulous chef prepare my fresh rolls. They play music(it’s not loud) and it’s actually nice unlike old rock and roll and country from the 70’s that every other restaraunt likes to play. They actually play hip music. My server was attentive but not annoying(some servers come by every two seconds and try to talk while your mouth is full of food lol. Overall I’m so happy I’ve finally found a yummy sushi spot close to my house. Try this place! You won’t be disappointed!

There is just something about this place that I really like. I like the menu, the set up, and quality for price. Reminds me of what sushi restaurants where like 20 years ago, fun with a lot of variety! We call this our favorite family sushi place. Doesn’t stop us from going on a date night either. The BEST, house ginger dressing in the world!(Needed to mention that) So good in fact that sometimes instead of soup and salad, I go double on salad! Really good Sashimi. In my opinion the easiest way to tell if your getting great sushi is by ordering sashimi, you won’t be disappointed! Two locations, I prefer the Smyrna one be used the AC is much better!

Lunch In search to try ever Asian soup venue in Atlanta, I went to Kuroshio and tried there –HOTWOKSHRIMOUDON — spicy udon noodle soup slowly cooked and topped with hot wok shrimp — $ 12.00. I have to say, FRESH! Seems that they use cucumbers, carrots that are prepared for the sushi, and the broth is cooked with onions and then the noodle added and topped of with the shrimp. Overall, I would try the soup again. Next time I’ll switch out the udon for the reman. Appearance: 5 Texture: 4 Taste: 3 — — — 12⁄15: 80% Grade B

A mediocre place for sushi. I came here with a group of friends for a dinner and it was a very underwhelming experience. Right from the start, you will notice that the music playing is very loud. It felt more like being out at a club, than sitting down for some food. In some places, that sort of environment could work, but in this case it was just awkward. When ordering, I asked if they could make the vegetable fried rice without egg, due to an allergy. Our server said she would specify no egg. The dish comes out and it was covered in egg. Once I saw this, it took a while before we could get her attention, but she did politely apologize and take it back. What was also odd was that the incorrect rice dish came out way before anyone else’s food. The second plate of rice came back(just as the other plates were delivered) and although it was a big portion, the dish wasn’t too good. It was very greasy and had a meaty smell to it. I’m guessing that they cook everything on the same equipment, so if you are vegetarian, beware. Overall, service was relatively slow, especially considering it was not very busy. At least our server was courteous about the error in my dish and she was otherwise pleasant. Besides that, none of us were particularly impressed by the food. Not to mention, the prices were a bit steep as well. I am not a big sushi fan and since I was not fond of my experience here either, I will not be coming back.

Excellent ambiance, service and food. I wish it was closer to home. I ordered two rolls and then I realized I would be satisfied with one. I ordered the bagel roll and the rumba roll and I really enjoyed this one. They have signs on their favorites choices from the public.

Been here for lunch, it wasn’t busy so got seated immediately. I’m newbie to Japanese cuisine! There was only a couple of vegetarian options which was not the best so I don’t visit this place again. Waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and good service.

4.5 stars This is my go-to sushi place. It’s consistently VERY good. The reason why I love this place so much is that they put a very large amount of quality fish in all of their various rolls. ALSO, the prices are very competitive! Parking: Plenty Environment: You can sit at tables, booths, or at the sushi bar. There’s also an actual minibar. There are various TVs set up so you can watch sports games etc. here. Service: The waiters are nice and mostly prompt. However, the wait to get your food is very long(~15−20 minutes). VERYGOODFOOD: +Salmon, Tuna, and Yellowtail & Scallion Temaki(1 Hand Roll) at $ 3 – 4 each — These are really good– I’m a fan of the prevalent flavor of the seaweed. Also, the the amount of fish in each one is crazy in a good way! +Spicy Salmon Maki(6 pieces) at $ 3 per order — MYFAVORITETHINGTOORDER. Huge cuts of salmon in every piece. +Hamachi Shiso(yellow tail tuna and mint leaf maki) at $ 6 — DELICIOUS. Supposedly one of their«favorites» +Inari(sweet tofu) at $ 1 each — Very well done. At other sushi places, the inari is sometimes drenched in a sauce or too sweet but the inari here is just right. +Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail Nigiri at $ 1.50 each — ALLSOGOOD. OKAYFOOD: +Miso soup — Standard and good +Spicy Tilapia Maki — Good, nothing special though +Tempura — Passable, but nothing special OTHERFOOD: +Spicy Tuna Maki — Honestly kind of mediocre. The chili they place on top is overwhelming. +Tamago(sweet omelet) — Nothing special, though I don’t think I’m a huge fan of tamago to begin with. Summary: I love this place for the quality of food at cheap prices.
