more about the bike than the store. 1) rear battery over wheel is older asian design, and makes the ebike very top heavy and very tippy. without a dual support kick stand, be careful buying one of these. renting maybe ok. Also major issue when dealing with an already heavy e-bike. Go to Alibaba and you’ll see dozens of these same ebikes, for as cheap as $ 400 to $ 600.(if you buy in qty). 2) heavy bike requires bigger motor so shorter battery life for same size battery on another bike. so they will no doubt give you the option of larger battery’s, which adds more money. Walkk in the door expecting to pay $ 2500, and you’ll come out paying $ 3300 for the same bike equipped how you need it. I would also not want to be a weaker old person over 50, trying to navigate with this ebike. 3) they seem very high priced for what you get, and from what appears to be a big chunk of money going into what amounts to a franchise like distribution network.(i.e. Pedego stores, and independents are both paying for Pedego’s franchise like heavy marketing and branding costs, in the cost they pay for the bike.) 4) colors and schemes seem very california’ish, and fad like, that will not likely be in style very long. they seem very dated already, and not modern, as many other e-bikes are coming out with fresh designs. They probably look ok by a beach or tour resort but in a city like environment, itd be embarassing to ride. Remember when candles were all the rage, and franchises like Country Clutter came out? Only a very small handful of stores, actually made any money, and they had to be in very high touresty areas. Meaning the people who cleaned up were the franchisor, but not the store owners, and eventually the clients lose out, bc they are paying more for the marketing, than having quality and long term reliability in the e-bike itself. 5) They don’t seem practical having both cassettes and gears while having a hub motor. probably go through a lot of chains. seems would be VERY high maintenance. i could see this being an occasional use recreational style bike, but certainly not a reliable commuter bike, nor practical use and errand running bike.

Called to reserve 2 bikes on a weekday and was told that they couldn’t rent any bikes until 3pm because they were having a «photo shoot». It’s too bad that they are more concerned about a photo shoot then actually renting bikes to paying customers.

Update: I left a 1-star review earlier because the shop was closed, even though the posted hours said they’d be open when I stopped by. I decided to purchase another brand of bike from another store, even though I was never able to see the Pedego brand. I’m going to go to 2 stars because the store location is nice.

Call ahead to see if they are open. Monday 11:30am door was locked and the lights were out. No business hours posted. Pedego bikes are top heavy — the battery is above the rear wheel. They are heavy(75lbs?), so loading into/onto car is very hard. Also no cut off when you stop, so accidental acceleration when you’re off the bike is possible. The combo of top heavy, heavy, and no cut off makes them a bit dangerous.

Cool store, great location! You can rent bikes & ride along the beach, through the quaint towns, grab lunch throw it in the basket & picnic on the beach! Friendly staff, all the accessories needed & great deals.

The owners and staff at Pedego Solona Beach have an outstanding customer service. Their eBike is to my opinion the best in their class. I am impressed with the quality every time I ride it. You get what you pay for. I really enjoy riding mine to local Farmers Markets and breweries. It is perfect for my work commute which is 32 miles round trip. If you are not sure if the eBike is for you, go visit for test ride or rent one for the day.
