The service was pretty horrible– they were out of rice and gumbo. We ordered crawfish which were awesome– but you have to order a minimum of three pounds– which is huge. Probably won’t be back. :/

Extremely hit or miss. The food is always good. The wait staff is usually horrible. Today I went in, sat down at a table, about 10 mins later, a girl finally comes out from behind the counter and drops a menu on my table. I tell her that I already know what I want, and she tells me I have to come up to the register to enter my order. That was a new one for me. I have been there several times, and never have been asked that.

I stopped by for a shrimp platter to go. I was told they didn’t have enough shrimp to make the shrimp platter. Mind you this was around noon, so I’m not sure if they planned to be out of shrimp for the rest of the day or what. So I ordered the corn and crab soup. Basically it was just creamed corn with a few pieces of crab on the top. It wasn’t flavorful and the crab was not throughout the soup. The pieces on top that I thought were garnish turned out to be the only crab in the soup. Also, it really didn’t taste like soup. The taste was very reminiscent of Campbell’s creamed corn out of the can. I was very disappointed, this was my first time ordering from there, and it will be the last.

I love this place it’s small & comfy. The food is good, Bree is an excellent waitress she makes you feel important while balancing her other customers. The fried green tomatoes are my weakness there. The food is very good & authentic.

Super friendly people. The food is really great. Taste just like New Orleans. Wish I had a bigger stomach so I could eat more of the tasty food. Will be back to try the other food I didn’t get to.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. Did this place change hands? Second and third time we went back bread was not the same, recipes changed and also the service. Now just another typical kitsch café where the cooks couldn’t even find NOLA on a map.

My girlfriend and I went here for lunch on Saturday morning after A night on the town Friday night, so we were hungry. Upon walking in we were greeted warmly by the hostess who took our order. The restaurant is cozy and very clean, we placed our order, shrimp po boy, fried green tomatoes, corn and crab soup, fried green tomatoes and a seafood platter(our eyes were much bigger than our stomachs), we obviously took half of this home. Everything is cooked to order so it was hot and fresh when it was brought to the table, my girl is from Boston so she is picky eater. She had no complaints about the taste of the food, in fact she said it was very good and I totally agree with her. The cook staff came out and asked us how was the food and had light conversation with us with made us feel welcomed, they even changed the channel on the TV so that we could watch college football while we ate. Our experience at On The Bayou was very good and we will definitely continue to patronize this establishment.

Popped in for a late lunch and had the Wednesday special the tasty Hamburger Steak and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. My honey got the oyster poboy with red beans and rice he said it was ok a bit disappointed in the beans lacking flavor. Great fast and friendly service

Talk about high prices and for that area. NOWAY. Its cheaper to eat at Red Lobster and at least you get a salad and rolls.

Super food and experience! We have heard about it for a while and glad we stopped in. It’s not a full service kind of restaurant but don’t let that fool you, it is clean, friendly, and awesome staff. Great service from Gina who made our experience that much better Definitely will be back, glad we found it. A great taste of the bayou in Cobb Co!

The flavors I tasted at On the Bayou didn’t represent for the Big Easy. The reviews were all over the spectrum so we drove out to Smyrna to try it for ourselves. We got there about an hour before closing and it was busy but we didn’t have trouble finding a table. When we walked in I was really excited to see alligator heads and sketches of the French Quarter on the wall. There was even a New Orleans themed bedtime story perched on the ledge next to our table. It looked promising… It figured if it looked like NOLA then it would taste like it too, right? Not so much. I started with the Corn and Crabmeat Soup. To say it was just a cup of soup and not a bowl, it was a huge portion. It was creamy and chock full of named ingredients but there was no heat or spice to make it taste interesting. At least the guys enjoyed their crispy Gator Bites. My entrée was the Blackened Redfish, grilled redfish served with Macque Choux. Our server, Crystal, told me they’d run out of redfish and would have to substitute tilapia. That should have been my cue to order something else but I didn’t.
The plate arrived to the table with equal portions of white rice, fish and corn. It didn’t look appetizing and for $ 18.95 I expected more fish and less filler.(No, they wouldn’t adjust the price even though tilapia is NOT redfish. I wasn’t footing the bill but it irked me on principle.) I didn’t care for the Macque Choux. I prefer a creamy-style dish and this version was more vinegary. The fish was just ok. The guys had more luck with their fried seafood platters. They reported that the fried shrimp were pretty good – well battered and flavorful. Based on my dishes…2 stars. The service was friendly but unfortunately I didn’t find the taste of home I was looking for at On the Bayou.

Starting coming here about a year ago and had I reviewed them then they would have received 5 stars. I’ve had a few things there but would always go back for a po-boy. Normally the shrimp were medium sized and fried to perfection with great seasoning. This time around the shrimp were small and over fried. The ownership has apparently changed. I hope they get better. I might try them again one day. Would have typically ordered the shrimp po boy or shrimp étouffée.

Let me begin by saying the service is great. There was one server when we dined in but she was a great communicator! However, we came for the food. My hubby has been to New Orleans several times but I b have not. I crave a great New Orleans knockoff in Atlanta plus there was a Scoutmob, so I couldn’t go wrong. Well the name should be On The Bland instead of On The Bayou. I had the fish platter with fries, hush puppies and«dippers»(crab and artichoke ball). I added shrimp to the platter as well. My date had the shrimp po-boy. We also shared the fried green tomatoes(free with Scoutmob). I’m pregnant so I 0came with an appetite but I’m also sensitive to flavors and smells. The entire platter from the fish to the FRIES were bland. I don’t even know how that is possible! I added salt, hot sauce, ketchup, remolaude(ms) sauce, and tarter sauce aka mayo in a ramekin to items on the platter just to establish some kind of flavor. It was very disappointing. My date said his po-boy was salty but when I tasted it, I didn’t taste salt but the same dry unflavored batter it was breaded in. The wait for food was long due to there being a shortage of staff. We waited about 40 mins. The fish plate was tilapia btw. Once I slathered it in more sauces it was edible… I wish this establishment all the best, but I won’t be back. Now I have to go find some lunch because I’m still hungry!

The fried shrimp was good, seasoned well. Gumbo was less than perfect judged by New Orleans standards. I would visit again for fried shrimp and maybe fish but not for traditional Cajun dishes!

Yes, it may very well be the best sandwich in town. Took one home last night and as instructed popped it in the oven just a couple of minutes. I was a big hit with the wife, I gar-on-tee. Honestly the best Muffuletta I have ever had outside of Orleans Parish!

Extremely delicious! I had the jambalaya which was amazing and was the perfect amount. Also had great service and entertainment. The dippers are the best, which are a side. If you want to have some great Louisiana food, come here!

Left without eating. It was Saturday, lunch time. After literally waiting 15 minutes to be acknowledged, we gave up. Should have been clued-in when a table near us left without ordering. There were only 3 other tables with patrons. Keep in mind, this used to be a Huddle House. So, you know the size… small enough to hear every slurp of every table. The pictures online make the food look good. But honestly, looking around at the other tables, people left half the food on their plates(not because the portions are big). What irked me for a fellow customer, was that there was food ready to be delivered to a table, but the cook just sat there staring at it. Doing nothing else and yet would not deliver it to the table directly in front of her. Seriously, just standing there. I was tempted to pick it up and bring it to the customer myself. I am more sympathetic when a place is busy and /or shorthanded, but this was unacceptable.

Friendly staff, legit New Orleans food, the patio is nice when it’s warm outside. Awesome boiled crawfish when they are in season.

I love this place — best kept secret in Smyrna. Their shrimp po’boy is bomb. Their hush puppies are also great. Next time I’m hoping to try the roast beef po’boy, the waitress was pushing it pretty hard. Why 4 stars? The good is great, but it takes a while to come out. Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry.

After seeing a picture of the cuisses de grenouilles, I came specifically for them. I called ahead and when I arrived, my order was not ready. It was close to an hour from the time I called until I left with my order. I ordered the frog leg platter; six frog legs, fries and toast. The frog legs were good, but the batter in which they were fried was insipid.
