Our family sushi spot in Smyrna/Vinings. A real nice family owned and operated sushi spot. They are nice good food and will make young roll if you are unsure what you want.

Smyrna’s sushi secret. Great food at good prices! The restaurant is owned and run by a husband and wife so service can be a little slow, but definitely worth the wait. Food is made fresh to order and served piping hot.

This is a family-owned place literally within walking distance of my new home, so I really want it to do well. My first visit for dinner a few weeks ago was fine, though not exceptional. My second visit for lunch this week didn’t go well at all. I called in my order at 12:35 and arrived at 1:00. They hadn’t yet started preparing it. I ordered the three-roll lunch special, with shrimp tempura, salmon, and tuna(to put in the fridge for a later snack.) When I got home, I discovered that the shrimp tempura roll came with a ton of avocado — which I hate — smushed over everything, so I couldn’t scrape it off. If the menu had mentioned avocado, I would’ve requested it be omitted. And the salmon and tuna rolls also came with dabs of wasabi inside, which I also don’t like. Again, the menu didn’t say they were«spicy», and every other sushi place I’ve visited puts the wasabi on the side so that people can add it later if they wish. I was tempted to leave a negative Unilocal review, but again, I really do want this place to do well. Since I live close by and had some free time, I decided instead to go back and give them a chance to fix my order. When I arrived, the owner basically insisted that I should have known better. Of course the salmon and tuna came with wasabi, even though it wasn’t mentioned on the menu(which lists both«tuna» and«spicy tuna», so silly me for thinking that the non-spicy version wouldn’t have wasabi.) And what’s the big deal if the shrimp tempura roll comes with a chunk of avocado which isn’t listed on the menu, even though several other rolls do mention avocado? She wouldn’t accede to any of my issues — she was right, and I was apparently the idiot who didn’t know better.(To be fair, she wasn’t rude, just very matter-of-fact about it.) She finally shrugged and said, «What do you want, then?» I asked for a new avocado-less shrimp tempura roll. They made it, and I left. So. I love the idea of being able to walk to a neat little sushi place nearby, and they seem like a lovely family. But from now on I guess I’ll just go to one of the dozens of other sushi places in Vinings/Smyrna. Too bad.

A true family owned restaurant! The portions are generous and the food is great. Has become a weekly location for me. Highly recommend trying the chicken hibachi, they have a unique take on it compared to other restaurants.

Love the kimono that the server wore. I was happy that I could have an avocado/cucumber roll and it was DELICIOUS! Sushi made fresh to order as far as I could tell. The ginger salad is delicious also. Overall super happy with the entire experience!

Excellent service and great sushi at an affordable price. Got a couple tampura rolls and wasn’t disappointed. Would recommend it to anyone in Cobb county area. Far better than going downtown for over priced sushi.

What a great surprise! I was a bit worried as we were the only diners at 6 p.m. on a Saturday night — but I had no need to be. The food was fresh, fresh, fresh. Beautiful sushi and sashimi. The sashimi with avocado was lovely — it came with a delicate citrus dipping sauce and was light — and did I mention fresh? I had a chicken teriyaki /tempura /sashimi special & my mom had the teriyaki seafood /sashimi special — both were excellent & the portions huge! The seafood special had a lobster tail, scallops & shrimp & the sashimi & sushi portions were generous and very appealing to the eye. Did I mention how generous the portions were? The chicken teriyaki/sashimi special was spot on — sashimi portion was tuna, salmon & white fish — did I mention how fresh everything was? Seems to be a mom and pop operation — at its best example. Yan serves and her husband is the sushi chef and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and quiet. My only regret is that I can’t go back until Monday and get more of their sashimi with avocado — because they are closed Sundays.

I got takeout from here one night with a friend, and was pleasantly surprised with how good it was! Well, after we waited about 15 minutes for our food after the promised pick up time. They gave us some free edamame for the wait, so all is well! I got the teriyaki chicken with fried rice, and it came with a ginger salad and soup. The soup and salad were okay, but the entrée was great! Very generous portions — I’ll probably split an entrée next time. It was just too big for one person. The veggies were super fresh and crisp, too. Next time I’m craving takeout, I’ll hit up Sushi Tong!

I gave this restaurant a try due to the fact that it was the only one opened at 3pm in the area. When I arrived it was actually closed but the waitress was willing to ring up my order to go. When I came in there was a couple eating and then the waitress and sushi chef were at another table eating with their daughter. Regardless of whether you are closed or not, if you are running a restaurant business it’s key to keep it professional. The sushi chef was eating extremely loud and it’s not a good look for someone who has never been. When I order, the waitress shows me the lunch specials and i choose two rolls for $ 7.99. She packs my order with soup & salad. Everything looks good. As I am walking out, a group of 5 men come in and after the waitress and chef exchange some words, they tell the men to sit down where ever they would like. Again, it is unprofessional to tell one customer you are closed and another that you are open. Last thing, the entrance of the place is a bit rough. There is an old couch which ruins the look of the place. Goodwill has great furniture which could help emphasize the look of the entrance… The sushi tasted fine but the experience is not worth experiencing«good enough» sushi again.

Local place, so close to home and just tried it for the first time. Sushi was very fresh, restaurant was clean and service was outstanding – very personable. They’ve been in business for 12 years. We will definitely be back!

It is rather rare to find sushi that is quite THIS good in Georgia, I would have to say. If you are fortunate enough to find this gem and you are a fan of sushi, you are not to be disappointed here whether it be for lunch or for dinner. I first discovered this humble yet finely decorated establishment during my lunch break for work not long ago. I found the staff attentive and polite. The dining area is intimate without being intrusive of one’s personal space. I had one of their eel rolls as it is a favorite of mine. It was quite delicious and filling for a lunch meal which came with perhaps the freshest and most crisp salad I have ever seen. About a week or so later I visited once again on the way home for a take out meal of various sushi pieces for a celebration meal. To share with you in a summarily fashion, each piece was at least two bites worth as sushi should be and tasted so tremendous. Though I waited for my food to go, I could see this place is a great date spot for the evening or perhaps with the family as the dining area was speckled with different kinds of happy people enjoying their meals. The place is very clean in all respects that I could see as a customer(restroom smells good, is clean, walkways are clear of trash, ect…). I highly recommend to all that read this at least one trip to this place and come with high expectations to enjoy yourself, whatever the dining occasion. I sure do!

Nice place. Fresh, tasty sushi. Sushi menu is pretty basic but the prices are good. The ginger salad is on point and so is the miso. They had one sushi chef and waitress on a Friday night, but somehow made it work. I will definitely be back.

My family frequents this sushi place on Atlanta Rd. I’ve only been there for dinner, and its relatively empty, but I think they do a good bit of lunch and take-out business. Located in a strip center with a number of other restaurants, Sushi Tong’s service is pretty good and polite. Sushi is made fresh to order(tasted much fresher than PF Changs last week…), and when I went in tonight they were having an appetizer special on lightly fried shrimp shumai that was pretty good. I would definitely recommend to those in the neighborhood.

First red flag should have been the place was completely empty during the dinner rush hours. Sushi tasted like the container mixed with refrigerator smell(weird I know). The cashier was extremely friendly though, but the food wasnt good enough for me to return.

My husband and I have been going to Sushi Tong for many years. It is simply the best sushi and service in the area. The owners take the time to get to know you and take a lot of pride in the quality of their food.

We had a solid meal here. I enjoyed the sushi and my husband liked the chicken teriyaki. Given its proximity to our house, we are sure to come back.

This is one of the best places to enjoy Mom and Pop Sushi. Their Fantastic Roll is insanely delicious and the Tako is the freshest I’ve had since moving to Georgia. I highly recommend this place!
