Came to eat delicious gorditas since i had them before at the greenfield location. ANDWHAT A DISSAPOINMENT!!! the gorditas chicharron were horrible, it had a burned flavor, no taste, no salt. They put rice in the gordita what is that! The gordita was not even closed it was like two tortillas with meat rice and beans in the middle. At greesndield is totally different they know their cooking. Word of advice greenfield bakery has better cooks.

Awesome little secret in Soledad! Not a better place for miles that does sweets and juices… This is an absolute must visit for breakfast or pastries.

Agree with all the good reviews. We stopped there on our way to Pinnacles from the Bay Area for a quick bfast. We had a burrito, two delicious pastries and two coffees for …$ 12 only !! This place is clean, a bit funky, friendly, buzzing, and very well managed. The staff is really friendly, and the pastries(made fresh on site I think) are delicious. Oh, and the selection is HUGE.

Fantastic! I had car trouble driving south from the Bay Area and ended up at this hidden gem while I awaited my car repair. They had a huge selection of sweet and savory baked goods and a full Mexican lunch menu(including breakfast burritos). Everything was fresh, service was very friendly and this find definitely brightened my day. I bought a bunch of goodies to take home and will now make this a mandatory stop when I’m driving by Soledad!

***Yelp Challenge 201621/100*** CARNITATORTAS!!! I grew up eating tortas at this bakery. In fact I grew eating everything here LOL the bread used for the torta is freshly baked here everyday. You can never go wrong if you come here to eat. Since I’ve been away, they have added a full on menu. They have posole and other Mexican dishes. Menudo is only on the weekends. The other cool thing they added for all of you health freaks is a juices. Yes they juice! Never asked them whether or not the fruits were organic. I doubt it though. As far as pastries go, they have so much to choose from. If you have a sweet tooth, look no further because they will fulfill your sweet tooth fantasy. Before you order, make sure you eat the torta first because it’s the bombdotcome!

Driving past Soledad? This is worth the 2 minute detour off the 101. The bakery selection is huge, everything is fresh and delicious! And, prices are reasonable.

I’ve been hearing about this spot forever from my sister in law and my husband. Anytime they talk about going back to Cali they talk about the best tortas in the world. Well we were up there for a week and probably ate here at least 5 times during that week lol. I didn’t have the tortas, but their green chile tamales are AMAZING. So amazing that on our last day there I called in and order 2 dozen to take back home. Their breads and pastries are so fresh and soft. They have this one that looks like a big giant croissant but tastes more like French bread. Seriously, bread doesn’t get any fresher than here. I planned on trying more than just tamales, but they were so good I just kept ordering them. Next time I’ll try more so I can speak for myself on the tortas, but I’m sure they really are the best!

Pastries and breads are made fresh daily, the food is ordered deli style and is tasty, and they even have fresh juices! The Vampire Juice made with beets, celery, orange, apple, carrot and ginger was just what I was craving for when I came in today. I brought home tamales(green sauce with cheese and red sauce with pork) to my son and he loved them. And, the tortas are BOMB! Seriously, they’re the best here with the fresh made bread. Cheap prices, delicious food, friendly service — you can’t go wrong here! You cant leave with just buying one thing, its impossible because everything looks so good. Totally worth stopping by if you’re in the area!

Such a great little spot. We came down here for the wicked wine run and wanted to eat lunch first. The food was good, prices are awesome and I wanted everything in the bakery! For those sweets you pay anywhere from 50 cents to $ 2! They open at 4 am, so if you’re in the mood for a good baked item for breakfast come here! We’ll probably stop by before we go home!

I have been coming to the La Plaza Bakery ever since I was a kid. Not particularly the one in Soledad– but have been to all of their locations throughout the Salinas Valley. I would say the Salinas and Greenfield locations are the best. Their food was full of flavor and definitely a place where the locals go. It is on the more pricey side(for Mexican food), but still fairly good. I take a star off because the last few times I went to the one in Soledad, the burrito I got had so much grasile and fat that I just had to throw it away.

I ordered a ½ sheet cake with fresh strawberries for my son’s birthday. My husband picked up the cake for me and the cake basically slid apart from the top and bottom layer. I figured it night be a minor problem, no big deal. By the time I had checked on the cake again the whole thing started collapsing from all the sides and all the strawberries were outside of the cake! I basically paid $ 50 for a cake that fell apart! Never again!

Friday morning I went to the bakery and picked up 15 pieces of bread. I ordered the same thing for Saturday morning. Expecting my Saturday morning pre-order would be ready for pick up since I ordered it early of course when I get there they haven’t even made my order! To top things off they charged me almost double of what I was charged the day before so I was not happy I was already running late! I will NEVERPRE-ORDER again from THEM!

La Plaza is a cool place. They offer good Mexican food like sandwiches, soups, burritos. Their meat choices are all delicious. Personally I love the torta or burrito. They also have a ton of beverage options(think mini 7 – 11). They have a huge assortment of pan dulce(Mexican bread). All of the choices are yummy. They have various cake slices, croissants, rolls, jelly, custard, sprinkles, cookies, donuts, jello, etc etc etc. Anything to suit your mood. Prices are great. Worth the stop if you’re driving by.

The bakery is a revelation unto itself. We bought a whole box with a little of everything: The traditional pan dulces, a custard-filled danish that was recommended(oh boy was that good), almond croissants, bread pudding, and more. I wanted to bring home one of the little frosted«white dog» cakes for my mom(her dog looks like one of them), but refrained. The last time I was here six months ago, I ate a pineapple turnover that was delicious, too. The hot-food corner is great, too. I ate the special this time, a pork and red chile tamale with rice and beans, and it was good(although not very spicy). My husband had a great al pastor burrito, and my son ate a quesadilla. Judging from the other reviews, however, the tortas on fresh rolls are the way to go, so I’ll make sure I’m hungry for a milanesa(thin fried meat) the next time we go through, which will be in two weeks — I’ll update then. :) The first time we were here, it appeared to be the de facto cafeteria for the prison, as guards and other uniformed enforcement officers came through in a steady stream. This is usually a pretty good sign.

My friend who lives in Soledad now, likes to come here with her family. They order cakes from this bakery. What I didn’t know, is they have a taquria counter? You can order lunch and pick up some dessert. Yes!!! Prices are a little on the high side, especially for a town where there aren’t a lot of jobs around. I know they can get in the people passing through to the Pinnacles. But… also the people should enjoy the deliciousness of eating sugar. Viva azucar

What a delightful bakery and Mexican restaurant. This is a hit spot in Soledad, as the flow of customers seems to be continuous. the chili verde has a nice small bit of spice and was very good. The al Pastor needed to be drained a bit more, but was quite tasty. The taco salad was oh so fresh and just the right size. Add on one of the dozens of type of pastries and we were too full! Clean, almost sparkly, this is an easy choice for lunch when cruising. It can get a bit busy at lunch, so have a dessert first and enjoy life!
