The menu is average Italian, the eggplant parm might be good but we chose the fettuccini, lasagna, and 4 way pasta. The fettuccini was ok, lasagna was just ok the portion was over cooked and fresh garlic was over powering. The 4 way pasta had weak marinara little flavor and meat. Nothing here seemed completely homemade most seemed to be from frozen even the rolls looked like frozen parked house rolls, drowned in butter and lots of fresh garlic. The lunch price at 10 a plate is not bad deal but too many other good Italian places around and no pizza or calzone choices made my kids sad.

Awful. They should be embarrassed … I can’t believe they have stayed in business for so long. I rarely write reviews but I’m literally in my car in the parking lot after eating there and couldn’t not write a review. Food done poorly all around. Marsala and francese sauces were terrible. Breading on veal soggy. Served fettuccini Alfredo on a small bread plate and it was the worst Alfredo I have ever had. Zero effort to even present the food well … Bland and soupy. I think you could put a frozen Marie calendar chicken Alfredo in the microwave and get better results.

How do you say disappointed in Italian? I was suggested this restaurant by a friend who interestingly never ate there. The place looked like it time traveled from the 1980’s. Lobby almost had a general store feel with a lot of large cans of tomato sauce and other items. I’ll mention those cans later. The restaurant was very cold as if they forgot that it’s almost winter. The seating area is very small and tight with lots of wood paneling that past customers wrote on with sharpie markers. The waiting staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. But I couldn’t help just thinking about how old this place feels, as if Don Johnson was about to come around the corner in that white linen suite and turquoise shirt. Anyway the food was not impressive at all. Remember those tomato cans? You can tell their sauce comes from a can, no MaMa Lucci in the kitchen preparing her secret family recipe. It was average Italian food. In fact Olive Garden would have been a better choice. Add this place to the list of no returns!

My mother in law was in town and we had been having another week long food adventure. So she and my husband and I felt like indulging in some seafood. We were recommended this place so we headed off. Its on a shopping center right off the freeway near a Bestbuy and Verizon store so it seemed to be in a prime location. When you first walk through the door and head to your seats you bear witness to maybe hundreds of baby photos collaged along the walls. This place is known for its eggplant parm which can induce labor of the pregnancy is far enough along. So hence these were all eggplant babies. Our waiter was super nice and informative as he gave us recommendations. We ended up getting the cioppino, red snapper franchese and the veal franchese. None of which rocked our socks off. The appetizers were delicious however. We had the shrimp with garlic and breadcrumbs and rolls topped with tons of which was amazing. Plus a bottle and a half of wine to boot! ;) Scallinis has been here since 1980 and the décor is to match. Dated furniture and formally dressed waiters. I asked my husband of he’d try it again and he said maybe.

Hubby brought me here for my birthday. Very good food and very good service. If it’s your birthday you eat free! We’ll be back off birthday. There seems to be a lot of genuine people dining here. They also have an eggplant dish that allegedly causes pregnant women to go into labor…

First off. What Scalini’s isn’t: This isn’t one of those Trendy Hipster Boutique places with a chef you can’t pronounce the name of. Scalini’s is OLDSCHOOL Italian Cuisine. The décor is right out of Good Fellas, right down to the stucco walls. Now to the food: Garlic Rolls… Need I say more. I had the old standby Chicken Parm, very good and tender. Now the wife had the Vegetable Lasagna: DIVINE! It’s a very inviting and romantic atmosphere.

Never ever had a bad experience here. We don’t live cloae, but we always come here when we are in the area. The spinach tortellini and the eggplant are great! The garlic rolls and salad are a must without saying. I have no complaints at all. Not a stuffy place and it feels like mama’s kitchen.

OMG ! This place is authentic. They do not skimp on their portions even if you do take-out. Very pleased with this place and highly recommend them. I ordered the Cannelloni Del Mar and it was really good. The garlic bread and salad that comes with the dinner was an added bonus.

This is the definition of «middle-of-the-road.» You can’t go wrong this place. It seemed to be straight out of a box… From the staff to the meal seemed«standardized.» Nothing special. I ordered garlic bread w/salad, and manicotti w/meat sauce. The garlic bread were the best thing on the table. Actual garlic which was drenched with too much butter. I was disappointed with the salad only because I was expecting it to have olives and it didn’t. They have a large display with Italian staple items, but the salad was missing olives?! With, I believe, a store bought Italian dressing. Lastly, the manicotti was…(drum rolls please…) average. I don’t know if I’d recommend this place, but I plan on going back again to confirm my first experience here.

The visit to this restaurant was a pure coincidence which turned into quite a memorable dinner. Not having eaten out in the longest time, my husband and I were rearing to indulge in some comfort food. We had not really decided to go anywhere in specific when we stumbled upon this restaurant nicely tucked away while we were window shopping on a pleasant evening. In my quest to try a really good Italian pasta(since my husband loves it but I have never been drawn to this cuisine) this restaurant did a lot to change my mind. We ordered for a Lasagna Napoletana and Cannelloni. The server was on top of his game and gave very honest description of the dishes which proves to be an ice breaker when one is looking to ask many questions and make an informed decision about their order. The meal began with a fresh and crisp portion of salad accompanied with super soft and warm rolls topped with garlic and olive oil. It was more than something one would be expected to much on while awaiting for their orders. The very combination opened up our senses. A truly brilliant start! The flavors in the dressing were fresh and subtle and wently perfectly with the warm garlic bread rolls. No sooner did we wipe the last of the rolls off the dish that our orders arrived. The pastas were delicious to say the least. The lasagna was cooked to perfection with the various layers intact simmering in the jus. The Cannelloni also proved to be a delight with a marvelous stuffing of meat and cheese. The ‘orange’ sauce as the server described proved to carry the delicate balance of sweet and sour. If it wasnt piping hot, I would have actually scooped up a spoonful. Stuffed to the brim we never-the-less were encouraged to order for dessert and choose to order the predictable Tiramisu. Nothing predictable about it, the dessert was devoured off as smoothly as it arrived. Fantastic in texture and just the right portion size. The after taste of the mascarpone and the Savoiardi linger till much later. Much recommended especially for someone wanting to try a good hearty dish of pasta, soft garlic rolls and delectable dessert to seal the meal. The free meal on your birthday would not be the only reason for us to return to Scalini’s. Great customer service, delicious food, pices definitely match the experience and a no-rush warm ambiance.

I have visited Scalini’s once many years ago when I knew a server. I remember not being impressed with it, and is why I haven’t been back until recently. My in-laws were in town(they currently live in the Mobile Bay area, but lived in Marietta several years ago), and they wanted to visit Scalini’s for old time’s sake. We got a huge table in the main dining room. The décor looks old, heavy, and outdated. Dark walls, dark wood, and green carpet. It reminded me of places Robert Irvine flips his lid at on his TV shows. At least they appeared to have dusted the fake ivy along the ceiling. My fiancé and I split the Chicken Ripieno. It was really good, tasted very fresh. I’m glad we split it because they serve generous portions. The spaghetti was good, but I’m pretty sure it was boxed and not made in-house. Everyone else at our table loved their dishes as well. The service was also great. The server kept his cool the entire time with us(we were a party of 11), and kept all our glasses full. Food came out quickly and while it was still hot. Despite our great experience, I still find it to be a lackluster restaurant. It’s not one I think about frequently, and nothing really set it apart in my mind as a place I’d like to visit again.

We came here for a reservation of 10 people. We were immediately seated and helped. The service was quick and the waiter was on top of everything. The food was great. I had the Venetian with white wine and linguine. The sauce was great and flavorful. You get unlimited salad and garlic bread. The menu has a lot of choices and I hear it’s all great. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a decent Italian place in this area. ALSO! If it’s your birthday — your meal is free!

Took our 9 month pregnant friend here to eat the eggplant parmesan to induce labor(unfortunately did not work within 48 hours). This place has great customer service. I was really craving alfredo sauce pasta and asked for a recommendation. Our waitress suggested the beef lasagna with alfredo sauce. By far the most amazing thing for $ 14. Will be back for seconds.

I came here for my friend’s birthday(free meal on your birthday). We had a party of 14. Normally that would mean a disaster, but the service was amazing. The food came out in a timely manner, and our one waiter didn’t mess up anyone’s order. Salad and garlic rolls are unlimited… and it was really endless. Our table was well stocked. I always wish though, that the salads had nutritional lettuce in it. It was all iceberg. I got the eggplant parm. It was very tasty. Lots of cheese on top and a good portion. It came with a side of pasta. The pasta tasted like box pasta, so nothing special about it. Overall great experience. Reminds me of an Olive Garden with the same style of unlimited salad and garlic rolls, however, I would say the eggplant parm is better than Olive Garden.

Wow! Customer service is on point!!! Had a great experience here. We had a table of 13 and our waiter, Kevin, juggled us perfectly and did it pretty much solo! Very impressed. He had bread and salad out nonstop. Always filled our water. I mean, I hardly get service like that other places with only 2 people at the table! For dinner I had the Chicken Ripenio. Absolutely delicious breaded chicken, the outside cooked to the perfect amount of crispy-ness, stuff with mushrooms, spinach and sausage. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is because: 1) the broccoli I had as a side instead of pasta was not something I’d order again 2) the bathrooms were kind of a hot mess. A bit dirty and extremely dated. They need renovations in the restrooms. Perk: free dinner on your birthday. Must show ID.

Overall, this restaurant was pretty good. The endless salad and garlic rolls make it. There is just enough dressing on the salad and all the flavors work well together. The rolls are dripping with garlic and butter. The appetizer sample platter is a great idea if you have a large group who wants to taste everything and honestly? Every one of the appetizers were delicious. The calamari was also fantastic, with the right ratio of calamari to fried crispness. My entrée was not the best chicken Alfredo I’ve had. There was an odd sweetness to it and the amount of sauce drowned the noodles. The chicken parm was pretty good and cooked to perfection. My husband cleaned his plate. The lasagna had great ratio of noodles, sauce, and meat. However, it also was on he sweeter side, which I didn’t think was necessary. At our table, the chocolate cake and some ice cream were ordered and both were delicious. I feel like it is definitely an old school style of food with large portions and an older clientele. HOWEVER, you get a free meal on your birthday! Just bring your license for proof.

I used to come to this restaurant as a kid, so I must admit that the nostalgia of this place for me helped the rating. The booths they have in the middle of the restaurant are so cozy. Perfect for a date night. People have doodled all over the tall wooden booths, so it is fun to look at. The garlic rolls are out of control delicious. SO much fresh garlic and butter. The salads are served family style and have great toppings on them — like beets! Huge selection of your typical Italian dishes. Very resonably priced too.

Last night a good friend of mine and I dined here at Scalini’s, which is located snug in the corner of the Promenade Shopping Center off cobb parkway, beside Retro Fitness and Bestbuy. As guests enter Scalini’s, they step back into a time machine and enter the 1970’s as the appearance is that of an old European deli, with displays of cans of tomatoes and extra virgin olive oils on the shelves. All of these beautiful antiques of course are for aesthetic and really add character to the restaurant. They have stunning looking bar all wrapped in what appears to be dark oak or mahogany. As we walked towards our table, there were pictures all through the halls, many them displaying pictures of babies, it seems this for many of the locals becomes their family spot. Who does not love a picture of a baby with spaghetti pouring over their head? We walk up the stairs, the hostess warns us about the steps, as we enter Scalini’s large dining area, I notice the old antique furniture and the beautiful walls that are all wrapped around in hard woods. We are greeted by our server Lauran, who is very outspoken and very pleasant. She made some recommendations, so we tried the calamari, which came out just right. It was nice and crispy and not chewy, something some places tend to do. I would just recommend slightly more marinara sauce for the calamari. For dinner I had the Veal Parmigiana, which comes with the family salad bowl, the mixed salad was very good with slices of fresh Roma tomatoes, onions and freshly cut beets. I really enjoyed the salad. Lauran then brought us a bowl with their freshly made rolls, they are topped with lots of garlic, which is perfect to keep those blood thirsty vampires away. I love garlic, so I enjoyed them, others who do not like garlic as much, might not enjoy them, but heck, it is included in the dinner. My Veal Parmigiana was really good, the portion size was just enough to feed me, without leaving leftovers. Overall, the service by Lauran was excellent, she was very thorough, always checked to make sure everything was satisfactory, kept our drinks refilled and was very consistent with us as well as her other guests. I give her an A. Scalini’s also has a health score of 100%, something that is almost impossible for a restaurant that has been in business as long as this one has. That definitely speaks volumes of this place. I would highly recommend Scalini’s for couples, families and even parties as this place is huge enough to host a party for 100. I came here for my birthday and it was fantastic! I made a reservation for 10 people a couple days before the actual day, just in case. The service was fast and efficient and the food was delicious! I had the Eggplant Parmesan which I requested with Pink sauce as opposed to the normal Marinara sauce or meat sauce it naturally comes with. It came out great with the right amount of sauce and overloaded cheese. The pasta on the side was not the best looking, but it tasted very good. The entrée came with unlimited salad and garlic bread. The salad was served family style in a big bowl with serving utensils to share with the table. It had all kinds of ingredients like lettuce, tomato, beets, chick peas, cheese, etc. It also had the perfect amount of salad dressing mixed in it. Just a heads up, the birthday dinner on your actual birthday is free(up to $ 13and no coupon required). Not only was it a great meal but it was also FREE and comes with a little scoop of ice cream with a candle on top! The staff will also sing for you. The menu prices are average for an Italian restaurant. I certainly recommend this restaurant for birthdays as we had a great time and so will you! Regardless of the occasion, check this Italian Restaurant out! You won’t regret it!
