Our family ate here twice in the last two days and didn’t experience any of the negatives that other reviewers indicated. It’s a bit expensive but not unreasonable given location at a nice resort. While both times we had to wait a bit to get a table, the staff seemed to turn the tables at a reasonable rate. We had the same server both times and she was attentive and pleasant. Pizza was excellent. Not the best I’ve eaten but really good and properly cooked with no skimping on ingredients. Very pleased, particularly considering convenience and other options nearby. Great for families with kids.

Clueless staff. Can’t handle crowds and become easily overwhelmed. Also be aware of this policy: if there is a wait they won’t let you order carry out. This is a policy at all Snowshoe restaurants. It’s absolutely stupid. «We can’t seat you but you can carry out food either because we can’t handle crowds.»

This is the best food I had during my stay in Snowshoe! The Greek salad is one of the best I’ve ever tasted(and I’ve been to Greece!) We modified the Supreme pizza to give us more kalamata olives(instead of the sliced black olives), jalapeños instead of green peppers and added banana peppers; this was a great idea and we finished the whole thing. Great beer selection; I had Terrapin Hopsecutioner, which is a local Atlanta favorite. The service was quick and friendly, although we had to wait about 15 minutes to sit down. They close at like 9pm, though, so no late-night binges here…

I am absolutely baffled by the bad star rating that this place has. But before I go into that, let me say that our group of four went here two nights in a row and LOVED it. We were actually collectively surprised at how much we liked it. The beer selection was excellent, and they had good prices for a pitcher. Both nights we had multiple delicious pitchers of cherry schwarzbeer and there were many other interesting options. Also we all loved the pizza — the first night we split a meat lovers and a mushroom pizza, the second night we split a margherita pizza and a mushroom pizza. They were nice and piping hot, the mushrooms didn’t taste rubbery at all(rubbery mushrooms to me signal a bad pizza) and I was especially impressed with the sausage slices on the meatlovers pizza. I was expecting little shriveled overcooked tiny sausage balls like you get at places like Dominos. These were large sliced chunks and were fantastic! And I loved the crust — with a harder shell on the outside but with a nice chewy doughyness within. We INHALED those pizzas. Maybe I am not in a good place to comment on the price, as I live in expensive DC — $ 4 for a beer for me, sadly, is considered a GREAT happy hour price. Four of us managed to have a satisfying filling meal here and washed it down with plenty of beer for less than $ 100 total(including tip). Much less. I expected to be gauged at the ski resort so came away from this actually pretty pleased.
To address the negative reviews, first, to the guy that gave it one star because they don’t have wings anymore, that is not true — they DO have wings. Other complaints in the low review ones seem to be about service/waiting, which I guess depends on the night. Both times we went we found the service to be prompt and friendly. On Saturday night it also had the shortest wait time of all the restaurants on the mountain! I guess the qualities that make a pizza good or not are mostly subjective and dependent on the individual’s taste. However, the reviews comparing the pizza here to rubbery gas-station microwavable garbage pizzas are laughable. We went here on a super busy night(Saturday) and a not so busy night(Friday quite late) and the quality was consistent and not even remotely comparable to something from a microwave. Anyway, I’m harping on and on about it and should stop. I will end by saying this place is a solid 4-star«pretty good» place. But the low rating on Unilocal to me is so misleading I am bumping it to 5. Again, we loved this place and thought the food/beer was fantastic! Give it a chance.

Been visiting Cheat Mountain Pizza every time I hit Snowshoe, once or twice a year for the past ten or so years. Yes the pizza is pricey, my last visit which was January 31, 2015, a 16 inch cheese was $ 20, and a 16 inch specialty was $ 24. But remember, you are at a mountaintop resort. In my experience, the quality of the pizza has been very consistent, and it is consistently good, fresh dough pizza. Certainly not the best pizza, but consistently good. Additionally, this place is staffed well and ready for the winter weekend rushes. Service is good, and in a timely manner. Cheat Mountain Pizza is worth a try.

We got a meat lovers and a Margherita, we were fans of the Meat Lovers but the Margherita wasn’t all that great.

Maybe more of a 3.5 stars rating. This place is always packed every time I come to Snowshoe so I figured it may be one of the better food options in the Village. The pizza was good, not the best I’ve had. Pricey, but that’s expected for a ski resort. I ordered the Wild Mushroom pizza. It was very cheesy and oily and could have had more mushrooms. They hire young folks who seem clueless in what’s going on so don’t be surprised with the slow service. If you placed an order to go, it may be sitting there for a while before someone notices and gives it to you. There are better restaurants in the Village, but if you want pizza, this is the best place to go. They also serve beer!

Good Pizza. Nice big salads. Good selection of beers. You are in a resort so it has higher prices than expected and it will get really busy and service can get backed up. Today we had a supreme pizza and a house salad… It was delicious.

Only because zero wasn’t available! I called asked if they delivered they said yes I said ok I’m gonna look at the menu and call you back! Ok! 5 minutes later called back and now they aren’t taking deliveries or pick up orders now! This place is a joke! From the reviews I read I’m kinda glad I didn’t get it anyway! it says delivery and takeout on the website!!! False advertising!!!

Don’t read the other reviews. The pizza was great here, though it does have resort prices, but that’s something you can’t really get around on the mountain. I would eat here again instead of somewhere mediocre like foxfire grille; the pesto and meat lovers pizzas were awesome and made with very good cheese, and their strombolis are pretty great also. The other reviews don’t seem accurate at all compared to the experience I had. Most are almost a year old, so I’m sure the restaurant must have improved since then. Eat here.

So your stuck on top of a mountain and tired from skiing all day and there is a place that has hot pizza and cold beer. Yes please! Is it the best pizza ever — no. Is it over priced –yes. My kids loved it and ate a bunch, took the rest back to the room and ate it for lunch the next day. You know where you are and that it’s the only pizza game in town so get over it and eat it already :)

If you’re too tired to cook after a long day on the slopes, you can do a lot worse than Cheat Mountain. It’s kind of overpriced, but it’s pretty good pizza. My girlfriend and I visited on a Friday evening and shared a Meatball and Portobello pizza. It was fairly good and better than I was expecting from resort food. It had a decent amount of shredded meatball and mushrooms on top, and the cheese was good. The crust could have been crispier — it was a little tricky, though possible, to eat it by hand. Service was so-so. Our waitress took our order correctly but brought out our check right after our pizza came out and then disappeared. We didn’t end up ordering dessert, but if we had wanted to it would have been annoying. A large(16 inch) pizza and pitcher came out to around $ 40, which would be crazy if this place wasn’t located on top of a mountain. Given the location, it wasn’t terrible.

Cheat Mountain Pizza got Cheap over night! I’ve been going to Snow Shoe for the Past 4 years. They were awesome until this year real big disappointment. They got rid of the wings they had which in my opinion were awesome. The pizza also wasn’t of the quality it was in the past. The crust sucked, the cheese wasn’t of good quality. It was like they changed the recipes and got new management over the last year. The Fox Fire Grill was real good ate there the last night. If I knew how good it was I would of been there every night. The Junction was ok but the service there sucked! I had to ask other servers for refills. Also watch for gratuity they add it and don’t tell you! But anyways Big disappointment as far as The Pizza Place goes. Sergio you were our server for the past several years what happened to this place.

You would never, ever go to Cheat Mountain if it were located in your home town. But it sits in a place with very few options. Overpriced and underwhelming. We ended up getting a pizza to go that had been sitting for what must have been hours, to avoid an hour wait for them to make it fresh. Dominos does it better.

THISPLACESUCKS!!! This is some of the worst pizza I’ve ever had. It makes my heart and stomach sad to say that chains like Pizza Hut, Dominos, and Papa John’s *cringe* actually make substantially better pizza than Cheat Mountain Pizza Company. 4 large pizzas for delivery cost just over $ 100. We got 2 pepperoni, 1 ham and pineapple, and one margherita. The guy who took our order said there would be «plenty of pepperoni» on it… We counted exactly 12 slices of pepperoni on one pie and 14 on the other. So each slice had about 1 ½ pieces of pepperoni. That’s some serious bullshit… The ham and pineapple pizza looked like it was made by a drunk monkey who just threw ingredients(like its own poop) at the pie from across the room. There were piles of ham in some sections, piles of pineapple in others, and bare spots all over. 3 slices of this pie only had 1 or none of the ingredients. So we had to rearrange the ingredients ourselves. Seriously? The margherita pizza was meh at best… The dough was a bleached, flavorless, rubbery disc of disappointment. The sauce tasted like canned tomato paste. And to boot, the pizza arrived nice and cold; just the way no one likes it. Don’t bother with this suckfest. You’d be happier with a frozen microwave pizza.

Intro: Being at a ski resort, there’s a limited amount of restaurants that is in walking distance. Of course it being MLK weekend, there were very long waits on the night we didn’t get to cook for dinner. Seating a party of about 12 for Foxfire grill went from 45 mins when I called to see how long the wait would be that Sunday night to, 2 hours when we arrived. While I wasn’t necessarily hungry myself, most of the group opted out on waiting to see what else was available. Seems Cheat pizza was still open late for a Sunday evening, so across the street we go. Service: Service was generous. Our server allowed me to still order a bottle of blue moon even though I left my ID in my snowboard pants earlier in the day. He did some how had to get us to repeat our order thinking he could remember it all the first go round. Also, some how there was a mix up that he mistakenly put an extra beer on our tab, but didn’t mind adjusting St the end of the night when we checked over the total. Food: The pizza would best be described as «ok». Not the best I’ve had, but better than the worst. I would say the flavor is on par with a some what local pizza place, pie in the sky located in Kennesaw, Ga. Which was also featured on man vs food. We ordered a large supreme pizza just to be on the safe side. Sharing between 4 people, would equal to about 2 slices a piece. So order more than one if you have a lot of hungry men in the party. Overall: So, pretty decent cheap eats if you’re not looking to blow up on your ski/snowboard trip budget. Or it’s late in the night and everyone is too tired from hitting the slopes to want to cook.

Not sure what kind of pizza Ryan H got, but mine was certainly not«pretty damn good». It was«pretty damn average». Obviously frozen dough discs(as opposed to fresh, which is the core of a good pizza). Undercooked doughy crust. Too much cheese that congealed into a mass glob in your mouth, and toppings that were ok, but not fantastic. The margherita didn’t have enough basil, and too much sauce. The supreme was ok toppings wise, but crust was undercooked. Price wise, here’s our tally for three people: 12″(small) margherita — $ 16.99 12″(small) Supreme — $ 17.99 2 cokes — $ 5.98 1 hot chocolate — $ 2.49 total before tip — $ 46.06 Pizza is supposed to be a cheap easy meal after a hard day’s work(in this case skiing). Cheat mountain takes advantage of people visiting the resort by upcharging pretty average pizza. Look at their menu online, no prices. Seriously…( ) I’d rather get cheap pizza from the gas station at the bottom of the mountain than pay the premium for this ever again.
